Downloaded touch screen test from the market and it gave me this after sliding my finger on the screen a couple of times

Your digitizer is most likely culprit. Did you recently drop your phone? I had the same issue on my old OG EVO after dropping it. It is hardware related not software I'm pretty sure.
Sent from EVO LTE using the XDA app

Was hoping it wasn't hardware! I didn't dropped it.
Well I guess I will have to get a new phone. Lucky I got insurance. Or maybe it would be cheaper fix it. We will see.

Hey, man did you ever solve this problem? It seems like I have the same issue... Haven't dropped my phone either though..

This happened on my OG EVO, had to get it replaced. Fortunately, just had to pay the $37 for a replacement.
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2

Same crap happened to me. Have TEP so I walked into a Sprint store/repair center and walked out an hour later with a repaired phone (replaced entire screen unit for me). :good:
Same exact zone for me too. Manufacturer defect anyway.

What are my options if I bought it second hand? Do I have a manufacturer warranty or would I have to replace the whole screen + digitizer?

Weirdest thing just happened. I'm using my phone like normal, and all of a sudden I realize that the dead strip is working again... I'd already called in for warranty repair but haven't sent it in yet,, wondering if this problem will come back
Sent from my EVO 4G LTE

I had this same problem with a referb phone that I got. Shortly after I got it it had a dead spot which looks like about the same place as yours. I took it in once and of course it started working as I was walking into the Sprint repair center. However it was back to acting up later that day so a couple days later when I was back in the area I stopped in and they said they had to order parts. So a copule days later i went in and they replaced what ever it was (assuming screen being my screen protector was missing) and it's been great ever since! I had the warranty plan so it didnt' cost me anything. Not sure what the parts would normally cost but if you don't have a plan you'll probably just have to pay for a new screen or what ever it is. Just take it in and I'm sure they'll tell you.

Yeah it comes back. I waited for it and brought it to Sprint store to show them. They knew exactly what to do. Apparently it is common here

Yeah same area for me was messed up phone was always kept in otter box. Now new tep phone and updated rooted and s-offed love it
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app

I took my phone back to Sprint and they told me that it is a warranty issue. My phone has been rooted so I'm installing the RUU and making sure that its s-off. My other concern is to make sure that the "tamper" is taken off. Only took me a couple hours and I was able to take it back and they gave me a new phone.

Aight thanks guys! I guess I need to go flash a ruu now

What a Nice Screen I have Mr. Sprint Man

So check this out..
I had my phone charging in my truck. I then went into 7-11 cuz kids were bugging me for a slurpee on this hot as F day. Was in store maybe 10mins.
When I got back into my truck I went to use my phone and it had frozen up so I did a battery pull to boot it back up. After reboot my screen is cut off 1/2" on right side (shown below and taken with my wifes crappy IPhone 4). Now the weird part is..I took a screen shot to post to see if anyone had this problem and after looking at the screen shot the screen shot looks normal.. WTF!!
Anyone have this problem?
Anyways!!
I took it to the sprint store and my replacement will be in Tues.

The screen shot looked normal because the actual homescreen on ur phone is there, however part of your LCD is burnt out.
At least you get a replacement!
Heck Yea!!
And without having to pay $100 deductable
That's actually a known issue the latest version of software was supposed to fix. I think.
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
Since you have half a phone, they should only charge half price to use it.
So if I update theres a chance it will fix or is it to late? I know with update I'll lose root but I am getting a replacement anyways,
OMG!
I wonder what hboot will come with the new refurb phone?
I hope its not 1.50

You can root just fine using HTC's unlock method. You just can't flash kernels or recoveries with modified kernels.

In no way was I or am I blaming Sprint for my screen. I have been a loyal sprint customer probably longer than MOST on here.(Since 1996) I know its not their fault for the faulty screen.
Also!
Even though I didn't mention this is my post, My truck was running with a/c on and of coarse was locked and the title was just something to get peoples attention.

Did you see that awesome picture quality the iPhone took?
My phone is still 100% functional and still outperforms hers hands down even with 1/2" of my screen blank.

Well dang, that sucks...

Started with a stuck pixel last night. It's gotten progressively worse over the day. Thankfully Verizon said they'd replace it.
I wonder if this is a SAmoled Screen issue or a loose wire issue...

This phone is to new for refurbished devices. It'll take a month or two before we start getting refurbished.

Yeah this would be the first phone that I've ever had that happen to. It's kinda shocking. I don't think I'll get a referb with it being so new, but I'll find out tomorrow morning. I sweet talked the rep and got her to ship it overnight. Score haha.
I guess right now it doesn't bother me as much as when it was a stuck pixel. I know the lines there so it doesn't bother me as much. The pixel just annoys the crap outta you because you look for it every time you turn the phone on haha.
I know how that is. Everytime my rezounds screen dark colored I would try to count how many dead pixels I could see in the nickel sized cluster of dead pixels it had. Most i could see were 12 lol. But didnt bother me enough to get a new one.

Just call verizon, sit through their speil. Tell them you have a defective screen. They'll tell you to power cycle the phone, and do a factory restore. It will inevitably end with them sending you a new phone. Everything's gonna be fine

Hell of good luck

My phone broke the other day, so I paid Asurion the $100 deductible and they sent me a refurbished one. It sucked. Terrible build quality. I called them again and they said they are out of Rezounds and will send me some LG crap. I refused, guy talked to his supervisor and got me a Droid DNA. Comes tomorrow. Pumped.

