3 days now my neo v barely can connect on any router... i have to be right over the router to connect... has anybody experience same problem? i had wifi 24/7 open... is there a possibility to be damaged? is there a way to fix? anything i can do?
Yeah, there is possibility that 2 SMD elements are not working on your motherboard.
I had same problem, I had weak signal, and got replaced motherboard in service center.
That problem is even written in service guide.
Only thing you can do is repair software with PC Companion or SEUS. If it still not working like it should, take it to the service center.

has any one else noticed the drop of signal on this phone? it works fine at home but as soon as I enter my college class room, the service can't be found, this is really annoying, I don't receive my texts till I exit the room and even then, every text I send seems to take ages to actually be delivered to the recipients phone. any one know of any fix for this?
running 2.1 official with pitch black theme. Xrecovery installed.
Did it start to happen after you installed the black theme?

no, its always happened. is this a problem all X10's have? as soon as I leave the room/college, it gains its reception again :|
I dont have that issue at all. Have you tried flashtool to try to fix the issue, or seus from sony? It could be a glitch in the phone. Have you used flashtool before? I can help you with that.

I have att x10a with 1.6 and I was constantly dropping calls worse than the iphone.. Called up ATT and they said swap the sim.. Did that and still nothing so they replaced the phone and so far no issues..
I've swapped sims, it didn't help, what would the flash tool do?
It's a hardware issue.
Not much you can do.

Its definitely a hardware issue, at least mine was.. If you’re under warranty get it replaced either via your carrier or SE
if I flash another baseband would that fix it? this phone works perfectly at home and other places, just as soon as I enter college, it loses reception. would another baseband be worth my time trying out?

No.. i have a similar issue.
and there is nothing you can do.
I wrote a petition to my service provider about this.
And the fixed a problem with the tower. "only cuz i know they take budget cuts"
The gsm modem is full of ****.
I don't know if it's a software or hardware issue.
But so far there is no fix for it.
As I posted above I had this very same issue.. ATT says couple of their towers are still down in my area and could be an issue.. It isn't.. The replacement phone I got last Friday has been very good… So clearly it was an equipment problem.. Are you still within the 1 year warranty? If you’re get it replaced ..

Oh.. yes.. sorry. You may have a similar bad chipset.
Thanx for reminding me gabnj
But you say that it is only in class.. so no 100% way to be sure.
Hi,
I've been struggling to fix my Galaxy S2 since a couple of weeks now. Have tried everything possible from my end.
The problem:
The phone is unable to register to the network (Vodafone). Infact even when searching for networks manually, it doesn't show any results.
After trying everything possible(software wise), I finally reset the binary counter and flashed official firmware and sent it to Samsung Service Center.
They called me up today & said that they don't know what the problem is and that software wise it has got no problems(which I doubt) & said that the motherboard (the PBA) needs to be replaced, which will cost me Rs. 8000 to Rs. 8500 ($160 approx).
I think since they are unable to get the problem, they want to change the motherboard and fit it.
The phone was working perfectly fine & I really doubt if the motherboard was damaged.
The series of events leading to no signal:
1. I was on CM9 in India when I left for Germany.
2. I flashed DiliDroid(uses JKay and Siyah Kernal) in Germany and used a local SIM (O2) while I was there.
3. I came back to India & for a day the phone worked perfectly.
4. Then maybe (maybe coz I don't remember perfectly) I installed Busybox and ran 'fix file permissions' somewhere.
5. After that I was unaware that my phone started to unregister from the network and then register again. It jumps from being in network (for 5-10 seconds) & then No network. So when I first start my phone it registers with Vodafone for 5-10 seconds and then gradually signal strength comes down from 18asu to 11asu to 5asu to 1asu to 0asu. And then it never comes back. I can but manually search for network and then register it. I could also make a call when the signal is there. But once the call is finished, the signal drops to 0.
6. After I did WIPE and flashed numerous ROMS and modems, the phone now doesn't even find any network. Now it just shows no signal.
Can anyone fix it? Is the PBA replacement (which is very costly) the only option left? Please help me.
Well not the same issue, But I had my PBA replaced too.
My mobile had an issue which was Hang on PC Conn logo.
Basically I flashed a bad firmware and was unable to recover. Tried everything from xda, whatever help I could find.
I went to the Samsung service centre, and even within a warranty, they said it will be with a cost as they had to replace PBA.
I had no other option and was trying desperately to get my mobile back. SO i agreed.
They replaced the PBA (which is basically the motherboard) and the cost was Rs. 6,800
So If you really have to replace your PBA, and If you from Mumbai, try the service centre I went to. As indicated, it will come at a slightly reduced cost.
If you had warranty, you should have bricked the device then sent it in.
Hi guys,
First post so please bear with me...
The phone was dropped recently and screen smashed up badly.
Replaced screen and thought all was working fine until tried to make a call/send a message when I discovered that the phone had no network access...
Here's the diagnostic process I've been through...
Wifi works100%
Sim works in other phones
Other sims don't work in this phone.
Checked the antenna assembly to ensure contacts okay
Sim definitely reading - able to read sim contacts
Switched to airplane mode, reboot, turn back on - no luck
Searched for networks manually - no networks found at all. Another phone (samsung galaxy gio) finds all three (Optus, telstra, Vodafone)
No networks detected automatically either
No network detected using 2g only
So, if my wifi is working fine, that should rule out an antenna issue which to me indicates a hardware fault with the network side of things...
Is there a way to verify this is actually the case? And if so, is there a way to repair/solve it without doing a motherboard replacement???
Here was I thinking that it would be a cheap, easy repair... :/

