[Q] Galaxy Ace 2 Flash to Stock HELP! - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Help me guys - please just clarify, the 1 .tar.md5 file found when the stock package is unzipped goes into which box?
bootloader pda phone or csc??
I ask because my girlfriend has upgraded from a galaxy pro - so from froyo to gingerbread. She restored all apps and data via titanium backup and her froyo sms app has overwritten her gingerbread one, i tried reinstalling google apps after deleting the froyo version but it didnt work, (not sure if i flashed the official ones or the cyanogenmod ones, nothing on the internet i could find gave a clear definition between the two, it didnt fully install because of a lack of signature or something) any way that is why im sat here now waiting for the answer to the question at the top.
Any help would earn my eternal gratitude. Breaking your own phone is one thing but someone elses would be a nightmare. :|

[Q] Help me decide which rom to choose?

Hi guys,
I really need your experience help now. I can't decide which ROM to use for my Ace. I've been using 2.2.1 Froyo, and I decided to upgrade to 2.3.4 KPH. Then I realized that there is lockscreen lag and was really slow. One friend suggested me to use GingerReal 1.1.0 to solve the problem with lockscreen lag and speed, and I upgrade with this custom ROM, but it had a billion of custom stuffs in it, that I don't really understand and use (Tweaks, ext4, QQ launcher, etc.). So I reverted back to my stock Froyo, and started to read here. 3 days I've been reading, and finally decided to put the latest 2.3.3 KPO ROM (LUXKP1). Everything went smooth, but now I can see that my Ace is really slow, lockscreen lag takes ages to show. Otherwise it's really clean ROM, nothing unnecessary pre-installed and contains only the most important apps in it.
Now, I really want to fix that speed and lockscreen lag problem, and I'm thinking to upgrade to KPN. What's your advise to me? Is KPN fast and no lockscreen lag and also - SOD with stock ROM (i'm not planing to use custom ROM for now)?
Also which KPN to choose - 0OXXKP7 or XEUKP1? And at last but not at least what apps pre-installed contains this ROM? Some unnecessary stuffs like those mentioned above? And is it pre-routed?
Thanks in advance, and sorry for my bad English...
We cannot make this decision for you, you'll have to do it yourself. The only way to find out is to try different firmwares, until you find the one that you think is the best.
What I CAN tell you is the following: I've had both KPN and KPO on my device, and I did not notice any difference between them. They were both stable and pretty fast. They have the screen unlock-lag, but think this is not a really big problem, since it only takes ~0.5/1 second.
None of the apps you noted in your post will be included on those firmwares, since these are original samsungfirmwares and not modded ones. Therefore it is not pre-rooted either.
Just going to put it out there. My rom my ui is kpn based it does use tencent launcher witch is simular to miui/iphone. Theres a test out now thats fully working and the complete rom will be out soon. Its really simple and easy to use, but very different to the stock rom. Your call. . .

Thanks for the answers. I'll give a try at KPN.
@jusada, I'll test your ROM soon, and will see if it's compatible with my Ace style
Thanks again you both
Try other custom ROMs when you have free time. You might find one of them that fits you.

Damned... I bricked my phone, because of KPN. I downloaded the S5830OXXKP7 and loaded it to Odin. It's one package file, so I clicked START, and... the download failed. I suppose that my phone must have some 2.3.3 Android before flashing KPN S5830OXXKP7... But it was 2.2.1 Froyo, and it bricks.
Now I'm downloading KPO 'cause I know it's full package, and will try to unbrick it...
Damned! How did you install KPN???

Calm down, i get this issue too. Flash back to 2.2.1 it will fix it. Then flash kpn. Trust me you'll be fine. You'll find 2.2.1 at samfirmware.com

I am curious how you did it. Did you use a Copper.ops file? You need it always when flashing firmwares.

