ICS and HoneyComb interchangeable? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, I'm about to attempt a port from good ol' HoneyComb, but there's a problem: I'm trying to port it to a phone. And since no one ever tried to port it to this phone (The HTC EVO 3D), I have nothing to base it off of.
However, we do have ICS.
My question is that can I use an ICS system and kernel as a base for a HoneyComb rom?

[Q] Is there anyone working on a AOSP ICS rom?

is there? not CM7 themed like the rom from evogp, I mean a full ICS rom?
nope, there is only alpha version in here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1403372
We have to wait for CM9. And considering that ICS changes a lot of things such as how it interacts with the camera, the old drivers for some of our hardware aren't going to work unless they are able to port some stuff from other, similar phones. I wouldn't hold my breath for a 100% ICS ROM any time soon.

Where's the Ice Cream

So are most devs waiting for the rezounds ics ota to leak or are some working on porting ics from the sensation leak and or the nexus? I know it will be a while, but was just wondering if anyone knew anything.

I think Dmeadows started on porting the ICS leak from the Sensation but not sure if he is still working on it.
Rezound is scheduled to get the OTA update soon based on what HTC said.

We don't have a kernel to run it. You can port sensation gingerbread for example because we have a gingerbread kernel. I am also not sure how it would work out with the larger screen resolution.
Not that I talk to the devs, but I'm guessing if you want everything to be working, it's best to wait for the manufacturer to release the compatible files/drivers/etc instead of trying to hack things together because it just gets messy and nothing will work that well. I'm guessing once HTC releases the official ICS build you'll see AOSP ports shortly after.

[Q] Linux kernel 3.0 or 3.2

I've notice this is the new Linux kernel in the GNEX ICS, however, every ICS version I see has the GB/HC 2.3.6 kernel. Is anyone working on this or is there anyway to just port the GNEX ICS rom onto the GTAB?
I'm wondering the same thing. Although, I believe it definitely is not an easy task.

I don't think that 2.6.36.9 which is what we have on ics, and 3.0 are that different. They just made it 3.0 for the tenth anniversary.
And also, a gnexus port wouldn't be easy, since we have no common hardware (afaik). A xoom port or asus eee pad transformer port is much more likely.

When will AOSP ICS roms be out?

I most definitely prefer AOSP ICS over sense 3.6.. And with the new leaked release of the ICS RUU rom people got around the camera and 3d problem so we have a fully working RUU ICS rom now..
But when will we get fully working AOSP ICS? I check the development section and see a few builds with camera-3d missing, is it possible to just get the drivers from the RUU and put them in these builds?
Thanks.
Really hope it will be because the sense 3.6 I'm not liking Lol to similar to what were using I mean we don't even get the ics lockscreen lol

When will they be out? AOKP is going pretty well except for the night vision camera, and, probably never if you expect 4g and 3d considering we don't even have a aosp gingerbread rom with those.

Honeycomb update on my htc evo view question.

Sup everybody. I just did the HTC software update and now I have honeycomb 3.2. I hate the new interface and don't understand why they made such a change to it or don't give you the option to go back to the old interface.
My question is why the hell did they downgrade the sense from a 3.0 to a 1.1 on the honeycomb update? That makes no sense (pardon the pun). Anybody know why this is and is there a way to go back to gingerbread without rooting?
As far as I know Sense 3.0 was for phones running Gingerbread. Sense 1.1 was for tablets running HC. Until the unification of ICS, I guess the Sense UI had 2 development paths, phones & tablets.
Just a guess

I felt the same way. Rooted and downgraded back GB, prior to that I had been updated on HC for a few months. After switching back, I realized that the overall functionality of HC was much better. Using cypher custom Rom on stock kernel, plenty of free memory, quick, give it a try.
Other then that, start learning to cook up your own custom Rom, de sense it how you like. I say this cuz as you may have noticed the View's development is quite starved. We need more contributions.