If you want it free of cost so first try flashing new firmware via odin and then check it if not then give it to service centre !:good:
Make sure you're using a stock rom just in case it is a software problem, but it looks like a hardware problem to me. I recommend taking it back to the repair centre where you got your screen replaced.
I don't think it is possible without a motherboard replacement.

thanks
I think I'll do a total strip down again just to make doubly sure that i've got absolutely everything connected in the right place and then if it's still not resolved, I'll look at sourcing a motherboard through some chinese friends...
The phone was actually purchased when in china, and as a result I had to flash it with an Aussie rom to get the google back in android. It's all worked fine since then until dropped which makes me think it's hardware related. problem with buying it in China is that I can't seem to find a motherboard online for it galaxy ace 5830i (the 'i' is the problem... can find plenty of 5830 mobos but seems the consensus is using a 5830 mobo will brick the phone...)
Oh well, thanks for the advice guys.
Even i had the same problem, but i solved it by flashing a stock ROM. You can try that or flash a stok kernel
recently I also had this same problem, even installing the stock rom did not solve, so I researched in several places and saw what could be problem with the IMEI, I did the whole process of repair IMEI and my phone is back to normal , try this method:

So...
I pulled it apart again to double check everything and noticed that the cell chip had come disconnected from the mobo upon impact and was only attached by three copper strips. After staring at it under a bright light for a while (no magnifying glass was to be found!), we stuck some super glue under it and tried to dry contact all the points... but it still didn't work.
However... after talking with a mate who's into circuit boards, he suggested that I try putting the mobo in the oven at 350 deg for 15 min to resolder all the joints as they use low-temp solder on these sort of boards.
I've got nothing to lose, so will be giving this a try when I get a chance and see if this brings it back!
I'll post back my results.
Yeah, and I recommend using a fine tip on your soldering iron just to be safe.

Hello. I bought my Z2 about a month ago. Everything worked out well.
One day at work i noticed i have no signal at all, with the red X next to the signal bars. I thought my sim card was just loose or something
Tried other sim cards on the phone and they dont work either. The phone DOES get reception (even h+) somewhere when in town, but still with only 1 or 2 bars. (103-105dbm)
At home and at work i get no signal at all...
Tried messing with APN settings and checked them many times. Tried fiddling with airplane mode on and off.
At the moment im backuping the phone and going to try a factory reset. No hopes that it will work though.
Any ideas? The phone HAS been under a warranty screen repair because i shattered it on the first week of use (was my wife actually)
But it worked fine for many weeks after the glass repair..
Thanks!
Try resetting via flashtool or Sony PC companion
If the issue persists then send your device for a replacement

Yeah took it to the store i bought it from. Went to repair.... suprise suprise i got a message today about a delay because the device has been sent to "Sony main repair"
It's always when you explain a problem that they don't believe you.
They probably just sent it to their own repair for some dude to test their card in the phone cause they think i'm so stupid that i haven't tried that yet. Always just: "of course its fixable easy piece of cake"
Just replace my phone already......
But note all: Batch 14w19
Will be interesting to know if anyone else will get connection problems later on or not.
I never have 4G signal but thats due to firmware, same goes for my wifi... Wifi is flaky
Sony need to go back to the erricson days when they were realy competing
Their customer service is uneducated and their phones are Ok, Xperia Z/ZU was best xperias yet, most others are generaly terrible, Z2 is ok but them manufacturing errors are just bad
From pre poduction all the way to 14w23 is faulty
Fail sony

Hello everyone. Few month ago I bought z2 in German. The phone losed connectivity with mobile network very often. The people hear me very bad. The call is interrupted after 15-60 seconds. Even the display is showing that the phone has perfect signal, I can't call to anyone or do a USSD request. It happens with 3 different operators in different places. If I do power off the phone and then power on (just reboot doesn't help), the mobile network works 5-30 minutes, but then the problem is back. I returned phone to the shop and they repaired it. But the problem still persits, I turn on the phone all work good, but after some time, mobile data hangs and no one can call me. Airplane mode on/off doesnt help, only shutoff/turnon help on few hours. Z3c is working perfect on the same places and operator. The firmware is the latest official, i tried hardreset and reinstall via flashtool.
Does anyone have any idea?
My brother had this problem 2 or 3 times, but always with a Samsung device. After the motherboard got replaced it was OK again.
Give it back to the shop and keep it as long there, as they don't repair it. Maybe they have just reflashed software hoping for problem fix.

Luckily not from an iPhone = Yesterdays technology at tomorrows prices
I have sent the phone to the seller twice, they "repair" it twice, but the problem still persists, after few hours or loosing network noone can call me. The system setting shows that network type is unknown. The problem is that I bough the phone in the other country and sending the phone takes too much time.
Does anyone has/had the same issue?
