Ok thanks for your help. When I will have a little bit of time maybe I'll try it on my device. And last questions, are you noticed any bugs on this cm rom comparison to stock rom ? My stock rom is working good for me.That CM is a lot better than stock ? I'll get better performance in games or something like that ? Sorry for my curiosity but is my first android device and I want extend my knowledge

This is the place for sharing information, feel free to ask any question on your mind with no hesitation. With a stock ROM, there are so little customization options. With a custom ROM, you're able to boost your performance as it reveals android's 'inner power' You're even able to overclock your device (although you'd not need a custom ROM for this) which means more overall performance.

Could you send me link to that CM7 what you're talking about,of course when thats not breaking rules of forum. There is any chance to brick my device ? Could you tell me what is procedure to flash with that ROM ? I read something about that but I'm not sure so I ask you.

Based on your knowledge, I'd recommend you look for threads about what rooting is, then how to flash a custom ROM. I'm sure the forum is full of those.

[Q] Custom ROMS vs Stock

Do all Custom ROMS for all the positive features they may bring always result in less stabililty than a Stock ROM?
I imagine CM7 to be the best....seeing as he works for Samsung also. I certainly found it the best when I had the I9000/Galaxy. However looking at the CyanogenMod forum there are plenty of people raising issues with the builds (including 'stable' builds).
I really enjoy trying different ROMS usually but I am deliberately sticking with a rooted stock at the moment - and it has never froze, crashed or rebooted itself yet! I do miss fiddling with my phone though!
Thoughts/opinions appreciated.
Thanks

Yes.

If you want a stable rom, then use the one in my sig. Oxygen is amongst the most stable roms that are out here. It's almost bugfree, because the creater of the rom, Adam G is a perfectionist.
You have no touchwhizz, just stock android that works. If you are looking for a shiny rom, then this one is not for you. If you want a stable rom and an almost bug free rom, then this one is for you.
ps you won't find this rom on xda, because he does not want that anymore.
Samsung Galaxy SII
try this combination...
*CheckROM Revolution HD v3.1.1 (fast and lite)
*Speedmod-kernel-s2-k2-18-test8-CWM.zip (best battery life)

I don't know if you can say that. It has some coding from CM, drivers etc. But it is supposed to be a stock android rom, the way google intended it, with (almost) no CM stuff.

[DISCUSSION][ROM][P500] MIUI.us v4 ICS [2.8.17] by Zackconsole

Any questions, problems, or comments? Leave them here for others to reply! Let's keep the developmental thread clean of stuff that is not related to the development of the ROM (untested features, untested kernels, third party apps, etc; pretty much anything other than what comes stock with the rom). That's why that thread is in the development section. Now with that in mind, post away!
Keep up-to-date with the rom here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1821523
can we make thuis thread cover all 3 miui v4 2.8.3 roms in this device section?
Nope .. its better to ve separate threads.. coz all three are different.. it ll be a kinda mess:thumbdown:
So it's not exactly official? Or is it? I couldn't tell from reading the posts in the dev thread
it's an unofficial build
There will be any problem if i flash the rom with amonra 3.06 instead cwm???

I'm a little confused. It's unofficial but the real deal right? Not just a themed CM9?

To Prevent Any Confusion
MIUI Wont Support LDPI/MDPI Phone
But We From Miui.US might give this little phone official support(might be) but mostly you will get the weekly build for this device if it stable.
That all.
All Miuiv4 ROM are based on CM9/AOKP/AOSP/

Zackconsole, first of all thanks for your great ROM. It's almost stable for me, no problems except of known ones.
Just one thing i've noticed: could you check why vtb24 app(sorry, can't post the link because of posts count) isn't compatible with your ROM? It's compatible with all the ROMs i've tried(Lupo's, hep's, all MIUI ROMs) except of yours. Maybe something wrong with build.prop?
Thanks in advance.
Installed the new version. Did a full wipe, clear dalvik, cache.
Bugs i've encountered:
1. Crash when trying to enable Wi-Fi through settings.
2. Missing strings in settings(the first one leads to VPN and Tethering settings, the second one gives a crash.)
3. As mentioned in the development thread the com.android.media process crashes sometimes.
Thanks for fixing signal strength though:good:
Edit: can't get a log at the moment due to the missing Wi-Fi.

To be able to use and apply themes you have to create a folder @ /data/system/(Create New Folder)theme
Make sure it's lower case however. I think it matters.

Try Resurrection remix 2.6.1. Based on ICS and stable as a rock. I'm pretty new myself and been using it for a while.Easy to install and no issues whatsoever. :good:
First of all, are you sure you have an i9100 and not an i9100G, a skyrocket (AT&T or Rogers), a Galaxy S2 LTE HD, etc?
If you do have an i9100, this is the forum for you. If not, try and find your right forum...
I'd look in the SGS2 android dev forums and not the Original Android Dev forums. Alot of cooks have ROMs with SGS3-like themes... And there's possibly a touchwiz5 mod in the themes section. I know the ripple lockscreen was ported too...
To be honest, alot of ROMs exist but it's a question of taste... I know Resurrection remix is a popular one. Alot of people switched to Cyanogenmod when ICS hit though, as ICS wasn't up to par for Samsung's implementation...
Your best bet is to flash a custom kernel with CWM recovery in Odin (Alot of guides to do this) like CF-Root and then grab ROMs and flash them through CWM. If you want a kernel that's able to dual boot, you can use DreamKernel, Siyah, etc. That way you can get one ROM going and test a second ROM as a secondary. Dual booting can be achieved because we have a 500MB partition on our phones that isn't used for anything... Fun, is it not?
And The other rom is pfittech ics rom and is also stable and he is working on stable jb rom as among other devs

I'd go with rootbox. Just because the dev updates more frequently does not mean it's a better rom. The ones who don't update frequently just mean they don't have bugs to fix...

