WiFi tether/hotspot and Xbox 360 - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Alright, so I finally broke down and got the WiFi adapter for my Xbox off eBay. They are still pretty expensive used, I paid $42 and that's a good deal for the genuine Microsoft ones.
Anyways, I'm having issues getting it to work with any app I try. It will connect to my phone, one time out of 7 it will connect to internet, but never to Xbox live.
I get horrible data at my house so I'm thinking ill take it to work tonight and test it there. Usually get maybe 8kb/s on average. Once got 1.4 mb and was hoping it would stick, but sadly, no.
Anyone with experience tethering have any advice, apps that have worked for u, settings to try, etc.? I know about the generic ics mode.
Alright, so not all at once. I know everyone is going to flood this thread as soon as I submit! Lol. Thanks for helping a fellow XDAer out!

Clear out Sprint's proxy settings if you haven't, something in their network blocks a lot of xbl content and multi player

Where is it at? I was trying to clear the NAT settings, but can't figure out where it is. It doesn't matter if sprint limits me. I got it working and highest tether speed I can get is 500kbps. Pretty sweet to me. Wasn't expecting to do multi-player until LTE comes this winter sometime.
Then ill really be sticking it to my friends on Verizon! Lol. How's that limited data plan doing ya? I did 50 terrabytes last month, haha!

How in the heck do you do 50TB and not send out any warning signals.

I don't remember what I did exactly, it's been a long time since I've used sprint for xbl

I was saying once we get LTE I can do that. Xbox live multiplayer burns a lot of data. I'm sure u could do some significant usage in a month.
Today, downloading updates for dishonored, madden and Xbox maintenance I downloaded 50 mbs. That's with pretty bad 3g (3kb-500kb/ps).

I played regularly and never even crossed 50GB, i was tethering on an old phone, I forget which but I was only paying 40 back when it was 60 and I crossed my limit every month, not once did it go back up to 60 or did I get hassled for over use. I miss that, I averaged 20GB-50GB a month

Can't u see using more when the speeds are 8mb/s and up? I don't even think about multiplayer now with frequently lower than dial-up speeds.
Unlimited data is unlimited data. Or it is supposed to be. I don't plan on being like the boys on southpark in the wow episode, playing online 24/7. I hate call of duty now and that's really the only type of game on Xbox u can really play like that.
Although having my mom bring me the diarrhea bucket and hold it to my ass while I'm playing is tempting. Have to fly her down from cincy so its probably not worth it.
U guys tried playing nonstop for days on end? Last time I did it was for GTA: San Andreas. Played it for 3 days on maybe 4 hours sleep and eating only hash browns and hot pockets. Only got up to use the bathroom. Awesome game for the time though. Actually called out of work that week as well. Had "pneumonia". Got my friends mom to write me a doctor's note since she was an RN or something.

Well back then it wasn't unlimited data, Sprint capped at 5GB and I not only crossed the limit, I destroyed the limit

I highly doubt you played gta for four days, and its insulting too me and the few others who hold the guiness record for longest gaming session on android. The diarreah quote, ok funny, but no need too exaggerate, i have insomnia and its a really messed up thing too have and i k ow a regular person couldnt do four days without drugs, especially considering the xbox world record is like 36 hours... liar.

I miss the endurance challenge I used to go to. Big competition once a year, 2 weeks long and once your clan was in you played nonstop until your clan was eliminated or your clan was too exhausted. The last 2 clans standing would go at it to determine the winner. Then we got awarded most kills, longest playtime before respawning, highest scores etc. They had this big ass water cooler shaped and painted to look like a bottle of Bawls Guarna. Tony finally shut down in 2007

Calling me a liar of a stupid Xbox game? I did play it for 4 days. Go duck yourself. Maybe fell asleep playing it and I wasn't on drugs thank u.
Sorry I don't give a chit about Xbox guineas records. I could do it again and put it on YouTube? U believe me then?

Actually xbl only uses up to 50 mb/hr. This is rather small because you can download 3-4 apps off the market for that much.
I wouldn't abuse the lte signal when you get it, or you'll find yourself excluded from the sprint network. Also you'll be hogging the bandwidth from that tower, so everyone else on sprint in your area will get slower speeds.

