[Q] Black screen on Booting up: Not Rooted, Stock ICS - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

My phone doesn't boot up. This has been happening since the last 2 days.
The first time it happened, i updated the firmware to the new 4.1.B.0.587. The phone restarted normally after the update but the phone was very laggy. And after sometime, the same issue popped up. The phone would start up to the black screen. Again I used Update Service to do a factory reset and reinstall the new firmware. Formatted the memory card too.
Again this issue is there.
I googled for this issue, but only users who have rooted have faced this issue. Does anyone seem to know what could be the issue? :crying:

Its a rare issue. U should claim a warranty.

Time to grab the collars of the Sony Service Center...
You should definitely claim for warranty... If its still under an year...
I hope you haven't unlocked your phone bootloader... As it voids warranty

[Q] Will they repair it??

Hey,
I have a x10i which I de-branded and unlocked, dose that void my warranty?
As I keep getting the "camera not available" message am sending my phone to Sony Ericsson for repair.
Will they repair it or have I voided my warranty?
Thanks

You can search and see if one of the flash versions will put your phone back to its original. There are several around. Or change the CDA back to original and do SEUS repair.
Hey
iv tried to put the CDA back to original codes, but then SEUS dse not recognise my device and it dosnt give a repair option.
I need to get it back to 1232-4291 Orange UK/Sensuous black

Thats the SI number NOT the CDA. Anyway, I uploaded the Orange UK firmware already so if you download it you can flash it straight back with flash tool:-
X10i UK Orange - http://www.multiupload.com/K1XB74M1WO
Failing that, the CDA you should be using is 1234-6152

I once sent my phone in for repair and it was rooted and everything! The guy just said to me that the os is open source so it wouldn't make a difference. Three days later I got a brand new x10
Hey shukla, are you on Rogers?
I'm thinking of phoning in to get my warranty on my X10 since I think I have some issues on the 3 main buttons. What was the procedure and what did they tell you to do to get the warranty replacement? Or do they repair the phones?

Yes, I'm with rogers canada.
My phone stopped charging at one point, and the usb plug didn't work so I called them. They told me to first see if there was any hardware or water damage done to the phone (I said no because there wasn't any). Then he told me to do a factory reset off my phone, which didn't solve the problem. That he told me that within 3-5 business days, I will receive a new/refurbished phone. I just had to send back my ****ed up phone. They paid for the s&h.
He did scare me though cuz he said that if there was no problems with the phone and wasted their times, or if there was visible damage or water damage, i would get charged $150.
I also told him that my phone was rooted and running another countries firmware. He told me that its fine since the OS is open source. I hope their policies didnt change
Good luck! I hope I helped
Hey Shukla,
Thanks for replying. That's weird that they said if there was nothing wrong, they would charge $150? My phone's been having dropped calls lately and I did try my friend's X10 (swapped sims) and it would drop calls on my particular phone where his didn't.
Also, how was the quality of the replacement phone? Does it seem new? Any scratches or anything?
Yeah, I didn't understand the $150 thing either. The replacement was brilliant! No scratches shiny, smelt new... It seemed brand new

[Q] should i send in on warranty

Just looking for some opinions and advise here. Got my attic on Craigslist about 6 months back. Was plagued with reboots and having to pull battery a lot. Unlocked it and started flashing anything and everything trying to fix (roms, radios, kernels, cm7, cm9 etc) . Finally settled on neutrino. But still rebooted and froze. Installed wakelock and now works fine. Just found out phone is still under warranty with Motorola. Should I send back or live with wakelock not letting my phone go into deep sleep.
And my wife's attic was also bought off Craigslist. Hers worked great until last update (she is on pure unmolested stock not even ROOTED). Now it reboots, constantly disconnects from wifi, proximity censor issues. Should I send hers back now or wait and hope next update fixes.
My warranty up in October hers in November.
UPDATED: WIFES FIXED. NEED TO GET MINE TO STOCK
I would use the warranty.
On both. I am pretty sure will send hers in. Mine being unlocked worries me a bit. Is going to suck using old backflip while phone gets repaired. Bought these cash so no contracts but from what I have read Motorola will service without receipts.
I would try warranty on locked non-rooted phone. My personal opinion is if you root and unlock it is your problem. We all know(or at least should) the risks that are involved.

I briefly read the warranty. If I remember correctly they don't cover damage done by using other software. And since I had the prob before the software didn't cause prob. Oh and how did you get a straighttalk logo. I don't remember it being an option. 45 unlimited* rocks
Nevermind found straighttalk. Of course after I buy 2 e71's. Just for the sims they start selling them for like 15$…oh well
If you try to send it in the worst they can say is no.Watch tethering and/or laptop dock usage, I have recently received calls from Straight Talk about my data usage.Last month they throttled my data so much the last two weeks that pandora wouldn't even load.
I haven't tethered since my alltel days. Then Verizon got ahold of them. Had to go with straighttalk. Saves me about 60$ a month on my not smart Verizon plan with 2 phones

Send both in under warranty. When you unlock the bootloader is states "MAY" void warranty. I haven't heard of anyone yet being refused warranty for an unlocked bootloader. To the contrary, the forums are full of people having no issues. Some people have received replacement phones which they cannot unlock however, so it seems Motorola is trying to prevent anyone in the future unlocking again.

Send in both. Turnaround time with Motorola is actually quite fast, and they should have them two or 3 days max.
I sent in my bootloader unlocked Atrix already (digitizer issues) , but I did use a method found here on XDA to hide the unlocked text from the boot screen.
Good luck.

