Thanks the riports! I i will fix the volume button boot and i will work more with this recovery in next week.
But i need a bit help to the volume button, because i don't have the device, please do this and riport to me:
Open commander and go to adb shell
write this to there: cat /dev/input/event0 and pressing the volume- button in the phone.
If you don't see anything, unplug the phone, plug again, go to adb shell an type this:
cat /dev/input/event1
(and change the number in the end, while you don't see anything like in the screenshot, when you pressing the vol- button)

Thank you thank you thank you!
We're so lucky to have something like this now!
I have one problem already however, I wiped everything, tried to restore a backup from when I got my Sola (Gingerbread) and it just killed the phone, couldn't enter recovery. I've flashed many of my older Xperia devices and I don't know what went wrong. I thought maybe the kernel but the backup takes the kernel too, no? I'm flashing ICS with the flasher, re-root et. but I'm just tyring to figure out what went wrong.

THANK YOU It's working
Keep going !

Works 100% on sola, no problems?
-because nandroid backup is very slow to ext card/sd card
-rom flash works?

Again made a .sh equivalent to the .bat file.
Didn't test this one (it shouldn't be that different from the U one) but please be cautious!

1.Turn off your phone
2.Reboot it back
3.The first Sony Ericsson should show up,don't waste your energy to press the volume rocker (down) button
4.When the boot animation played, press the volume rocker button several time until you enter the Clockwork Mod Recovery OR wait until the blue led appear (which only around 2 seconds I think) and press the volume rocker button several time until you entered the CWM Recovery

Doesn't matter how many times you click it, once is enough, but you can more also.
I always, when restarting, I do other stuff while clicking the volume down button rapidly, too lazy to wait.
nothing works except xparts... Help!
Okay I rooted my LWW with stock ICS 4.1.B.0.587 and installed CWM through xparts.
I can boot into CWM through xparts, create backup and also have flashed it back.
But the problem is, I can boot into CWM only through xparts. I tried manually as explained above (pressing volume down key and when it didn't work, tried the volume up key too) but nothing works. Every time I try, it boots into system and I've to go through xparts to boot in CWM.
My concern is I'm afraid to install any custom ROM's now. If my phone gets stuck in boot loop, I won't be able to boot into system and hence no xparts and no CWM.
How to have a full fledged recovery CWM, like I had in HTC Pico/Explorer(A310e) which could be booted through it's fastboot menu.
Please help, I'll definitely press thanks.
Have you tried installing a custom kernel? Flash your specified kernel through flashtool and boot to CWM via the button. As soon as you see the Sony sign continuously press the volume down key.
Hope this helps

If you tried the methods above with no joy it obviously isn't installed. With the cwm you are trying is there a .bat file in the download on your computer. If so while your phone is plugged into PC run the bat file and follow onscreen instructions. Then try launching cwm again. If you havnt managed it yet leave a message and I'll find it.

I am posting here as I am facing the same problem.
I have been following this guide to flash my phone with CM10 from ICS stock rom.
h#ttp#://androidlegend.com/xperia-s-update-to-android-4-1-jelly-bean-with-cyanogenmod-10/
I have successfully followed everything done previously, including Unlocking the bootloader, getting root access, installing busybox, using RecoverX to install CWM.
I copied the FXP150-cm-10.1-20121209-UNOFFICIAL-mint.zip to sdcard, is it this that is required to flash to ROM or the boot.img that is inside the zip?
And I am stuck on that part where I have to reboot into recovery mode. I have tried
a) Connecting my phone and opening fastboot mode and then try to keep the vol up pressed to open recovery mode.
b) Without connecting, powering my phone on and pressing volume up. But there is no blue LED
c) Without connecting, powering my phone on and continuously tapping on sony logo. After that Xperia logo.
But I can not enter the recovery mode.
A little guidance please?
Flashing CM needed a seperate kernel. Keep following the instructions to use fastboot to flash the boot.img
Power the phone off. Hold vol + then plug the USB cable in. There should be a blue light.
Poorly written tutorial IMO. Should be flashing kernel first then the rom to save some panic.
I asked the Sony-Support, they say that there is no recovery-mode.(for Xperia U, but they are the "same")

