[Q] How to change csc in multicsc rom ? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Some roms have a mod which allow to change csc at will . But i actually installed the Wanamlite Rom (XXDLJ4) and the csc is OXA (Open Europe ?) I'm interrested of changing this csc with a XEF one.
I've tried the *#272*IMEI# but it doesn't work (=>'Unknow application' message)
Same problem with 'sgs csc select' from appstore.
This rom is 'multicsc' (+120 !) => So How can i change it ? (I notice that XEF folder is in System/csc one but i can't copy the content of XEF folder )
Excuse me for my poor english.. but i'm just a froggy noob:silly:

Download csc changer from playstore
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app

Just remember it wipes your phone when changing csc

Hi,
That's it:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.manniakk.cscselector&hl=pt_BR
[]'s

Just enter the first part of the IMEI, without the last separate two digits.

Thanks for your reply but I can't see any 'CSC changer' from playstore => there is 'Samsung Galaxy s/S2/S3 CSC' by Manniak which only works on stock rom (I tried it with my custum one : I can select my XEF but after reboot, i'm still in OXA csc )
Another one is CSC Selectorby Laucass wich redirects me on the dialer with code *#272 .... => doesn't work ('Unknown application')
Is ther another place where i can take this 'CSC Changer' ? Or is it possible to only flash the csc I9300XEFDLJ2 (via sammobile) on my WanamLite (XXDLJ4) ?
Or perhaps is there no interest to switch from OXA to XEF ? (I Thought that it was better for voice recognition for example)

There is 15 numbers in my IMEI => does it mean I have to enter only 13 numbers? .. tried... no success

Sure, It's THE question . I've seen in other thread that the csc had its importance for the voice recognition ? (I'm french) ... Perhaps It's wrong .
But why is there a csc for each country then ?

Ok , i think i've found an answer : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671969
It does' nt seem to be useful for me to switch to XEF one.
thanks to all of you

Sadly mine is out for repair of the display
i'll try this after downloading...

Actually it's not, with the latest provided recovery (elsewhere in the dev forum) you can also flash with SUTL. the viewpad will reboot into recovery first and after a few seconds switch to fastboot.
This "new" factory stock ROM should be for newer ones with ITE hardware - great for "experimenting" with custom ones - from now on, nice to have the ability to restore it for warranty exchange, etc. etc.
And, yes, I can confirm that the SUTL will quickly flash the *.nb0 file - making it as good as new again.
swype is the only diffrences i think... so far...
Interesting thought Viewsonic wont release any new official ROMs for Viewpad7 hmm wow I was wrong
Wonder what more is there opposite Swype hmm for sure there have to be something enhanced worth updating?

Hehe, sorry... read a bit too fast.
Another stock rom had only English and Chinese as integrated languages.
A rom with german language would be nice to have...
I ve got an HWver 106, model FM6-0001, SWver 3.16R device whose ABOUT reads:
model number :viewpad7
android version: 2.2
baseband versionR3.7_128
kernal version: apps_2.6.32.9
build number: 4027_3_16R.
As my language is Spanish, i will not notice the lack of other european languages.
Shall I upgrade to this 2.2.2 ROM?
any changelog from 2.2 besides swype kboard?

BTW how did you backup your apps? Titanium?

Need help adding Arabic to a French stock firmware

Hi,
I just installed 4.0.4 stock firmware and I rooted it.
I would like to add arabic as supported language. I tried to do it this way :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30314323&postcount=3
But modifications on language.xml file won't register. I tried with Droid explorer,it failed. Then using this method :
http://www.jayceooi.com/2011/06/12/how-to-edit-root-file-on-android-the-free-way/
it failed too.
Can somebody tell me if this is the correct method to add arabic and how to modify stock rom files?
Thanks a lot
Patience is key : )
Have you tried performing the changes using Root Explorer in RW mode?
If you really cannot get it to work, you can just flash a stock unbranded ICS ROM which comes with Arabic by default.

Thanks a lot. I added the ar_AE and it works.
But when I add ar here :

I don't have the arabic Keybord. Did I missed something? (I also tried with ar_AE)

Thanks.