Well technically that stick is owned by sprint and can be used against u in any gaming competition sponsored in part by Xbox live. Any attempt at breaking the endurance challenge will resort in stick being reversed into the space time continuum. Thus, molecular fusion is supplanted into a black hole in which deep space sucks up 1tb/s resulting in your contract being TERMINATED!
In any event you summon the Terminator to your legal team Apple will sue you for copyright infringement. In which any case the judges will be bought and you will lose your soul to Satan aka Steve Jobs incarnate.
Thanks for choosing Sprint and the Next Year Network. Have a Happy Hanukkah! Muhalo!

+1 xbl hardly uses any data. My gold subscription expired back in April haven't needed to renew it yet, but used it for almost 2 yrs on og EVO and it never used that much data, I would venture and say 50 mb per hour might even be on the high side

I really hate Microsoft right now

Yup played halo 3 a while back at my friends brothers apartment and he didn't have internet yet so I popped out my og WiFi tethered that bish and started owning people. Anyways when we were playing it didn't really use that much data and we didn't even lag (I was surprised)

Must have apps for an 11 Year old?

Well ive finally done it ive had my mogul for almost 1year and i had an apache for like 2months (we got last ones before they got replaced with moguls at the sprint store) then we switched to the mogul my sisters are envious of the apps i have on my phone but i dont have alot. Im looking for all the must have apps for an 11 year old so just throw some in there that you really really like! Excuse my geek abbrivations xD
And yes ive searched around.
You might want to try the regular mogul forum. This forum is dedicated to upgrading the mogul's ROM.
why in the world would an 11-year-old have a cell phone at all - let alone something like a mogul?

Yeah, that's something that I would never want activated on a network..
A PDA? Great, letting a kid play is best for development.. Many of us here started quite young. My first comp was an Atari 400 at the age of 9. But a data capable cell phone? With the first HST modems I remember all the trouble that I got into..... To a long term investigation leading to the RCMP hauling me out of class and parents called in from their work. The advantages of being a minor but a later demonstration of CSIS' incompetence in passing me for a security check. I do miss my youth....
I had my first phone when i was in 3rd grade but it was an old direct connect that got surpassed by the i580 from nextel and in 5th grade i got samsung then i got the apache cause my dad got 5 and got them for like 200 each cause we got 5 then when he realized they went out of sale at sprint and got surpassed by the mogul he got them all switched. And the only one in my family that actually can WORK ELECTRONICS. As most ppl would say plz keep on topic.

Lucky you. I didn't get my first cell phone until I was 17 (had to work for it -_-).
Anyways I would recommend you get a GPS anti-theft program because you never know when other kids steal your phone or if you dropped it or if you forgot it somewhere. You could always pull up the location of the phone. But watch out, your parents could also use it to keep tabs on you

A phone: It depends on the person and what you do. A mogul: maybe not, but then if there's a few in the family.... It's also a nice internet device with Opera and Skyfire (though I can't get the beta yet...)
But people are getting technology younger and younger. Also these 2 year contracts and timing of the year effect how old you get your phone. I was 13 when I got mine for christmas and now I'm 15 and I got the voyager, but I had it switched for an XV6800 (which ended up being cheaper). Now I can't go back to a 'dumb-phone' Though I'm still hoping for an iPhone in a couple years can't imagine what it will be like then!
So as far as apps go: I use my phone for productivity and what not and I like customizing my phone. So for me there's Total Commander and I use the HTC Home plugin. Also I like the touch-esque comm manager and dial pad.
Also if you've got the latest sprint updates you can try something like Navizon which uses the GPS to map WiFi and cell towers. It sounds like a lot, but every 10,000 points you get $15 in cash. Currently, Navizon won't let Mogul and Titan variants map cell towers because of a system bug. So earning point may take a bit longer, but with the wireless age there's so many WiFi spots. I you use it could you click the link in my sig.

Hey-
I see that everyone decided to use your thread to criticize you for having a phone instead of just answering you question. Kinda lame.
Anyway, here is what I have:
-WM 6.1 for the threaded SMS
-S2U2 for full screen picture caller ID
-SPB mobile shell with Robodad's skin- makes the phone a lot easier to use. I like flashy and simple and mobile shell does both
-Google Maps and Live Search - Great when your out and need to fins a store or something nearby and finding cheap gas (dont think this really applies to you)
-Emerstec Jbed and Opera Mini - Great web browser
-Sprint Navigation - Good turn by turn directions for your gps. It is free with alot of sprint plans
- Sprint TV - This is really cool. It is currently working on the Mogul so enjoy while you can.
-WMWifiRouter - so that I can get internet on my laptop while I am out.
-Core player with Youtube bundle - so I can watch youtube videos
-Oxios Hibernate - Run it if your phone is being SLOW
-Advance configuration and nueLED - Just to tweak certain settings to my liking.
Hope this helps man. Let us know if you have any other questions. That is the point of this forum.

