i belive it is prossible, we do not just find a suitable way.
some phone can use Custom MTD partition to resize, such as HTC Chacha.
i use the same way for ray, but i do not success.
i want to use another way, use a ftf fireware with resized partition, but i do not find a suitable fireware.

LG GT540 can be resized system + data partitions, but the tool is not suitable Ray.

I don't think this will work on the ray. I seem to remember that somebody was resizing the partitions on the Arc, so you may want to check in that forum...but I am sure that messing with your partitions is one of the ways you can brick your phone. Plus, if you are ever planning on moving to jellybean, you definately want to keep the system paritiion big. If the goal is to free up space in your data partition then you probably want to set up App2SD or link2SD...you can also set up a swap and use part of your sd card as internal memory...but you need a really good SDcard or it will lag like crazy....

Well i had done that on my old HTC wildwire(buzz) so it aint impossible.
So what is fixed in the factory is fixed? we cant expand or shrink a partition like a hdd? just asking..
I know that on the Neo it is possible with stock files, because the twin phone Neo V has different partition size. We can just use Flashtool for it. But I wouldn't recommend it with much safer methods like link2sd available. You can also use apps like Titanium backup to batch move apps to /system.

Saw this method on another thread and just wanted to give more view because it's really easy and worked flawlessly on my rooted mini jit enabled.
Just download the .apk of move2sd and install after patitionning the sd card; for partition i used mini tootl partition wizard from here:
My sd card is class 2 and all works like a charm!
Credits to bakpinar who developped the tool and sur1k that told abut it on the mini forum.
EDIT: Updated to last version 1.5.x
cheers

Good effort "rikirix". Link to the original thread by the maker of the app "Bakpinar" is here.
@Tehouster
It is convenient and may be better (I haven't tried apps2SD) than apps2sd.
1) It allows to choose which apps to link to SDcard. Doesn't allow system apps though and one don't need that too.
2)The app is convenient to install & use. No command line. Simple install ".apk".
3)Can move any user installed apps from phone to SD card and vice versa at any point time through the app.
4) Working very well in my x10 mini (with latest firmware) with 16gb class2 Sandisk card with 800mb ext2 partition.
5) Constant upgrades by the developer.
6) No need to have a clean install of firmware in phone and no need to format card for making ext2 partition. Can use partition manager to resize and create a fresh ext2 partition in existing phone firmware.
The app is worth trying and will make x10 mini a bit more usuable in absence of Froyo.

The title of your post is so understated.. it should be in capitals and in bold! I almost missed it!!
Some one sticky this bad boy above all the Apps2SD rubbish, this is as close as we will ever get to Froyo Apps 2 SD and its just what I have been waiting for! tested on the mini and its working sweeet!

nope.. that one is as obsolete as the X10 family now.. who would use that old archaic method anymore? now that you can select what you want on SD and what you want on internal memory!!!

As you suggested i've put "easy" in capital letters......
O Lord! And I Just DESTROYED my phone by trying app2sd... Wifi is giving me errors. TitBackup says the phone is not rooted anymore and now i see this thread! If only i had seen it before...
Now i'll have to reflash and loose all my settings... :/
tryed it works great.
the whole title needs to be in capitals.
also i think it should be in the develop section.
i tryed different scripts of app2sd some never worked .the one that worked slow down my whole phone i gave up.then i saw this thread..................
thanks to both the maker of the apk and the poster who pointed it out.
This work, Its much easier than app2sd, though you need to restart everytime you link an app, but still works like a charm. Moved Angrybird to sd without a hitch..
Thanks.

It seems that this thread its not getting proper focus. You may change the caption to a more catchy one like "MOVE ANY USER INSTALLED APP TO SD CARD" or similar.
Moreover, I would request the MODs to move this thread to themes and app section which appears more appropriate. Most of the users are still running behind apps2sd, I don't know whether its intentional or ignorance. Anyway we may try to help more mini/pro users by trying to highlight this thread.
Thx for the link! Got it working on my X10 mini pro! Awesome!
i have used and it is nice but the problem is that you cannot install apps directly to sd, for larger games like NFS shift it is a problem.

Didn't know that. However, the advantages of Link2SD surpasses the disadvantages for me. May be some more problems (like yours) will be taken care of as the app gets upgraded. At least lets hope so. Even, I learnt from some Froyo user (in the original thread) that Froyo doesn't support HS Widget once the app is moved to SD card whereas this app cooly supports HS widgets. Great!
Hi there
After switching back to gingerbread i found out that the ICS system apps, and maybe some other system files? still was left on my Neo
In system/vender/app and holds about 42,4 megabytes.
I tried to delete those files, But it seems like i have no right.
Can someone give some tip here?
How to format the whole internal phone storage?
Or how to connect to delete it?
Would be great to have those extra MB back
Edit: I tried root explorer, manage to remove the App folder inside the vendor folder. But the extra mb will not show up? Any ideas
Thanks!
You restored, flash a full ftf before restoring. Ics made some partition changes for mt15 only.

