As you already solved the problem, can you please add "[SOLVED]" to the title of your first post?
Would be very nice for other users who look through the Q&A posts trying to help others ... just like me spending some time to read your post and finally read at the end, that you don't need help any more.

[Q] Got my Samsung Galaxy S2, now what?

Hi there,
Today I received my Samsung Galaxy S2 and now I'm trying to find some information about custom roms for my phone. After searching through all sticky's here I cannot find any info about where to start with custom roms.
My previous phone was a HTC HD2. I've installed android onto my phone using MAGLDR and Clockworkmod, which worked great. The thing I liked the most was that in case I screwed up a installation I could alway flash the original Windows Mobile ROM back, making my phone almost stock again(still will have to remove HSPL then).
I also helped a friend install custom roms on his HTC Desire HD, but the thing I notest on that phone was that you could never go back to the original android installation. I hope this is different with my new phone.
So these are my questions:
- Where can I find some information about flashing a new ROM to my phone?
- And is there a way to revert back to the original ROM after using a custom ROM?

First root your device.
Then:
Flash a rom which you can find in the Development section. Every big rom has their installation procedure explained. (VillainRom, Cognition.. dunno)
----
You can just flash back the original stock rom, but there's a hidden counter that counts how many times you flashed new software. You need a little tool called a 'usb-jig' to completely undo the number the counter is on. This way you'll retain your warranty.

Nope, with Odin. You can find the Programm and the rom together with instructions on www samfirmware com
Thanks everyone, I'm downloading the original rom now, then will try my first custom rom for the SGS2 (VillainROM 3.0.0)

[Q] ROM/Kernel

hi guys,
i'm new here so i don't know how everything works,so i could use some help.. i've recently rooted my phone using CF-ROOT 5.0 XWKJ1 and i'm a bit confused what to do now.. i wan't my phone to run on newest stock firmware, which one should I use ? the most recent one in intratech thread is XWLA4 (phone is XXKI4,just like mine,so it is for my phone or what does it mean? ), can I just flash it to the phone ? can i do it through CWManager app ? and i still don't entirely understand the difference between Kernel and ROM, I'd also like to try the cyanogen mod, what should I do first ? and how can I flash back original stock rom ? because cyanogen is 100mb and original rom is 8, so I'm not sure if it will restore the phone to the stock state after flashing stock rom back.. and yes, I've read the guide to GalaxyS2 and Android, but still do not understand everything..
thank you guys for your effort.

You need to start reading the guides your questions are all answered in the relevant guides .
You want CM you follow the instructions for CM you want xxx you follow the instructions .
ROM is firmware kernel is part of the firmware that interfaces OS and Hardware .
But suggestion is to wait for release of ICS .

Take time out to read the guides as it'll help you out.

You would have been better posting in the QandA for the Note, but if you can get into download mode just flash a stock rom and start again
Thanx

[Q] Installation aborted

Hi everyone, sorry to disturb y'all here
But I have some questions over here
Currently I am using the Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830i model and I flashed the Ace-I-Sure rom for quite some time ago.
But now i wanted to try another rom,so I downloaded the new rom and put it in my sd card, wipe cache, dalvik, factory reset and everything according to the instructions given by the rom creator, somehow when the device is tryong to open the package, suddenly the installation was aborted. So I try to perform it again, but it's still the same, what is the problem actually? Do i have to flash back to stock rom before flashing a new custom rom? (I was thinking of CM7 or Adrenaline ROM). Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance
P/s : I am a noob newbie here,if there's anything that I did wrong while I am posting this,I am sorry

The reason you are getting the error "Installation Aborted" could be because the rom package must be corrupted. Try downloading it again. If you still have this error, it could be a problem with the rom itself. In that case, you can install another custom rom from the recoverymod. You don't have to flash stock rom before flashing a new one as this was an error caused by the new rom and not your device. If you still can't install any of the other rom, then you can install stock using odin. Do post your results. Hope I Helped