Guys, dont ask Sony cause stock ROM doesnt have recovery.
If you want to flash CM you must fastboot the boot.img inside the zip file, before that put the ROM into your phone memory, power on the phone and keep pressing vol up, enter into CM recovery and flash rom from phone memory. Wipe before and after.
Agree, stock ROM doesn't have Recovery Mode. When you turn your phone with VOL_UP, nothing happens :cyclops:

try flashing it again, maybe your first flash had an error.
Met the same problem and here what I did:
-Take off the battery in 10 minutes and put it back
-Plug the charger into the phone and do the logging in CWM steps (press and hold the volumme up, press the power button).

Unable to boot CWM

Hi,
I've just rooted my Sony Ericsson xperia neo, unlocked the bootloader using Sony's website, and just installed CWM using the 'install-cwm1' script in the usual 'CWM-Install.rar' file used for installing Clockworkmod recovery.
Everything has worked fine so far, and I have root access and unlocked bootloader. The script pushes all the files correctly to my Neo and seems to install CWM just fine. However, I can't seem to boot my phone into CWM at all.
I've tried holding volume down and power, volume up and down and power, and the back key and power, but none of them get me into the CWM menu at boot, they just boot the phone as normal.
Anyone got any suggestions, or am I missing something really obvious here? I did a search on the forums and couldn't seem to find anything about this problem.
Thanks for your help,
Rory.

Dont press the buttons at the same time.
Press the power button untill it starts to turn on. then keep pressing and letting go and pressing (Very quickly) the BACK button whilst the boot screen appears.
Or you can install xperia reboot options from the market (There is a free version in the x10 thread from DooMLoRD, who developed the app). That has the option to reboot into recovery, so if you have cmw installed correctly it will boot into it without having to press any buttons.
This is DooMLoRDs link to xperiarebootoptions app.

[Q] Help - bootloop xperia p

hi, i'm the stupid noob that have bricked his friend's phone. now my siutation is:
no system
no recovery
no possibility to go on fastboot mode
Why?
Because after a full format (i have formatted /system /data /cache 'n /sdcard ), i've decompressed the .elf file containing the latest jb firmware, and then i flashed "kernel.sin" (in boot partition) and "system.sin" (in system partiition) via fastboot (i used fastboot because adb said me "device unauthorized") .
after flashing these files, phone is in a situation of bootloop, there isn't a recovery (because the stock jb kernel that i've flashed doesn't contain a recovery) and doesn't go on fastboot mode. The blu light is on but "fastboot devices" say me that the phone is not connected.
Any idea about a solution? many thanks and sorry for my bad english

thanks man for the information, finally i discovered that if u long press power+volume up+volume down the device will power off. so i've powered off it and plugin in flash mode. resolved! many thanks
I actually dun remember bt there is a three/two Button combo that forces power off... once powered off.. u can easily achieve flashmode ...
I guess its power plus volume down

[Q] sola doesn't boot after flashing a zip (soft-bricked?)

i was using some jelly bean sony rom by divaksh (it had cwm touch) and i wanted to try the new cm10.2 rom by munjeni
i downloaded the cm10.2, put it on my external sd card through a usb micro-sd reader and then put the µsd back in the phone
i selected "reboot to recovery" from the phone's power menu (i had an xposed module for more power menu options)
then i noticed that the phone didn't reboot, but it had turned off completely
i held the power button and the phone vibrated but didn't power on
it powered on on the second try, i then went to the cwm recovery by tapping the volume down key
(i was going to make a backup of the current system, but i forgot it lol)
i flashed the cm10.2 zip (cm10.2_pepper-ota-eng.root_Build.1.zip) without doing any wipes, because i wanted to get to the correct version of cwm recovery
(i would've properly done the wipes/formats from the cwm recovery that is in the cm10.2 kernel)
it finished flashing the zip and i rebooted my phone, but then it didn't power on anymore
now when i hold down the power button, the phone makes a short vibration but nothing else
.
if i plug the phone to a charger, the led lights up (red) for approximately a second and then turns off
if i hold down "volume-down" and the power button, the phone vibrates once and flashes the led (green)
i've tried going into flashmode and fastboot mode but the light doesn't stay on for long and sony mobile flasher doesn't even notice the phone even though the drivers are installed
the "hold down power button and vol-up"-thing also works but it doesn't seem to do anything else than vibrate
what should i do?

