Easiest way to install the ROM achieve root and CWM recovery:
(make sure your battery is over 50%)
Download the firmware
extract the files and rename the tar.md5 files to .tar (remove the .md5 part)
Download Philz rooted kernel
Download Mobile Odin
copy all the files to your phone
Install mobile odin
open it and let it check for missing files
if u are using the free version u will need to download the flash kernel from chainfire's thread
In Mobile Odin:
go to Open file browse to the folder you copied files in and select the CODE_I9100XXLSJ file
go to Open file again and browse to CSC file do the same for the modem file
Now go to Open file and select Philz kernel
Select wipe data and dalvic cache to avoid running in any errors
this way mobile odin will flash this kernel rather than the stock non rooted kernel
Flash the firmware
your phone will reboot into mobile odin's special recovery and will flash the firmware
the phone will reboot some times just done worry leave it on table
After the phone boots pat your self on the back for doing a good job and thank Samsung for finally providing a good stock firmware since the gingerbread days

Question: I cannot take screenshots, it says USB storage is in use. But it isn't. Music, file explorers work fine. Any ideas?

Yes; that is, I started the ROM with a full wipe. Storage access worked at first, then without explicit intervention on my part I suddenly couldn't take screenshots/edit storage anymore.
If I find a solution I'll provide it here just in case.

This may sound like a silly question, but how do you rename the files?
I ask because I'm trying to flash this via Odin, and it says invalid hash or something.
I'm sure this is related to Odin showing the PDA file as .tar.md5
I have exacted the file, and then tried renaming the file on windows desktop, but Odin still sees this as .tar.md5 and then when I start I get the above error.
Secondly, seems I only had to exact the PDA file, for the CSC and Modem files did not need exacting, is this right?
I've used Odin heaps of times before, but I feel hopeless this time...

.PIT File
Sorry if the below point has already been covered. I only have 1 doubt:
1. Currently, my S2 has no free space in system/app (happened post the wrong 4.0.4 saga). So, please tell me if I need to use the PIT file too. As I dont want any more 0 space in system/app. I tried to ask it in the regular posts but no one could give me a concrete solution. May be, since here it is less of a ruckus, I might actually be able to increase my system/app folder memory.:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:

Succesfully installed, then rooted , then applied Phils CWM (PhilZ-cwm6-XXLSJ-OXX-3.1-signed.zip) through ordinary android 'install zip from sdcard'

sim lock issue!!!
I have successfully updated my sII to JB 4.1.2 but now it says I need to enter SIM network unlock PIN!!!! My phone was bought free of any carrier....what should I do!!! PLEASE help!! I cannot use my phone!!!

Use flash using sdcard or internal sdcard.
If somehow you erased your external card than copy the file using computer, or buy a USB cable and flash using Odin.

If you have cwm, yes copying a cwm zip file/ROM will be flashed, if the file is not corrupt.
If you are on stock recovery you have to flash using Odin.
Don't worry man....you need a cable to do this:
1. You need to download this http://hotfile.com/dl/146321681/7a0247f/I9100XXKL1_I9100OXAKL1_OXA.zip.html
2. Go in DOWNLOAD MODE
3. In odin CODE_I9100 goes in PDA GT-I9100-CSC-Multi goes in CSC and MODEM_I9100 goes in Phone the .pit file goes in PIT
4. Hit start...
5. Soft Brick is gone....ENJOY:good:
6. Now you can flash your previous ROM, the one before you Brick

hmm, I put them all in the right place and ran the program but it just said checking md5 sums and files are valid.... then nothing. Waited for about 10 minutes and absolutely nothing. After it boot there were some yellow words....they said "can't mount" maybe....but I don't remember so well....
Try this:
If you have a Samsung firmware with only PDA (NOT CSC, CODE & MODEM) do the same procedure selecting re-partition in odin, and using .pit file too.
PRESS TNX BUTTON IF I HELP YOU :good:
The replier probably got all the same errors you did when in recovery. Make sure you have Kies Air installed on your PC for the drivers, and then kill off any processes related to Kies Air in the Task Manager. Then put your phone into download mode, open Odin, place files correctly in Odin, tick re-partition and click start. It obviously works as many have had to do this after not reading the FAQ on the ROM thread. Good luck anyway

you have a serious problem on your end...either your computers have viruses or your not telling the whole story. the files work fine i have used them all. i would try installing a fresh copy of windows on your pc.
alternative option: send me your device and 20.00 and i will unlock it and put whatever rom you want on it, then send it back.

Use SirVilhelm's post for the Odin flashable and make sure you are using the Odin exe from Adam's bootloader unlock thread. Or flash Revision 3 instead of the full stock image. I borked my phone slightly and this worked.
Uncheck auto reboot, and after it finishes unplug and pull battery and wait for 10 seconds so it doesnt keep going back to odin.
Report back if it works at all

your getting corrupt downloads because of something on your end...That's the part your failing to understand... you keep saying "oh well that don't work for me"....ok but there must be a reason. All those files and methods that have been provided work for everyone else including myself. Take a step back make sure your doing everything correctly and make sure your pc is clean and no viruses...again its something on your end.

I provided you with the same links? Now all of a sudden imuts rom worked?? come on tell the truth what else was the problem?? Im not buying it lol...glad you figured it out tho. :good:

Is it dead? Odin Screenshot.