Sending in wife's soon. I may try a factory reset with hers first. Forgot that I haven't tried that since they updated. I don't mess with her phone much. I am going to get mine back to stock and send it in when hers gets back (only have one backup phone)
Factory reset didn't help. Sent in. It arrived at motorepair friday
Send in both.
On the unlocked one, just flash back to stock. Very simple. Takes 5 minutes. Hides the unlocked text, and "re-locks" the bootloader.
Did that for mine, and Motorola replaced it.
What's the warranty lemgth on these?
One year, but the service rep told me that on this issue if it is not to long over they warranty it anyway.

Sent in wife's phone. It should be back tomorrow. A bit anxious to see if it was fixed or replaced or still messed up. Will post after tested
You can check the service status on the website and it will tell exactly what they did regarding your case.
Good guy moto
I had to send mine in for warranty repair once, I didn't read about the proper way to unlock the bootloader back in the day. Even while rooted with a custom ROM they did a warranty replacement. Hopefully yours comes back okay with no issues.
well the wife's phone is back today. still has same issues. the ones i know of are not connecting to wifi without rebooting. proximity sensor issues. and there is a error force close message that keeps coming up. gues I call moto tomorrow. Back to repair shop in mexico hurray:silly:

If you can find any dead spots with the touch screen, that is another big issue with the atrix.

[Q] Does Samsung return your phone if they find out it's rooted?

My phone is rooted, has been flashed, etc...
And i was thinking of sending it because it's definitely a hardware issue on my phone that needs to be fixed.
It shouldn't be returned just because it was rooted. Rooting voids the warranty so any repairs would have to be paid for. Or are you asking if they would keep it because it has been rooted? I don't think they would I havent heard anyone that it has happened to. You could probably ask the repair site before sending.

Unroot it by flashing a stock ROM for our region and then you can repair it.. if u can't do that then u have to pay for it...
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
One the warranty is void ,
Two the repair centre will inform you of how much the repair cost is .
If you choose not to pay then the phone is returned unfixed .
Rules say post a question once and don't spam the board your question was asked yesterday .

Warranty Repair UK

Hello.
My Ultra has had a small issue since new - a slight screen fault
Sony saying warranty refused due to "unauthorised software upgrade"
Only ever flashed FTFs meant for the device - bootloader is locked.
I have a copy of the TA partition so I may restore that.
Should I resubmit the device once I get it back?
What are your thoughts please? Can I challenge this "unauthorised software upgrade" nonsense?
Didn't you restore the TA partition before you sent it in?? If no, that's the reason why they're not fixing it. If you did restore.it, you've probably flashed a FTF from a different region. Be sure to restore and lock your bootloader and also be running the correct firmware from your region.
Sent from my C6833 using Tapatalk
Nope. Like an idiot I didn`t. I have numerous Sony phones here. A few Ultras etc
Can`t remember unlocking the bootloader on it.
I do have all TA partitions backed up with locked bootloader and unrooted so I will restore and send it back in.
If they will accept it.

Yeah, that's probably it. Just be sure to have everything, and I mean EVERYTHING stock. Especially when you send it to Sony themselves. It's not a big deal if you're sending it in to an authorized service center (that's not Sony). They get money from Sony per repairment, so they're usually not that worried about details like these (my own experiences in Norway, so don't start assumeing things now).

It isn`t actually Sony it is indeed some kind of subcontractor based in the south of the UK.
I haven`t received the handset back. Really worried about the condition it will come back in. It was immaculate and unmarked when it left me.
Hope they haven`t knackered it

Hmm, yeah that would be really bad. You didn't take a couple of photos of it with today's newspaper or anything before you shipped it? If not, that's a good idea to do. That way you'll have proof that it wasn't broken when you shipped it.
Aren't there any other autorized repair centers where you live? Or did you ship it to your carriers repair center?

I rang Sony, they sent an email, I sent the handset freepost to this firm in the south.
Fingers crossed it is back today. Anyway, off to College! (I`m 35 so a mature learner!)

Yup! Let's hope it goes well! Nice to see that people are still going back to school. I'm going back myself this fall, and i'm 28.
ok... Got phone back, scratched to bits. Official complaint going their way.
Bootloader is indeed locked and unrooted
They didn`t return my original proof of purchase.
Correct region... 1275-6410
Lets see what happens...

Warranty

Hello everyone, unlocking bootloader removes our warranty, but is there any possibility of retrieve it? Does Lenovo seriously checks phones, when we make a complaint? (I found that, Lenovo has page with warranty status, and they will deny, if we unlock bootloader)

they will even refuse to fix hardware issues if the bootloader status is or ever has been unlocked. Pretty sure this practice is illegal in the US, but in Canada, they refuse with reason "device unrepairable" .

Thanks for your answer, I'm very glad how that phone works now, but no risk no fun. I probably install Lineage 15 or 16 one day Likely in Europe warranty is also refused by unlocking bootloader
Hardware issues have to be repaired in germany within the warranty. But dunno if they would repair something which might have damaged with software... e. g. overclocking/-volting.
I had my bootloader unlocked, after a couple of month my bluetooth stoped working. I just relocked my bootloader and sent my device to my carrier for repair. They changed mainboard and repaired my device and they never noticed it. If you have already unlocked it and have problem after ... just try it they might still repair it.

My Moto z was on aokp and then died from nowhere. I sent it in under warranty and they swapped the Motherboard.
Just have to try it, worst case is they will refuse it.
Btw, I have to send my device again .... they didn't glued back the screen properly. I will ask for a replacement I can't accept this for a phone I bought new of this value.
