A few ?'s Juopunut bear S-OFF AND NOT ROOTED - HTC Amaze 4G

I know I have probably came across the answer BUT I just want to double triple check before doing anything. I tend to look to deep into things and make it harder than it needs to be. SO PLEASE DO NOT BE RUDE!

1) I am on gingerbread. S-OFF but not rooted. I have a T-mobile OTA update for ICS. Can I download safely?
What I was going to do is just download that and un-root it the same way I did when doing the S-OFF process. Can't it just be that easy!
2) If not is this the correct way that will work with JUOPUNUT bear?

OR stop looking so deep into it. Root it as gingerbread, flash recovery, download rom (after wiping...LOL)

You have two options:
1. Restore the stock recovery and proceed with the update, it won't do anything but update the system files, it may or may not remove the JB hboot, though I recommend you restore the stock GB hboot since updates tend to cancel when the hboot is higher than the one being installed, which the JB hboot version is set higher so as to prevent any new updates from over writing it.
or
2. Download the stock ICS ruu from the ruu/ota thread and install it via hboot by renaming the file PH85IMG and placing it on your sd card.
No reason to get suspicious, it's okay.

Ok sooo.... Bare with me please...
I locked the bootloader.
HBOOT is now 1.90.2005.
I flashed an OTA/RUU after that, and renamed it to PH85IMG (did not add .zip just an easy r click rename). It went through the upload/download (whatever ya wanna call it!) In hboot
Rebooted aaanddd I am still on GB
I used the OTA from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1575550&highlight=stock+ics+ruu and followed the 2nd post for the leaked ota....
I AM missing something. Somewhere down the line. Or wrong RUU? Suggestions? I am going to be back tomorrow to work on this.
Thanks again guys

If you're s-off you don't need to lock the bootloader, anyways, don't use that file, look for the ruu/ota collection thread in tue dev forum for the latest file, rename it, make sure it's on the root of your sd card.

I FINALLY got it ... Thanks guys for your help!

HELP Needed!

So my rezound is stuck in Hboot, only boots to Hboot. I tried the update yet again and this time it is really screwed up. I can't flash anything in adb commands/fastboot commands. My Hboot screen reads:
Unlocked

I tried re-flashing a different Hboot, that would not take. Could not flash recovery, and it fails every time I try to flash the RUU, either 3.14.605.12 0r the either of the new 4.xxx.xxx.xx.
Any help would be nice, Thanks
edit: When I try to flash firmware or RUU it starts to update, but it says Fail-PU next to everything. When I try to flash from command prompt it says image update error

Your hboot is not showing any radio???
Start fresh with a new download:
Go here: http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...ull-ruu-build-4-03-605-2-for-the-htc-rezound/ and download the latest RUU. Place it on your sd card, check MD5, and rename it to ph98img.zip . Reboot into bootloader and it should flash it.

Tried it and it did not work. Still Fail-PU next to everything. The only thing that is successful is #16 TP.
If you are reinstalling a Leak RUU you need to relock your bootloader.
troy7548 is right. Relock your bootloader and the latest RUU should flash fine (I'd do the most up-to-date one). Since you are S-OFF you don't need your BL unlocked. After you've gotten the RUU installed and everything boots, Delete the zip from your card then flash this firmware:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1843030
This will give you the latest firmware but re-enable fastboot commands on the locked S-OFF bootloader.

