Noob question: Which kernels are compatible with CM9.1 (FXP142)? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Is there a matrix of compatible baseband/kernel/ROM configurations? I tried using sirkay's boot_9.587c - ICS - xKernel v9.587-C, flykernel0_6, and flykernel0_8, but they all caused reboot cycle (bootloop) with CM9.1 FXP 142.
I had to extract boot.img out of the FXP zip file and flash that kernel to successfully load up CM 9.1. Incidentally that kernel version is 2.6.32.9-FXP. FWIW, I was upgrading from CM7.2 RC1, updated baseband from D-64 to G-77 before flashing kernel and then CM 9.1.
Ideally I want to use the fastest kernel out there compatible with CM9.1, and one with Linaro would be ideal. Any suggestions?

Am I missing something, there's a whole topic specifically for questions ... [HELP] Q&A Thread - MUST POST ALL QUESTIONS HERE [ 1 2 3 ... Last ]
...I'm new here but it seems some people either can't read or just cba.

Yes there is Q&A thread!
Anyway for CM based ROMs you have to use CM kernel otherwise you got bootloop... i've heard AOSP/AOKP is compatible but i never tried it myself

[Q] Kernel and ROM compatibility

Ok so i am sure this is noob question I am currently running the latest doom kernel and the T.E.A.M ROM v1.6. My question if I change ROM do I need to go back to the stock kernel first? If so were can I download it i think I found a thread with a list of Kernels once but can't find it again.

[Q] ICS ROM with working TVout and encryption + other questions

Noob alert!
From what I heard is that CyanogenMod is one of the best ROMs, that was why I was thinking on installing it.
It is also based on the AOSP which makes the code cleaner with less bloatware I guess.
The problem is that I checked the nightly build known issues FAQ and there is no TV out or encryption, nor BLN, which are all very cool features to me.
1) Can you guys recommend me any other ROMs to look into? (that is CF-root CWM friendly)
2) What other advantages are there to the ROM being forked from AOSP?
3) I have recently used CF-root and have kernel [email protected] #2
Is there any problem in using kTool to flash to a 3.x kernel? Do I need to do anything first?
Thank you for the help.

[Q]which cm10 version to use?[lww]

i have looked at various threads, including the FXP thread for the cm10.
I am really confused:
1) between the cm10 nightly or the fxp.
2)which version of cm10nightly or fxp( keeping in mind the bugs)
3) which kernel to use ( i need a kernel which can reduce bugs, save battery , and allow me to overclock)
4) how to make the walkman button work on these roms
please help me...
Please search before posting a new thread, all questions should be answered in other threads
1) There is no difference between the nightly and the FXP versions, but FXP will do more updates
2) Use the latest FXP cm10 release
3) Use the kernel from the zip or Mesa for cm10 or lupus or cm10 extended, the one you like :good:
4) I don't have a lww so I don't know but there should be a thread about this...

[Q] AJK 4.9 Installation Problem

I'm trying to install AJK Kernel 4.9 AOSP on Hellybean 4.3 and also tried on Carbon Rom 4.3. I use a kernel cleaning script, flash the kernel, reboot recovery, reset stweaks profiles, and have tried fix permissions also. Each time the phone starts up on reboot i get fc's on phone.android.com and others. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong here? I have read where others have installed this kernel on these roms with out any trouble. BTW, the AJK thread is closed so I posted here.
Thanks
Probably because those roms are based after the "ramdisk" update issue. Basically, most (if not all) AOSP-based roms after a specific update (can't remember the exact date or month, think it's October, though) no longer allow the use of custom kernels unless they feature an updated ramdisk.
AJK doesn't have this yet, but AJ is working on 5.0 - that will solve the problem.

One question
Does this work with CM12 5.1 ?
Good job, i've tried and it's good kernel. But i've some different reactions after flashing boeffla about charging. It was so slow.
after flashing the kernel on S3 with aokp rom 4.4
i saw in the descrip that this kernel support external wifi ( OTG FOR BT OR KALI LINUX)
but i flashed it on aokp Rom and i got a loooot of screen bug and no wifi no sdcard reading no extsdcard reading ......... :v :v :v
so i would ask you if there is another rom compatible with this kernel and support LOOP DEVICE ( i use AOKP JUST FOR LOOP DEVICE ) XD
please help me and answer me ASAP
(i don t know how to compile a driver in a kernel )
And great work i hope i didn t abuse :v XD
No oNE to answer questions??? Well... i will ask and answer as well... So, Wanna back stock boot img? ok... Just extract boot.img from rom(Stock one or custom) and flash it thru adb folder with adb comm: adb
adb flash boot boot.img
or
fastboot
fastboot flash boot boot.img
....
Download Android SDK or just ADB fastboot folder, just Google it...
Mine question is, if anyone reading dedicated Q&A thread is: Does Agny or perhaps some other kernel works with SlimKat rom for Galaxy S3 I9300? Or just that OK stock one from Slim...? Thx and Enjoy it
