[REF] Nexus 10 Stock OTA URLs - Nexus 10 General

Below are a list of all known Nexus 10 OTA updates. Each time there is a new OTA update, the links will be posted here as they become available. If you get an OTA notification that we don't have a link for, please pull the filename out of logcat for us before applying the OTA and post it here. Once you post it, I'll update this post and mirror the file on my website, http://randomphantasmagoria.com, in case Google pulls it down in the future.

I need your help! I need someone who gets a new Nexus 10 to get two pieces of info for me BEFORE applying the out-of-the-box OTA to JOP40C...
1. The URL to the "JOP40C from JVP15P" OTA ZIP file. I can help you in obtaining this'd if you don't know how.
2. Before applying the OTA, please reboot into the bootloader and tell me if the bootloader version is something other than MANTALJ12.
Again, I need this info from a tablet that is running the out-of-the-box JVP15P firmware.
If anyone could hook me up with that information, I'd be most grateful.
Thanks!

Thanks man. Much appreciated. My Nexus 10 was ordered at 11:34 AM ET on Tuesday the 13th and still has not shipped. To say I'm pissed would be an understatement. haha

I was hoping maybe somebody over the weekend might get the info but alas no, so yeah, when you get the N10, if you could grab that info for me, I'd be very grateful.

OK so, I got my Nexus 10, got the link to the JOP40C from JVP15P OTA file, it's in the first post. However, like a freakin' idiot I applied the OTA without checking the bootloader version first. ARGH! JVP15P definitely uses a different bootloader than JOP40C (there's a bootloader.img in the OTA file), so if anyone else gets their Nexus 10 today or tomorrow, PLEASE check your bootloader version BEFORE applying the JOP40C OTA and post the version here. In order to check the bootloader version, you actually have to reboot into the bootloader.
Thanks in advance!

Sent PM and downloaded zip file. Awaiting further instructions. If I get your info back before I get it (on truck for delivery) I can help. Otherwise I will OTA.

Question... Did yours erroneously report its version as MANTA.J09? I had someone else tell me that theirs showed the version as .J09 instead of LJ09.

OK people, Android 4.2.1/JOP40D is pushing out now. Please keep an eye out for the OTA notification on your tablet. If anyone gets it before I do, please post the filename or URL to it here so I can update the first post and mirror it on randomphantasmagoria.com. Thanks!

Would you mind explaining to this noob where to look for that information? Would be happy to try, but don't recall ever seeing that info before when getting an OTA.
Edit: oops I went and read op. You need a log file app and I imagine root since I saw a post about requiring root now in order to view debug logs? I haven't gotten around to rooting yet.

You don't need root. All you'll need to do is enable USB debugging on your tablet in Settings > Developer Options. If you don't have Developer Options under settings on your N10, go to Settings > About Phone and repeatedly tap the build number until you get the note at the bottom of the screen saying developer options have been enabled.
Once that's done and USB debugging is enabled, wait to get the OTA notification on your tablet. When you get it, don't install it yet. First, go under Settings > Developer Options and choose "Take Bug Report". Email that bug report to yourself. When you get the report, search it for ".zip" (without the quotes) and post what you find!
Thanks!

If all you did was root, meaning you are still running the stock ROM, you will still get the OTA.

Good news! I'm getting the tablet tomorrow and I bet it won't survive until the weekend without trying this. Thank you!
Aannnddddd..the first one is released. Nice work mate and thank you for your work.
goooooooooooood job mate !!!!
thx !!
I won't use it because I'm already in MJ9 rooted and I froze all knox app but I will use the next one
Nice job. I'm not even sure what KNOX is yet because I haven't got my tab yet and haven't been in the android scene for a few years.
Also; is there much difference in builds between 600-605 other than network chipset?

Here's a good overview on Knox
The 600-605 are completely different the 600 had the exynos chipset and the 605 has the Snapdragon 800.
So I gotta ask, but are you working on a modified Rom as well? I want to decide if I should get the lte tablet, but I live in Canada so it would be ordered from the states....can't decide if it is worth it, but if the lte will actually work here and there are roms coming out for this one, then ima return my Wi-Fi model and go Snapdragon!
Btw is the wake up lag still there on tis Rom or was that not an issue for the lte device?