Please help Unrooting :(

So I rooted my HTC Rezound a months ago, since ICS didn't launch when I wanted it to lol..Any way I decided I want to unroot my phone so I can trade it in on a new one. I followed the guidelines a user posted on XDA to the T and I keep getting either a message failed my version is newer or older than the one im installing? I did however download a ICS fake update before I rooted and wasn't sure if that has anything to do with it. As of right now I am stuck in the Bootloader screen I can not do anything. Please help, I need this phone for work since I am supposed to be On Call everyday. If you need any numbers from the bootloader screen I am sure I have them memorized lol.
Unrooting Guide I followed
Was here in XDA
The easiest way I've found to re-lock your rezound is to download the attached "tools.zip" and extract to your desktop.
Boot your rezound into fastboot by removing your battery, putting the battery back in, holding down on the volume rocker and power. Then plug your rezound into your computer. Assuming you used your computer to unlock the rezound then you should already have the required drivers.
Open command prompt and enter the following:
cd C:\Users\[Your Name Here]\desktop\tools
Then run the command
fastboot oem lock
Your bootloader is now locked and ready to begin restoring stock recovery and rom from Stock RUU.
2. Downloading the stock RUU
*Will Update As New RUU's Are Released*
2.02.605.11 STOCK RUU EXE
download
1.02.605.6 STOCK RUU EXE
download
(will add PH98IMG.zip download for 2nd method soon)
You can do this one of two ways. You can use the exe ruu which i like to use, its simple straight forward and guides you through the process
-or-
Extract the RUU zip from the exe or download from XDA its all over.
Rename the zip PH98IMG.ZIP put on root of SD card and boot into HBOOT hit
yes with appropriate volume key and let it do its thing.
I personaly perfer running the exe. Makes life easy. But whatever floats your boat.
SIDE NOTE: IF YOU WISH TO ROOT AGAIN
the one click root tool might not work properly and will not have proper permision to install SU, If this happens flash amon through fastboot. And under development section install su / superuser, you are now rooted again

[Q] help to run CM10 on JBear hboot 1.58

Hi I've search all the threads for directions on how to downgrade to hboot 1.5. I would like to know how to do that, as well as a link to the actual bootloader download. I want to run a stock jelly bean rom (CM10) on my Evo 3D but my current settings won't allow it. Are there any other roms that would work with my settings or do I need to downgrade my bootloader? Any advice will help

You need to downgrade your hboot but since you're s-off, it's easy. Download one from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30014044
Rename to PG86IMG.zip and place on root of SD card. Boot into bootloader and flash it. Delete the file from the card (I use my computer) then boot into recovery and flash cm10.

Thanks for the link, do I need to download the regular Hboot 1.50 or the JBear 1.50?...I'm new at this so I apologize if this is a dumb question. To flash if from the bootloader do I need to connect to the computer and type any commands from the cmd terminal? If so could you please give me a detailed step by step. Thanks

[Q] Upgrading to 3.16 from Stock-rooted 3.15 with old baseband, S-ON

I have read pages and pages from the Android Development forum for the HTC Evo 4G LTE and I can't seem to find a solution that works for me because going S-OFF or re-locking bootloader and loading RUU does not seem feasible for my situation.
The phone has custom recovery (TWRP) and we successfully loaded Viperboy's deodexed 3.15 stock ROM.
Baseband is 1.02.12.0427 (super outdated)
This phone was bought second hand and is a HTC dev unlocked phone, S-ON
I would like to update the baseband to 1.12.11.1200 and update the firmware to 3.16
Caveats: I don't have access to the phone, my friend can reload custom ROMs through TWRP, but beyond that I don't think we can go through Dirty Racun and S-Off, I don't know how we can easily check the HBOOT version to determine if the HBOOT version is 1.12
What would happen if we accepted the Sprint OTA? Are we SOL with the baseband because we are S-ON?
Is there any way we can get on MeanBean 3 or stock rooted 3.16?
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
I wouldnt accept the OTA update to 3.16
I actually did just that when I relocked my phone on Saturday and had all sort of problems after that. Now, I'm not too sure you would even be able to install the update being that your phone is unlocked *citation needed*.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2135670 - talks about the 3.16 OTA problems
thanks, I've definitely advised my friend to stay away from the OTA and disregard it. I think we are experiencing call/wifi issues due to the old baseband. I wonder what are the next possible steps to move forward from here...

1. Stay on this baseband and deal with it.
2. Relock and RUU your way up to 3.15 (stay away from 3.16)
3. S-off and Flash a couple full firmware zips.
Sadly I think those are your only option. And to check your hboot just boot into bootloader. Hold volume down when powering on.

Thanks, I think that seems realistic, I'm concerned that if I relock through HTCDev, I read that some email/password might go to the original seller of the phone (ebay) for confirmation code, so I don't want to get stuck halfway
I am definitely crossing my fingers for HBoot v1.12, to confirm, once I check my version in the bootloader, I guess I can escape without taking any of the menu options (checking YouTube, I'll just go to recovery, enter TWRP, reboot, system).

