Thinking about getting a refurb'd Mopho or swapping for one on like Craigs list or something. I hear that 2.3.5 can be unlocked IF it came from factory that way, but NOT from an OTA update...is there a way to tell which is which? Or is that even true?
TIA.

It was possible for the electrify at least. This has some more information and how you can check.

this is ONLY possible on the Electrify and NOT on the Photon.

Did you try using the electrify 2.3.5 pudding on the photon? I was just wondering if that would work on a 2.3.5 photon.

There is only one working pudding file and it is the same for both phones.

Does anyone know if it's possible to reset the phone to stock? I did a factory reset, but that doesn't restore the applications and widgets.

With the new Bell customers using the Atrix now we have to be aware of what we are referring.
Skinien - if you are a Bell user than the sbf might not work. Please check the validity of that. If you are on AT&T then it should work.
I'm an at&t user.
You, sirs, are gentlemen and scholars.
Seriously though, thanks!!

good call, ill have to keep that in mind if I again refer or recommend someone flash the SBF.
I just wonder if Motorola has released the update of 2.3.5 for the Atrix 4G. I know that the Atrix 2 does come with the new update of 2.3.5! Any ideas?
Not that I know of but for now ROMs are taking care of making the phone fast hopefully support continues though

I can't understand how you just miss EVERYTHING.
Check Motorolas website. Easier than creating an account for here, posting a question, and waiting for a response.

ROMS!! LOL I DOUBT IT!!

So is this the first step in getting an sbf?
This isn't absolutely related to SBFs, FXZs and anything else.
Anyway, good find! I can start to work to EternityProject Kernel for Motorola RAZR now :°)
Pity is that it will be flashable only when ICS will be out!

No, this is the DROID RAZR's. Unless they're running the same thing (which...I guess could be possible, outside of the radio-related stuff), no.

Why is it a pity? Can we not flash with bootstrap?
The bootloader's gotta be unlocked in order for you to flash Kernels.

board-mapphone.c:char *bp_model = "CDMA";
board-mapphone-spi.c: char *cpcap_bp_model = "CDMA"
Just a guess 'cause I didn't have time to check better:
cpcap_bp_model and bp_model should be changed to GSM or it shouldn't be changed at all. The userspace radio layer is in Android ROM and since our MDM6600 (same for DROID RAZR and RAZR) is able to work both in CDMA and GSM mode, the kernel code should be the same. CDMA as bp_model can be only for reference or for changing operational mode in the BP kernel driver.
The kernel should be exactly the same, the only unsure thing is the radio driver, anyway, in case GSM RAZR kernel will be released "too late" we can use this on the GSM RAZR relatively easily. We need in any case the unlocked bootloader for testing what I'm saying but I expect to have the RAZR (GSM) kernel prior that to happen.

That's true, but wouldn't it be wasted work since ICS would entail a new kernel from Moto to start over on anyway?
You don't really expect to see official ICS on the Razr anytime soon, do you? And yes, I know what Motorola told. I also know what they used to tell in the past.
but will this at least allow customs roms like like liberty 3 or cm7??

not yet, they aren't!
are you aware that they also said that ICS was already ready when the source came out? all they have to do is finish testing it and push it out. early 2012 is very reasonable.
Hold your breath and we'll see how well you're feeling in a few months....
What's the major differences between the Milestone X2 and the Droid X2? Other than one is GSM and the other is CDMA.
Both cdma. Hopefully not much but network/data. Still waiting for nandroid....

oh, they're both CDMA? I thought the MX2 was the GSM brother of the DX2, it'd be nice to get that nandroid and see what you're planning on doing with it.

i fershur posted and bumped it, not because you wanted me to, but because I want to see what you can do with it. Can't you take a nandroid from the Atrix as well though? even though it's a GSM phone and ours is CDMA?
^this is why all phones should be global (both GSM/CDMA) so that stuff is interchangeable.

Ditto

I think not, much radio in system.
Indeed, both are CDMA, and more specifically both are the same model. Milestone is the name given to Droid phones in Europe, because Motorola hasn't acquired the rights to use the word "Droid" from LucasArts outside of the US.
That doesn't make much sense, considering I'm in america and got an MX2 from my provider...
NVM- looks like it's specifically a verizon / lucasarts issue.

Quick - What's the Euro-equivalent to XDA?
If some frog unlocked the X2, my phone is just as good the way it is.
Maybe a pissed of Chinese man got stuck with an X2 and is OC'ing this very moment. Google Translate people. Skwoodwiva, you may land yourself on the Bootloader Unlock Wiki for this mischief.
*My first post since I got mugged. When I called Asurion for a replacement, sadly, they handed me back an X2. Why couldn't that gentleman steal my phone after the X2 stock ran out!??!?! It's all good. I still get to read Ash's late-night/early morning drunken/sleep-deprived rambles (kinda like this one).

Theoretically it sounds like it could be feasible, but it's a bit more complicated. They don't use the exact same android OS as us despite it being the same hardware. I believe they actually have an sbf unique to just the milestone x2. Also, xda isn't just American, and the vast majority of any android mods show up on xda before anywhere else.
The dx2 is VERIZON, mx2 is any other company that puts out the mb870. Verizon can use the Droid name, not moto. Lucus Arts owns the Droid name and leases it to Verizon...
Everything is the same except mobile carrier apps.... The settings within the phone may be different but that's add far as it goes.... You can flash an ntelos sbf on a Verizon x2 and it WILL work.... But you won't be able to activate because of baseband and prl versions are not the same. But other than that it will work..... You can flash the ntelos sbf on a Verizon DX2, and you can take the phone to ntelos and they can activate the phone... make since?
Tapin' the Talk on the xSquared
Peperm1nt
You are not suggesting that someone flash netelos to a x2 are you as one could not return back to the vz sbf. Just a FWIW.
But could you take an SBF and change the baseband and what ever else you need to to get it activated on VZW then activate it?
Sent from my MB870 using XDA
No moding allowed. Sbf's are signed .
Oh
That sucks. Well could we SBF, then change the necessary stuff to get it activated on VZW, then do a nandroid and then we just have to SBF and do a nandroid to get it activated with an MX2 SBF?
Sent from my MB870 using XDA
It's risky . The sbf does something irreversible = brick. I plan to nand' to the 235 mx2 after backing up as much as qpst can. But all that is safe.
I pm'ed a big cheese in our moto hacking community and he did not think qpst or radiocomm could access the radio areas that only a sbf can access.
Sorry if this question is stupid, but can i use the RSD Lite software to flash an US Atrix 4G Gingerbread SBF on my international Atrix? Also, if that is possible, will I be able to receive the ICS update along with other AT&T Atrix 4G users?
Thanks.
