Hi I've search all the threads for directions on how to downgrade to hboot 1.5. I would like to know how to do that, as well as a link to the actual bootloader download. I want to run a stock jelly bean rom (CM10) on my Evo 3D but my current settings won't allow it. Are there any other roms that would work with my settings or do I need to downgrade my bootloader? Any advice will help

You need to downgrade your hboot but since you're s-off, it's easy. Download one from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30014044
Rename to PG86IMG.zip and place on root of SD card. Boot into bootloader and flash it. Delete the file from the card (I use my computer) then boot into recovery and flash cm10.

Thanks for the link, do I need to download the regular Hboot 1.50 or the JBear 1.50?...I'm new at this so I apologize if this is a dumb question. To flash if from the bootloader do I need to connect to the computer and type any commands from the cmd terminal? If so could you please give me a detailed step by step. Thanks

This post has instructions for flashing a bootloader and a link back to the post in the thread coal gave you that has the bootloader files.

Were you ever able to get this to work? I was trying to the same thing for a buddy at work, but I got into boot loops with anything other than Jbear 1.58

You should have tried searching before you posted. There are at least 5 threads with people asking how to do this. Also, when you unlocked via htcdev, they told you how to relock your device. So, for the sixth time:
Fastboot oem lock
run the RUU
reboot.
Device will say ***RELOCKED*** at the top of the bootloader
Thank you so much for your help!! I have been searching and trying to do this for so long now. The mistake I was making was that I was trying to run the RUU before doing fastboot oem lock.
So, for others like me who end up on this thread to relock their Evo 3D and bring it back to stock (if you've unlocked using HTCdev method and have S-ON):
*) make sure that you have the adb and fastboot files in the folder you are in.
1) from your command line, run "adb reboot bootloader"
2) On your phone you'll see "Fastboot USB"
2) run "fastboot oem lock"
3) You should now see "RELOCKED" on top.
4) Execute the RUU from your computer (I did - RUU_Shooter_S_Sprint_WWE_2.08.651.3_Radio_0.97.10.0808_NV_SPCS_1.31_003_release_219445_signed.exe)
5) Reboot your phone.
Thank you so much Twolazyg!!
What about the rom?
Does this restore the rom to stock if you loaded a custom rom?
Yes.
Locked & Loaded
""shooter on Deck""
The HTC Unlock method didn't do anything for me and I am preparing to flash the 651.3 RUU so that I can try again.
Does the RUU need to be renamed exactly " PG86IMG.zip " inorder to work (like the radio zips)?

The bootloader will only scan/load files from the /sdcard if they are placed in the root and labeled PG86IMG.zip.
The RUU .exe can't be placed in the sdcard, the rom.zip file from inside of the RUU has to be extracted, renamed to PG86IMG.zip and placed in the root of the /sdcard.
Good luck!
Thanks for the info JoeyKrim, beginning to wonder if there are too many posts on here for people to notice and respond to. Created another post at Sdx to keep track of what I find out:
Stock Hboot1.50 RUU 651.3 flash question: http://forum.sdx-developers.com/?topic=18852.0
Here's some of the details from there:
(XDA) TwoLazyG's [GUIDE] Unroot your HTC unlocked EVO 3D (Hboot 1.50 & Stock RUU's)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1388501
(XDA) jdeoxys's [How to] Restore evo 3d to latest stock RUU on hboot 1.5
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1337379
Update: The long filename did nothing. Changed it to PG86IMG.zip, put it on a blank sdcard and booted to Hboot 1.50. It read the file, checked the file, did some stuff, and then I selected "Reboot" and my phone was still the same as I had set it up.
Q: Do I need to format / factory reset first?
I didn't "Relock" since I never got it "unlocked" and I didn't use adb since it read the zip as soon as Hboot started.
Also: Can't figure out how to load/use adb correctly (win7). Did the HTCdev unlock downloads (see below), located and manually copied the 3 files (adb.exe, AdbWinApi.dll, fastboot.exe) over to c:/android folder. No problems with fastboot stuff. Thought I installed android sdk, java, etc correctly, maybe not.