1.excellent battery backup(high priority)
2.darktremors apps2sd with no hassles

Yes, of course. If I didn't use .ops, my "One Package" field is not active even when "One Package" radio button is marked...
I don't know how I bricked my phone - I loaded all files in Odin (the ROM .tar and the .ops file), and clicked on start button - the usual stuff when u flash new rom, step by step were accomplished. And then... BANG, stays on step number 3 at Odin, for about 2 hours... The counter shows that estimated time imo, is about 3-4 more hours, judging by that the green bar wasn't reach even the half way to end... And after that the connection drops, my phone says "Download failed" and... that was all...
Thanks God, I could go to download mode again, and I flashed back 2.2.1 and then KPO Full Package ROM, and my phone is still alive
But... it's slow... and still got the lockscreen lag, and I'm thinking to flash some custom ROM, because of speed...

for me the solution was using cwm to mount the sd card and then boot it. it recognised it long enough for me to reflash it to froyo

Dont use KIES? Why do you even use it?
Save contacts information? Use google contacts.
Sync music? Use doubletwist or manually move music.
Update? Use ODIN.
Somebody should create a thread saying KIES is only good for your device drivers, absolutely useless and anything else.
First of all, what is ODIN? smth like KIES or wut? and second of all i want to upgrade my phone to 2.3.5, simple as that, without installing manually.

Agree
Second if you dont now what odin is and you dont have a update via kies then tour should just wait because if you dont know what you are doing, while flashing with odin you van just as wel go and throw your phone out of a moving car: same chance of making it beter

You dont know what odin is, but still you are using a custom rom? This is why custom roms are not for people who dont know what they are doing...
What you need to do to get kies working again is:
- flash a multi-csc firmware for your area using odin (and make sure it is not a single file firmware)
- change csc-code to match your exact area
- use kies
- dont flash custom roms

hahaha... ya..ya..ya... agree with pähkinä
please learn first before take further action using custom rom
as optional, you can visit samfirmware for learning flasing rom with odin. you can also find what odin is here
like some one mention in some product launching: "you must become computer expert to use android, while this product is very easy to use"... but I hate that product...

Yes, same for me. I wanna go back to stock roms and kies says: cant update... And yes, i know what odin is >.>
After trying ALL the custom roms (exept miui. Realy want to try that out) I wanna go back to stock. Cus the only thing I do is messeging, whatsapp, mango, youtube and snappzmarket. I became lame ._.
Can anyone tell me what multi csc is? ^^"
Im from the netherlands
Wanna go back to froyo
From personal experience I know that the European multi csc includes the Dutch files. (btw why Froyo? wouldn't it be better to go gb?)

[Q] [NEED] Three UK 2.3.3 ROM [NEED]

I installed the wobbish CM9 KING rom which lags to much and I lost my 2.3.3 UK THREE rom does anyone have it so I put it back on my phone and kies doesn't work because im on windows 8 developer preview.
This is so stupid over 150 views but no replys.
Just grab the 2.3.3 rom from sammobile.com - the advantage of using stock is that it is unlocked. 3 lock all of their phones, and I wouldn't be suprized if they were using CarrierIQ.
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda premium
But three has an update I want 2.3.6
Dont think youll find it anywhere! I looked everywhere.
You have several options:-
1 - Install a CWM backup (if you made one - dont forget to format the filesystem back)
2 - Flash froyo and get kies to update.
3- flash directly 2.3.6 which can be found on sammobile.com there is virtually no difference in that and the 3 branded version. (the extra apps can be downloaded from market)
having spoken to 3 on numerous occasions they do tweak the firmware a little but dont lock it.
I was in the same position.. Three wont give out their rom so I told them to stuff themselves. I went and flashed 2.3.3 XEU and it works perfectly. No Three bloatware, I used to have a backup but deleted it because my CSC was stuck on FOP for no reason whatsoever.. Hope I helped. XEU really is the way to go For repairs I think you can still go to Samsung with it. P.s. Rickywyatts HTC style rom is based on 3's rom

