Hey,
first question:
You are able to get in download mode? (volume down + home button + power button)
If yes, be cool
So when u are able, flash a stock Rom with "re-partition".
This means also that you must have a stock Rom with 3 files (or sometimes more), but not the one .tar file.
If you've done this, your phone should work normal.
Then try to root again with the right "cf-root" for the android version, you flashed.
Good luck!

Just out of curiosity: I always read, you should never select "re-partition".
Why do you suggest this here right now for a StockRom?
Thanks in advance.

What I have read it only works if pit file is available, but even then re-partition should not be used. And a one-file tar generally contains the same files (phone, modem, csc) as the three-file-combo.
That's why I'm so confused.
Im honestly glad you guys know what your talking about

The .pit file is only needed by three-file-combo.
Then you can check also the repartition.
If you have one file .tar, the .pit-file is senseless and never should check repartition.
Sure in one file you have nearly the same "files" like in three, but in three-file they can be written separatly on right partition.
Mates don't get me wrong but just accept it
I'm not a dev or scripter but but flashed a lot.
Never bricked my phone but often hanging in bootloop and so on.
And like you see the way with re-partition can help.
I Never flashed a stock Rom since I had my SGS II, but like I said I'm flashing a lot and I had the SGS before, too
Hope all question are answered.
If not pls ask devs for more info.
But that's the general things I can tell you

Wrong, you can use it with both single tarball archive or with the 3 component tarball. You don't need to repartition the device unless you need to change the partition layout for whatever reason or you've damaged your partition layout.

1) Right, he damaged it so he needed it.
2) No you shouldn't use it by one file flash!
Read threads and experiences from users which have probs after flashing like this if at all possible to flash.
But however I don't wanna say anybody how to flash.

Easiest way to install the ROM achieve root and CWM recovery:
(make sure your battery is over 50%)
Download the firmware
extract the files and rename the tar.md5 files to .tar (remove the .md5 part)
Download Philz rooted kernel
Download Mobile Odin
copy all the files to your phone
Install mobile odin
open it and let it check for missing files
if u are using the free version u will need to download the flash kernel from chainfire's thread
In Mobile Odin:
go to Open file browse to the folder you copied files in and select the CODE_I9100XXLSJ file
go to Open file again and browse to CSC file do the same for the modem file
Now go to Open file and select Philz kernel
Select wipe data and dalvic cache to avoid running in any errors
this way mobile odin will flash this kernel rather than the stock non rooted kernel
Flash the firmware
your phone will reboot into mobile odin's special recovery and will flash the firmware
the phone will reboot some times just done worry leave it on table
After the phone boots pat your self on the back for doing a good job and thank Samsung for finally providing a good stock firmware since the gingerbread days

This may sound like a silly question, but how do you rename the files?
I ask because I'm trying to flash this via Odin, and it says invalid hash or something.
I'm sure this is related to Odin showing the PDA file as .tar.md5
I have exacted the file, and then tried renaming the file on windows desktop, but Odin still sees this as .tar.md5 and then when I start I get the above error.
Secondly, seems I only had to exact the PDA file, for the CSC and Modem files did not need exacting, is this right?
I've used Odin heaps of times before, but I feel hopeless this time...

.PIT File
Sorry if the below point has already been covered. I only have 1 doubt:
1. Currently, my S2 has no free space in system/app (happened post the wrong 4.0.4 saga). So, please tell me if I need to use the PIT file too. As I dont want any more 0 space in system/app. I tried to ask it in the regular posts but no one could give me a concrete solution. May be, since here it is less of a ruckus, I might actually be able to increase my system/app folder memory.:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:

1) Its your wish actually. Take it and test.
2) For rooting, CF Auto-Root. Available for HOX?? O__O Well if you meant SGS3, then PhilZ recovery is pretty good. Check the original development forum. Install the drivers prior to all this. You can get the drivers from the Unified Toolkit in the original development section. Or you can search Google.
3) Well, IMEI is stored in /efs/ partition. Using root explorer, you can find it. I had backed it up using SGS3 Unified Toolkit.
There is a tool here on XDA for your PC, you have the option to backup your EFS folder on your PC or internal storage.

A first nandroid if your original rom is always good to keep, just in case.
For flashing Roms have a look in the Q+A section's FAQ thread, anything included in detail and YouTube also got some videos for flashing Roms.
You need to reset the counter in case you want to go back to factory original status e.g. For warranty claims. Another situation for instance is if you got an allshare cast dongle which somehow registers if the counter is not 0 and then will not work.

