Odd supersu prompt - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

After updating my supersu I'm getting this odd prompt. Anybody else getting this? Googled what it was to no avail.

Turn on your wifi

Same Here
I got that on my phone for the first time last night. Without thinking, I denied the access and closed it. Haven't seen anything since then.

I started getting that after the recent update to SuperSU in the Play Store. It seems to only happen when I'm connecting to WiFi hotspot for the first time. It happened at home when I connected to my WiFi for the first time after the update. Same thing at work, and a couple other places.

They have been discussing it the last day or so in the SuperSu thread

New ota. Beware.

Some have been saying that it was safe to take the ota... But there is another new one. I am betting it closes the hole. So be careful.

From what they've said, it's not recommended to take future OTAs, so a new one probably won't be safe... but I doubt it closes the hole as I would bet that they don't know what it is yet.
Just because someone discovered it, doesn't necessarily mean that HTC already knows where to find it.
I won't be taking anymore updates, because I don't want to lose the opportunity for root, but I bet this one wouldn't close the hole.
But, thanks for the heads-up about the new one. I haven't noticed it yet. Too busy tearing my phone apart lol.

Not taking any ever... Doesn't anybody ever learn?
Aside from the random FC i have absolutely no issues... Aside from a weak 3g radio, but, there have been no radio updates as far as I know.
Also sense blows. That is all.

i just checked and their wasn't another OTA.
Nothing new sense the Launch Day Updates
That's odd because I certainly got a new OTA prompt. And it is the first time that when I decided... The prompt went away.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
What was the original one? Because I think this one that prompted me was 1.13.651.7
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
I don't think that this a new OTA you are getting. There were 2 that were pushed so far, and that is all Sprint lists on their website.
Something even more interesting though, and looked for the Evo3D Support section and it doesn't exist... I know that it was there about a week ago, just seems odd that there isn't any support section and they don't even show a link for the Evo3D to select as a phone in the support section..
Don't jump to conclusions on the phone not being there, but I would guess that it isn't there for a reason.. Hopefully something good!
OP: The one you were prompted for was the 2nd one.
no new ota atm
No new update for me either.

I think the closest you will get is on Sprint's website. Like I said a few posts back HTC doesn't have the EVO 3D listed anymore on there support section. That is where they used to show you what was in it, a little more detailed than Sprint..
Whats going on there... We can only wonder.

Anyone else having issues with slow ota download speeds. I'm using wifi and it only got 5 mb done total after leaving it to download overnight.

Nope, I just installed the OTA (1.13.651.7 from the 24th.)
downloaded fast over WiFi.
No new OTA here. Last time the 3vo had an OTA was the day of public release.

Software update?

We're supposed to be getting a software update correct?
If I try to search for an update I see the following screen:

Then it just fades away. No "No update available" notice or anything, it just fades away.
Is this normal at all?

From what I've seen so far, they are rolling out the software update only in test markets: Salt Lake City, UT and Austin, TX. You may not be able to get the OTA until it is in wide release.
What's interesting is there is a mention today that they pulled the ISIS mention from the update. At least the version remained the same in the two press releases (2.17.605.2 710RD)

Back story:
I was able to get in before they removed unlocking so I'm actually running Hasoon2000's QX senseless rom and have TWRP installed.
I'm sitting here at work and heard my phone make a noise but wasn't paying attention. Then 10 minutes later it's in the process of rebooting itself. It tossed itself into recovery and looking at the log it tried and failed to install the ota update. I'm a little concerned that it just up and tried to install on it's own without asking (or if it did it had a timer). But either way since i'm not running stock it failed.
I'm in Idaho which no one gives a crap about, so i'd say it's global now!

Well like i said i heard it make a noise, but it was the sound i have set for calendar reminders so i ignored it. I'm assuming that was a prompt, and it probably waited 10 minutes for a response before going for default behavior. I think the most worrying part is default behavior in this case is to auto install.
But since I'm running a custom rom it failed so no harm done... to me at least!!!!

I happened to notice mine was downloading. After it downloaded there was a pop-up warning me it was about to update. There was a 3 minute countdown and a dialog to proceed immediately or defer. I selected defer and it let me set the date and time. Set it for next week so I could see how this potential new root exploit works out.

The defer is doing nothing. While Carpenter was giving up the 3 runs to Scutaro my phone went ahead and did the upgrade. Bastards.

