I thought this problem was supposed to be resolved with 4.3?

In my opinion I think it's a hardware issue since if it was software then we would all have it.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
Yeah the update didn't fix crap. In fact, it made the phone less smooth too.
I also have the same problem. My friend has a One without this problem. When comparing the two phones side by side, there's a huge difference. Mine has a significant amount of pink and purple.
I have the purple hue still and I called tmobile and getting a replacement so I hope it is better.

I'm also prepaid. Since I bought mine on Swappa, what they're doing is putting 8 bucks of phone insurance on my account, swapping the phone, then replacing it - but the guy at the store said I might get a refurb, and other than the camera, mine was -new-. I also just spoke with HTC, and they offered to let me send it in for repair, and have just the camera sensor replaced. Can someone who's gotten an insurance replacement recently speak to me here and tell me if I'm better off going with HTC repair, or T-mobile insurance replacement to fix this? I've heard some horror stories about refurbs having yellowed screens - and the screen on mine is really nice and new.
[edited for grammar]
of course it's still there, it was ALWAYS a hardware problem. All you had to do was switch different ROMs to see that, from CM to stock, the purple HUE was always there.
HTC knows this so it put out some bull**** reason that it was software and now claim 4.3 fixes it. I bet you they won't acknowledge it anymore to be able to just avoid the issue...and to think I decided to give HTC another chance. cannot WAIT for Nexus 5.
Is it possible to have this phone replaced through HTC where they send you a replacement first and then you send in your phone later? I can't go a week without having a phone to use.

HTC did not offer me that, or a replacement of any kind when I spoke to them the other day about it. All they would do was repair the device if I sent it to them. Admittedly I didn't press them very hard, but still...
I'll probably just take my replacement from T-Mobile insurance, unless someone here tells me it's a horrible idea.

Got a replacement from T-Mobile and they sent me a brand new phone with a FA39.... Serial number! It's night and day with the photo clarity at night, the images are sharper and the blacks are black not pink or in my case with my old One, blue. So it's definitely worth spending 15 min. talking to a tmobile rep to get a replacement, they were very friendly and didn't send me on some pointless factory reset trip.

Yes I was. Everyone should be. There's a manufacturer warranty of one year. You pay T-Mobile $5 to send it back to HTC and they send you a replacement phone in the mail. Luckily for me they had a new phone in stock and sent me that instead of a return! Make the call it's worth it just tell them you've researched it online and KNOW FOR A FACT it's a hardware issue!

Yeah but I'm not taking my chances with a refurb. My phone is flawless, and my tint isn't as bad as some of these pics I've seen from others.

No it came in a generic box that ihad to pave my defective unit in to ship back to htc but judging from the serial number it's a new phone. Unfortunately there was dusty underneath the screen and i have another one on the way! hopefully it will be new like this one!

See i thought it was just me.
I didnt have this problem untill i ugraded to 4.3 Now i get this purpleat the bottom of the screen in low light.
My girl is on the same update and hers is clear.
Now mines was clear before the update. Same room same ligthing, the only different is the update on my phone.
So i hope it can be fix in a new update and that its not a hardware problem, because i really dont wanna send in my phone when everything else works great and no screen gap.

Ok so I dropped my shooter this morning while getting out of my truck to pump gas. I completely forgot it was on my lap. The screen did not brake but the plastic or metal piece around the screen got dented and pushed up a little bit. It does not effect the phones performance in any way. Would this be covered since its only cosmetic? If so I am worried about having them fix it because I still have hboot 1.4 unlocked and s-off. I do not want them to update anything. All I want it for them to fix what's broken and nothing else. Would they take it upon themselves to update it even if I told them not to. I have used the insurance once before but that was only a couple of days after release date so hboot 1.5 didn't exist yet. My phone jumped out of my pocket while I was up in my tower Crane 240ft up. Yeah there was no saving that phone. The guys at bestbuy said they had never seen anything like it. I was kind of proud of my accomplishment and very glad I had the insurance. It paid for itself the very first week.