Any Advice

Hi all,
im new to this so please forgive me if this question has already been posted previously!
Ive been searching for countless hours on the web and different forums to try and find a solution!
My prob is this,
I rooted my fone using Odin and what i thought was a proper CFW but once i downloaded ROM manager off the Google store and tried to install the latest cyanogenmod 9, i constantly keep getting a message coming up saying "E: failed to verify whole package signature"
Firstly, I am confused whether to downgrade back to stock firmware and then try to upgrade from that; or, find a way to upgrade to cynanogenmod 9 straight from what i have installed ATM.
My fone specs are:
Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100P
Android 2.3.4
Baseband: I9100PBVK12
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-I9100BVKH2-CL453351
[email protected] #2
Build number
Gingerbread.BVK13
Can someone please help me out with this in plain english as i am constantly running into a brick wall trying to figure it out!!!
Many Thanks

Where does it say anything about ROM manager?
What did you use to root your phone? Also can you get into cwm recovery by holding down volume up, home and power buttons when u turn your phone on?
I see you have the i9100p, I'm afraid I know nothing about that version but this will help people pinpoint the problem
sorry guys i used Rom Manager to download latest version of CWM
Rom manager on Samsung phone uses a kind of virtual recovery from what I understand.
You have to have flashed a root kernel which I'm guessing you have as you say you used Odin. What did you flash with Odin?

Not to sure what i flashed with as it was quite a while ago, i following http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1419102 to try an install CM9 now lol the noob proof edition
OK so I had a read and the i9100p is the same as the i9100 only with nfc see here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1480245
Ok this should work for you.
-Download cm9 resurrection edition from the official thread + the latest nightly and put the nightly on you internal SD.
-Flash cm9 resurrection edition via Odin as per instructions.
- when its booted up, turn your phone off and enter recovery using the combo I mention above.
- flash zip from SD and pick the latest nighty.
Should get you up to speed, good luck

Thanks a bunch mate! Appreciate u helpin!
ive read that its not wise to use titanium backup to restore a backup after installing cm9, is this true?
No problem
If you use titanium for user apps only and not system apps you won't have to much of a problem. But other than that if you do find problems with apps after restore just a wipe of the app data from settings should do the trick.

ok thank u!
big problem tho, i was flashing with odin and its froze about 3/4 of thw way through, have i bricked it??
I'm honestly not sure ive never had that happen to me.
Are you sure its just not taking longer than expected? I'm out atm so I can't have a search for you but if I remember right there is a 'have I bricked my phone' sticky on one of the s2 forums you might find some advise there. Sorry I can't help more

Store mobile back to original state

Hey everyone, new member here.
I need your help!
I need to restore a Samsung Galaxy SII back to its original stock ROM (back to the way it was out of the box).
A custom ROM was installed (not my doing) which began to stuff up the phone and I need to restore it back. This is for a friend of mine and they have no idea how to do it. I have some idea but I am lost. I have had a look around on the forums here and read through some tuts and found the firmware page but have NO IDEA which firmware I need and which ROM. Do I need firmware and a stock ROM? I know I need to hook the mobile up to the PC and run the stuff through a program.
Can someone here lend me a hand? I am not sure what ROM is on but I can check for you if you need me to have a look in the "about phone". There is also a file installed on the mobile called CWM which I have no idea what that is.
What I have to do:
1) Get rid of the yellow caution sign when the mobile boots up
2) Restore the entire mobile to original
Please be nice as I am new here and new to flashing roms and all that sort of stuff.
Thank you.
I would grab original firmware from sammobile the install with odin or mobile odin.
Many detailed guides about for both methods

Cool, I am downloading the firmware now.
I have also downloaded the new version of Odin.
Is the firmware the same as a ROM or are they 2 separate files I need and does it include the kernel?
Not sure if it has the stock kernel or not.
I just installed triangle away.
Do I use this app after I flash my mobile back to original ROM or before?
Before. You need root for it to work.