Yeah, I see the same thing. It goes from checking to the original options. Have you disabled any system apps?

Mine popped again. I went and killed HTCDM and it hadn't bugged me yet. That might be the process to kill to stop the auto update but I can't say for sure until tomorrow.
Sent from my ADR6410LVW using xda app-developers app
Yep killing HTCDM did the trick, my phone is no longer trying to update. I also confirmed from some other posts that HTCDM is the process that checks for updates. So kill it or freeze it if the defer option isn't working (which it doesn't seem to work for anyone) or you're running a custom rom.

Yea I have a bunch of system apps disabled, but nothing that I would expect to cause an issue. I don't have root I disabled them through the apps menu in settings and I doubt they would let you disable a system app that would break updates.

Exact issue for me too.
I'm a bit busy at the moment to do the in depth searches I normally carry out when finding an answer!

same here .. but I'm using an HTC Sensation with custom ROM.
Same here as well, but I am using an evo lte running meanrom.
Me too, One S (S3) with Custom ROM... Really annonying, cause everytime it requests Root permissions my screen goes on
Me too - it started with banking software, since that was the first one I opened after update, so it scared me!
I have an HTC One S and I get that popup also, it seems to be triggered by wifi for me, turn wifi off then back on and it triggers the request. I'm not sure if I shoud allow it or not.
Wow seems to be something new then. I denied it because I have never seen it before I searched and found some stuff about a shell. I dont know much about this but it seems we might find the answer here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053 Im working so I cannot do much searching but google directed me to pg 97 of this thread, if some1 has some time to scan through and finds it let us know.

Discussion of that message starts with this post in that thread. I just updated to 0.97 and haven't seen it yet.
Chainfire, the developer for SuperSU, seems to think it's HTC specific and not malware, but hasn't identified the source as of now. He does explain a change in 0.97 that might be causing it to show now when it didn't before in this post.

Trouble in the Air?
This MKSH (Shell) I think is messing around with internet and required connections/downloads from internet, I denied it and when there is a need for download say any game it interferes (here it keeps on wiritng all that uneding list of permission being denied!) Quite fisshy I guess, so please if anyone has an idea what the hell this newly introduced shell does do reply and inform what to do about it!
Thank you
No, it’s not mksh that is “accessing” the network. Full answer in this thread.

Weird root access request?

Ok so for the last few days when I reboot my phone I'm getting this request for root access has anyone seen it before? Or know what it is?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda app-developers app
Something is asking for the 224.0.0.0/4 network to be routed through the wlan0 interface. The weirdest part about it to me is that as long as you're connected to wifi, it should be routed that way anyway.
I'm getting it a lot as well. I just recently flashed Ecliptic 1.5 and Snuzzo's 1.5. I don't know if that is related or not.

I got it last night..running Newt's 5.1.1, had flashed funky 1.5 earlier in the day, and had just uninstalled setcpu and installed incredicontrol when it popped up. I denied access at first, then granted it. However, I thought it might be wise to restore a nandroid from a couple days ago. I did the restore, flashed funky 1.5 again and retained setcpu. No new requests yet.

I don't remember when exactly they started rolling out this update. I think it was earlier this week - I remember reading an article about it and checking and I already had it. I wouldn't worry if you don't have it yet. There wouldn't be any harm in installing the apk though if you want it sooner for some reason.

I thought it was earlier last week... either way I'm not worried about it. Just curious to see how long it will take. Read somewhere that disabling verizon apps stops you from receiving OTAs... if that was true I assume it would be VZW OTAs not google.
Play Store and individual app updates are not VZW controlled. They'll roll out when pushed by Google for your device. Verizon updates are disabled by most ROMs as a lot of times they break root. If you're still stock, I'm not sure you can disable any apps that would block Verizon OTAs.

Nothing specific just trying to see how long it will take to receive the 4.1.10 update. Figured by now it would have come.
4.1.10 was a bug fix for the bad battery drain in location services. If you're getting high battery % in your battery stats with google services or android system good chance 4.1.10 will fix that

Not sure. From what I've heard it takes google around 3 weeks to push it out to all phones. I'm inpatient, if there's an update for my phone I track it down and install it myself. Its been around 2 wks since it was released, so I'd give it 1-2 more wks if you're testing it.
