[Q] [XS] HDMI output black crush - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

So when playing a video on my Plasma, using the phone's HDMI output, I get severe black clipping/black crush on the TV. Absolutely no detail in dark scenes. It's probably because TV's are designed with the 16-235 color range and the phones/laptops with full 0-255 range.
Is there any way to configure these settings? In the service settings *#*#7378423#*#* there's options for outputting 1080p/24Hz which is great for movies and works like a charm. Is there way to output 16-235 color range through the HDMI?

[Q] video quality

I tried playing a few videos on my prime and the same videos on a laptop and the videos on the laptop looked so much better. The videos look so dark on the prime and also the skin tones are way more unnatural. I tried dice, stock and mobo player and they all looked the same. I could hardly even tell I switched players.
Is there a good explanation for this or a way to change video settings like gamma, saturation, brightness, sharpness, color etc? The videos were all mkv format....just some TV shows.
It has nothing to do with the videos. The thing is, the prime has this wonky system where if a certain color is displayed, the saturation and tints of the colors turn janky. Sux but performance/balanced mode helps the colors.
Sent from my tablet thing with XDA Premium.

hd dock brightness

i just got the dock with the hdmi out and the three usb ports. i have a minor prob. the output on the tv is too dim compared to the tv shows or when i connect the pc. the settings of display brightness are disabled on the phone menu when it's connected to the tv. is there a way to increase the brightness of the video feed the phone sends to the tv? the tvs brightness is as max but the video sent by the phone is dim

[Q] Change aspect ratio of MHL output?

Having an unusual problem with outputting my AT&T Galaxy S2 (stock rom) over MHL to my television. Most stuff looks fine and is properly mirrored, but a couple of video streaming apps I use have an odd aspect ratio problem. Instead of mirroring exactly what's on my phone's screen, which looks fine, the video on my TV is forced to 4:3. (Not a big Netflix user, so this isn't one of the problem apps.) My TV doesn't have very many aspect ratio options, so the only change I can make there actually doubles the size of the black pillars. Is there anyway to fix this? Another thing I've noticed is that when it's outputting this way, the notification bar is still visible on my phone's screen, but it disappears on the TV.

Netflix goes black when moving mouse cursor

We've got the MediaPad M5 with attached hardware keyboard. (Original Huawei/Fine Triumph Folio keyboard)
In Netflix, as soon as we move the mouse cursor, the video turns black. Sound is still playing, overlays like subtitles and time line are still visible, but the video itself is not. Wait 15 seconds for the mouse cursor to fade away, and the video comes back.
I've also tried YouTube, Plex and the video streaming app for the national TV here, and they do not have this problem.
I've tried re-installing Netflix, rebooting the tablet, changing colour mode & temperature, text & display size, smart resolution, colour correction, mouse pointer size, advanced visual effects, but the problem does not change.
Does anybody know a solution?
I have the same issue but with touch. Idk why

MirrorShare and video?

On my Samsung s9+, using the "Smart View" feature allows me to view the screen and video (from, for instance, the TiVo app) on my fire stick. On my M5, using the "MirrorShare" feature, the screen sharing works right up till video starts playing, then all I see mirrored are the video controls, but not the video itself, it is all black (the sound comes through though). Anyone know why this would be? Is the M5 screen resolution too high to display on a 1080 fire stick or something? (But the samsung has a higher resolution than 1080 display too). Just curious. I can stick with the phone for screen sharing for now.