Having dealt with best buy insurance a number of times. Yes. Its covered. No, they probably won't actually fix it. They will replace it with a refurbished one and it will take a few days to ship it to you. The refurb will likely have H1.50 or even 1.6... I dunno. I read that a couple people got 1.6
:-\
Well that sucks. Maybe I will try to find someone to fix it for me then. I don't want to deal with all the crap that comes with 1.5 or 1.6. Its definitely worth it for me just to pay to have it done. My insurance has already paid for itself anyway.

So I call my local sprint repair store to see how much it would cost to fix my phone. The Guy I talked to told me that they are not set up to fix cosmetic damage. They will only fix it if it effects the performance of the phone. I told him this is not an insurance claim and I am paying out of pocket for the repair. His answer was to take it to a third party to have it fixed. I don't get it, damage is damage. Its not like they are a body shop and need a paint Booth to fix the thing. Well I guess I wont be giving them any of my future business, witch I am sure they could care less about.

On fire, possibly????
Radioactive???
Maybe a phone that had Tourette's Syndrome???
Holy Moly.
(BTW, glad you got insurance to cover that..
It would've gotten old, really quickly, having to keep pulling that monstrosity out of your pocket....)

I thought the whole selling point behind the Black Tie insurance policy was to replace the phone in store with a new or upgraded model and not a refurb/used one if they cannot fix it. Asurion will either send out a new or refurb one after you pay the deductible.
No the selling point is you don't fork out 100$ if u break it however it can take weeks before u get it back

sprint does not REPAIR cosmetic damage, hence the analogy. a body shop is a repair shop, but theyre not going to fix a blown engine. a mechanic is a repair shop, but theyre not going to pound out dents for you. you have a cosmetic issue, sprint repairs functional issues. therefore, youre barking up the wrong tree.

Why is that dumb? That's the point of insurance, you pay the deductible to avoid paying 600 bucks for a brand new phone off contract.
The only other solution is to buy a digitizer and lcd off ebay and try to install it yourself. I wouldn't recommend it as you will probably spend close to 100 bucks anyway and nothing is guaranteed to work properly.
I personally would rather pay any amount of many than be given a refurb.
If I buy a new car that fails within a week, I wouldn't expect the dealer to replace it with a used car. May not be a perfect analogy but no way I'm paying almost $100/year, to then have to pay a deductible only to be mailed(slow) a refurb. Insurance is a scam.

I agree 100% with this and actually argued that very point with sprint one time and was able to get my account/contract reset so that I could purchase a new phone at the discounted new contract price. Took about 6 hours over 2 days on the phone with them. But worth the time to avoid the refurbished phone, deductible, etc. Of course I didn't drop it, but still.

If you buy a new phone that fails within 30 days, they give you a brand new replacement. After 30 days, your device is considered used.
And that doesn't even really apply to this case anyway, it wasn't a defect, the user dropped it.
your careless with your phone, and think Sprint should give you a free one? How about this, I buy your computer monitor from you, smash it against a wall, then demand you give me another one for free.

Order replacement glass on eBay for like $20 and fix it yourself. It's not hard at all, just make sure you use the proper tools, caution, some in depth research, and very descriptive tutorial (preferably a video with a step by step text description). Just look around Google, YouTube, RootzWiki, and XDA for more information. If you have any problems finding anything, feel free to PM me and I'll help out as best as I can. Maybe I'll write up a walkthrough for XDA when I have the time.

That sucks man I have never broken the glass on my phone... Sometimes sprint may fix it or a 3rd party store like a sprint store not the main one like the one you went too... Some of the smaller stores may fix it for you.. Just gotta check around... I know some places replace the glass for 50 bucks lol beats 100 for a refurbished unit...
Doesn't cost too much if you know what your doing you can fix it your self... Tho if you have warranty on it I wouldn't pull it apart due to voiding your warranty...