[Q] Installing custom ROMs on my sony xperia s

Hello everyone
I have a Sony xperia S updated to the latest build of ICS with a 1 year warranty ( still there's about 7-8 months in it )
im eager to install custom roms on it , but problem is that i loose warranty if i unlock my bootloader
and im a moderate/heavy user on the phone .
So my question is , should i go for it and unlock the bootloader ? because im still stuck with ICS while cyangenmod has Jelly bean for my phone ..
or should i keep the warranty and wait because something might happen to it ? ( still no word from sony on the update to its 7 months old phone ... )
Appreciate any opinion/help
Hi Jay dude i think its best u wait till your warranty wears off... custom roms are really cool and are sure with the risk! Unlocking the bootloader is reversible thus fooling your network provider repair center that your phone has never been rooted even though you have! All shall go well if u read and follow instructions.

But too late I just went for it and unlocked the bootloader and now running Cyanogenmod 9.1 and im very happy with it , its fast and stable , makes you feel happy about your phone .. transforms it into a great piece of technology not like our stock rom
Would recommend it , if you really care about phone software .. as for me I couldn't wait to change it .. seems like sony forgot about us ..

that's true man , better battery life
do you recommend other roms ? have you tried others that are better ?
Yeah sure I've tried a hand full of other unique roms. U ask if there are any better, honesty judging from my experience cyanogenmod roms have and still are the smoothest out there due to the light weight. Other rom that I've tried are (KA Xperia SSpeed roms), ([email protected] v5.1 and v6 roms) both this roms are being constantly updated for better experience and are both very cool because they come with awesome pre-installed apps that u dont get with cyanogenmod roms. Please bear in mind that this roms are a bit huge to download like close to 400MB of data while CyanogenMod are usually about 150MB of datta. So yeah man u should try this other rooms they will also make your phone really cool to operate.

while keeping usage low I managed to get 1 day 15 hours of battery .
it depends on how much you use it I mean you can drain from 100% to 0% while constantly playing games for 5 hours lets say.
many times on normal usage with wifi on I manage to get 1 day of charge ..
it depends on your usage but its SLIGHTLY better than stock .

this is the latest one . for the Xperia S you choose to download the NOZOMI one .
shame on you!! forgettiing AOKP!!! SHAAAME ON YOU!!
i actually installed aokp and i cant change it.. im addicted to it.. it is the most amazing non-stock (forgot the name ) rom any1 can have.. i miss my xperia rom look and the t apps and stuff but i cant change this its too damn amazing!!!
Erm, A JB ROM?
Pardon me for being a noob here but isn't CM9 an ICS ROM? I'm looking for a CM10 rom for my xperia S. A few webpages state and offer downloads of the same but it isn't available on gt.cm. So does it exist or not?
I'm open to other options for a decent JB rom other than CM, but I would prefer a stable one.
yes cm 9.1 is ICS but at the time i opened this thread cm 10 wasn't stable yet , but now it is very stable and FXP team is working on 10.1 ( 4.2 ) .
i use cyanogenmod 10 for sony xperia s from the free xperia project . it is the best . i tried aokp , for me it has some extras i don't need and i felt its a bit cheap ..
btw cm is aosp not aokp ..
feel free to try both :
aokp : http://code.google.com/p/kangxperia/
cm 10 : https://sites.google.com/site/projectfreexperia/download/cyanogen-mod-10 ( the one i recommend )
if you need help in flashing just ask .
edit : forgot to mention , cm 10 is android 4.1.2 as well as the latest aokp
how to unlock bootloader please tell i m trying to unlock it since 4 days plz help plz
here you go man : http://www.androidauthority.com/xperia-s-unlock-bootloader-82532/
this voids warranty btw ..but i don't regret it at all .

eclair, froyo, ics, etc are versions.
cm, darky, criskelo, omega are all roms that are modded. mods on the other hand are specific changes that do not include the whole rom with it. it depends on having a rom as a base to install onto.
stuff like removing charging notifications or add camera functionality are mods. the ability to add any app to multi Window is a mod, but cm, darky, omega etc are ROMs. they're completely independant and does not require a flashing of another rom as a base.
and yes, you are asking for what the best rom is. the fact is, you'll have to just try different roms and see which one suites your need. check the all in one sticky thread for a link to another thread that categorizes roms based on what concept of android they're going for (stock, aosp, aokp, sense, etc etc).
all of these roms are very well documented and they explain what their rom was built for.