Try repair phone option in PC suite.
no if you flashing back to GB then you probarly get force close etc
Now we have Safestrap 3 and the Webtop partition is totally unused. There are 1,3 GB of unused storage what we could use for another stuff. I am thinking about using it as an extra app storage for one Safestrap slot, or maybe as an backup location. What do you think and how can we realise that? Maybe mounting it via script / init.d?
btw: I guess the dev section is the right place for this request, otherwise I am sorry
I think, we need to completely repartition all partitions, because too much space used by system - how much of the system 8 gb is really used on cm10 ROM? =(

That's impossible because of the locked bootloader.
System needs about 600mb. The rest of the space is used by Apps, Apps-data and your personal stuff like pics, music and downloads etc.
f****cking locked bootloader... sorry for the noob question but... this is a hardware issue isn't it? i mean, there is no way that motorola under its new management from google changes it's mind and give us a method for un-locking it?
The bl lock is related to the e-fuses, and it's kind of "inverted" because it is a broken e-fuse which keeps the bootloader locked. The only way to unlock it is an unlock tool from Moto which decrypts the encryption (and no, it's not possible to decrypt it with your home computer, that would take "some time"!)
Back to topic! No idea anyone?
@Whirleyes: Do you plan to use the webtop partition in your upcoming bootmenu?

If its possible I suggest to use its partition for webtop V2 .hack webtop 2 and make it works with ICS
webtop partition? maybe for another slot- or backup
or ubuntu
Whirleyes want to use it for new bootmenu version (userdata). It's too small for a full rom slot (600mb = system; 1GB = data (minimum); 200mb = cache (minimum) ---> 1800mb). Webtop has 1.3 gb. So it's good for userdata I think. But I think about Safestrap 3 users. It would be sad to waste that space..
Hello everyone,
I've (CF) rooted my S3 only to move app data to my extSD card. The official stock firmware (JB 4.1.1) is still on it, and i would like to keep it that way (serves me good). I've tried directory bind and Link2SD.
Both of the apps don't work (or i'm to much of a noob to get it going)!
Directory bind just moves files from one location, but when i start the app, it gives me a error (in this case, tomtom).
Also the alternative management options in this app, dont give me tools to "bind".
Link2SD makes links (on the second partition of the ext.sd) but doesn't want to move the app data to the first partition of the ext.sd The error is "insufficient storage space", but there is over 27gb of (fat32) free space. The second extsd partition is 2gb of ext4.
Am I doing something wrong, or is the official stock FW just not up to the task?
Greetings, RedKingCrab
apps to ext sd
Ho Bro,
i have the same problem, but as i know this is some new bull**** in the System or maybe just on Samsung devices.
The only app wich is more ore less useful is the "GL to SD"..

Thanks for the tip!
It seems that some versions are not well supported yet. Maybe in a couple of monts it will. I'll try again later on, including GL to SD.
So i've unrooted my S3 allready, because rooting it gave me troubles installing manual apps!
If I manualy wanted to install a apk file, i got an error (not enough memory )

Did you manage to figure this out?
Were you creating both partitions as primary?
What app did you wind up using: Link2SD or GLtoSD?
cheers

Sorry bro, didn't get it to work on stock fw.
Because of time issues i haven't been able to figure this problem out. I've unrooted the phone and flashed back with original stock.
Maybe its the way you created your partitions.
Try this link if you ever decide to go back and experiment:

Just use directory bind apk search here in xda this works perfectly for s3

Hi!
I have a problem in LG G2 mini of my brother!
He have make upgrade by wifi to Lollipop but he see that System Data
is too big 3,76Gb.
I have tryed to update with LG Flash Tool two times but System Data
increase to 4,11Gb.
How can I resolve that?
The phone is original, still under warranty and never root that.
Is a solution?
I have set twenty LG G2 Mini and this is the only one that have this
problem.
Thanks to everything.
On KitKat, it only shows user accessible space (a little less than 4GB).
On Lollipop, it shows the whole storage chip (8GB), including the ~4GB taken up by the system.
I am gonna be as clear as I can:
You cannot take that space back, as it is required for the system to work!

That won't change anything. (You need root anyway)
System apps are stored on the system partition ( /system ) which by itself is 2GB and you can't change its size without root. However, even if you had root, it is very dangerous and the stock Lollipop ROM leaves ~30MB free on it, so the system would brake (and you would end up with a soft-bricked phone).
The other 2GB are taken by other partitions, all of which are required and you can't reduce their size.
Sorry

Ok, thanks for the reply. But it's strange that in my smartphone there isn't this separation, while in 4 smartphone I noticed it but of different sizes. Why different sizes? Strange...can you tell me also that my curiosity ?
2 gigs for system folder, 700 mb for cache. Plus some folders between 200 and 500. Maybe some carrier chances using or not these folders. Would need to look further to find the reason.

You need root.
Simply delete /data/dalvik-cache
BTW, it will free a lot of space.

Delete everything under /data/dalvik-cache and then reboot immediately!
If the system needs any of those files, it will recreate them on boot.