That wasn't dumb, it was a correct answer. That's what u have to pay insurance for a broken phone. I can't see the pic but if its just the screen, my buddy got a screen replacement at a Sprint repair store for 50 bucks. And good luck with ascurion. Their reps are pathetic and rude

My 3D was stolen at work about 3 weeks ago. Filed an insurance claim with Sprint around 6PM the same day, woke up the next morning around noon (lol morning) and the FedEx guy was there with my phone. It was brand new in the box, not a refurb.
So,
1) Slow shipping? Took 18 hours from order to delivery
2) Refurb? This phone is still pretty new and wasn't an awesome seller, so there aren't a ton of refurbs in the warehouse, they normally just send out new phones
3) Always remember to keep your 3G data turned on, even if there is no connection, no telling when some asshole will walk by and yoink it.
Hope this helps everybody!

So my Evo came in the mail today, after I canceled my order after hearing they were being held by customs. Sprint canceled my line, and is processing my refund, they said it should take around 6 days, which is 3 days from now. They must've just sent out all of the packaged Evos. Either way, I don't have a contract with Sprint, and I'm playing with the new Evo here! Anyone on the same boat as me?

I probably would have kept the phone and paid full price if they did.

The exact same thing happened to me, and I am staring at this thing knowing it's too good to be true... I tried to find out where sprint covers this scenario in their terms and conditions but couldn't find anything. Also I didn't see any preorder cancellation policy. I'd assume they will find out.
I canceled my order just before the customs fiasco began, same day just a couple hours before the news got out. The girl who helped me said I needed to hold while she verifies the phone hasn't shipped, and she came back saying everything is done my order is canceled.

This is the reason that they stopped canceling preorders. Their system is messed up, and even if the order was canceled, the phone would ship. I'd say hold on to it for a while, see what happens

This is exactly what would seem to make sense, but it takes into assumption that they have the right to enforce it. Frankly, Sprint "should" have this right. But that has to be in writing for them to act, no? They must have authorization to withdraw funds from your account to initiate any charge. Without your express consent, they would need to prove that you agreed to terms that allow them to make further charges in given circumstances... i.e. unexpected circumstances causing errors regarding canceled preorders. Terms that hold me responsible, even if the error is neither Sprint's nor my own fault.
I'm not saying that I think this means is clearly have the right to keep the phone and Sprint is screwed because this is a unprecedented issue affecting a very narrow field of customers... and I'm prob gonna have to send it back. I'm saying that I'm trying to do my homework because I know they have to be able to back up taking action regardless if it's their fault or not that I still received it.
And so far, I haven't seen any clauses that this falls into... notice I said "so far" because this "should" be covered somewhere. I wish I knew someone who worked for sprint, like a cs manager or something who would know how this honestly works.

The honest thing to do would be to just call Sprint and ask them what they would like you to do with it. I would've refused the delivery from UPS in the first place...Okay I lie, so I would've probably opened it too.

If anyone was wondering, I got my 200$ back in my bank, I still have the Evo, and do not have a contract with Sprint. ESN is clean.

Once they figure out what happened, the ESN probably won't be clean much longer....

They most likely won't change your card but they can and will bill you for it and when you don't pay they can and will send it to a collection agent dinging your credit.

Agreed. I just saw a news story where 69k was deposited accidentally into some guys account. He spent most of the money and is now in for some serious felony charges. I'm not trying to be a Debbie downer or a sober Salley. But if you try to get away with this without 700 dollars in your account... I wish you the best of luck.
Sprint will just send your info to a collections company. Happend to me when I got a replacement razr with rogers. They sent me the replacement phone and didnt give me return instructions to send the borked phone back. Tried calling them about it and they told me, ''the matter has been forwarded to collections.''

This is a thread to keep track of people who have successfully swapped out their black LTEVo for the white one. Obviously if you are within your first 14 days that is no problem but for those of use who aren't people this thread may shed some light on how to go about getting the white one.
I'm in my first 14 days

Ehh, I'd like to have the white one, but I think my only option is to sell this one and buy it. I hate the way the white version always comes out later.. Annoying as hell

Indeed.
I asked a rep at a store if it'd be possible. I didn't attempt.
They said maybe through repairs if the situation fit, retentions if you were desperate or a manager with pull, otherwise I'd have to be within the 14 day period.
Didn't expect the rep to say this much about it.

ill bite. maybe someone can elaborate. i tried swapping out today......in my 14 days, well 3 sprint stores, and a bestbuy, nobody has the damn thing!!! no white. only black. so how would i go about getting the white at this point? i called 1 800 number they said i could return to the store i got it from, and go through them. or i could return it, get refunded with a damn check, pay for the 10 days of service i have used, and restocking fee, then buy it when it hits the store? stupid imo!!! i dont know probably gonna just have to stick with the black? any ideas?

