Last night my Evo 4G LTE fell off the nightstand while on the charger and unfortunately broke the MicroUSB port. Everything else still works fine but I'm obviously unable to charge the phone and since it has an internal battery in 68% the phone will be pretty worthless.
I've called local repair shops and none of them will touch a charge port. I have a friend that will do the solder job for me and I found replacement USB ports on E-bay for the evo 3d, can I use the same part or does the LTE need a different part?
Any insight is greatly appreciated.

That stinks. Sorry, not much other help. Let us know what you do.
I haven't been able to find a picture of the evo lte charge port. It could possibly work, you just need to make sure all of the legs are the right size and location
Id say open your phone up, examine the charge port, and how all the legs are, and how the pins are. Many charge ports work over many models. Sammy is a little better than htc on being the same, but its worth a shot.
Sorry I couldn't help you farther.
Same thing happened to me. Had to use insurance for the replacement.

Why don't you take it to sprint repair store? If they couldn't fix it they will give you a replacement for $35.

False. Insurance or bust with sprint repair. They won't touch the USB.

A couple of guys service the charging port on ebay, cost $39 + shipping cost to send to them
Try looking for one x parts. They have the same USB port mounted in the same place. If it really is just the microusb. Get a female port, desolder the one on your phone very carefully. And solder on the new one. Careful not to scratch any imbedded circuit, and good luck.

My wife's Galaxy II port stopped working, and Sprint replaced the phone for $35. No insurance here. Just sayin...
I couldn't get mine to work, but soon realized there was debris inside of the port. Cleaned it out and it works like a champ. Might check to make sure.
how do you clean it
how do you clean it and what is a debris?

But i was just gonna order a new Car Charger from the Verizon Site, but im hoping that its got the right connector on it. Its not showing that its made specific for the Rezound. Its saying its compatible with most devices...whata ya gonna do?...it is what it is!!!
All my old android chargers work with my rezound. My droid x charger. My wife's incredible 2 charger and my car charge I had with my thunderbolt.

Any microusb charger will work. In fact the chargers for your evo 3d are the same as the one for the rezound try flipping it upside down, it is that way with the incredible. I am currently charging my rezound with a years old blackberry charger.
the answer to your question is no. They are not the same.
the one that came with my rezound was an MHL plug.
the good news is that a regular micro usb will fit in there, you just have to make sure you put it in the right.
Sent from my HTC Rezound using Tapatalk. Forgive autocorrect.
Actually I appreciate the port change. The one it comes with is locked in place. And any micro USB will fit just make sure u flip it so the clips r on top
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk
I prefer the MHL port as well, nice and sturdy. But yeah, and micro USB is compatible with our port.
I like trolling my friends when their battery is low with the new cable. They used to mooch off of my charger, but it won't work with their phones anymore lol. I'll be the one bumming the charger off of them when my phone gets low if I don't have mine... Although they might just deny me the cord for previously trolling them lol.

wsup guys. my USB charger just broke for my Rezound. I was wondering if there was any sort of warranty on those that Verizon (or Amazon, since I bought the phone through them) would honor?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
good lord, what in the hell did you do to that poor thing? lol
That looks like physical damage to me and would not be covered anyway.
I would take this one as a loss and just buy a new one. They are cheap.
Should be a year. Depending on who you talk to... Amazon might have to take care of it, but when I talked to Verizon about Amazon and issues like this, they always told me to just go into the store and have it replaced. The warranty on it is 1 year, just like your phone, battery and memory card.
Note that if you purchase a separate charger, you're bound by that warranty, though usually a year, you might have to mail it to someone.
Just tell them... as long as its the truth... I tried to pull the cable out of the phone, and the connector stayed lodged inside the phone's USB connector.
It's a cable, and costs them nothing to have them made. My company sells cables similar to this for $16 and they cost us a buck to have made. The markup is ridiculous.
They are pretty cheap or any Blackberry Charger or other Droid Charger works. They prob wont warranty that.

