[Q] Micromax A87 swap is always on - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I rooted My My micromax A87 with the help of XDA and I was Succeeded in It, and then I Partitioned my SD Card into three,
(FAT-32 + EXT 3 + Linux Swap) with Parition Mini Tool.
then I Installed Link2SD and Swapper 2 its all fine but microsd is too slow to Link and Swap because its (Class 4).
but it run the temple run and some HD Games with Small Lag.
So I Experimented with other swap tools like "MemoryInfo & Swapfile Check and ROEHSOFT RAM-EXPANDER (SWAP)"
and then Uninstalled these. but there is the problem starts.
Now in my A87 it shows a swap cache always on. I opened adb shell and look for free.
I wonder that there is a swap file generated around 50 MB but I cant see it in my External SD or Internal Memory.
So I Removed my SD Card and then check again, Still I see the same swap value 50 MB.
My Internal memory has no change in the value (available space not reduced) it looks like the same value before
I Install the MemoryInfo & Swapfile Check + ROEHSOFT RAM-EXPANDER (SWAP).
Why this Happening any one have any Idea.

hi
hi ansung.....i ve rooted my ninja 4...

Dear All,
I have started this thread:

Kindly contribute, share and explain.
We can help and built a community like I have done for Karbonn & Spice mobiles.
Without help from all members its not possible.
Thanks for reading.

Chosing microsd cadrs
first link some of the application with link2sd so you can get freespace on ur device
then u have to use any higher Class SD card for better performance
this is happening because, speed of the sd card is too slow compare to a RAM, RAM having a speed above (300mbps) .
Sandisk Mobile Ultra Class 10 will deliver a better performance (30Mbps)
Sandisk Extreame Pro C10 will give (95 Mbps) (but expensive)
this will help u to improve ur gaming.

Where did I get class 10 memory card in pune???

[Q] Why should we use a2sd scripts?

First of all i am not a dev, and the statements bellow are confirmed by devs and known guys from our O1 community like Maktail and Miasmic (thanks guys).
Most of us use a2sd scripts like darktremmor, ungaze, link2sd etc. and many of those are suppose to provide us with practically unlimited sd space for apps and data. But the common problem which allways occures is that after moving one too much apps to sd you will get at some point bootloops. The phone will not be able to load all apps from sdext partition and reboots all the time. So no a2sd script is able to provide what is ment for.
My question of why use a2sd script is related to the fact that moving apps to sd using built in android script which resides in every ROM (even stock obviously), moves to sd the same amount of apps as other scripts mentioned and has the same behaviour of bootlooping when too many apps are moved to sd. The only difference is that other scripts provide more options, like moving dalvikcache to sd. But that doesn`t help either.
So why use a2sd scripts when the result is the same as using stock android script?
A2sd dev dk_zero-cool (thanks) said here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342387&page=25 that is common knoledge that android cannot handle more than 1GB external data and recommended to use no more than 1,5 GB sdext partition formated with other recovery than CWM which is buggy. Did that and results are the same bootloops. Which means that moving too many apps to sd gives at some point system instability no matter what app or which script we use.
That is why more exepensive phones have more internal mem, up to 16GB in nexus case for example, which is using internal mem even for data games storrage. In that case they use a script to link internal sd data to external sd data (folder mounting), which is of no use for us.
Using DT, ungaze and android built in move to sd option, i could move to sd the same amount of apps before getting bootloops. So why buther using all king of scripts when the resilt is the same?
And now i get to the real questions, which are:
Is there any a2sd script that gives the use of more than 1.5 GB of external data without system instability (bootloops)? (i could move about 1.2 GB to sdext using ungaze) Please post the answer to this after you tested and moved or linked to sd more than 1.5 GB of apps.
Is there a 1 or 1.5 GB limit of external data which android (Linux) can handle before getting instable? If so, can this limit be overcome?
If there is a limit, why the options to create more than 2 GB sdext partitions in recoveries?
Can some nice dev make a script that lets the phone give us a slap on the face when getting close to the point where the system gets instable, if the limit of external space cannot be overcome? It seems that most of a2sd script devs discontinued their work.
my opinion
I have used both ungaze and link2sd... link2sd got unstable when i am using almost over a gig of Ext partition while right now I'm using ungaze with 1.7gb of used Ext partition... It was stable for me... No bootloop or anything...
Using the latest cm7 nightly rom, fk v4...
EveryThing has it's own LIMITATION

Really? 1.7 Gb and stable? Ext 4? Did you use CWM to make it? What card do you use?
New great a2sd mounting folders like disks! Need some testers here guys, please help. Maybe this way we can solve a2sd bootloops.
Must see this:

based on my experience
Ext 2, used amonra 3.0.6, class 4 16gb transend, faster boot up than link2sd...

So nothing special. Close to what is use. Except for ext2. I use ext4. Could ext2 be more stable?
does anyone has proof that internal sd card is better & faster than eksternal sd card class 10?
Is there really need for a proof on that matter? The fact that class 10 is the latest technology doesn`t make it ultimate.

yes but it makes sense if your internal sd card is only class 2 (imagine factory want to cut budget product and add low sd card read & write).
one thing for sure, my quadrant says about 800 using internal sd card, and now about 2000 using eksternal. and if someone say that quadrant score is irrelevant, i only ask, why?
I use link2sd with 512 or 600-700 MB EXT3, and never got a problem, I prefer huge apps/games like NFS shift, in internal memory and data obviously in normal SD partition, and I prefer keeping apps like facebook, camera360 and other [unmoveable by default] apps in EXT3.. this way I can install several apps without any problem
I dont know if this has been asked before and I am feeling lazy to search. Does ungaze data2sd work with ext4 now?

