Hi
This is my problem with my Xperia s:
For half a year I've used stock rom (rooted) and not having a single problem regarding my battery. Then a few weeks ago I felt like trying out some custom roms, so I flashed SSpeedKernel and KA18 (rom). After the flashing my battery refuses to charge above 80% (Well twice it has actually charged to 100% but why and how to replicate it I do not know). Now my first thought was the battery stats that needed to be wiped in but alas no help. Then I reflashed the rom, upgraded to KA19, changed kernel to advancedstock and finally changed to [email protected] rom.
I've preformed clean installs no less than ten times and wiped stats ever more - still the battery won't charge above 80% - what to do?
When I look at the voltage the battery is at 4,3 volt when it's 80% charged and as far as i can see on the battery graph it should be 4,7 volt at 100%
I really hope someone can point me in the correct direction as I've yet to find a solution

I had that problem too! I thought something keep draining the battery prevent it from charging! So i check the battery usage! What i found there is that the device was in deep sleep since the last screen off! I try to use it a bit and charge a gain and it won't just pass the 83% even thought the phone is in deep sleep and cpu load is low. I tried a few more reboot then once of them make my battery percentage to 100%! That means battery stat doesn't work properly! I don't know how this happen! I was on KA rom too!!

Well for some reason I'm glad I'm not the only one facing this problem coming from the KA rom. Did your battery stay correctly calibrated after the reboot or did it go back to the 83% next time you charged it?

Isnt there an option in CWM to reset the battery stats?

try to flash stock, with wipe
Hi.... Solution!
Charge device... Once it's stuck at 80...Don't disconnect the device...
Hold volume up rocker + power button to hard reset(3 vibes followed by 1 vibe)... Let it charge it in that condition... It'll reach 100.

And this will wipe the entire phone (minus sd card) or just the battery stats?
Thanks for the tip

Nothing gets wiped my friend... I guess you are skeptical about 'hard reset"...
It's nothing just a mechanism where it's equivalent to removing the battery and inserting it... Nothing is wiped... Since its equivalent to removing the battery... The battery stats resets.
Don't say thanks "Click the button"!

Yes... You may try changing the charger. Remember wall adapter is less effective than the usb charger that came with xs

Did you try calibration???
Aye calibrated it this morning, let it fully discharge then change to 100%... It seemed to have worked but when my battery drained to 90% the Overvolt status came back

u got any other battery at hand u can test ?
i remember getting this from a faulty battery... with other crazy batt problems
go original and check, if ur phone is under warranty ASK for a new battery and u will get one free of charge if its a phone problem u will get a new phone if not then im sure someone went thru such a problem and could help more... just my experience with the same problem...
Nothing to do with battery. Seems your usb port is damaged or dirty. Pretty soon you'll start developing temperature sign on reboot as well as others.
Main thread for this is in general section where I and others had to replace usb port board although some were lucky and only needed cleaning.
All the best.
Btw, battery calibration has no effect on the GS2.

Yup its with the port, batt pins,or the batt is gone...the calibrating dosnt make sense cause lion batt has no memory....check wiv other battery or try a full reset...hope it helps or last way is sammy center....
Managed to fix it... The flat bit in the USb port was a bit bent. Straightened it up wi a wee flat head screwdriver and the Overvolt thing almost immediately went away. ****in yaas thanks y'all

Look, it just does it for everyone. Its not an issue.
Apparently the latest release from samsung doesn't do this any more.
But essentially, as soon as one minisculer, tiny, mini, minute little bit of power is used, like 1 millionth of a milisecond of an LED light or screen on or data connection etc, its no longer truly 100%.
So if its 99.9999999999999999999999999999% battery, it shows as 99%.
I guess Samsung changed it to change to 99% later in the newest release because everyone whines about it. About 5 threads a week here.

the new uk unbranded firmware charges to 100% and stays on 100% when i take it of charge
Regardless of what the indicator displays, ion lithium batteries never charge 100%.. once it reaches 100% it discharges to avoid over charging..
It's not an issue..

Try if it's working when you plug it to the PC, there have been reports (same issue as yours), but it still worked with the PC. But sry no other solution present AFAIK except warranty.

Hey all.
In my s3 I played a game for 10 mins and for rest of time I was installing apps and tapatalking is my battery draining too quick?
After full charge in 1hr 20,% lost

Hey
If you've lost 20% with your screen on constantly for an hour and a half and played a battery hungry game for 10 mins then I'd say you're getting average battery performance.
That side, you can hardly give it definitive answer Based on the info you've given. My advice is to grab Better Battery Stats from Play Store and run your phone normally for a couple of days.
The big problem with this phone is that it's impossible to put down though

ur mobile coverage is rather bad...
could be d cause.
looks normal to me for continue use.. screen, wifi, etc on almost the entire hour and a half. once the device goes idle/sleep the "awake" bar should not be blue, otherwise if it stays blue that means a app or something is keeping it awake.
I had avast anti virus and it was keeping my phone awake.. So I uninstalled that

That seems normal to me. I bought a second Samsung battery. Now, I'll never be afraid of running out of juice! It's worth it compared to getting a 4,000mAH battery that makes your slim samsung turn into an obese samsung. :fingers-crossed:
Hello people, I have a rooted s3 running super nexus ROM. I decided to charge my phone last night at 83%. This morning when I check, I still had 83%. I have changed all my chargers and cables(charger and cables are original) before this happened but unfortunately I still can't charge. I don't know if its my Hardware or software problem. Anyone else have the same problem as me?
I have uploaded my phone info as well.

then this might be a problem with the charging port i guess! better return to stock warranty and give it in the service center.