I accidentally knocked my thunderbolt off the desk while it was charging. I think i broke the micro usb connection inside. It was bent at first, but I eventually got the usb to plug in. Plugging in the usb cable now causes the led to flash and it powers down pretty quickly.
Any way to easily fix this, or do I have to go the insurance route? Anyone had good luck with insurance?
Thanks

Exact thing happened to my old one. I went the insurance route and rooted my new one before ICS hit and had to wait for a new root method.
If you're insured, I'd go with the insurance route. If you weren't, I'd definitely give you some instructions on how to fix it.

The same thing happened to me.
I ended up having to send it into a repair shop to get it replaced.
It only cost me 55 dollars and only about a week's waiting time.
But at this point in time, isn't it just worth it to get the S3?
Asurion sent me a refurb. It only took one day to arrive, but the damn grill over the speakers is already peeling off and the battery cover doesn't sit flush. I'm more than a little unhappy with the results so far. I'll have to see if they can send me a replacement stat.

The rezound is considered an "upgrade" to the Thunderbolt, but I prefer the Thunderbolt personally. The Rezound community, from my understanding, isn't the best or most friendly group... but they do have some decent development.

Ok..so I connected my Atrix to a cheap car charger without a surge protector, and I guess it conked off and gave my Atrix the full 12volt treatment instead of 5v. The phone went off and its not powering on. Whenever I connect it to a charger the only thing that comes on is the green LED and that too at a level.of brightness I've never seen before. If I put a charged battery in the phone, the backside of the phone heats up and gets hot iin a matter of minutes. I took the phone to my local phone repair Guy and he told me that it's most probably the power IC that has blown up ...but can't be replaced individually coz it's sealed to the motherboard..so I will have to replace the whole motherboard. Is this true? Because I've seen Ads on the internet for standalone Atrix Power ICs. Doesnt make sense to replace the whole motherboard ..
I'd rather buy a new phone instead. Can someone suggest what to do?

I think your service guy is most likely right and whatever ads you might have seen are false advertisement. Sorry.

Well OK, those indeed seem to be genuine. But good luck replacing that on the motherboard. It's too tricky and risky and a lot of service centers won't even bother, since they can't charge enough for the effort to be worth it. This is also the biggest reason why the most common solution to this is simply replacing the entire board.

You'll also never solder a BGA device by hand. It's a machine fit when the rest of the surface mount parts are fitted.
You can solder BGA. You need a reflow station, or access to one.

Does anyone know where I can buy either an OEM charging wire that doesn't cost too much or just a regular USB charging cable for my DNA that isn't crappy? Thanks!
I found a pretty good one but since I can't post links yet I'll tell you how to get there: go to amazon and search Oem Charging Wire and click on the first link which is called Samsung OEM Micro USB Data Charging Cable (5 ft/1.5m) for Samsung Galaxy S II, Epic 4G Touch, Skyrocket, Galaxy Attain, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S Wifi 4.2, Galaxy Pocket, Rugby Smart and More. Hope I helped! It's not prime though, sorry.

Or contact htc say it broke or whatever happened to it and they will send you a new one for free made for the dna. My charger broke and they did that and it's the oem one. You will need your phone information to prove you own the phone. You get one accessory replacement per year from them.

You can use literally any micro-USB cable. Monoprice has a them in varying lengths for a few bucks.
Amazon!! Anytime I need anything for my phone I go there. I got a brand new stock battery for my rezound for 2 bucks back when I was using that phone. Stock usb cables for a penny all day. Cases 90% off retail. I sound like I work for them or something but I'm just that happy with the deals I constantly find on there. Half the time you even get free 2 day shipping.

Must have gotten a bad rep because all i did was call and tell them what happened and they sent a cable and wall charger meant for the DNA at no cost. I would try again because if you own an htc phone they will replace one accessory a year from them if something happens to it.

Do you have to have your phone registered through them or anything? I bought my dna new from Verizon in February, and the charger quit working two months later. I don't think I've ever registered it or anything like that. Do they just require the imei and serial/ information on the sticker, or how do they verify that you are the owner of the device?
