ive searched for things such as "sleep crash", "sleep bug", "screen wont turn on" etc. but can seem to find anything that tells me anything other than turn off wifi (which i tried to no avail). My issue is that when i press the power button for 1 second to turn off my archos 70 screen it will not turn back on. Same thing happens when i let it fall asleep. If i leave it plugged in and not allow it to turn off screen i have no issues. My apologies if i just don't know what words to search for ... i tried. In on the .4 firmware (latest) with no mods. This has happened through the last 3 firmwares from archos. Any ideas?
Have a you tried a full reinitialization (in settings > repair and formatting) and then reinstalling the latest firmware? If you have just been updating the firmware, the problem may have been deeper.
Thats strange... I have a similar issue with my 101: when i leave my tablet asleep for more than 20min, I can't turn it back on without doing a hard reset. Now it only happens when I simply shut off the screen and leave it alone. If I hold the power button and use deep sleep though, it works just fine. When I can't get it started I notice the little power light is on, but the screen stays black... any suggestions??
I have read somewhere in this forums that re-calibrating your screen from Settings might help, but I still didn't tied - if someone try please post results.

i had the same problem on my 32, albeit not that frequently. Downloading the FW and reflashing it seems to have made the problem go away.
You know what? Strangely enough after I replied to your post I downloaded the latest fw (2.1.4) and the problem seems to have gone away no special flash no repair I just installed and rebooted and so far no prob... I will keep testing this and post results
Edit* Ok so far so good... no problems. I'm actually surprised I'm getting better response from the device despite everyone's warnings about 2.1.4. But that's another topic. I think its just a bad install of your current FW, but I'm just guessing... My device has had the issue since I got it, I just decided to live with it but like I said the latest update fixed it... So it HAS to be the FW

err I'm afraid that I spoke too soo. My device keeps getting stuck and won't awake from sleep. This seems to happen most after switching wifi on or off, specifically whilst the device is playing music.

how are you installing the firmware? maybe im doing it wrong. I let the device update to latest 2.1.4 and then i wiped it via the settings and repair menu in android.
Edit**
like this??:
Step 1: Download the android 2.2 firmware for your archos tablet from here, you might a get a false positive notification from your browser as they are unaware of .AOS format, so ignore that and download it.
Step 2:Go to Menu > Settings > Device Storage & USB connection > USB connection mode of your tablet and set the connection mode to Mobile Media Device (MTP) and now connect your Tablet to pc.
Step 3:Now when the tablet is detected you will see a hard drive icon, double tap and open it and copy and paste the firmware (.AOS) file into the hard drive(make sure you dont copy it in any folder inside it like Music,Videos etc).
Unplug the USB connection and the Archos device will automatically locate the update file and will prompt you for the update, just follow the screen options and you are done,if it does not prompt you for an update then you might have accidentally misplaced the file in one of the folders, just locate the .AOS file from the file manager and and open it to start the update.
No no it wasn't that complicated... It was actually the simplest fix for a difficult problem. My device when I got it was running 2.1.2 out the box... Even then It had the screen problem. When I got the chance I installed 2.1.3 OVER THE AIR. Straight from Archos. Still had the issue though, I figured it would have been fixed but was greatly disappointed... Then I sort of just lived with the problem for awhile... I saw that the 2.1.4 update was released but was wary about downloading it because sooo many people are having issues. Just the other day though, the device cut off on me again and I figured to hell with it... So I downloaded the 2.1.4 OTA as well... no website, no manual install, I just let the device run its course on its own. After the update, it rebooted normally and it's been working great since... Sorry to hear not everyone is so fortunate... I really hope this helps somewhat
I recently bought Galaxy S III and installed many applications. S voice isn't working right thou, but I managed to create a website using gs3 for only 2 hours!!
This phone is so fast that everything happens for seconds! if you have gs3 go to puzl. com and check out what you can do!
But do you know how make S voice work? Even when I'm connected to Wi-Fi or using my mobile data it says Connection Error?
Yep
Same Problem here. First time Android user, but 16 years in IT, and 4 year iphone user. Love the O/S, but how does one figure out what's conflicting with S-voice?
same
My issue is similar, not the connection error. Whenever I speak a command, it types it out correctly and then does nothing. Any ideas on how to fix?

