Hi All,
Firstly i read about a memory issue and not being able to store apps on the external memory.
I then read if the phone is rooted you can.
Is it safe to root?
Will it void the warranty seeing im just getting the phone today?
I also read about battery issues with 4G do you recommend a good place to get another battery seeing 4G can not be turned off?
Thanks in advance.
I have the same 4G Telstra model awesome phone coming from the iphone4
I did these steps first
1. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1946915
2. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1914394
its perfectly safe if you ever need to send back for a repair you just flash back too
the original Telstra firmware and run tringleaway app off google play store
Hi,
Thanks for that.
Im just worried about having only 16gb internal.
If i root i then can install apps to external memory rather then internal is that correct?
Cheers

From my experience you only really need to worry about the space if you are installing large games that are a gb or two each. If you go into settings applications and select the app some will have the option to move to SD card, but if you want to use an app like GL to SD then you will need root access. This app will move the large game files to the external sd

1} Not sure, sorry.
2} Games; Angry birds, 9mm, cut the rope, NOVA 2, Chaos And Order Online.
2} Apps; Iris (Alpha), Voice Actions, Tiny LED Flashlight, Download All Files, Ttorrent, Archidroid, Mp3 Music Downloader PRO, Shazam.
3} Cracked Apps; Applanet, Blackmart Alpha, Pandapp, Snappz Market, Mobilism market
^ It honestly depends what you want though, Check out the top rated apps and games in the market place
3} No, it isn't necessary, but it does give you a few more features, personally I've rooted my device 3 times and I have to say, it's more trouble than it's worth. It does void your warrenty, yes, but you can un-void it (lol) by using a USB JIG (works on the old bootloader only - Android 2.3.3 (Doesn't work on 2.3.4 or 2.3.5 unless it has the old bootloader))
Agree with a post above, but I think, that rooted device is better.
Much more features than stock, especially this device and many awesome ROMs...
Personally I would keep the stock file system for the USB storage. Hit videohelp.com and get a tool to split your file if size restrictions are inhibiting. Just my opinion.
If you are around here you'll want to check out the superuser apps like root explorer, titanium backup or mybackup, BLN, and browse around for themes, apps and roms here. Get paid versions of everything if you want the proper experience.
Of course rooting will void your warranty and of course you should root your phone.
thanks everyone for replies
all of these apps/games can be downloaded through android market isnt it ??
after rooting can i get my warranty back ??
Can anyone pls tell me a good site from where i can get cracked apps/games for my device ??
& one more thing, i bought this device few hours ago & have put it on to charge but it gets heated up too much i dont know why.
can anyone tell me, it gets heated above the samsung logo near the earpiece & behind near the camera
NTFS is not supported. Work a round here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131924
Requires root.
No one here will give you links to warez sites.
Rooting will void your warranty, but removing it is easy, so you will get your warranty back.
The overheating issue, check your firmware and update to the later ones, should solve it.

