[Q] work with a 3g sim australia ? - HTC Amaze 4G

im from australia.. i impulse bought one of these fones about december 2011, tmobile branded, just for a look.
recently made it s-off, supercid, flashed with revolution 3.0.1 with recommended firmware containing radio 1.14.550L.17DC_30.78.550L.15.
anyway.. i cant use it.. because with my vodafone 3g sim it cant get a data connection at all.. i dont plan to change carrier.
question is... if i sell or give this amaze 4G fone to a telstra customer with a 4g sim.. will it work for them.. will it obtain a data connection at all ?
or should i throw it in the bin ?

You need to set the APN on the phone for Vodafone to get a data connection.

So it will work with a 3g sim with apn set manually ? Thought I tried that... I'll give it another try when I get home. Thanks for the reply hasoon.

You also need to unlock it. Not bootloader unlock but sim unlock.

It is sim unlocked. It can make calls and txt with 3g sim. Just no data.

manually added the apn.. works now thanks for the help hasoon & double. much appreciated.

Does anyone know about using us cellular note 2 on verizon

Please help as I need to flash or unlock the us cellular note 2 to use on Verizon. Is it possible and if so how do I go about doing it? Please help!! Thank you!

This is not an easy task. Unless you know someone that has access to Verizons databases, you can't activate the phone on Verizon.
Don't quote me on this, but I don't think that phone supports Verizons bands.

OK. I agree not easy. Any thoughts on being able to flash with CDMA WORKSHOP? I really need help if you or anyone has thoughts or ideas please get back to me. I appreciate it!

Activation is all through the SIM card for LTE phones. Odds are, the USC version doesn't support the proper LTE bands to work. I also think you're going to have problems using the CDMA network as well, even if the SIM card is recognized.

It will most likely be impossible and that's if the phone supports the same bands lol. Why not just sell it and by a vzw one?

welll ........try this
first is it unlocked and if so do this set it to global sim add apns (get on google) buy titainium backup root (oh you do have to have root ) also pop in sim if you have service bars check for the apn"s if you dont have them downloan apn manager convert it to system app through titainium b. then put sim in and reboot point i am not responseable if damage occurs ... but it shouldnt so you can you tube it to hope that helps you :good:
Nor for sure if it's possible with custom flashing but it's not stock. The note that I saw was heavily locked down. It had a sim card slot but that was about it.

First of all.... looking at this link below.... the SCH-i605 and the SCH-R950 are on the same bands.
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_note_ii_cdma-5152.php
Second, I am also attempting to get this working myself. The SIM Card is not even recognized. I have my SIM from my Nexus and it still Says No SIM.
Anybody else want to lend some advice? I too would like this working.
A little more research. US Cellular did not want to give up their information to "Unlock the phone". Verizon's SIM does not work with the US Cellular stuff on the phone. It looks like that the partition needs to be setup with the Verizon PIT file. Once it is re-partitioned, then the rest of the phone should be able to be flashed to Verizon.
Am I far off base? Has anyone had success with Re-partitioning? The last 2 tries, it hangs at Get PIT for mapping.... or something like that.

Seems a little off that the partitions would be different.
I imagine it is CSC and maybe even EFS related.
Do you have a USC pit file? I'll compare it to the verizon one.
That's another issue. I don't have a USC Pit file.
I found an R950 firware update that may have the necessary PIT and CSC files. It's extremely slow... might not get back to this until late tomorrow.
Not included. Like I said before, the verizon PIT hangs at Get PIT for mapping on the R950. If someone can provide that file, I'm curious if it will get past that point.

Won't work without heavy SW work at the modem level and kernel. For 2/3G, they share the same bands (PCS/Cellular). LTE is on completely different bands (Verizon is on Band 13, U.S. Cellular is on Bands 2,4,5 and 12). Therefore, if you could hack it enough to get it to accept modified VZ SW, it would only work on 2/3G.
First up sorry to dig it out of the grave
but i saw some utterly famous guyz replying so thought of dropping my query as well.
I am gonna get a USC Note 2 , though i will primarily use it on cdma , but i was wondering if now ( its been a month since last reply in this thread )
the phone can be unlocked and can be used on a gsm network outside of country ,
i wish to just pop in any gsm sim in it when i am abroad and use that on it.
or if there i a way to make it work with the cdma sims outside of US.
would be grateful if anyone can shed any light.
thanks

I believe that the USC Note 2 is unlocked for GSM sim cards. I will know in about 5 weeks. I plan on testing my "testing" USC Note 2 while abroad. If it works, I will let you know.
I would still like to get it to recognize my VZW Sim card. Ugh!

