I updated SuperSU and now when I open the web app I get a root request "MKSH ip x.x.xx.x is requesting root permission" can anyone help me? Should I grant or not?

Exact issue for me too.
I'm a bit busy at the moment to do the in depth searches I normally carry out when finding an answer!
(this was the first result I had time to find)
Cheers
Rory
same here .. but I'm using an HTC Sensation with custom ROM.
Same here as well, but I am using an evo lte running meanrom.
Me too, One S (S3) with Custom ROM... Really annonying, cause everytime it requests Root permissions my screen goes on
Me too - it started with banking software, since that was the first one I opened after update, so it scared me!
I have an HTC One S and I get that popup also, it seems to be triggered by wifi for me, turn wifi off then back on and it triggers the request. I'm not sure if I shoud allow it or not.
Wow seems to be something new then. I denied it because I have never seen it before I searched and found some stuff about a shell. I dont know much about this but it seems we might find the answer here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053 Im working so I cannot do much searching but google directed me to pg 97 of this thread, if some1 has some time to scan through and finds it let us know.

Discussion of that message starts with this post in that thread. I just updated to 0.97 and haven't seen it yet.
Chainfire, the developer for SuperSU, seems to think it's HTC specific and not malware, but hasn't identified the source as of now. He does explain a change in 0.97 that might be causing it to show now when it didn't before in this post.

Just like everyone else...I got it after updating SuperSU on HTC ONE X and first time using wifi. Denied the privileges...did not know what it was.
Same here. I got it after updating SU and reconnecting to my WiFi
May I ask if anyone of you is using adblocking apps such as AdAway? I'm getting this as well on my One S (S4) and it started with an AdAway definitions update, so I'm wondering.

Is there a solution for this? Or what this message is even? Is it safe to grant permission through SU?

a little more info here
Just found this article

Trouble in the Air?
This MKSH (Shell) I think is messing around with internet and required connections/downloads from internet, I denied it and when there is a need for download say any game it interferes (here it keeps on wiritng all that uneding list of permission being denied!) Quite fisshy I guess, so please if anyone has an idea what the hell this newly introduced shell does do reply and inform what to do about it!
Thank you
No, it’s not mksh that is “accessing” the network. Full answer in this thread.

Hi, I'm currently running aokp build 36a, hboot 1.4 and s-off. Everything has been working great, but just randomly this morning my u.s. bank app tried to get root access. I havent used the app in days. I denied it access, and when I launched the app, it didn't request again. Is this anything I should be concerned about? Thanks so much!

Its so they can steal your money dude!!
Just playing. You might wanna on on the play store and read the apps description and see if it mentions anything about root access.
Too bad, no money there to steal. Hence my not using the app recently.......anyway, play store comments are full of other users having the same issue across multiple devices. Its fishy to say the least. I'll uninstall till next update. Thanks again!

I had Facebook request root a few times. I think it just made a call that super user misinterpreted.
Rooted & unlocked evo last night. Tryed to activate card and takes for ever to process. In the end, it just timeout and now I get the yellow bar @ the top telling its unsupported because I'm rooted..? Help?

Google wallet is down if you would have looked in the q and a section. unsupported is ok secure element errors are what you need to watch out for.

It will still work. All it's saying is that Google Wallet does not support rooted phones. Do not grant Wallet SuperUser access and you'll be good to go. I've used it in the state you're in right now. On a friendly note, there are at least 3 threads I can think of off the top of my head that talk about this exact issue. You don't wanna get flamed for starting a new thread for an issue that's already been discussed numerous times. You just have to search the threads for the answer. I'm telling you this in a nice tone but some will borderline disrespect you for starting this thread. Just keep that in mind for future reference if you have any issues.
Thanks, I saw the threads about wallet being down but didn't catch anything about not being unsupported.

should i revoke root acces and try again or just delete updates and start over rooted and still wondering if its the continual errors or if i'm locked out.