When I bricked my xperia p I flashed a custom kernel which allowed me to enter Cwm and then flashed the stock rom. I am new to this flashing thing so I recommend that you ask someone experienced what to do. I just shared my experience of recovering from a softbrick. Don't flash new things blindly but ask someone experienced before doing so.

Have you installed flashtool and it's drivers (sola, flash & fastboot mode).?
Make sure the phobe is off, press power + volume up untill you feel 1 + 3 vibrations and see if it stay in flash mode longer.

Same problem here, I think that Munjeni's post is bad written.
Ok, I fixed it, follow my instructions as they goes. You have to flash the .img kernel that CM10.2.zip comes from.
For flashing it, go as follows...
First try to install the following drivers, with Flashtool. The executable is in C:\\Flashtool\drivers
Run as adminsitrator and follow screen instructions, allow any driver install.
When it's ready, try to plug in the phone in fastboot mode (turn off, hold power and vol up and release power button, led has to turn blue/violet/pink, whatever, a color like that)
Run flashtool.
Flashtool will recognize the phone as the log says, if its not try to install drivers mannually.
If it's recognized then click the black lightning button and select fast boot mode.
At the right side click "Select kernel to flash" and browse the kernel that comes in the .zip. (in the file you've downloaded you have to extract a boot.ini because is the main kernel to make the ROM work, so you have to put somewhere else, I prefer desktop)
When selected, log writes all the procedure until it show an "OKAY[time]" message.
Finally click "Reboot device into system" in the center side and wait until boots.
It should be working now, I spent a lot of hours investigating, but finally I fixed, hope it works for you too!
If there's an error or some question, feel free to post.

That was "the long run" for windows-guys.
For Linux - no drivers needed anyways - just download fastboot from anywhere and look for kernel. Put them in a personal directory. Open and run in a terminal (some have to be login as su) "fastboot flash boot kernel.img" (or whatever kernel is called...), plug phone in usb, while press and hold power and volume-up buttons. Blue LED comes shining and terminal tell you the flashing.
Unplug or type "fastboot reboot" to re-start phone.
Sure, you also can use FlashTool, too. But for only flashing a kernel it is not needed. Only for flashing stockrom ftf. But this is another story.
i happens to me yesterday
Hi ! Dont worry u r not the first to face this problem i also face this problem yesterday.. my phone was on JB 4.1.2 i download custom ICS rom and install it through CWM Recovery mode, when my new custom Rom starts it stucks on Boot screen and then nothing happens i tried but my phone was in danger... i was worried then i install flash tool and downlaod ICS Rom for Flastool and install that after severals trys i was now ion ICS v4.0.4..
Just Press volume up key and power simultanly when phone vibrtes three time leave it for 30 sec. and then run Flashtool and follow step to install another or same Rom for Falshtool & You r Done ...:good: Sorry for my bad english and type mistakes...

i downloaded the cm10.2, put it on my external sd card through a usb micro-sd reader and then put the µsd back in the phone
i selected "reboot to recovery" from the phone's power menu (i had an xposed module for more power menu options)
then i noticed that the phone didn't reboot, but it had turned off completely
i held the power button and the phone vibrated but didn't power on
it powered on on the second try, i then went to the cwm recovery by tapping the volume down key

If I wrote for Windows 8 there will be more than that, believe me. Managing Android with Linux is a lot easier, from flashing to programming.
But, face it, Windows is the standard here.
