SIII Liquid Smooth RC5 cant use ext. sd card. - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I'm having problems with sd cards and liquid smooth. Sd card works in recovery mode without any problems, but in the actual OS it doesnt. It says it's damaged and says its needs to be formatted. However it gets stuck at unmounting the sdcard. I've formatted in the recovery mode, but it didn't help. I've been searching the internet for a while and haven't found anything helpful or anyone with the same problem. SD card is Sandisc microSDXC 64gb class 10.
List of software whats loaded into the SIII at the moment.
ClockWorkMod Recovery 5.5.0.4 - "v1.5"
Liquid Smooth RC5
superSU v0.89
With best regards: Amatheas

Format via Windows as FAT32 .

Well. I did get it to work, but at half capacity. Apparently my laptops sd card reader cant read more than 29.8gb of the sd card. Is there a way to format it using android itself or is there a trick to do it on my laptop?
EDIT: Got it to work. ZTE blade had the ability to format it to 64gb version. Thanks everyone for help. This thread is now solved.

[Solved] [Q] Mounting External MicroSD

I may have encountered a hardware problem with my SGS2. Hopefully I'm wrong, and it can be corrected with software. Anyway, I have a 4GB MicroSD inserted into the phone, but it is not recognised at all.
Under "Settings > Storage" the SD card section says unavailable for both "Total space" and "Available space". The options for mounting and formatting the SD card are greyed out.
At first I thought the MicroSD might not be listed there, and instead was /sdcard/external_sd, but when I copied some files to that directory, they were not on the card when I checked on my old phone. I also copied a file from my PC to the card via my old phone, then searched, to no avail, to find it on the Galaxy S II.
Any thoughts are appreciated.
Format the card via PC card reader . I just shoved 16GB card in and it works .

I have done that. It works in my Xperia X1i. Should I be using FAT32? That is what the card us formatted as, but maybe I should try ext4 or ntfs?

Fat32 should be fine, check the card for errors on your pc? I've just put my 16gb in and it's working fine...
Do you think it could be a fault with the phone? Maybe a damaged card reader? When the card is accessible, where in the file system is it found? /mnt? I know the internal storage is /mnt/sd card.
EDIT:
Never mind, I borrowed another MicroSD, which worked fine. The problem must be with the formatting of the card. Thanks for the help people.

(HELP) Anyone having issues mounting 64gb sandisk sd card on S III

Hi there guys
I have been having a problem with 3 sandisk 64gb micro sd cards. I always got them replaced but it is getting frustrating now. Obviously they are formatted in exfat format.
The problem starts when I copy data of over 30 gb. Once i copy the data n the sd is remounted or the phone is restarted i always get the message "damaged sd card" but when i read the card on pc through an adapter it shows the contents ok. So i want to know if anyone can help me so that I may not need to return the card this time around...

Try to format it first in the phone, then start loading data on it.

I also tried it buddy but none of the methods seem to work .. i also tried formatting it then copying data through sd card reader as well as the phone itself... does it have to do anything with some file system issue or kernel related issue... im on stock kernel rooted...

also had the same problem. i formatted the card to fat32 with 32xxx sectors with "GUIFORMAT" app for windows, the it works ok.
then after fat conversion, you can try to format the card to exfat using any app (not the windows one) search google, then it might work, didnt try myself as fat32 works great, and i can use it with the script that makes the card the phone memory, so now i got 64gb instead of 11.6gb of phone storage

where formatted?
how much fully card with data?
witch rom, kernel?
I have the class 10 64Gb Sandisk sd card too with no problems.
Card has about 55Gb info on it and I didn't format the card. Just put it into the phone. Recognised instantly and haven't looked back.
I have a 2nd SGSIII too with a 64gb class 6 sandisk sd card. Same applies but with a little less data on it.

[Q] CyanogenMod 10.1 Nightlies SD card format

Flashed the 20130128 nightly coming from Jelly Beans. When I rebooted the phone the (empty) 64gb SD Card was "damaged". I tried to format it via the phone and that didn't help.
After looking into other posts I keep seeing that it needs to be formatted as a FAT32 but that this wasn't recommended for cards 32gb and higher. Is there anything special I need to do after flashing 4.2??
Thanks for the help...

There is nothing wrong about reformatting the Sd card to FAT32. You just lose the ability to transfer files over the size of 4GB. You're going to need to reformat the sdcard on your pc by using a third party program.
AOSP ROMs do not support exFAT.

[Q] External sd card problem after aokp flash

So I recently rooted my Verizon Note II, rooted with casual and twrp. I flashed the milestone version of aokp and for some reason cannot mount my external sd card. I get an error message that says "sd card is blank or has an unsupported filesystem". The sd card was working fine on my rooted phone before flashing aokp. Any ideas?

Its my understanding some Roms dont support exFat, a file system format used by SD Cards. you should try backing up the data and then formatting it to fat32.

thanks for the advice. It seems like aokp can reformat the card itself, but I'm a little afraid to let it try. I was also just reading about using siyah kernal and another thing called vold-exfat that lets you use an exfat formatted card. I think I'm gonna do one of these two things but it seems easiest to let aokp reformat my card if it will actually reformat my 64gb sd to fat32. I haven't been able to find out what it will reformat to though... very confusing

It won't reformat a 64GB card right. Download something likr EaseUS or another formatting tool. There is one that is posted on XDA quite a bit but for the life of me I can't remember its name.

what kind of card is it?
are other cards affected as well?
if not then put your card into a pc and try to format it to fat32 and try again on your phone. if pc does not recognize it either then the card is probably broken..
Is a dam disk ultra 32gb card. It's already in fat 32 file format. Still, formatting it using a pc worked for me.

then i do not really know.
maybe only for testing try to format it on pc to exfat. i know in fact fat32 should always work, but it could be worth a try.
i also have often read that s3 has some problems with certain sd card brands, and mine also already killed my last sd card. since i bought a samsung sd card there were no more problems for me..
Bro my problem is resolved after I formatted my card in a pc. It's still in fat 32. Thanks for your help.