The wake up lag is still very much there. This Is just stock build, no modification.
I'll be working on a modified one was well when time permits. Anyone can feel free to use this as a base also.

So - Knox is basically security based around activesync. Pretty useless for most people then. Glad it looks easy to disable.
I forgot the wifi and lte models had different processors. Will have to look into this a bit.

Thank you OP. The MJ6 build feels a bit faster than MJ9.
Damn this is a silent thread! Is no one using this? Thats a shame, because I think MJ6 firmware made a big difference in speed and smoothnes. Thank you OP
Great Work,
i mentioned an issure. I cant download the sketchbook apk. I think its because of the "custom system status". Maybe u can implement the apk in a former release.

Ok. So basically when Google updates the AOSP sources (with multiple commits) they push a new build. These new builds also contain security patches and bug fixes (very minor ones). These updates don't add new features most of the time (if they are based on the same android OS version). I have added a new line in the OP where I write the build number for the latest build. This should help people find the latest build faster.

Question about these images from google (first time nexus user, long time crack-flasher here). If i'm running stock and simply want to update to the new build, can i just extract the system image from that package and just flash it via fastboot or will that break things?

That won't boot(you be stuck on the google screen forever), you need to fastboot flash the vendor.img as well. For details:

[Beta][Marshmallow/6.0][XT1575/1572] Systemless Root

Systemless Root
Read this first: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63197935&postcount=2
To summarize:
This is an experimental root process
[*]It needs an unlocked bootloader
[*]It needs the system to have no trace of any other superuser solutions
[*]This will patch the kernel RAMDisk to include the su binary
[*]Following that, all calls to execute commands as root will be handled from here
[*]This means no system partition modification
[*]This also means Android Pay works
[*]Since this is experimental, expect apps with hardcoded su calls to not work (blame the app developer)
[*]Also, there are bugs as Chainfire stated but it's been stable up until now
[*]I have not tried this on the XT1572 but it should work
Click to collapse
IMPORTANT!
You need to revert to completely stock/clean marshmallow without any SuperSU installed.
Installation Instructions:
Install the kernel patch - systemless_root.zip
Install SuperSU (systemless) - SuperSU v2.56
DO NOT INSTALL ANY OTHER SUPERSU MODULES
IGNORE ANY TWRP MESSAGES ABOUT SUPERSU or SU in general

Apologies...as you know, many people try to get credit for work they didn't do (I'm obviously not a fan of that and let it get the best of me). It just looked odd since there was only a link to the original thread until just now. Again, apologies for jumping to conclusions and thanks for the work.
I couldn't find any info anywhere how does systemless root benefit vs regular root by using the modified boot image? thanks!

Sorry about that. I saw [WIP] as the thread title and no download links in the OP and assumed this was another "I'm first to start working on it but have nothing to share" thread that pop up all over XDA and immediately get closed.

From what I understand it allows you to root your phone without making any modifications to /system. So when a OTA is released you flash the stock kernel and accept the OTA. This assumes you've made no changes to /system once you gained root.

It's working great, I had to reinstall superSU from the play store as it was not showing up in the app drawer. Everything is working.
@alnikki25k BTW. Congratulation on the brilliant idea and implementation of a script that make the systemless root changes to the kernel, could this be used with another device?
Can I use this with the stock odexed (unrooted) from here:

worked so far.. flashed the stock odexed no root. rebooted and did quick gmail setup. Went back to TWRP and flashed the files for the kernel and SuperSU. When prompted by TWRP to install SuperSU after flashing the files I said do not install per instructions. Booted up and restoring with titanium as I type.
Next question would be if anyone was able to get xposed working with systemless root? Probably not going to take that plunge since I got root mainly for titanium and ad blocker.
Edit. All apps back. Running good. Not trying xposed yet. Android pay loaded no problem. Added cards no problem. Doing good so far
Tested on XT1572 , everything works flawlessly except es file explorer unable to request for su permission for some reason.
Thanks again for this

Yep, ES Explorer does not work with systemless root, change to Solid Explorer that works well.
Thanks for this, now I have android Pay working properly.
BTW: good ole root explorer still works.

