Since a couple of the kernels both AOSP and Sense have sweep2wake feature I am wondering if someone can make a mod to disable the power button for short press. The action that would be needed to turn the screen on and off. I think it would be a really cool feature
I know that long press is required for reboot and for hard reboot and I defiantly don't want to remove that.
I am running CM10 on Komodo rls.15 kernel
Thanks
Hopeful bump

I would be afraid to do that on the off chance that sweep to wake fails..

That's why you always have a backup

Why disable it, if it fails to turn on the screen then you got to wait to do whatever you wanted to do for your phone to reboot, just don't use the power button if you prefer to sweep

Mine started doing it a while back and it turned out to be my screen protector. I was using Stealth Guard protectors at the time.

Hmm, Im not using a screen protector.
Are those buttons along the bottom actually buttons, or are they just touch sensititve?
See if it tends to work better if you press it as soon as the button back lights go off.... I had to return my first vibrant because of this hardware issue.

Yes, it works better when the backlight goes off! Damn it, I don't want to have to return this phone. Its easy to get into download mode...
Could it have anything to do with the rom I'm running? (Obsidian v4) its supposed to support a kernel with backlight notification...

Any way to remap the camera button yet?
I'd like to turn on the flashlight app when the screen is off, on long press of the camera button.
The phone isn't rooted, and I've no interest in rooting it currently.
Any suggestions?
Well I will tell you before you can even think about doing something like this you will definitely need to be rooted at the least. I'm sure it can be done by one of the devs....

You can remap them, not sure if you can remap to an app though..pkmn let's you map home key when lock screen is on to do that

I just flashed AOKP, but the only way I can find a menu button is to enable the NavBar. Is there a way to make the recent apps short press be the menu button and make recent apps long press?

You need to edit the buttons in system/user/keylayout.
That pathway is not even close to what u need but if you search the thread you'll find the correct path

System/usr/keylayout/synaptics-rmi-touchscreen.kl
Edit were it says APP-SWITCH to MENU save an reboot but you will lose the press and hold for recent apps
Also why you not give root box ROM a try it has all AOKP features plus the option you're looking for like in CM10 to remap these button

Could you point me to the right direction for that Rom? I will miss sense sprint voicemail though :/

Quick question can you get rid of the system persistent power saver mode toggle in the notification bar?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Download NotificationsOff from the play store, then turn off power notifications.
I'm running stock... Haven't rooted... One runs smooth as is...

Then your non-root options to get rid of the notification are rum and coke.
Enjoy.
Us know that's not a bad idea...

Go into your app settings, find the Power app under all, and the clear the data. It'll disappear. I think until you manually go back and turn power saver back on. I did that a few days ago and wondered where it went.

I just hold down my finger on the notification. Select App Info. Then do a Force Close. Will not come back till you reboot.

That's been my workaround too. It will eventually come back even if you don't reboot, but i'm talking about at least a day later.
I actually got used to it being there after a week...
My phone's softkeys have started to fail and as such, I've started using an on screen replacement. What I'd like to do now is make it so the backlight for the soft keys stays off, or even better, if I can somehow completely disable them from responding to touch as well... Maybe a build.prop edit or something? They work just sporadically enough to be annoying at this point...
I use root dim from the market. Sometimes you have to set it again, but works pretty well

Kernel Tuner allows you to adjust the brightness as well.
Cool thanks guys.
What app are you using to replace the soft keys, because I have the same problem.