Relocking the phone is done through fastboot on the computer. Nothing to do with HTC. And Dev unlocked means you get an unlock token from HTC to the email that you signed up with. So if you make your own account on HTC dev and request a token, it should send nothing to the other owner.
And sorry, but I don't understand what you mean by having Hboot 1.12. You mean only flashing the radio through recovery? If that's what you mean than I can't help with that. Not sure how that works or if there are problems with that.
great news! I had someone take screen shots of the HBoot (v.1.12.0000) and TWRP (v2.2.1) menu
Bootloader shows:

So as far as I know, I'm going to make sure there's nothing wrong with the TAMPERED, and then I can flash 1.12.11.1210 through Captain_Throwbacks Radio Only zip and then looks for a 3.16 custom firmware compatible with S-On since I'm on build number 3.15.651.16 CL124461.
I'd appreciate anyone to chime in if I'm going down a bad path here. Cheers!

You've indeed unlocked the bootloader properly but this only let's you flash recoveries and custom roms. You have to S-OFF the phone to update firmware via bootloader. You're other option would be to RUU which would upgrade the firmware and software and that CAN be done with S-ON, however there is a problem with the update which disables touch input so you should either wait for a dev to make custom 3.16 rom and forget about the firmware OR wait for a fix from HTC and run that RUU whenever it comes out.

Thanks xlxcrossing! I messaged Captain for a a recovery flash for the baseband only and he said my approach is no good either. So seems like I have to RUU to get off 1.12 anyways since LazyPanda is not supported and DirtyRacun starts at 1.15
So I am looking at the UNLIMITED.IO site now
step 1) relock via fastboot
step 2) RUU 1.15 or 1.19 (so this means my firmware/software/hboot will be updated as well?)
From here if I stop, I will be S-ON so I can...
option 1) RUU 2.09 and stay on 3.15
option 2) unlock bootloader from HTCDev and stay S-ON
option 3) unlock bootloader from HTCDev and DirtyRacun S-OFF (which actually seems like a very simple process once unlocked)

The advice is free....the bandwidth, not so much
Just wanted to say thank you all for the support and advice.
I finally walked my friend over gtalk and successfully achieved S-OFF after relock, 1.15 RUU, unlock with HTC DEV, dirtyracun
Then updated full firmwares incrementally to 3.16
Then while trying to load MeanBean, realized we lost TWRP (and possibly root, need to confirm), I can only guess that went away with the RUU? That's not really documented anywhere unless that's a known thing.
TWRP installation via goomanager failed (maybe due to lack of root), I was able to find TWRP v2.3.1 bootloader, installed that and installed MeanBean 3.0.4
I think that makes us up to date, however we will likely install SuperSU via TWRP once we customize and ensure the phone is running smoothly.
Thanks again all!
Super su is included with the ROM

[Q] EVO 3D CDMA hboot 1.58 how to downgrade to 1.5

Hello all,
First off, this is my first post, so if I posted in the wrong location please forgive me.
I have a EVO 3D CDMA (Sprint) phone. I am currently running hboot 1.58 S-OFF (juopunutbear) and MeanRom ICS, with 4ext recovery 1.0.0.5 RC9. Performance is terrible (lagging when playing games and even typing messages), and there are several features missing in ICS that I used in Gingerbread (call duration, message count, screen snapshots, etc).
I would like to downgrade to MeanRom on Gingerbread, with hboot 1.5 and TWRP recovery. I've already done some research so I need confirmation:
If I use bootloader:
To downgrade the hboot from 1.58 to 1.5, do I rename the hboot 1.5 to pg86img.zip, put the zip in the root file of the SD card, boot into bootloader and let the phone detect the zip file? I understand that the file has to be deleted after the phone is updated, how do I do that?
Once the hboot is downgraded, will 4ext still work, or do I have to change/upgrade it right away? Do I just run the 2.17 RUU to reset the phone to Gingerbread?
Also, can this be done via fastboot? If so, how?
I know these questions have been asked before, but I haven't seen any posts with my exact configuration. If there are any posts, please let me know.
Thanks for any help you have to offer.

If you're s- off you can do whatever you want. First - to downgrade h-boot just rename that h-boot zip to PG86IMG.zip and put it on root of your sd card. Then go to your bootloader and just follow prompts to flash new h-boot. When that's done, you don't need adb or anything like that. You can do everything directly on your phone