Hey one More thing

will it root my phone without any problems ???
&i also want that my data shoudnt be lost !!
Kinda new at this but decided to give it a shot. There are many variants of the SG2 and recently in Japan, AU Kddi released a beast...
As reported by gsmarena.com-"The Galaxy S II ISW11SC has a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, 1.4GHz dual-core Qualcomm QSC6085 processor, 8 megapixel rear camera with 1080p video recording, 2 megapixel front camera, 16GB internal memory, expandable memory, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 and NFC."
But being released in Japan there isn't much support for rooting on this phone. Part of the problem is most of its support and forums are in Japanese. After post a thread question, user tora201 showed me the light. He came across a japanese website with a super simple root for this phone. I decided to post it for all of us to use it with some simple instructions. Thanks tora201 for the help. None of this work is mine and all credit goes to the respective creators.
ROOT SCH-ISW11SC Samsung Galaxy S2 Wimax:
1.) Head over to this blog page, http://blog.livedoor.jp/kz_gin/archives/cat_136988.html, and download the two .zip files towards the bottom. They have the labels change_recovery_ISW11SC.zip, and root_ISW11SC.zip...or just use the attachments below...lol
2.) Copy the .zip files to a sd card. tora201 suggested using just an extra one you may have around. Place the sd card in your phone.
3.) With your phone powered off hold Volume Up, Home Button, and the Power Button at the same time until the phone boots into recovery mode.
4.) Using the Volume buttons and the Home Button as a select button, choose the change_recovery.zip from the sd card. (Y'all should know how to navigate these types of menus well, will help those that don't)
5.) Reboot the phone. Now power off the phone again and repeat step 3. Your phone should boot in to Clockworkmod Recovery. The Recovery is now navigated via the touch screen not the keys or buttons!!
6.) Like before go, select install .zip from sd....find your sd card and select root_.zip..then reboot....you should now notice Super User in your App Drawer!!!
Download Root Checker Basic to verify root access. Reinstall your primary sd card and your good to go!!
The only trouble I ran into was when installing the root.zip, it would not detect my external sd card. Repeatedly said "No Files Found". So I restarted the phone, went into the File Explorer, tracked down the root.zip on my external sd card, copied it to my internal sd card. Reboot into Clockworkmod Recovery, tracked down the root.zip through the same steps above expect in my internal sd card. Worked with no charm. Im not a programmer or anything like that, so if you guys have any questions I'll try to answer them the best I can. Thanks and good luck...As always not responsible for any damage to your phone..Come on though, this one is too easy to screw up...lol

yeah but this is a question tread
Thanks for doing Cezeff. I suppose I should probably have posted something myself after I rooted my one. Anyway, glad it worked for you! Been busy as hell perparing for the new uni. semester here.
After rooting I installed 'app quarantine' that allows you to not run/hideany bloatware for the time being. You can keep unwanted stuff in quranteed list when updated as well. Only later when absolutely sure you are sure you don't need it, should you uninstall - or risk permanent instability or worse.
Cezeff, any other tips for this phone? As I mentioned before it would be good to be able to get SMS GO PRO working with the ezweb address. Any ideas how?

Hi, sorry but don't many threads contain questions? Sorry to be rude but what's the difference? Perhaps a lot has changed in the four years or so since I have posted....
If Cezeff buggered up the thread somehow, could you tell him how to turn it from a 'Question thread' into a 'Statement thread'?
yeah i got a few other tips but right now I'm bogged down with training...ill throw some up here later...im still trying to figure out how to get my NFC working...may have to go into AU and ask...
Cheers mate! Waiting for your tips. Hope training going well! Ah, I also can't get NFC going.....
well for one the battery on this phone is already great but Juice Defender is awesome...after 15 hours i had 84%..im pretty sure your aware of that one...it seems after poking around that the NFC is lost after rooting....i tried an NFC Enabler.zip posted by another member for a different variant and no luck...hmmmmm
Cheers. Will give it a try. By the way, you know those programmes that let you quarantine apps? All good until you try un-quarantining. My advice: don't qurantine stuff you think you might need later.
from what i can tell the phone has all the required libs and software expect for the Nfc.apk.....for some reason the one i got from the other thread will not install...i searched around on the web and most NFC cab able phones have the files...
libnfc_jni.so
libnfc_ndef.so
libnfc.so
libpn544_fw.so
Tag.apk + libs
Nfc.apk
the Tap.apk installs just fine...and the other 4 files are present in the system/lib but the Nfc.apk will not install...any ideas?

were you able to make a back up of your system before you formatted your system? are you able to boot into cwm recovery by holding the volume up buttom, home menu button and the power button? try to see if that works and if it doesnt i may have another solution for you...
Thank you for the guide! There are still no custom ROMs compatible with the SCH-ISW11SC (SCH-J001), correct?