It's the latest and greatest of course! I'm on stock, so I'll just wait for OTA but if you're bootloader unlocked it's best to flash these via adb so your device stays up to date at least with the BL, radio, and vendor.

The OTA roll-out has begun already for MCH19Q, but may take a few days, to one or two weeks to cover worldwide.

Forget what the user above said. You have all the rights to post external links on XDA-Developers. If he (The XDA fanatic who cannot tolerate other websites on the internet) feels that your or mine or anyone else's work is a piece of junk, then he should just write it by himself.
@DHO you go on with your work, and maintain the forum's spirit. Ignore such criticizers. At least some of us here can act mature and ignore such useless discussions. Off-topic ended here, mods can clean-up if they want.

We move 15 terabytes of ROMs on a slow month, XDA wants nothing to do with that bandwidth
But I do see the wisdom in a collection type post....
Maybe after work I can a make something a bit more unified.

This is meant for custom ROM users - we no longer need to download the *full* factory image even if we're just updating our /vendor monthly.
I personally am grateful for such a collection, not only because of the data flow it saved me, but also because of its convenience (Google is not accessible by normal means in China).

Nope. ROMs and the partitions supplied here needs to be updated hand in hand. It's the ROM itself (the kernel) that contains the patches.

Radio and Bootloader are backward compatible. However, for some, an older radio version could work better than the most recent one, on the latest update. So you may regard Radio as subjective.
As for vendors, they should be flashed corresponding to their build numbers, so you could say that these are NOT backward compatible
I hope I got your question right. :good:

Pure Factory Images [Monthly Updates]

Project on hold for a moment - my phone didn't like what I built. Going to fix it, then re-open.
So, I got tired of needing my PC to update my phone every month just because I'm rooted. So I used SuperR's Kitchen and took the stock images from Google and made them into flashable zips. These are flashable in TWRP. They are rooted and includes the vendor partition. If enough people request it, I will cook some non-root versions. I plan to add flashable bootloader and radios as well (TBD). I will try to get N zips up and going tonight.
The intention is to keep this up to date every month (until I get a new phone, not likely within the next year or two).
Advice, guidance, and requests are welcome. Doesn't mean I'll follow or fulfill them.
Directions for upgrading from a previous version:
Custom recovery (TWRP) required
Boot into recovery
Flash AOSP-[version]-angler-[build]-bootloader-signed.zip
Flash AOSP-[version]-angler-[build]-radio-signed.zip
Flash AOSP-[version]-angler-[build]-[date]-kernel-signed.zip
Flash AOSP-[version]-Rooted-angler-xxxxxx-[date].zip
OPTIONAL: Flash AOSP-[version]-angler-[build]-recovery-signed.zip (This will replace your custom recovery with the Stock recovery)
Flash any other packages you may want (such as Xposed)
Wipe cache/dalvik
Reboot
Your phone may reboot a time or two during the first boot (mine did). I am the only one that has tested this thus far. Use at your own risk. I am not responsible if this bricks your phone, kills your cat, or your house gets foreclosed on.
If you don't know how to fastboot flash the stock images, you probably should not flash these (just in case).

great contribution for the community! Can't wait for the N zips and more goodies. What version of superSU are they rooted with? The newest 2.74-2 version? Thanks again!

Maybe you should relabel the title. These are just flashable factory images right? It is not the same as AOSP. The changes are minimal but they are there.

Please be careful with N. I uploaded, but have not yet tested them myself.

BETA-SuperSU-v2.74 is the one used. Pretty sure I renamed to remove the -2 at the end, but whatever was latest as of yesterday. BTW, N zips are up, but untested. I cannot express how new to this I am, and it's possible it could soft brick your phone. I'm testing the new 6.0.1 zips now, I'll test the N once I'm comfy knowing that the others work
So, I don't know what I did, but my phone did not like what I cooked. May have hard bricked it, which means I did something wrong in the bootloader. For the love of God, if you happened to have downloaded anything in the 5 minute window I had it live, don't flash it.
Thanks for this! Just out of curiosity, how often is the radio being updated?