Very nice. Looks like I may have inadvertently helped make this possible for you. Mine had just got a cracked screen so I ordered my replacement Rezound last week from Asurion so it now looks like I got one of the last Rezounds available. At least they included a new battery, battery cover, and new 16gb sd card so I feel like I made out but a DNA would have been nicer. I missed out on this by just a week .:crying: Enjoy...

Well, it isn't all good. The development there isn't as advanced as it is here. Their Android 4.2's seem buggy. And the best Sense 5 rom is a port off the HTC One, not the Butterfly (same phone but japanese version) which had 4.2.2 and Sense 5 rolled out to it. I wish there was a plain old 4.3 out now.... Oh well. You know what they say. If you don't like it, change it. Time for me to start learning how to develop!

Do it! They probably will give you a replacement Rezound. Try the flash on the camera. All the Asurion rebuilt Rezounds has like a reddish hue. Complain and they should try again. If it's the same problem then their policy says you get a new one, not a refurbished one. Hopefully they are still out of new ones and you get merry pickings on a new phone. Try and see if they will give you an iPhone 5. Sell on Ebay for full price and get a brand new/new phone *cough* HTC One

In my opinion I think it's a hardware issue since if it was software then we would all have it.

Yeah the update didn't fix crap. In fact, it made the phone less smooth too.
I also have the same problem. My friend has a One without this problem. When comparing the two phones side by side, there's a huge difference. Mine has a significant amount of pink and purple.
I have the purple hue still and I called tmobile and getting a replacement so I hope it is better.

I'm also prepaid. Since I bought mine on Swappa, what they're doing is putting 8 bucks of phone insurance on my account, swapping the phone, then replacing it - but the guy at the store said I might get a refurb, and other than the camera, mine was -new-. I also just spoke with HTC, and they offered to let me send it in for repair, and have just the camera sensor replaced. Can someone who's gotten an insurance replacement recently speak to me here and tell me if I'm better off going with HTC repair, or T-mobile insurance replacement to fix this? I've heard some horror stories about refurbs having yellowed screens - and the screen on mine is really nice and new.
[edited for grammar]
of course it's still there, it was ALWAYS a hardware problem. All you had to do was switch different ROMs to see that, from CM to stock, the purple HUE was always there.
HTC knows this so it put out some bull**** reason that it was software and now claim 4.3 fixes it. I bet you they won't acknowledge it anymore to be able to just avoid the issue...and to think I decided to give HTC another chance. cannot WAIT for Nexus 5.
Is it possible to have this phone replaced through HTC where they send you a replacement first and then you send in your phone later? I can't go a week without having a phone to use.

HTC did not offer me that, or a replacement of any kind when I spoke to them the other day about it. All they would do was repair the device if I sent it to them. Admittedly I didn't press them very hard, but still...
I'll probably just take my replacement from T-Mobile insurance, unless someone here tells me it's a horrible idea.

Got a replacement from T-Mobile and they sent me a brand new phone with a FA39.... Serial number! It's night and day with the photo clarity at night, the images are sharper and the blacks are black not pink or in my case with my old One, blue. So it's definitely worth spending 15 min. talking to a tmobile rep to get a replacement, they were very friendly and didn't send me on some pointless factory reset trip.

Yes I was. Everyone should be. There's a manufacturer warranty of one year. You pay T-Mobile $5 to send it back to HTC and they send you a replacement phone in the mail. Luckily for me they had a new phone in stock and sent me that instead of a return! Make the call it's worth it just tell them you've researched it online and KNOW FOR A FACT it's a hardware issue!

Now mines was clear before the update. Same room same ligthing, the only different is the update on my phone.
So i hope it can be fix in a new update and that its not a hardware problem, because i really dont wanna send in my phone when everything else works great and no screen gap.

Free replacement to the HTC one

I work for a sprint repair center and we noticed the other day that people coming in with issues with their phone and needed replacements that we had the option to give them an HTC one!! We thought at first it was because the evo lte was on backorder but it's not. It gives us the option of either or. So hey if any of you guys want to take advantage of this free upgrade with insurance then get your Ass to a repair center!!
Edit: btw this does not effect your upgrade or contract it acts as a simple swap

As long as there is no physical or water damage to your device you can get it for $50. But act quick because I believe that will be going up for all non-insurance replacements on the 8th to $75

Does anything actually have to be wrong with the phone or can I just take it in.. If not I can break it some how..
Is this threw asurion? If it is, isn't the deductible $150 because it's a "premium" device? Still $150 for a HTC One is pretty damn good.
Edit: 8th hour at work, reading comprehension at low levels. Lol.
Gonna go to the main store in my town since they have a repair center, after a "failed" hboot update

LoL just remember the One does not have a SD slot!
Has anyone traded in their phone yet and received a One? Please share your experience!

I may be SOL then. The crack I have is a single line from the back button to just about an half inch above the recent apps button. Who knows though? I've always believed a sturdy case would protect me (had the same case for my OG EVO and that was flawless), but I guess not. I could call in and try tmrw morning. I have TEP insurance.
I'm waiting for a replacement right now. They said my EVO will be here Friday. No talk of the one or of being on back order.

So they're giving you an Evo to replace your Evo and not a One, correct?
Is this only for the EVOLTE, I still have my OG EVO, it's in perfect shape. I'll give it up, I like the LTE, has an sd slot!

Correct. They did not mention the one. Not to bash og post but it may just be in your area. They were taking evo phones for trade left and right when the one came out. I'm sure refurbs are in supply.

Might've been limited to certain areas. Ugh. Did you ask? I remember having to do the same with my gf's Thunderbolt. Was so butt of a phone that Verizon (or at least Asurion) eventually upgraded it to a Rezound. After I asked though.