Had my phone for a few months now and at the moment its rooted and ive installed a few roms on it. At the moment ive using Omega Rom which i do like apart from a few issues. Camera always asks me to install SD card.... even though its in. Anyway, not bothered with that for now.
Got 2 options at the moment.
1 - Unroot and install stock Samsung Firmware. I want to do this as there are 2 apps that dont work with a rooted phone which id like to use. Samsung Video App and NowTV. Id like the samsung app to work as when i 1st purchased my phone i had free credit to spend on it and i purchased a few films on there which ive never got round to watching. As for NowTV and possibly SkyGo, i need my phone rooted for these to work,
2 - Stick with a rooted phone and custom firmware. Im keeping an eye out for the new JellyBam v6 which hopefully is released this weekend.
Ideally id like to have the Jellybam rom installed with my phone unrooted. Would this be possible??
SuperUser app -> remove root
jellybam v6.7.0 Samsung GT-I9300
hi guys, it's my first post so i hope i'm in the right place.. just flashed jellybam v6.7.0 onto my phone and it's amazing, so smooth and quick compared to stock android jellybean.. however, i've got a constant message in my notification bar that says "blank SD card" and it won't let me mount SD, it keeps forcing me to format but i don't want to lose all my data. i've tried the card in my computer and it's definitely not corrupted, and all the data is still there. has anyone got any ideas what the problem is or how i can fix it?
many thanks in advance,
cheers

you're not in the right place, this is someone else's post. you should have posted in the Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting under a new thread. if your sd card works in you PC, transfer all your stuff over and format it, then try it!
Hey, I'm currently stuck with the THL 4400.
A friend gave it to me, because he was not able to move apps to the SD-Card, not even with apps and root.
Long story short, I'm not able to fix it.
He got one with android 4.2 so the first thing I did was flashing the official 4.4, with no effect.
As far as I know, every THL 4400 user experiences this "bug".
I read that there should be a custom rom available to fix this, and that you can swap the internal space with the SD-Card.
Has anyone here fixed this, or know how to fix it? I can't find this custom rom others are talking about, and I don't know how to swap the space on this phone (Is it the same as the int to ext flash on other phones?).
Thanks in advance
Hi mate. Did you get anywhere with this? I'm having the same issue right now with my other half's phone. Moved as much as I can but she still gets the no space error.

I made a similar assuming that I can still root and install custom rom on Samsung device and went ahead with the purchase of the same machine--the cheaper 8 gigs model that came with 7 of those 8 gigs already used by core files, and manufacturer apps which are basically bloatware. I didn't even bother to ask the dealer because I just figured ROOT and problem solved. Unfortunately not. After going through the usual developers sites, I am reading that new Samsung devices are distributed with the Bootloader being locked. Until there is a solution to unlock the bootloader, then I am assuming we can't do anything about this. If not, my questions is: Is there any way to reformat/reinstall or some method of getting those precious memory back? Taking up 7 of the 8 gigs is absurd.
All the apps I've installed have been moved to the external SD. However, the Internal memory still show: Apps 2.9GB, Others: 4.06GB (only showing 550MB thumbdata, DCIM 552MB) which tells me Samsung has installed bloatware that doesn't show up on the cleaning/maintenance apps available in the PlayStore. There must be something that can be done--anyone have a suggestion?
I'm facing the same problem too.
Why would Samsung had such device?
I had actually moved away from Samsung but last month bought this SM-T285 just to play games.
Only manage to keep few games and has the notification "Storage space running out some system functions may not work" permanently lighted.

So as a typical consumer without an alternative of rooting, I decided to play their game--move the Apps to the SD card using the options in /Settings/Apps --this is the most helpful. Then also using a maintenance/ clean up app to complement Smart Manager is also helpful. Smart Booster is one I use. There are "bloatware" apps Samsung installed on the phone that you can uninstall and disable. This helps to. Using all of the above methods, I was able to retrieve an additional 1Gb back! It's a big deal when dealing with this device.
Please keep nagging Samsung about this-- We want the bootloader unlocked because by locking it up they are essentially slowing down progress--right?
:highfive:
Post your queries here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/t/galaxy-tab-a
This device cannot be rooted at the moment.
All my methods have been unsuccessful so far due to the locked bootloader and Samsungs root restrictions.
However I have a customized debloated rom available.
If there is something specific you require in this rom post at the link above.

Not sure why you state this device takes up 7gb of its storage as it doesn't take anywhere near that as stock on the T280.