[Q] Vibrant VS Garminfone

I'm tired of the GPS not working accurately on my vibrant. People seem to forget what's the true reason to use a mobile phone in the first place. Who really needs a faster processor and sharper resolution when you can't use it for something as basic as navigation and finding the number and address of your local grocery store?
This is why I have switched to a Garminfone. I do not have to pay for a data plan. Who really surfs the net on a tiny screen? that's what laptops and tablets are for. Can anyone here say their Vibrant GPS works just as accurately as a Garmin device? I want to know if it's because I have an older Vibrant model. Have the new Vibrants fixed the GPS issue completely? My Garminfone is accurate in locating me within 2-10 meters and can find me in 2-3 seconds! Plus it was made to integrate directly with your car, so there is a windshield holder with power outlet.
No real software can truly fix the GPS since it's a hardware limitation. Probably why my Garminfone is heavier. It uses a real GPS, not aGPS! And it's made by Asus which is an excellent brand!
No flaming intended, but HOLY CRAP a Garminfone?
Ouch dude.
You picked a GARMINFONE over an SGS? The ONLY thing that phone does better is GPS.
That being said, the GPS on my Vibrant works great. I have no idea why some Vibrants can't see a bird to save their lives, and some work. Supposedly the newer hardware makes it more likely that it will work.
Good luck with your new GPS that can make phone calls.
LOL at picking a Garminfone over the Vibrant.

Weird... I thought the true reason to use a mobile phone.... was to call people??
I thought about the Garminfone briefly before I settled with a Vibrant.
Software updates for the Garminfone are really non-existent and any modding/hacking Roms is almost extinct as well. The device is on life support at best.
That being said I've seen Vibrants with superb 5 second GPS locks by just spending 10 patient minutes doing the GPS hardware fix listed in the sticky.

True. There is a hardware issue with the GPS as stated in the sticky in the General Section. But once that issue is corrected the GPS is just as good as any standalone device I've every used. There are about 90 other people who will back me on that too. Oh and my phones GPS is set to Standalone, no aGPS here...
those that are replying, keep in mind....
does you GPS work properly without a Data plan???
my point is, if you're paying an extra $30 a month which is $330 a year for data when there is wifi in just about every mall, mc donalds, star bucks...why even bother?
and on top of that, why pay for data if you already have wifi at home and in the workplace??
Seriously, no one truly browses a full web page on a phone. You do that on a laptop or tablet. The Garminfone has android 2.1. So what is if it doesn't have 2.3? The issue is always going to be T-mobile will be a few builds behind the latest one. Are you really going to save the world with 2.3???
It's all about functionality and value!!!!
I can be in the middle of nowhere and get GPS directions, address and telephone numbers without a data plan! No paying $330 yearly!
So back to my question, does your GPS on your Vibrant work accurately without a data plan or wifi?
omg is this thread for real. me and my wife had a garmin when they first came out cause of the buy one get one deal. we couldnt give those crappy phones back fast enough. really garmin phone why dont you just get a tom tom duct tape it to your vibrant if you want gps so bad.
I looked at the Garminfone for about 10 minutes. I am not going to bash your choice because everyone has different needs for their devices. I will however say that my decision to NOT go with that phone was I read a ton of bad reviews on overall hardware and software issues. Plus I really hardly use GPS unless I am bored.
If you truly need GPS and just use a phone to call and text then that is what suits you best.
Good luck with your purchase, come back in a few weeks and prove us wrong I guess
After reading through this post, I don't why the OP even created this post in the first place when he knows for a fact that our phone requires a data plan for GPS to work. As for me, I am out most of the time and it's just much more convenient for me to use the data plan to go online and email without having to look for a place with wifi. On top of that, my replacement phone sees 11 to 12 birds and locks on to 6 to 8 birds in about 10 to 20 seconds. Maybe the OP regrade switching over and is trying to justify himself for the switch.
he might as well get a cup and string along with a star chart to map with for location for a phone.

