So heres the situation: Your locked into a 2 year contract with your ageing phone and suddenly the Nexus 4 is released in the UK at only £279. Seeing as my phone (HTC sensation) is still worth £413 (according to amazon,) can I simply sell this and buy a Nexus 4 without making a loss?
Is there any website/ shop that offers a fair price for a 2011 top range phone?
(eBay can provide some average deals but obviously it is mostly chance.)
I recommend checking at ebay for used phones to get a more accurate pricing. My phone, the inspire is still being sold for 400usd unlocked, but a used one in near perfect condition goes 150usd max.
You may only be able to get 100E.

Selling it on eBay would be your best bet. If it was me depending on the condition and accessories etc. I could definitely get over £120 for it.

Definitely sell it, do a search on eBay for 'Completed Auctions' and see what people are able to get for them.
Alternatively, try this site for places that will give you guaranteed cash for it. The current highest for the Sensation is about £96.

Don't buy from a carrier if you're going to be stuck in a contract. That said, they might sell it outright for more expensive.

Geeze...where on Craigslist or Ebay ?
On Craigslist, I had it on eBay too. It was a little disappointing, I think all in all I was out about $10 so I didn't feel too bad.
I sold my EVO 3D for $180 brand new a few months back on eBay and seeing how this phone is $600+ retail plus all your extras you should be good at the price or close. Check out EBay that's your best bet. I have over 100 positive feedback on eBay if you were anywhere near me I'd sell it for you.

I like my evo. But let's face it....it's not a new device any longer... Many phones have been released since the evo...but hey it's got jb....I'm not sure yet if that's good or bad. Battery life is terrible on all roms.

I almost bought one off a guy on Craigslist for $210 but he wanted me to Western Union the money to him because he lived a state over and he refused paypal so that signaled to me it was probably a scam.
I ran mine on Craigslist this morning..A White one..

I was besieged with txts and emails and calls
4 hours later I decided to pull the ad..

No used AT&T Note 2 on CL in my town.
So Ide have to pay close to 450 plus what I get for my i717 to get a Note 2
That's alot of jack for a few up-grades including .2 inches in screen size...
This Note 1 is just too dammn good right now to shell out alot of bucks to get something comparable..
BUt on the other hand... prices will go down quick, that's for sure..Especially if a Note 3 comes on the stage...

I saw someone sell one with a smashed screen for $350.

I would trade before I sale. But honestly I'm loving the phone. Just wish it was the white model. I'm looking for a international model or will hold off until the N2 drops and pick up one of those.

Edmonton doesn't represent all of Canada. In Vancouver, Note 1 goes for 250-350 depending on the condition. There are some S3's and Optimus G for 350-400. Note 2 are about 500.
As much as I love my Note 1, the resale value (250-300) is pretty bad.
I sold my Note (carbon blue, AT&T locked) and otterbox commuter case on eBay for $290. Pretty much what all of them seem to be going for these days. Had to get rid of it because I got a Nexus 4 (which I love btw).
I wonder what i could get for mine? Unlocked "grandfathered in" good conditon with extended 5400mah battery...quote lol

A Prestine condition i717 Note is worth anywhere from $250-275. That's street price. I bought mine on release date Feb 19th 2012 (I believe). Lots of people have jumped ship but I have no problem waiting for the Note 3. Besides the lack of RAM and the processor a little dated, the Note is perfectly fine and will get me through a couple months til Note 3. However, some people want and need the latest and greatest which is understandable.

Sold my unlocked TMo on eBay for $609 last month. Was used.
Missed it and bought another one locally for $450. Paid $10 to unlock.
Toss it up, take lots of photos, be honest about it's condition. See what happens. If it doesn't move, lower the price every 2 days.

Absolutely to much as sick as it seems , these phones have always been 580 new outright and now the s4 is also 580 new .
Just like with cars trucks anything once u buy it use it walk away with it the value is cut drastically.
They go for 425-480 roughly used now regardless if it's a day old or a month .
Think of it like this the price your asking is same as what anyone can buy it new at the store .
I've bought two ones ans one s4 paid well under retail, people will just look right past your price .

I have to agree I'm not gonna pay retail for a phone when I'm not getting the ability to return to tmibile or warranty plus not that you would but if the seller reports it stolen or lost also so for me to buy used the price Der has to be worth the tradeoff
