So I unrooted last night for a variety of reasons after a year of running custom roms and getting anywhere from 9 mbps to 22 mbps. This morning I used the Xfinity online speed test, and I got a reading of 36 mbps, with an upper speed of 44. How cruel is it that every awesome rom I ran never brought me close to this speed? And why?

So you unrooted and went back to the stock ROM? I remember when I first got my TB and had it stock I was getting 20-30Mbps+ in speedtests, but lately I only get around 5-12Mbps down, although with newer phones ran at the same time I get the same 25+ speeds. Interesting that the speeds increased when you went back to stock, but I would miss the speed and features of AOSP ICS, and the ability to easily tether.
I don't get as good data speeds rooted either but i dont really care
Actually, I re-rooted and then debloated the stock rom, but my speeds are still lightning fast.

I get meh speed on most of my roms and even data drops mostly because I think the radios don't play nice with a lot of the roms, but it is still more then good enough for hd netflix which is all I care about. And my phone is pretty, oh so pretty. More so then stock.

So after rooting and messing around with different roms and such, I installed an app called network that has been mentioned on here, to see about switching to 3G easily while at work.
Well I started noticing that the phone couldn't keep a 4G signal at all anymore, but didn't put 2 and 2 together because of some of the other stuff I had done, mainly flashing through 3 different roms in 45 mins.
Well I unrooted my phone, and got it exchanged today because of some terrible back light bleeding, that thankfully my new phone doesn't have, and rerooted the phone, restored all my apps on Mik Rom, and BAM, 4G goes screwy out of nowhere. So I looked through everything and the only networking type app I had was Network. I uninstalled it, and now instead of 998 ping and .5 d/l speeds I am averaging somewhere near 14 down and 71 ping.
Only change was that app. Anyone else have this issue after installing that app? Or if you are having 4G issues, and have this app, UNINSTALL IT!
just thought I'd throw it out there, considering it was making me really mad.
Just tested it myself and it's all good here.

Did you make changes in the network app?
The app is designed to DISABLE 4g. So if you made changes then yeah you would lose 4g.
Im sure this isnt the case, but wanted to mention it just in case.
I use mine to disable 4g since im not in a 4g Area but it works fine this way. But then again my 4g cant go screwy because it doesn't exist.

Hmmm... I notice your speedtest app actually showing an accurate upload (compared to the double digits people used to post. Is this an updated version? Speedtest had acknowledged inaccurate reporting on the TB.
I removed the proxy on my evo a while ago mainly because it broke the streaming music. I also noticed a pretty nice speed increase on top of it fixing my streaming issue.
Streaming works just fine on the 3D and 3G speeds are so so not as good as my evo with proxy removed. This could just be the radio or dumb luck. Has anyone tried removing the proxy to see if it has increased speeds any? I'm thinking about trying it but figure I would ask if anyone has given it a whirl yet.
Update:
I decided to just give it a try, called sprint, got a super cool guy gave me the MSL no ?'s asked. Was on the phone no more than a min with him, I am gonna make sure to answer the survey questions for him. I love getting cool people. Anyway just removed the proxy and ran some speed tests, didn't really make much of a difference.
I'm getting between 400-800 down & 500 up average. Like I said similar results with & without the proxy at least for me. I'm just gonna leave it removed, I can't imagine having the proxy will ever help speeds in the future. It is the middle of the day so average speeds tend to be a little slower. I have pulled 1,500+ down on my evo in the same test area at times but that wasn't an average.
If anyone else wants to try I would be curious to see if it makes any difference or not since different areas can perform very differently.
Yes, confirmed faster. There's a thread about this in the development thread.
can HTC install a trackball on this thing?

oh ok. Didn't seem to have nearly the effect as it did on the evo but like I said I left it out. Plus I only did a few tests so I'm sure it will be better in the long run. A trackball would be kinda cool actually, I'm not sure where they would put it though.
Can someone post the original settings?

Never seemed to do much for me, I have my proxy settings back on.
didnt really do anything for me either.
Alright guys, since tj won't answer his thread, I guess I'll ask it here.
Has anyone had signal issues on Stocklite V6 besides me? I compared my signal to my friend's phone on the same network and he always had about 1-2 more bars than I did. Is it like that on stock roms? Or just this one in specific? I keep having zero bars to completely no signal a lot and even when I'm outside.
It happened to me, but no signal at all!! Im waiting to see what could cause this, and then see if is the rom
Edit: I went to settings, and my phone was looking for signal and found it... Its solve for now...

Meh, too late for me. Switched to Miracle V4. I'll keep posting if I still get signal issues though.

Well bro using it and it's great. Never had any signal issues. Full signal all the time. Though battery sucks a little bit. Make sure network selection set to automatic.
I just noticed yesterday I am now getting the 4g LTE icon lit up on my phone in my area(very pleasant surprise) and the speeds don't seem that great though. I've traveled through LTE areas before and the speeds were 4x to 8x this fast. Could they still be tweaking it? Thanks for any input.

Yeah that's not fast, but it's not slow either. I get an average of 20mbps download on lte. Bit it varies from time of day, to objects in the way, and take into consideration how many people are using the tower you're on.
That's normal speed when they are first turning up and testing the frequencies give it a week or two and see if it improves

They must be testing it. I go from LTE to 4g to Edge in just a few seconds without even moving. They're definitely doing something because I was getting LTE service inside my workpkace where I previously got no signal at all. Plus, I was showing LTE at times today and couldn't load anything web based:screwy: I hope it does get faster.

The 3 times I have been in an area when they are doing tower upgrades it does exactly what you just described. It will go faster once they finish it.
AT&T turned on LTE here a few months ago and it's no faster than HSPA was, not even per tower... like at work I would see 12mbit down, at home 4mbit.. It hasn't changed. I've been told latency and other things are better but I never paid attention to them in the past.

DUDE i just got this on cm9! i've gotten this 3 times with aokp and glitch, i have absolutely no idea why this happens but it's only an issue with ICS.. i'm assuming something between the OS and the modem firmware just glitches out and causes this. not an issue on JB or GB from what I remember, haven't actually tried kitkat long enough to use it.
but yeah i think it's an ICS issue. no clue why it happens.
oh man that looks EXACTLY the same as the message I got today. wish i didn't delete it because i swear i recognize those characters in that order!
I ran geewiz for about 2 years and never seen this. My spectrum on cm builds gets a text from verizon when I get emails. But I've never experienced wild lettering like this. From a blank number

yeah i know it's crazy. it doesn't happen often, i've been running ICS for months (probably around 4 months now) and i've gotten this around a total of maybe 5 times. i don't think it costs money or anything, it's just weird modem firmware misfiring. i can tell you this never happened on like cm10.1 or anything.
yeah it happens...