So my phone started acting up, slowing down, glitching, freezing etc.
I took a titanium backup, formatted the phone and reinstalled my rom (via CWM).
It kept crashing, so I went back into CWM, and tried to wipe it again, but it kept erroring on accessing the cache partition.
I downloaded Odin and tried to reflash it back to stock - it failed.
Assumed it was a partition problem, so I grabbed the PIT file and tried to flash that.
This is the error:
Long and short - is it new phone time, or can this be saved?
If you upgraded your phone to XELLA or higher ver you can't go back, because of new boot loader.
Try flashing XELLA firmware or this one http://goo.gl/e40Nc - It's XXALEF with new bootloader support and repartition pit file.

Try flashing XELLA firmware or this one http://goo.gl/e40Nc - It's XXALEF with new bootloader support and repartition pit file.

Looks like either user damaged the Nand by flashing wrong files or its the Sudden Death Syndrome .
In both cases its a service centre job .
reinstalled my rom (via CWM). >> that's only restoring the fault if it was a firmware problem.

Good luck then... But if your binary counter is increased, no warranty

I've had similar issues before, it worked eventually.
Try Odin3 v.1.85 from here (CF-Auto-Root thread).
Next, be sure you got a valid file, those from sammobile (I see from screenshots you want polish ROM).
Next, use only PDA button, nothing else, make sure it's the same settings as in root thread above.
Also make sure all Kies processes are closed.
Now, try until it works. It might take a few tries. This is what worked for me, hope it does for you too.
AW: Is it dead? Odin Screenshot.
If you are in Europe service center will repair it without adding money.

The same error happened to me after kies asked for some updates , i had to delete kies and samsung usb drivers then i downloaded only the usb drivers and the next time i tried odin it worked, i cant remember where i downloaded the usb drivers but i have them on my hdd and can upload them if u want.
Edit link for USB drivers : https://www.dropbox.com/s/yks4sudqsehazez/drivers.rar
Just use the pda option in Odin with the correct firmware for u galaxy with the right bootloader, not CSC and phone option, its easy to get back ur phone.

Aright missed that... But anyway, why the hell bothering with .Pit and Re-Partition? It's very dangerous...
Change CSC if needed or flash specific ROM...
Anyway... hope he gets it sorted...

1)try different ODIN version and see (also ensure to Kill all 'KIES' processes on ur PC while running ODIn and also temporarily disable any antivirus software running on ur PC)
2)Try diff USB port/Cable and see.
Yep. Search.
'Odin flash fails/Odin won't work' gets covered dozens of times here on a slow week. Search for similar threads, there are a set of troubleshooting steps you need to try/keep trying (That I'm never posting here ever again, tho if you ask Hopper nicely he might regurgitate them for you).
Edit - And if people did the right thing & made these lazy people search for these threads rather than regurgitating **** over & over the world would be a much better place.

Try my guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2058683 just in case, if the kernel flash gets through and recovery boots up you have some fighting chance, else blind pit file flash bonanza or/and trashed motherboard/device.

I believe NAND Write Start stuck cannot be fix>?
Nand corruption sometimes pop up due to drivers conflict or odin being unable to write in your device's memory.
Why? Because the usual suspects:
Usb Cable
Usb Port
Odin version
Drivers conflict (another pc/laptop would be wise)
Antivirus

I need some major help PLEASE!!!!!

So call me a super noob but I cant for the life of me unroot my dang Note 2. Ive read forums and threads on how and I dont know what my deal is. I dont know how to get odin on my laptop. I search and search to download it but cant find a way to download it. Im on a different pc than the one I rooted it to begin with because the old pc is stupid slow. I dont have supersu on my phone right now cuz I was screwing around with my phone and a friend of mine said I could unroot the phone by going into the supersu app. So I dont have su binaries. I dont even know if im rooted anymore. Im on scotts ROM the 4.1.2 version. I do have CWM recovery still tho. All I want to know is a step by step process on how to get odin onto my pc, and go from there on. And yes I have read forums about how to unroot but none say anything about how to install odin. I feel really dumb but I really need my phone unrooted ASAP. I have a new phone and tranferred the SIM card over to it....do I need to have the SIM card in my Note 2 in order to unroot it??? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help a bro out

Download Odin (it's just a simple windows program). - http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...3&d=1304094576
Make sure you have the latest samsung drivers - http://www.mediafire.com/?hzlnda0l5t8qyes
To use odin later all you do is power down the phone and boot back into download mode (volume down, power and home at the same time).
Open Odin, plug in phone...Odin should recognize the phone and you will see the com port noted in yellow.
From here you can follow these instructions to flash back to bone stock: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2024207

Did this already. Confused me a bit. I'm trying to sell it and since 4.3 ROMS aren't "stable" in a way. I can't flash one and get reboots if I'm gonna try and sell it

The download is compressed so you need to extract it (unzip). I am not familar with Zip opener but it probably works like the others (7-zip, etc). Just right click on the file and choose extract. Then you should see a normal application you can open.

Ya I'm figuring it out. I'm downloading the file from imnuts right now. After it's downloaded do I just drag the stock file into the PIT spot and then hit start?

I have never used 3.09, only 1.85 (the link I provided above). Looking at screenshots of 3.09, the fields look the same but are named differently, but since I have never personally used that version I can't guarantee it.

It took me a minute to figure out also, but they are in the same order but with different names.