Wow, everyone in my region has it. I'd ask how soon the restock would be & then refund the phone if it's too close to the said day.
It all depends on how bad you want it.

I'm going to try the retention route and expressed how disappointed I am that I was not made aware that a one one would be released. I have been with sprint for 7 years always pay my bill on time and I never complain but this is an exception
Eh, was going to try, until I saw the white one in person, at the store.........
I prefer the original black one a LOT more, except for the stupid soft touch rubber on it.
Honestly its nothing special. They always cone out with the white one later.
You signed on early with the black one. Keep it.

You guys are the reason we are gonna be paying $300 on contract soon. Just keep your black Evo and swap with someone on Craigslist later. It's not that deep. Something so small can create a big mess sooner or later.

I have a black one and the vibration motor is loose and rattles every time I hit a key. I'm about 30 days into it, but I'm going to take it in this week and if I can get ta white one to replace it I will, but if not not no biggie. I don't know if they will swap me with a new one or give a refurb, but it's worth a shot.

Ok here's the deal guys. I have successfully returned my black for white!! And its boss!! Way better lookin than the black imo. I was within my 14 days, had to pay 35 restocking fee. Didn't mind paying it. Also, since I didn't c this answered.....it came with old firmware!!!! But u have to tell them not to accept that update, because the guy was going to...I told him not to, and that I wanted to c a changelog first. So I'm golden!!! A success! Rooting and s-off ing right now!!

I work for a sprint repair center and we noticed the other day that people coming in with issues with their phone and needed replacements that we had the option to give them an HTC one!! We thought at first it was because the evo lte was on backorder but it's not. It gives us the option of either or. So hey if any of you guys want to take advantage of this free upgrade with insurance then get your Ass to a repair center!!
Edit: btw this does not effect your upgrade or contract it acts as a simple swap

Dang, I missed the boat on this. Sprint told me if I paid the $50 deductible, they'd give me a replacement. I did a free replacement through BB black tie instead hoping to get a voucher. Got a refurb instead.

As long as there is no physical or water damage to your device you can get it for $50. But act quick because I believe that will be going up for all non-insurance replacements on the 8th to $75

What if there is physical damage? I have a hairline crack on my screen...mind you I have a Seidio Convert Rugged case (sat at an odd angle and somehow did the impossible)
Would I be able to do the same?

Does anything actually have to be wrong with the phone or can I just take it in.. If not I can break it some how..
Is this threw asurion? If it is, isn't the deductible $150 because it's a "premium" device? Still $150 for a HTC One is pretty damn good.
Edit: 8th hour at work, reading comprehension at low levels. Lol.
Gonna go to the main store in my town since they have a repair center, after a "failed" hboot update

I may be SOL then. The crack I have is a single line from the back button to just about an half inch above the recent apps button. Who knows though? I've always believed a sturdy case would protect me (had the same case for my OG EVO and that was flawless), but I guess not. I could call in and try tmrw morning. I have TEP insurance.
I'm waiting for a replacement right now. They said my EVO will be here Friday. No talk of the one or of being on back order.

So they're giving you an Evo to replace your Evo and not a One, correct?

Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
Correct. They did not mention the one. Not to bash og post but it may just be in your area. They were taking evo phones for trade left and right when the one came out. I'm sure refurbs are in supply.

Might've been limited to certain areas. Ugh. Did you ask? I remember having to do the same with my gf's Thunderbolt. Was so butt of a phone that Verizon (or at least Asurion) eventually upgraded it to a Rezound. After I asked though.
