I want to debrand and root my phone but i don't know what to do first do i root before flashing stock to the phone or flash with stock first then root.I really don't want to brick it lol.
I would like to open it for all networks also.
P.S Im in UK model number GT-I9300

Steveo

If I helped say thanks
Hi
Thanks for the quick reply.
So do i just flash the stock rom for the uk straight to my phone using odin3 v1.85?
will it wipe everything from my phone once i do this contacts etc..
Stock rom does not wipe .
Root will be wiped if you flash stock rom after root so in your case stock followed by root .
jje
Thanks for the help guys.
I managed to get their in the end.
what did you do in the end ? I want to do the same and remove the Vodafone branded firmware off my S3 and just add stock firmware on..
Cheers
Go to samfirmware.com and flash your Rom of choice through Odin.

dont worry dude. I too have an Indian version. First root and then flash any rom of ur choice. Just backup the rom from recovery once you are rooted. That will help you in critical situation.

Please don't forget the EFS folder. And put it somewhere safe (e.g. on a thumb drive and file it) because it's the single not really recoverable part of your phone's filesystem and necessary for all communication. Recovery is easier than paying Samsung for restore
Hello,
a friend has a rooted S3 (Carrier is Austria-A1, but not sure if it is branded) and after using a Debloat-tool on Jellybean (stock) it ran into bootloop.
He can still enter Odin and CWM on the phone, but unfortunately he has no Nandroidbackup. :silly:
We have found the Stockfirmware here:
http://www.handy-faq.de/forum/galax...galaxy_s3_jelly_bean_4_1_x_firmware_dach.html
How can he recover/flash his S3 with this stock JB from the above webpage to make it work again?
He also has no SD-Card in his phone so he can´t copy any software to it, but i have an old 1GB microsd-card which can be used if necessary.(no sdhc)
His PC is running Win7-x64.
Sorry for noob-question, but i have a Sony and don´t know anything about Samsung devices.
thanks
get the rom straight from samfirmware.com and flash it throug Odin
All data should remain intact.

Ok then we will download the firmware from your link if you recommend this.
I will visit him in 30 minutes and will report if it works.
Thanks for reply, mate. :good:
Thanks d4fseeker,
have downloaded the unbranded firmware from your link and flashed with Odin.
All contacts and apps still there, and phone works fine. :good:
Just he has to root again.
one last question. If he want to flash custom ROMs is there still need to unlock bootloader?
i ask because i wrote before, that i have a Sony, and there you can flash ROMs just with root&cwm and locked bootloader;
only some ROMs (not stockbased) wich need a own kernel or flash custom kernel needs to unlock bootloader.
thanks again, mate. !

S3 bootloaders all come unlocked with the exception of the US Verizon variant.
Oh, so that means he can flash kernel and rom what he want, cause he has root.
Cool. But strange so different... a other friend with HTC needs unlocked bootloader for root, my Sony i can root without unlock Bl...
I will tell my friend this and for more questions he should register himself here on XDA.
Thank you ! :good:
