I have the option checked in youtube to pre-load some videos. Since Sprint's 3G connection blows and is almost useless in most cases, I figured this is an amazing feature. One problem is that it doesn't work when I'm on said 3G connection. It works on Wifi when I try to pull up pre-loaded videos but when I'm on 3G it just says "Server Connection Error" every time. Anyone else experience this?
For reference I'm not rooted and on the lastest OTA firmware.

I really need some help with my wifi issues on my tab. I am tethering from my Thunderbolt and as you can see in the picture, my signal strength is as good as it can get. However, the websites are not loading at the time of the picture, the weather will not refresh and my words with friends won't update. All of this is sporadic. After I took the screenshot I went right back and hit refresh on the browser and it worked.
Here's a good example; just a few minutes ago I downloaded Swiftkey from the Amazon appstore and no sooner had it downloaded and installed when I went to the browser and when it was trying to load the homepage of Google it tells me there's no connection when I have full signal strength. Also, what do the colors of the wifi signal bars mean? Sometimes they're gray and other times blue. But I can't see a direct connection between working data and error messages. Sometimes gray works and sometimes it doesn't, same way with the blue bars.
Basically, I am connected to wifi and the data connection comes and goes in a matter of seconds. Last night it worked for an hour or two no problem. It's not my tethering because I updated the app, reverted back to what I had before and even tried another release. My Acer A500, my girlfriend's iphone and ipad, and my ps3 all connect to the network and have no problems. I know it's my tab, I just don't know how to fix it.
I even tried replacing the wpasuplicant, it makes no difference with or without the new one so I just chnaged it back. Plus, the tab has no problem seeing and recognizing the phone's network; it just connects and stops working. It doesn't even tell me I'm disconnected, it shows me being connected even when it doesn't work.
I'm stumped guys, this shouldn't be so difficult. I really like the tab, and I don't want to have to get rid of it. I find it strange that no one else (that I've seen anyways, forgive me if I've missed it) is having this problem. I have seen wifi issues listed on here about not being able to connect, but not dropping out like mine.
Sorry for writing a book, any help is appreciated.
When you're tethering from your phone to your tab, since they are close, the signal between them is strong. This doesn't mean that the 3g speeds that you're getting from the provider to your phone is fast. You're phone might be dropping it's 3g signal. You'll never know it by looking at your tab because as far as it knows, it has a full connection to your phone's wifi.
That's true, I'll keep an eye on it. Right now I have full bars on the phone and it's working fine. But earlier I can't say because I wasn't looking for that.
**EDIT** Nope, that's not it either. It was working for a while and I thought it might be. But now I have full bars of 3G coverage and it says on the tab browser "Data connectivity problem" and "The connection to the server timed out."
I should also mention that I've been tethering from the TB for months and never had an issue with a device getting wifi from it. So that's why I'm so quick to dismiss the phone as the problem.
Do you see the same behavior when connecting to other wifi networks? If so that would eliminate your phone as the issue, and point to either a software or hardware issue on the tab. If you can't... probably the phone.
Boo ****ing hoo JoKu
Try a cable instead of the ***** wi-fi geek connection!

In 20-30 years time we'll all be cancer ridden because of the wi-fi radioation. Too bad, suckers...
HTC does not allow wi-fi tethering from their phones unless it is through your carrier. You have to use Foxfi app and use the bluetooth tether option.
Has anyone been able to sucessfully video chat through google talk? I have the VZW 4G tablet and I am trying to video chat on 4G and it just keeps failing every time. Is this a known issue or do I have to be on WIFI or whats the deal with this?
I tried on a European 3G device, it didn't work on 3G or WIFI connection.