Still not getting anywhere yet with HTC Unlock. Found alternate DL for RUU's and zips (scottsroms) and a how to :
(AndroidCentral) Scrosler's [HOW TO] Return to 100% Stock - All versions!:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/ht...107641-how-return-100-stock-all-versions.html
(ScottsRoms) HTC Evo 3D Stock Roms (RUU's & zips): http://www.scottsroms.com/downloads.php?do=cat&id=4
Apparently the .exe version works from within MsWindows (saw screenshot somewhere) as long as you can boot phone to the android OS with "Debugging" enabled. Otherwise you have to extract the the zip and rename it like JoeyKrim posted above.
Update: Pulled the HTC RUU.exe How to Instructions from the exe file:
HTC Evo3D RUU 651.3 exe Directions.doc : http://www.mediafire.com/?lkryvm4k29hm7g3
The Stock RUU.zip from (ScottsRoms.com) worked once renamed (PG86IMG.zip). It's 400mb vs 399mb for the one from Mr.Esp's post at xda. I put onto sdcard and rebooted to hboot as indicated in Scrosler's post at AndroidCentral from above (see pictures below). May try the exe file another time. Now to try the unlock again. Here's the filenames and MD5's:
RUU_Shooter_S_Sprint_WWE_2.08.651.3_Radio_0.97.10.0808_NV_SPCS_1.31_003_release_219445_signed.zip

MD5: 15D8ED1BB45F85FFA687B86966AC0F01
Update2: That worked! Just needed a good Ruu.zip file it seems.

You have two options:
1. Restore the stock recovery and proceed with the update, it won't do anything but update the system files, it may or may not remove the JB hboot, though I recommend you restore the stock GB hboot since updates tend to cancel when the hboot is higher than the one being installed, which the JB hboot version is set higher so as to prevent any new updates from over writing it.
or
2. Download the stock ICS ruu from the ruu/ota thread and install it via hboot by renaming the file PH85IMG and placing it on your sd card.
No reason to get suspicious, it's okay.

If you're s-off you don't need to lock the bootloader, anyways, don't use that file, look for the ruu/ota collection thread in tue dev forum for the latest file, rename it, make sure it's on the root of your sd card.

You could flash an ruu from bootloader since your s-off. Here's a link for a list of ruu pick the one that says ics shooter 35 s 2.89 1.09.00.0706 spcs wwe to that nature http://www.filefactory.com/f/4ef0ef536face67a/. Just remember to rename the file PG86IMG in all caps and place on the root of your sdcard. Power down your phone, and boot up into bootloader and let your phone detect the file and confirm to update. Next you might want to get a drink or something to eat. It'll take like 10 minutes. Hope that helps

You need to issue the "fastboot oem writescureflag 3" command with the phone in fastboot USB mode after flashing the RUU to reset the S-OFF status to S-ON. Make sure you have the stock bootloader installed before you do that.

The .exe version of the RUU needs to be run from Windows. Make sure your phone is in the "fastboot usb" mode in the bootloader and the "fastboot devices" command returns your serial number before you run the RUU.
There's also a .zip version of the RUU around somewhere on these forums that can be run from the bootloader, but I don't have a link to that. It would be safer to extract it yourself from the RUU.exe using this procedure.

That's the stock bootloader, which was installed by the RUU. Most of the custom bootloaders (Revolutionary, Juopunutbear) have their name where the "*** LOCKED ***" status shows on your phone.

Couple things..
You need to be on hboot 1.58. You can do this by running the 2.89 RUU.
It will also help to get s-off and there's a complete guide on how to do this Here.
if I follow those instructions, would i be able to install the CyanogenMod 10.1? According to the thread, it says i must NOT have hboot 1.58 but I will gain that if I follow those instructions.
i followed the down and dirty instructions and was able to root my phone, have hboot 1.58, and have S-Off. Installed Viper3D with success. Thanks for the help.
Now my next question is...how do you down grade hboot 1.58 to 1.50?

Install the supported Hboot in the bootloader, which is 1.40 I believe.
simply rename the file to PG86IMG and put it in the root of your Sd card.

I tried putting the PG86IMG.zip file with hboot 1.40 on my sd card and rebooting into bootloader, but I get an error message (see attached picture)

Thanks for the reply. I tried that method too and it didn't give me an error message, but when I booted into bootloader it still showed 1.57. Do you remember if you were locked when you downgraded? I think I read somewhere that you had to be but I don't really want to try it because relocking my phone will wipe everything.

I'm not sure where you got the hboot you are trying to flash but it looks like it's only setup for the Sprint CID and not Virgin Mobile.
Since you are already S-OFF you can follow the procedure in this guide and the hboots linked from that post are setup for both Sprint and VM CID's.