If you cannot get that to work, then I would recommend ROM version I9300XXBLG8 - UK. Get it from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646610
This does contain arabic fonts (joined) & keyboard, but after flashing this ROM if you have any problems with mobile internet then you will need to flash the correct CSC to your device.

Ok I think I'll do that.
So If I summarize : If I flash the Rom you advised me and then I chose the correct CSC of my region, I will have all further updates from Samsung? And if I have to send back my phone to Samsung for some reason, I will not have any problem? What about the unlock? Will this firmware lock back the phone again? Can I restore safely all System Data and apps from a TitaniumBackup backup?
Thanks a lot for your help.

[Q] Fimrware I9300XXDLJ1 (malaysia) sms not working

hi..
Guys..
just for sharing, there is any news for update firmware I9300XXDLJ1 (malaysia).I've found most of this version facing trouble with sms.Not working at all even to open the app.some of user FC and turned black when touch the sms icon..
I hope can get new firmware update A.S.A.P.
Try to clear the cache and data of the messaging app. Otherwise, use titanium backup to clear all messaging data. If that fails, do a factory reset.
I'm using the same Malaysian rom as well and there are no force closes in the messaging app.

Thanks in addvance
Still nobody? Ok , here's another example it's that possible to remove that space?
Bump , nobody?
I've seen a post about this once before, so worth a search
I searched but nothing ... i think nobody have the answer for my question , searched on google , still nothing ..
Check your language in settings, it might be set to English (US) try change to UK and reboot....or whatever language applies
Nope , still the same , every language i choose the result is the same ..
Any ideas or i shpuld give up?

Try to download a third party dialer and see if the phone format is still I the US format. If it it's, your problem lies within the firmware or your ROM, if it's your European format, try to find the stock .ZIP for your dialer and replace it with another (assuming you have CwM root)

Changing the locale? Can you explain more please? I changed back to my default language (Romanian) but still nothing ... the locale means default language?
R: Changing dialpad format on SGS3
Locale means where you are living in that moment...for example: i live in italy and my locale is italian, i can put my phones language in english but if i connect to the store i will connect to the italian one.
If i change my locale to english, i will make my phone think really live in america/uk and it will conmect to american google play, and behave the same way for all other apps as well.
On the s3 apps for changing the locale usually change the language as well(thats because u can also do it in settings, but since i do not like to remember where to do it i use a little app to make my life easier).
The app i use to change my locale is called "localepicker" and i found it on the web, so just search it. But i am aware there is a more famous app that does the same thing and you can get it off the store, dont know the name thou....

R: Changing dialpad format on SGS3
Ive searched the web very briefly and it seems there is no direct way to do this if not with third party apps (some people say that going into keyboard and language prefs and changing language to uk english fixes this),(slapheads suggestion seems the best one, if ure worried about the warranty dont be cause u can unroot ur phone whenever u want, or if u completely mess up the system and want to send it in for fixin u just need to mess around with it even more so that a industrial technician would not be able to even read fron the phone if not by completely rebuilding the system himself and therefore deleting any root data or stuff...but thats a situation ull most likely not run into).
it looks like a third party app might be rocketdial...

Thanks for the answer guyz , actualy wich make me think it's that thing ,when i was bought the phone was completly without that space and the dialpad was normal that's what it's really interesting , should i restore it and when it asks me to change the default language should i go for british ? not romanian or american english should i try? what do you think? i don't want to lose my apps too

I think u should root...personally- after all its not like ios (where thru jailbreak u need to mod the system thus adding stuff to it and making it, even if slightly, slower) on android instead u just want to ACCESS the already existing superuseraccount and use it yourself(whole process called root on android), what i mean is it doesnt slow down ur phone at all, instead it can be used to make it faster.
If u dont want to root the solution would be....i dunno maybe reverting back to an old rom through kies but ive no idea how to do that.
What i suggest is to root and either follow slapheads instructions or flash a new rom man(dont forget to make a titanium backup so u get all ur apps back), in that case u fix your problem
PLUS u get the new smoother android sensation all custom rom users get when they start using a rom where all useless stock processes/apps have been removed...