The irony is freaking delicious.
i see a lot of people here are new to TECHNOLOGY. I've been around computers since the first desktop computer came out. Many on here started using computers only when facebook became popular. The point is, the true value in technology does not lie in paying for a device at it's birth.
I repeat, $330 a year for what???
It's $330 for service...not a device that can be resold and make half your money back in a year. What do you really need so badly to download from the internet that requires you to get a data plan instead of using wifi?
The initial bad reviews for the Garminfone was because it only supported 1.6 at the time. 2.1 isn't that bad. And get this, Garminfone is made by Asus which is the best quality PC brand!
Of course the vibrant is better...well it ought to be if you're paying $330 more a year!!! It all comes down to price! You expect more if you pay more!
If you bought your Vibrant through Tmobile, you could have easily swapped it out for a newer model without the hardware problem at no cost to you. My GPS is working fine, and yes in some cases it fares better than standalone units.
People use their phones for browsing all the time, that's kind of the major point of a smartphone...
As for the data plan, I use Audiogalaxy to stream my entire music collection (upwards of 200 gigs of music) from my computer at home, to my car. How would you do that without a data plan again?

Exactly, and with Maps 5.0 you have offline route caching, so you can still navigate when you lose data service.
people really need internet on a tiny little device 24/7 for $330?
Sure everything is case by case, but $330 in this economy when MOST people already have wifi. This is how ridiculous cellphone plans are! It use to be a device for talking and now people describe it like a NECESSITY!
This is exactly why Americans are always broke! They don't know the meaning of value. It's one thing that you're Donald Trump, but MAJORITY of people don't need internet service with them 24/7.
If you're using your mobile device for tethering, then that's a good thing...but when you already have wifi at home like most people, this is completely a waste!
Does anyone have proof that the Vibrant GPS works great by itself without a data plan. I'm looking for proof online. Maybe a video or article.

The vibrants GPS can operate in 3 different modes. One of which is STANDALONE. meaning the phone gets its data directly from the sats. Meaning no network connection is needed.

I just went out and got the Bionic today, but more importantly I just wanted to thank all of the wonderful and dedicated Eris devs out there. YOU are the reason my eris has lasted this long. I really appreciate everything you have all done, and as soon as I get some money back in my checking since the bionic costs a bit i will send some your way. Thank you everyone, xda has the best community

what happened??? i've had my bionic for 2 days now and am loving it. i was also loving it that the sales rep actually felt bad for me for having an eris for 2 years, and was floored when i told him that thanks to the devs here, it ran gingerbread very well.
anyway, yes, thanks to the devs and for making the eris a wonderful first android experience!
I just received my Incredible 2 today and I absolutely love it.

What were your issues with the bionic? Just curious as it had been a possible option for me.
Later Eris
I had fun with the Eris but I am moving to the Incredible 2. Thank you to everybody and good luck if you still have an Eris.
Sorry for the delay guys, the biggest issue I had with the bionic was the headphone jack issue. For anyone who hasn't heard of this, its that the headphone jack caused a squealing noise whenever it was powered on. Ill see if I can find the thread on the Motorola support board in a bit. Since I use my phone for primarily music either local or spotify, this noise issue was a huge deal. I took it back to the store and they gave me a new one. Turns out that one and the display models all made the sounds. So I just returned the device altogether. for everyone else that its working for, I'm glad you're enjoying it. And to all the devs here thank you so much for keeping my Eris running with the best of them

Oh, yeah. I have heard of that issue now that I think about it. That would definitely bug the heck out of me as well. Haha not patient enough to wait for a fix?
Normally I would wait for the fix, but I was too pissed off having just spent 300$ on a new phone that didn't work up to my standards (which aren't too high given I'm still using the eris ) since I have at least a half hour commute if not longer and I usually fill that gap with music, that particular issue was a huge deal for me. So here I am awaiting the vigor or the prime. I'm a fan of HTC tho so it'll probably be the former
Sent from my ERIS-ADR6200 using XDA App
That's quite understandable. I actually would probably do the same thing. That's why I still haven't upgraded and I've been sitting on an upgrade since the beginning of June (Man, it has been a tough 4 months). If I'm going to drop that much on a phone, I want to absolutely love it. Another reason is because I have not had good luck with getting new phones in the past.
Story time: Started out with the chocolate v2 and then the enV touch on my first upgrade and dreaded them both. Even used old phones from friends in between such as the V, enV, and some motorola flip phone. Never getting a dumbphone again. Ever. Finally bought the Eris off someone on craigslist like a year ago and I had never been happier with a phone (even more so once I rooted it ). Even though the Eris isn't the quickest and most glamorous phone out there, it beats all my past ones by a landslide.
I'm also waiting on the vigor and prime to come out, but for me it will probably be the latter
If the vigor comes out on the 20th (or the 13th perhaps?) I dont know how long ill be able to restrain myself from waiting for the prime. I know I only had the bionic for 2 days, but just those 2 days of 4g made me really antsy (4g coverage here is phenomenal). Im hoping we can get a more definitive prediction on the prime before the vigor is released tho.
PS: Ive had an upgrade since March. I know your pain
I'm in the same boat - upgrade available since August, waiting and seeing. I'm going to see what the big, bad Apple is offering starting Tuesday - if they fix their terrible Gmail support, I may go that way. I definitely will not go Prime if it's true that it has a 4.5" display. 4.3" is bad enough - I want something that fits in my pocket.
I may go Bionic - I really want a phone that has a good radio, since I live in a spot with bad coverage, and HTC doesn't seem to make phones with good radios. I think I can live with a mediocre display - I've had the Eris for 21 months, after all.