It is unlocked for GSM bands domestic and internationally on supported frequencies.
For Domestic GSM/UMTS/HPSAP+ bands ( you ARENT locked to 2G , but you need to be on refarmed 1900MGHz bands for H+ in your area) I suggest taking a look at JellyBeans ROm 13 or 14.... Supports GSM bands and APN editor . I have my Verizon sch-i605 running on TMobile at 6MB+ down and 2MB+ up with text and mms with no problems at all.
TMO has no contract plans from $50-$70
Simple Mobile has plans from I thin $30-$60
both with 4G (AKA HSA+)
Its not an issue with verizon variant, but us cellukar vwrsion is tricky. Inserting an international gsm sim only shows unsupported

RE: As of 9-13-13, no luck still with Re-Part. working on clients R950 trying without root is the goal, but appears it is the only way. Manual Programming is also difficult. VRZ's pit file i605 won't map on R950. Soft bricked the phone after each attempt. Both phones operate on same bands for sure, but must have providers software installed for the LTE card to work. Not even sure how stable a root would be, but not going to attempt on clients phone......

Attempted something similar today, was told the phone does not contain a CDMA radio so no go for service of any type because it does not support the same LTE band also.
Even if you managed to get the radio working, the Verizon rep said that the phone is not on their list of allowed devices and a SIM would not activate over their network.

What didn't work? No service with AT&T? Just data not working? With the number of people that have used it with T-Mo that get everything but data, I don't think it is SIM locked. We just need a way to add/edit the APNs, and it would be nice to enable it in Settings.
This thread is for the Galaxy S3 but I don't see why it wouldn't work for the Note 2 since we do have root.

I don't have another carriers SIM card to try it but the thread has very detailed instructions on how to add new APN's using an app from the play store.

What is APN? If we edit/change APN, does it void manufacturer warranty? New APN would work great with ATT 4G LTE?
Thank you, all

APN is access point network. Irks just a configuration that provides login details to the network. It will not void your warranty, but you will need to manually edit the APN file.

APN is pretty much your cell phone providors "SSID" for data(like with your home wireless connection). So what's happening here is someone that has a verizon phone has the APN set for Verizon by default. You take that Verizon SIM out, put an ATT in there and the phone works, but your data does not because you are on an ATT network now, but still looking for the Verizon APN. You can change it but it is usually hidden somewhere. I don't know if anyone tried to get into the programming mode of the phone yet but sometimes you can change it through there, but not sure about this phone.
It *shouldn't* void the warranty as the worse that would happen is if you fat fingered it, your data would not work, but with so many damn rules and regulations I dont know for sure.

Global GSM not working

Hey i came to hong kong for a business trip and tried a local GSM sim but i get this sim is not supported error. DOes anyone know how to fix this.
I tried same thing sim on another phone it works. So not sure what the issue is ? did i need to get an unlock code from verizon before i left ?
If you can get access to a computer for awhile go through Adams unlock process in the original android dev forum and you'll be carrier unlocked, not sure what Verizon would give you for a code cant hurt to call and ask, but keep in mind unlocking it is something that can be done by you from here
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
You sure it wasn't a "Non-Verizon SIM" on going notification? I've read of people using all sorts of different carrier SIMs and they all had at least voice/sms service if they had a signal. The phone is already SIM unlocked, so VZW couldnt give you much.
Sent from my Galaxy Note II
The non-Verizon SIM notification doesn't actually do anything. You should be able to get voice just by putting the SIM in. To set up data, you'll need to be rooted and add the APN manually.

[Q] Unlocked sprint note 3 No 3g

So i followed the instructions and was able to get sprint to unlock my phone and did the sim unlock. I am now unlocked and good to go. However I get no 3g. I went the test menus several times to make sure i didnt miss anything in guide, but no matter what settings i use i am only getting an edge data connection. Any help to get my 3g up and running would be greatly appreciated .
What carrier are you trying to use? I thought the unlock was only if you wanted to go to a different Carrier like t mobile or att.

[Q] sprint Note 3 on Ting - unlock issues

Hi all,
I bought a Sprint Note 3 on swappa. Work well no issues BUT I am now travelling overseas and need international unlock.
I asked Ting and they followed up with sprint - the response "they will not unlock for international use"
I am stuck - what can/should I do ? the phone is not rooted. And from various threads I read I need sprint to do the international unlock
(once that's done a domestic unlock would be nice - again threads tell me international unlock needs to be done first)
Can I do this myself ? or is sprint the only one ? (and how come they don't do the unlock ? the IMEI is clean etc...)
thanks, Sammy
SSU app will unlock for non USA sims. Then down grade modem mj4? , to use US sims. More steps to get it all working info is in forums. ting is great wish they could tell sprint to stick it.
thinking about moving to ting this month. so tired of the Sprint bill. they used to be the "cheap" option. not true these days.

can u provide the best link - have had trouble finding the best source for what you are saying ie SSU app and then the modem mj4 etc...
thanks.
PS: any reason sprint doesn't unlock for ting ?
Here's the ssu app thread

And the sprint unlock for domestic sim.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2593305
Sprint doesn't want to unlock even if you're paying sprint.
FYI ting says they will have GSM maybe as soon a Feb.
does that mean TING will be able unlock in Feburary
also, if I go the SSU route - can I check before travelling from the USA if the procedure has work.
thanks again.

All the post say it just works. All you have to do is: Go to settings, more networks, mobile networks, access point names, then add an APN settings for the carrier.
If you have the time do the domestic unlock and have it working here before you go.
Ting will resale GSM srrvice from T Mobile, ATT ?
