Just go to download mode by pressing volume down+center button+power button. Now flash clockworkmod recovery using Odin ( get clockwork recovery from the development section). Download the latest cyanogenmod ROM and flash it in the recovery..
Or instead of flashing recovery, you can directly flash any official Samsung ROM using Odin. And do a data wipe in recovery...

Check USB to com port configuration. Disconnect and uninstall all other usb devices using usbdeview.exe , if port is not free stiil and hope you are not using Windows 7.
Use Windows XP Machine.
On windows 7 you need to use samsung USB drivers and not the drivers which are loaded along with kies.
Happy flashing!

By flashing via Odin with a stock rom, you'll loose CWM. You have to flash CWM again to get it back. But as you described it, you can't even get into Recovery mode (blue Samsung recovery screen with HOME+Power button combo)?
^^

If u can't get to recovery mod then flash a new firmware from sammobile via Odin

I had this problem also.
I reloaded a new stock rom from sam and loaded it with odin, after the install I turned the phone on with the power button + the home button and did a factory reset and wipe catch.
And that worked.
u need to hold the power button + home button till you get in the menu.
I came from cm7.1 and went to stock rom 2.3.5.
Hope get it. Otherwise post your steps from which rom you came.

hello there, guys and girls.
Im trying to root Galaxy SII, with stock ICS ROM.
I've downloaded the CWM and the Busybox Installer and copied both to an external SDCard.
the problem is that when I try to reboot the phone to recovery mode using Vol Up/Home/power combination, im reaching the "downloading, dont turn off your phone" message which wont progress any further. There is no option to choose to "apply update from external storage" as required.
please help!
thank you in advance,

Samsung Galaxy S2 has three different boot method.
Normal boot method done by using power button.
You can also hard shutdown the device by holding the power button for 8 seconds, so you don’t need to do battery removal method.
Download mode is necessary for you to flash ROM or kernel.
To perform this boot method, you need to turn off the device.
You need to press and hold volume down, home button, and power button simultaneously.
If you succeed, you will see green download mode on your device.
You can also get into this mode by using USB Jig. You can get the Jig from ebay for few bucks.
Recovery mode, is used to boot recovery such CWM, of course you need to flash the recovery first.
By flashing CF kernel, actually you get rooted devices and also CWM recovery.
To enter this mode, you need to turn off the device first.
You need to press and hold volume up, home button, and power button simultaneously.
If you succeed, after the Samsung Galaxy boot, you will enter the CWM recovery menu.
If you installed custom ROM there should be a reboot into recovery options to get into CWM, so you don’t need to press the button combination
check Q&A for answers about rooting and everything
hope it helped

im trying to follow the guide i've found in order to root the phone with stock, unrooted ROM.
If you reeeeally wanna go to recovery.. Go to download mode, root it.. by then you can go to recovery with the 3 button combo, if not, u can always go to recovery via cwm.

I suggest, you go in recovery mode, Factory Reset / Wipe Data, Wipe Cache, Format System, Format Data, Format Cache, Wipe Dalvik Cache, Wipe Battery Stats. Then go to download mode and flash multipackage stock firmware in Odin. I think this should work

Hey guys I need help,
After flashing eureka kernal my phone wont boot up and I cant acess don=wnload or recorvery mode.
After the samsung powered by android boot screen my screen goes black,
are there any solutions?
Hi,
I played inside the system files of my rooted SGA S5830i and accidently deleted a log file, I am sorry I don't remember the name. Now, I see an error message always when I open contacts - android.process.acore has stopped working. Same is the case when I open messages - and it takes me to HomeScreen. I tried downloading a lot of Gingerbread OS version .tar files for my model and nothin works through ODIN as well as through Recovery Mode.
Odin says 'connecting' but no luck. Tried different versions of ODIN, removed SD, removed SIM, removed battery and tried aagin and such, but nothing woked yet.Even tried different USB hubs.
Recovery mode just abort the installation of OS Zip file
So I am planning to root another SGA S5830i of my friend, take a back-up of OS and install it to my SGA. I don't think it will work as it never worked through any of the above mentioned methods to flash a ROM.
Can somebody help me in this matter, please ?
First of all, you have to read the RULES!
There is a separate section for questions and trouble shooting. POST IN CORRECT SECTION!
Install proper Samsung drivers. Make sure that odin detects port of the device.
Odin v. 3.07 supports firmware files without splitting. Other versions needs splitted firmware. Use splitfus to do that.
Flash custom roms via clockworkmod recovery.
Sent from my GT-S5830i using xda app-developers app
I tried with all versions of ODIN, but of no use.
Now when I tried through Recovery Mode, the error message says ' Thereis no enough space on the device '
Please Help !
If you want install ROM for your ace"i" you must buut your phone into download mode(not recovery mode/CWM) than install ROM with ODIN .
May I know the difference b/w Recovery Mode & Download Mode ?

TUTORIAL STARTS HERE*
1. Enter Download mode by holding both volume rockers and inserting a USB cable while still holding
2. Get to the screen that asks you if continue with Download Mode or not.
3. Remove USB cable and click the 2nd option.
4. Phone will restart and that's how you turn on a phone with no power button.*
Is this how you get into download mode? Anyway that's how you may be able to boot too.
Well and if you can't boot cause of softbrick you simply should flash another rom via Odin. Once there you can access recovery with restart tile in many actual roms I think. Otherwise you can use rom manager to boot into recovery or other apps. There are many possibilities.