I also worry about the size of my next phone. One thing to keep in mind is that for ICS, the screen can take up more of the phone's face since the softkey buttons aren't needed. Since I've also had an upgrade for a long time now, I will definitely be getting either the vigor, prime, or droid hd/razr.

I used to worry about that, but it seems like the standard for any high end phone has become at least a 4in screen. I guess I've just accepted it lol

Hmmm, in the same boat - eligible for upgrade again, finally - LOL. Seriously debating to - by locking into another 24 months extension, again - get the "free" INC.2 online via CircuitCity/TigerDirect/CompUSA instead of dealing with Big Red directly as their best direct price is $119 (suppose to be using my last NE2 discount - regular new 2 year price is $149 today ....) and no activation fees - and keep unlimited email & web for smartphone bundle.
If I go with any 4G devices, I will lose UNL data & be capped at 2GB at $30/mo - whereas I get a generous 22% corp. discount for primary FS line & data, so I'm saving quite a bit each month, - DW is on a feature phone (Env3) exempt from data.
Inc.2's bigger 4" screen is just about right and will fit into my pockets, etc. without being bulky - if I go this route although I will miss not having the Eris, getting it rooted & flashing Roms have unleashed its full potential - had people looking over & wondering what I got under "its" skin, etc.
What I've read & understood so far, there're very few returns on the Inc.2 - and virtually no FRU's from Big Red - it's a very good sign so far, 6 months after its launch, so I'm going to chew on it for a while longer during the trip. I just couldn't imagine taking a brand new unrooted, stock smartphone with bloatware on a 10 day trip next week, so I got reasons to hold on to the Eris for a while longer.
Sorry maybe I misunderstood, but why would you have to extend your contract and lose unlimited data?

If I renew/extend with 3G devices like the Incredible 2, yes, I get to keep unlimited email & email for smartphone, grandfathered @ $29.99 /mo. plus 22% corporate discount, which is very nice (or stay with the Eris, etc.)
However, I will lose it if I opt for any 4G LTE devices like the T.bolt as I will need to switch to the 2GB+ data bundle & email plan @ $30 /mo. without corporate discount - including the iPhones.
We got solid 4+ bars 3G GSM coverage at the house (from big "A" & T-Mo) and 2G/borderline 3G from big Red, so ....
Oh that's odd. Is it because of the corporate discount? I kept unlimited data when I used my upgrade to get a bionic. (I've obviously since returned it, but was explicitly told I would keep my unlimited)

[Q] Best Way to Test for Dead Pixels

I've gotten tests to check my pc monitors so I googled to find something for an Android phone (Rezound will be my first) and came up with several options, a few apps and some methods without using an app.
Apps I found were:
Dead Pixel Test
Dead Pixel Tester
Dead Pixel Detect
Any recommendations on these or other methods?
Antutu Tester. You can text pixels, battery and touch points I believe.
Ask Xoxigenboy, he actually has a dead pixel and can probably verify which ones work.

on my screen the dead pixel is red. you can't realky see it during the day, but at night it stands out when the background is dark(if you have a dark wallpaper, watching a video)
I'm currently waiting outside a Verizon store for them to open & hopefully they'll be able to see it.
but basically, an easy way to check is to set a really dark background(preferbly just black), set the display to auto & wait till you are somewhere with low light. any red dots and its exchange time.
Did they do the exchange there for you? I've never been able to swap a device right at the store, they always overnight it, so I just call now lol.
Thanks everyone... I'm anxiously awaiting my phone to check it all out.

they told me that since it was purchased elsewhere(best buy mobile) that id have to go there for the exchange.... which I figured, just hoped they'd do it there at verizon. although, since best buy allows an exchange within 30 days I think I am going to hold on to this one a bit longer(then will exchange on like day 29 or 30).
You are probably better off not fighting holiday shoppers anyways, lol.