You can also use adb as your used to before. With triangle away be careful and read chainfires thread carefully. I personally didn't use triangle away, the exclamation mark at the beginning doesn't annoy me and I don't use for e.g. an aircast dongle. When you have a warranty case it is better to go back to stock and reset the flash counter via triangle away method

UPDATE: Based on feedback it seems we need a talented dev to write a script which could be run from windows via ADB shell or even better a CWM zip which could run the parted utility from recovery to resize the system partition to shrink it's size and relocate this to the data partition.
If this can be done via a CWM zip safely without risking critical boot/recovery partitions then a recovery zip could revert the sizes to stock without ever needing Odin and a PIT file.
----------------------------------------
Hey guys I'm not an experienced dev or programmer and messing with internal partition layouts is certainly a risky thing to contemplate...
However with sooooo much wasted space from Sammy bloat, especially if you decide to move to CM10.1/GE ROMs, I decided to look into it.
So I found an informative thread on the S2 forums showing how to customise a PIT file.
I'm not really a programmer so will need people to step forward but check this out:

Yeah I figured as much... I'm intrigued tho by the confidence that the dev has with it tho. Is it naive. I mean assuming you get every single thing right modifying the Pit file would it actually be easy to accomplish...?
I assume it's a case of: If you get it wrong you're fu**ed with no way to recover and hence to way to test without maybe frying a NAND or two
Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 2
Well, i went through big mess with PIT and GPT re-layout of my I9500 around couple of months ago. I can tell some my conclusions. Please note, i'm talking about I9500.
1) PIT file is signed and verified upon flash through Odin. So, there is no way to have customized PIT file as it was for I9100 or I9300. Most likely I9505 has the same protection again tampering. Odin simply hangs after uploading PIT file, so you have to unplug your phone and reboot (either by long power press or by removing battery). Nothing changes inside the phone. After rebooting you still have original PIT inside.
2) Bootloader (or Trusted Zone OS - idk) checks PIT's signature on every boot. So, if you upload customized PIT directly by dd, your phone will go into endless cycles of boot - initial Samsung Galaxy S4 logo will flash about every 2 seconds. The only possible solution will be entering into download mode and flash original PIT file.
3) Actually messing with PIT is not as dangerous as expected. If you won't touch boot block then you will be able to enter download mode even if rest of internal flash will be corrupted. Boot block on I9500 is protected from writing on hardware level (unless you use engineering bootloader), thus actually it's harmless
So, there is no way to customize the PIT file (As i did on my I9100, I9300 and E210K) on I9500.
So, i went different path. I've repartitioned internal flash by modifying GPT table (by parted utility). It works well. I've added 2.5+ GB to data partition.
Because original PIT file doesn't point correctly to all partitions now, i can use Odin only to flash partitions before those i've moved or re-sized. Since i don't use stock ROMs, it's fine for me. I still can flash modem kernel and recovery - this more than enough to recover from non-working kernel or recovery.
@sorg
This sounds exactly what I'm aiming for!
Thanks for sharing and I think I stumbled on a blog describing how you did during my research unless someone else used a similar method on the S2.

I'm curious if you can get this working and if you do, can you give a step by step? I'd love to repartition phone and get back all that wasted space that some of the leaner ROMs won't use so that I can have more space for data.

I believe, PIT file from I9505G will be accepted by I9505. Just wait for I9505G appear in someone's hands who will be able to dump everything.
The i9000 went through, at least, 3 different partition layouts throughout CM development (by Pawitp). They were always done by flashing a new kernel through cwm, rebooting and installing a new rom to the new partitions, which were formated in the process. All the magic was done by cwm, we never used any windows tool to do it, except Odin+pit to get back to stock partition layout.
Maybe Pawitp can help out also.

Can u give link to package including PIT file?
Or if you already downloaded, may be you can just attach PIT file to your post?
So the GE firmware has more free space than the stock TW?

No, we would need to alter the partitions for that.

Hi,
Is there any way to reset binary code when my phone won't go into boot. My phone won't get past the boot screen and I can only get it to recovery mode - where I can't do anything - or in download mode. I know I need to use Triangle away but when my phone won't boot I can't use the app, so is there any way that I can reset the binary code in another way?
Thanks

flash stock sammy rom through odin and look if it is bootable. how to do it is in general section - stickies
if yes root it and run triangle away (or maybe you won't need it then anymore because its bootable again )

I've been reading a lot of theads but nothing have been successful..

First thanks for all the answers
Well first I rooted the phone with this program: Samsung Galaxy S3 Toolkit and Odin that worked fine. Then I downloaded CM and Gapps to the sd-card and flashed it trough CWM and that went fine. The phone worked fine and everything was good.. Then months after it started to reboot it self and then one morning, after a reboot, it deleted all my text massages. The next day it wont boot. Some people says that there is someting wrong with my motherboard, but what do you guys think?
I found an article that says that rooting and flashing doesn't void the warrenty (EU) " If it is not possible to revert it stock software any more, it is also not a software-caused defect" and the warrenty is still valid And that's excatly what im experienced.
Thanks

Oh yes it does under Samsung warranty rules .
Fact is better than the fiction of eu and root not voiding warranty as its not a law and Samsung is not the vendor .
Any claim for repair must be made against the vendor .