Same Here
I got that on my phone for the first time last night. Without thinking, I denied the access and closed it. Haven't seen anything since then.
I started getting that after the recent update to SuperSU in the Play Store. It seems to only happen when I'm connecting to WiFi hotspot for the first time. It happened at home when I connected to my WiFi for the first time after the update. Same thing at work, and a couple other places.
They have been discussing it the last day or so in the SuperSu thread

Hey all,
There's been quite a few reports of people getting duplicate SMSes in the ViperDNA ROM thread. I think I have, unfortunately, found the cause. The other day, I got a SMS from someone not on my contact list/nor anyone I recognized at all. It was like spam email, but from SMS with a link to some site to boot. I brushed it off and just deleted the message. I was reading Android Police's new article on Android anti-virus apps. I was surprised to see my $15 Kaspersky app doing so poorly, so I uninstalled it and installed the #1 rated TrustGo. I did a scan and it found a "High Risk" threat in HTCMode. I followed the link provided by the app and, sure enough, Google has acknowledged the vulnerablility.
This vulnerability is being kept very close to Google's chest, so you don't find much about it doing a search for it. It certainly isn't getting a whole lot of press, but it's gotten some.
I tried to delete the app via TrustGo, but it failed. So went into Titanium Backup and froze the app and then was able to uninstall it. I've rebooted a couple times since uninstall and there doesn't seem to be any repercussions from getting rid of it. I highly recommend you do the same.
Just a heads-up. Protect your shiny DNA and your personal info/data,

Thanks for the heads up! I wonder why HTC is packing this junk in with their software.

Perhaps HTC has nothing to do with this software and (as if they care) the developers are trademark infringing when they use it in the app. They merely use the HTC name to legitimize their software and make you think it should be on your phone (some Sense software.) I'm sure on the S3 it's called SamsungMode or TouchMode and tries to make it look like it's part of TouchWiz.
If HTC did create this software, then the SMiShers have just found a way to exploit a vulnerability in the software as they did with other brands. As the video and write-up details, this is not HTC-specific; but Android-wide.

Neither was I until yesterday and I was quite pissed a free app outperformed one I paid $15 for. When it found the vulnerability my anger turned to humility and concern.
All it does is allows apps to send u fake spam texts. I get that type of junk anyways without this apps help.
On the DNA I think its the HTCModeClient.apk. I'm gonna remove it on my Rom today and see if my text work normal.

So reading this seems really shady that they would do this. So I'm not rooted on this phone and I don't want to root because I enjoy this phone how it is. So obviously I can't freeze this so if I disable it, won't this be the same thing as freezing it?

I have always used adaway on my devices but it does not seem to work properly for me on this device. I am running Verizon One Max stock rom, Rooted, S-off, bootloader is relocked. Should it be working with these settings.
as far as i know there is no relation between your rom/s-off/bootloader or anything else. it should work if you have it installed and running properly.
Its not. I'm not sure what's going on. A little more info. If I try to open the host file from the adaway app nothing happens. When using any root app that wants to reboot the phone it just closes and I have to reboot manually. Not sure if this is related but it is what I have found.

I had the same issue with the Sprint variant until I install an unsecure boot.img. Without the unsecure boot.img root was not functioning correctly. Not sure if this is the exact same issue or not, but its worth looking into, and before you ask: No I don't have a unsecure boot.img for the Vzw device, and no the one for Sprint should not work on the Vzw device.
Thanks for the info. I know the sprint version is no good to me. I have been all over Google and am guessing a Verizon unsecured boot.IMG is just not available right now. If anyone out there knows a link please help.

I believe one or two people are working on providing the Verizon files and/or an ruu. Not sure what issue you might be having as I am on Verizon and don't seem to be having issues with adblock plus. I have not relocked my bootloader since running rumrunner though. So for now you may have to do without fingerprint and leave bootloader unlocked until the files come out.

I unlocked it again and rerooted just to be safe. Still no good. The only thing I see that has changed is ad away now shows me the host file when I tell it to. It is full of blocked things but it is not blocking. I added a site manually and rebooted. I can still get to the site. I will try ad block plus. Maybe it will work better.

Last post I care to make on this issue. I am just going to deal with it. Someone released the insecure boot.img for verizon but it still does not solve my issue. No ads are blocked.
My device also face that problem like after reboot device the adblock app disable itself again.