Verizon chick rep told me there were like 5 accidents by the mall today LOL. I shoulda hit on her cause she had huge tits, but I was more interested in my phone LOL. Then some blonde customer was next to me and shes was like omigawd what are you getting. I just looked at her and stared with a blank expression on my face. Considering she was also buying the Rezound which was in my hand.. DERP!
I just met my girlfriend of 8 months parents today (She/they are from Boston). I took them to Granite City for dinner and I didn't think how idiotic of an idea it was until I started driving that direction. I avoid the Mishawaka commercial area like the ****ing plague and I remembered why 45 minutes into my 9 mile drive.
nice. topic went from dead pixels to holiday traffic.

"hey billy can you help me install this radiator?"...
5 minutes later...
"billy... did i ever tell you you have the most beautiful blue eyes"...

Don't need an app to see that you have more than your share of dead pixels.

SlingMobile is awesome

I have used SlingMobile in my last four phones (TouchPro, TouchPro 2, DroidX, Rezound) and the app really kicks major butt in the Rezound using 4g.
I have the newest HD Slingbox and with 4g service the picture is outstanding.
I have two different inputs I can select from, standard cable and an HD cable box. If I use the standard cable input, a viewer at home can be watching a different channel than I am watching but the picture is lower quality.
I even get perfect TV reception while driving down the road in my truck. My Wife watched a movie in HD HBO on demand while we drove on a 3 hour trip last week.

Yes, I have unlimited data.
It would be virtually unuseable (same as Netflix) with most tiered data plans.

what exactly is the app? ive heard of it but never really looked into what it was exactly. Sorry, im on the road right now LOL

Essentially it allows you to stream your home cable feed and/or DVR recorded items to your phone.

I have never used anywhere near the amount of data that a lot of the posters here use every month.
Last month, I used less than 4 gigs so I would have been fine even on my Wife's 4gig tiered plan.
I don't believe data hogs are what caused tiered data anyway, I attribute it to Verizons greed.
~John
By the way, I have had unlimited data since the first day it was available years ago and I also have the unlimited 4g hot spot so you can KMA with that attitude........

Nice system, how much was the whole setup? And to my Michigan friend, please take down the logo if you're going to consistently work interactions in that manner, I don't want people to think all Wolverines are like that.

I think my high def Slingbox was around $300, but there are cheaper models that work fine also. You need a router in the system, but I think everybody has one of those nowdays.

seemed like you were being a jackass to me.
He's using the data on his smartphone with an app he purchased. He's not running a whole home network, which are the people that are abusing the data.
As for the slingbox, I got one last xmas, it died in march, 92 days after I activated it. Contacted sling, they told me they couldn't give me any tech support without either paying 30 bucks up front or adding the extended warranty for 50 bucks. Horrible customer service in my opinion.
I can say, that when it worked, it was great, never had any problems with it. But the fact that it only worked for 3 months is what was bad. If you get it, get the warranty. Just consider it part of the purchase price.
As a side note, with mine (the base model), it took over the dvr, so if someone was watching tv at home, if I changed the channel, they would have it changed as well. Works for me because I work nights.

If you don't want that to happen, you need a Slingbox with an internal tuner like the SB Pro or SB Pro HD.

don't think I'm going to fix it. CS has been bad and not sure I'll use it enough to warrant another 50bucks for the extended warranty.
Finally figured out my plex media server so I can just stream my shows from my computer.

Something else you can try (I use it for netflix because we dont have tv) is to run an hdmi cable from your comp to your tv and you will be able to watch whatever is running on your comp.
Slingbox has had big problems with defective equipment. It is much easier and cheaper to look up their problems online and and fix it yourself or have a local electronics shop do it for you. There are online instructions to do this. I bought the parts I needed at radio shack and did it myself.

this and their customer service is ATROCIOUS....i dont think they care since Dish or whoever bought them...they wanted 100 bux to fix, after i spent 20 bux on a power adapter that wasnt the problem, and then if it broke after 90 days i was back to 100 again...and this was all 3 days after the warranty i bought expired...seriously...
so i researched and bought a brand new vulkano for 100 bux...works and is simply awesome as sling will not be getting another dollar from me...
just reminded still have to try the mobile app for vulkano...