I couldn't find the video chat feature in Google Talk, so I installed ooVoo, which works great!
Video chat works great for me ! (tried with a friend who had an Iconia)
Gtab Wifi only
I have used GTalk Video chat many times, always works flawlessly.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using xda premium
This is one of my main uses for the tab! Wifi 7510.
I've done it over wifi on my lte tablet. Haven't tried it over lte yet.
I've used video chat on wifi to talk with someone using built-in gmail chat. Worked flawlessly.
Strange, now it started working for me too.
I have tried two days to make a video call from Xoom and GT10.1 to my PC and it always failed. Yesterday i tried a call from PC to my phone and that worked right away. After that i thought i try the tablets again and now everything works. I don't know what the problem was...
I searched and searched, but found nothing. When I have my laptop connected via the Wifi Hotspot, sometimes the connection will hang and then time out. If I simply wake the screen up 99% of the time it will begin to download the data and my web page will render on my computer. I am on ATT with Alien/Khlolks Kernel/.30p Radio. Does anybody else have this problem? It can be really annoying sometimes. Thank you
I dont have this problem with Wireless Tether.
Thanks a lot! I've been using the app you recommended and the speed and stability seem to be far better than the one packaged with the alien rom.
Its one of my favorite apps, and arguably the number one root app to have since it potentialy could save you $20/mo. There is a link in my signature to a list of root apps compatible with the Atrix if you are interested.
I'm experiencing something weird tethering my Nexus S to my TF Prime in order for the tablet to use the phones internet connection.
I have ICS on both devices, and last week paired them up, marked the Nexus to share its internet connection, and everything worked fine and I updated facebook and twitter to my hearts content.
This week however, when I connect the devices, the Transformer Prime constantly shows "No Internet Connection". The phone can be used to surf, so its net connection is intact, and in the Tether settings it says "sharing the Internet connection with 1 device", so it doesn't appear to be a problem with the phone.
However the Prime still shows "No Internet Connection". I was wondering if there was any fix this issue. I can't find reference to this anywhere else in the forums.
Ideally I don't really want to use other apps to do this, since I already know they aren't necessary as I was connected and working fine last week. I only want to know what I have to do to make it work as it did before... can anyone help?
Thanks in advance!
Hello!
I have a bug in the app for a long time, and I haven't managed to figure out a solution.. Sorry for bringing it up again here, but I looked all over previous threads, and there was no answer in them, not one that worked for me anyway..
The app won't let me watch more than one video in a row without Wi-Fi. Playlists have become useless, and I can't really use the app without restarting it repeatedly. After one video it says that there was a problem connecting to the server, tap to retry, and usually tapping the screen doesn't help. The sign of the cellphone's internet changes constantly between H+ H and 3g when it tries to load videos (and only then. The internet works fine otherwise).
With Wi-Fi the app works fine.
Thanks, Itai
Mostly the problem is with your Data connection. Youtube app needs constant and good internet connection, the constant change of H, H+ and 3G puts very high impact on connection strength.
Just a symptom

The constant change of the sign is a symptom of the problem, not the problem itself. In other apps (and on the first-played video on youtube each time) the phone dose'nt have any problem staying in the H+ sign.
The cause of constant sign change indicates poor signal from your service provider, when the app requests for a good bandwidth. Youtube app may not work on weak connections. If you ever tried, you should also see 'Connection Timed Out' error in Play Store. Happened the same with my previous device (the connection prob with google apps).
Only solution, change your service provider or switch to other networks, such as 4g, wifi etc.
Not Locking

That's the thing, all other apps work (play store too), and the problem is not related to the signal quality. Even the search of youtube itself works fine. It seems like the app can't "lock" (I guess that's the word) on the server.
So, what do you mean by locking? There is no relation between H+, H, 3g and Youtube server. As I said apps are in no way related to controlling network connection, it depends on service providers.
And according to your sayings, all you can do is Clear:
the app data, google services framework, downloads, google play services, Uninstall Youtube app and reinstall it from the Play Store. I highly recommend updating 'Google Play Services' via Play Store. That's all for now.
Now you may ask why the sign changing happens only in Youtube app- Well, I think Youtube requests for full bandwidth and your data connection can't handle it, too weak maybe. You can also try by changing your location
Still no solution..
Anyone?