[Q] Swap memory management

Hi ,
I've been searching all over xda for an app or a script that could give more control over a swap file present in the SD card .By more control ....I mean ...is it possible to select which apps ram usage can be swapped to the file and is it possible to prevent ram usage of some apps from being swapped ? The reason is that after 1 or two days the device becomes extremely laggy and have to restart and apps start freezing just with a swap file of size 50 mb.
I use an LG L3 running on large rev 2 with SD merge .
For the swap file I use Ram expander .
Thanks in advance

Help! installing games bigger than the internal storage

I have a Samsung Galaxy win and it was already rooted. Now i think a have the china or taiwan version of Galaxy win because the internal storage is only 1.48 GB
now i can't install games that requires more than the available size of my internal storage. for example need for speed most wanted. whenever i install the game it says
"Insufficient Memory
1960 MB is required for your game insert or clear space on your sd
memory card to begin download"
the good thing is again, my grand quattro is rooted and i have 16 gb micro sd external storage.
Please help me "Knowledgeable ones" to find a way to install the game like need for speed most wanted in my samsung galaxy grand quattro with only 1.48 GB available storage.......
i really really really thank you in advance for your help.

i already have gl2sd in my win. but what i know is that it transfer the whole data of the game from the internal to external storage.
but how can i move the internal data if the game doesn't let me to install the game in the first place....
but i already somehow managed to know a little bit about this. and that is to download an apk + data...
install the apk, transfer the data to external storage and just use supermount to mount the external and the internal storage.
i don't want to pirate but i don't have a choice... im sorry.
any way my other question is. what other samsung galaxy unit games that are compatible with samsung grand quattro?. because its hard to find a game specifically to grand quattro in terms of finding it on the other way....
Dont need to pirate, just download game data from any other source and put it in folder of ext sd card according to gl2sd and install apk and n mount data in gl2sd and open the game.

Asphalt7,8 nfs hp, nfs mw, dark night rises, mc4, cod, nova, amazing spider man, fifa14, real boxing, pvz2... these games are working fine on quattro. In some games a bit graphics prob but tje gameplay is smooth and no lag at all. And some games are not officially supported for quattro so there are no other choice than downloading from other sources.

This is not working as after swaping both internal and external memory size showing same as it was before in internal sd card. So directry binder or gl2sd or folder mount is good option.

If you still didnt find a solution, see this guide, works for every android if you have SD card large enough and you know your internal and external sd card paths
click thanx if I helped you
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2469189
This tutorial works for me, but after reset the cards won't get changed just open the external to internal app and tap the button External>Internal again.
hi i know this is abit out dated but Mostwanted just went on sale for 20c in AU and after installing it on my rooted J1 ACE 4G (900mb left on internal + 10GB on SD) which i applied the SDCARD fix for KITKAT and having enough money left from Google Surveys ($3.10) to buy Most Wanted and LINK2SD PLUS (to copy obb and apps to sd card like Fallout shelter and terraria)
when i launch Most Wanted it loads the downloading phase and says:
"Insufficient Memory: 2055MB is required for your game, but only 0MB storage available on your
device. clear space on your device to begin download.
now thats wrong i have 900mb left on my device, how do i fix this. and i cant find a working obb for v1.3.69 of this game
Whoopsie Whoopsie !!
Easiest way is to have a rooted device, and install foldermount android app
Follow the instruction as per app, Simple 2-3 clicks process and enjoy games and apps of larger size way beyond your imagination. Always worked for me. Ext2sd and blah blah apps are waste.

[Q] Insufficient storage available

Hello everyone,
This is my first post here. I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace 5830i and today I bought a new SD card because the old one was crap. I had this problem before, I have it now. When I try to download an application from the Android Market, there is always this error ''There is unsufficient storage available''. I checked and I had 23 free MB of Device memory and 1.8 GB free on my SD card. I read a lot of articles about this problem and tried many ''solutions'' and nothing fixed it. I will be really, really thankful if anyone can help me fix this. Cheers :good:

You can always use scripts to increase the memory like CronMod Unofficial. But the problem with scripts is that it lags after you install some apps. This is because your ext partition is mounted as the /data mount point and SD Card read /write operations are slower than internal memory read/ write operations. So I suggest you use Link2SD Extreme which lags less compared to other scripts. Link2SD places the app link locations in the internal memory and corresponding data in the ext partition. Since the links are in the internal memory, it will be much faster. All you need is a rooted phone, rom with init.d support (all custom roms have one) and ext partition on SD Card (Go to CWM> Advanced> Partition SD Card> Size (1GB)> Swap(0MB) wait for "Partitioning Done!" message). Make sure to do the setup right. If you created the ext partition using CWM, choose ext3 as the partition type from Link2SD pop-up. Only if that doesn't work go with ext2 or then ext4. Here is the link,
Link2SD Extreme
Try to implement this is a newly flashed rom with newly created ext partition. Hope I Helped