I think it only does nothing when the app isn't compatible. ie winamp works fine but playerpro doesn't.
other than that it works fine for me. I've used other versions of vlingo on other devices and it's nowhere near as good as this.
are all of you OUT OF THE BOX users....or have you done other things to your phones??
I have the same problem s voice worked at 1st then the next day it stopped working. I have only downloaded the normal android apps.
Same Problem
I spoke with a level 2 tech at Samsung and was informed that I needed to do a factory reset.
So I got my phone almost two weeks ago when It got released.. Basically it's amazing and everything works fine except that when I play Temple run or Magic Piano these two games that I tried out are so good and they run smoothly but the speaker gives me cracked sounds like I can't hear smooth sound coming out from the speaker without cracking up I tried to use a headphone and restart my phone, hard reset and it's still the same. I don't know why I get this issue I saw few people they were saying that temple run and magic piano works so fine with them. Not sure if it's a hardware issue.
---
My device also heats a lot when using it, like playing a game or just browsing and listening to songs nothing that uses lot's of graphics or anything but I get lot's of overheating issues. Could it also be a battery issue or that's normal?
I'll be taking it to service tonight to check it up It's so unusual and I don't like how it's really bad although it's a new phone and I don't use it a lot.
Thanks
Yes from what you have mentioned, it looks like you have a defective unit and they can replace the device. The behavior is not normal.
same problem
i recently bought the s3 and im having the same problem.. apart from this the phone screen tends to be a bit yellow when im using whats app.. what did the samsung guy say to when you took the phone to the service station??
Same again...
Snap. I've had my Galaxy S3 since last Saturday and have exactly the same issue. So far it seems to affect Temple Run, Mass Effect Infiltrator, Magic Piano and Real Racing 2. All of them have crackled, distorted sound that makes them near unplayable with the sound turned on.
Bizzarely this is the only thread I can find that even mentions the issue! Please can you let us know what Samsung's feedback is?
temple run with and without headphones gives perfect sound for me
solved... or not?
try doing a factory data reset.. it worked for me.. but someone i spoke to said that the problem came back after a while.. after he installed a launcher... i dont know if using a launcher causes this problem but as of now.. running stock touch wiz... both temple run and magic piano work fine..
Hey guys..I have a brand new s3 and it is also exhibiting the same issues with temple run. The sound shutters ( would appreciate if anyone found a fix to this.. I have a galaxy s3 white international version.
+1
3 weeks old S3. Cracking noises when I used the speaker during phone calls.
When other party speaks => clear
When I speak => crack, crack, crack especially the first few words
Tried setting call quality, no improvement. Not sure if this is a hardware issue?
I had the same issue, but aparently this had something to do with one of the updates. Yesterday's update solved this issue.
Temple run runs without any issue.smooth.will be checking other games too after downloading

Well guyz even I was facing the same problem but I finally figured out whats the exact issue...All u need to do is go to settings ----> Sound ----> Disable Auto Heptic or click on auto heptic ----> Mark the application you want it to be disabled for.
Well one more thing...Its is turned off by default so if you will reset your phone it will work ....I happened to turn it on accidentally without knowing whats exactly it is and I am sure that most of you must have did the same thing....!!!!

Good for you. My heptic feedback is always off. Still have speaker cracking.
Just did a factory reset. Have to monitor and see if it solves the problem.

I'm getting the exact same issue with the games above...haven't seen the issue arise with any other apps so I'm not too worried however it would be great if a fix was found
Edit: Just tried turning off auto haptic in sound settings and strangely enough this actually fixes this problem for me :s
It's a common fault, return the unit and get a new one.
Gob done.

To fix that, you have to open S-Voice> Settings> uncheck Launch S-Voice by double tapping home button
Thanks everybody. I had the problems with home button lag and temple run and the fixes described here worked perfectly.

2 days ago my Camera app stopped working either through the hardware button or software all it does is play the opening app animation and return back to the previous screen. Ive tried soft and hard resets of the phone and now ive even reflashed it via NCS to no avail. Now at this point youd think it would be a hardware thing, but apps like "panorama" and "smart shoot" still work and so do all the other camera apps ive downloaded. Anyone managed to fix this?
You seem to be the only one whom has had this issue and reported it. So no, no fix as of now since you are alone on this one.
same here

same thing happened to my phone since yesterday and I've tried hard reset but nothing changes.. Camera only works through smartshoot and if I try to open it just using the original app, or use the camera button, it just won't open and turn back to the home screen

I have exactly the same problem. After 5 days of perfect use of everything, the phone overheated, drained completely within a couple of hours and now it has a permanent problem with the camera: either black screen when launching the camera app, or if it launches, pink stripes and frozen app after 10-15 seconds. It cannot be just a random problem on one device. I've seen the same description of the problem on various forums.
Has Nokia responded on this?
The funny thing is that I live in Greece, the device was bought during a trip abroad and it's not covered by warranty! Regarding Nokia's amazing support policy I have written details at my blog nextbeta.com.
(I'm not a smartphone user that cannot understand what is a bug and what is a hardware problem, 8 years MVP for Mobile Devices and founder of the Greek Mobillity Club in 2001...)
Have you flashed the newest ROM or an older version? Perhaps you might want to try it with the Release ROM to see if that fixes things. Aside from that I fear your only option is to turn it in at a service center and let them figure out what is wrong.
Given that the Flash rewrites the whole system it somehow has to be connected with the hardware.
Unsure if this a problem caused by CM 10.1 or android 4.2.2 but using both jellybam and paranoidkangdroid I am unable to put the screen to sleep, the hardware button still works for shutting down just not turning off screen. I also have a hard time getting music to play, requires reboots and shutting down of apollo app, unsure of which of these actually does the trick or if its just luck.
Part of the symtoms include a flashing black screen, what it looks like is a black overlay with part of the status bar still visible. As well as rare random reboots.
Does anyone know if this a problem with the i717 and the most up to date roms or something else.
Help much appreciated thanks.
The only issue I can comment on is Apollo. Mine you have to select the music you want or hit play, wait, hit back when the app freezes and then wait for the pop up saying "Apollo has stopped working". Press Ok and go back into the app and hit play or the song you chose again to get it working. After that the app works amazing! I think it actually is a common problem on 4.2.2 but can't say for sure. The rest, I don't really know what to suggest. Sorry
Best of luck to you

I'm getting this same issue in JellyBAM, PAkangdroid, and CM10.1 M-release (2013-04-11 latest). Re-flashing the ROM in recovery seems to fix it for a while, but I still haven't been able to narrow down a root cause yet.
