[Q] Swap and internal memory partition - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Hi, can you create a swap partition with a locked bootloader? I've googled it and I've seen different methods that require a kernel with swap support, does the stock kernel have this? If not can you still do the swap thing in some other way?
Also, do you need unlocked bootloaders to create a partition which behaves such as internal memory and is stored in the SD Card?

you can use those that use a file to make the swap, I think it only needs root

Can someone tell me how (if possible) to use an ext3 partition to expand the internal and memory on this tab?
System memory is just 200mb so it starts wining about low space already..... It's running on gingerbread and is rooted.

okay... first of all backup your sd card.. then go to recovery mode and go to advanced->partition sdcard->set the size of the partition that you like.In case that this fails connect the sdcard to ur pc with a sd card adaptor and format it
Its not that simple, the current custom rom doesn't support a2sd+ yet..... Formatting is not the problem

[Q] Internal Storage always running out of space...

Hi,
I have an Xperia Play.
However, I am always running out of space on my internal storage...but I don't know why.
I am rooted with with both Titanium & App2SD installed.
I have very few apps installed and nearly all of them have been moved to my SD card. Yet I only have around 40mb free on my internal storage (from a total of 400mb).
I cannot figure out what is using all of my internal space. I have looked in Titanium at apps using my interal storage and it does not even come close to the 350mb it says I am using.
What could be using all this space and is there any way to find out for sure?
Thanks!
Its the app data and the dalvik cache.
Have u heard of partitioning and s2e?
move app data and dalvik cache to sd ext. that gives u more internal memory.

Hi, I think it's useless to open another thread about same "issue".
I have an Xperia Ray and with only 400Mo in internal storage it's not easy to install all that I want.
I moved all app to SD when possible, made some of them system app with TB, cleaned cache and data when possible.
My Ray (updated to ICS) is rooted and I installed the nAa's CWM 5.0.2.7 "recovery".
What is needed to partioning the sd card ? Is this possible with a locked bootloader ?

U can do it with a locked bootloader. Normally I would advise u use s2e but that wouldn't work on ICS.
Here's how u partition
Backup ur SD card
Boot into recovery
Select advanced
Partition SD card option
Select a size : recommended 1024
Select swap as 0. (32 if gaming)
Reboot
However u will need an app to move the stuff to the partition. Try link2sd
u can partition via recovery or via PC. try ad2sdx by amarullz for sd ext @babylonbwoy, are u wid stock kernel, cos these a2sd things are kernel related. and i dont think stock kernels support it.

Thanks guys.
Right...so I looked into what you were saying.
I ended up partitioning 1GB of my SD card and using it with Link2SD.
Everything was great, it created loads of space on my internal storage.
BUT...then I rebooted my phone.
After a lengthy 5 minutes boot up, I was presented with error upon error. I now have no space on my internal storage and the secondary partition on my SD card is all used up too...I guess Link2SD has somehow failed.
Any ideas?
do one thing just back up all the apps then reboot recovery n flash a stock rom with 2.3.6 xxkph/ddkq6 baseband n dnt use app 2 sd jus use stock app2sd given in manage applications........ good day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ur space will increaseor jus use optimizer 15 tools ..... pro version its an better option!!!!!!!!!!!!!choose what ever u like..................
Sorry for using same thread Red_Kop...

I tried with Rom Manager option "partition sd card", it didn't work. I had choice between 128MB-256MB-512MB (choosed 512) and swap size I choosed 0 and after 32Mb, but none worked. After rebooting everything was the same.
Then I tried rebooting recovery and setting size myself but it didn't work too.
U can't just do that. You have to use an app to move the data to the memory card. Try s2e if ur on gingerbread or link2sd if on ICS
Ok, I'm on ICS, thought that I have to prepare sd card before moving things.
I'm a total noob when it come to android, only few weeks using it.
First partition via clockwork, then install link2sd.
Link2sd will give u a move to SD option

Are there any way to increase LWW RAM size?

I saw that some of the Sony devices ( i think X10) can increase RAM size by using SD card. That method available for LWW WT19?
I try that method but not work with CM9.1
Thanks!

Basically, swapping should be possible to enable on almost any device. I wrote a short description about how to do it manually here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29617650&postcount=6
You'll need an ext3 or ext4 partition on your SDcard.
Hi
it's like creating a swap file; not fast as Ram but perhaps useful.
There are also simpler but less performing methods as creating swap file on fat32, as swapper2 app does.
Or if you have unlocked bootloader you can use rage kernel which already has 3 different scripts to swap memory to cache, to system and to sd. In any case, i don't know how useful it can be, it really stresses the sd card and it just gives more space to the phone to occupy memory. Android automatically frees up memory needed for an application to run by closing unnecessary activities, usually cached, so if you give it more "space" you will still end up with more running services with subsequent impact on phone performance.
There's a lot of app you can find on the market that can do this but i forgot the name
Just search something like ram booster or something like that on the market

Best App2SD method ?

So we all know the Xperia 2011 internl storage is very low. On my Xperia Mini Pro, with CM9 installed (normally, the smallest rom out there), I'm struggling to install apps and keep my storage with at least 50mb free. I use the ZDBox app that has an APP2SD option for moving apps to the SD Card but that's still not enough.
Is there a way I overlooked ? In my old HD2 days, Apps2Ext was working very well. With a 1gb ext partition on your sd-card, you were good to go. However, "ext" doesn't seem to be a popular option around here.
Any idea ?
Thanks !
Link2SD
best for me

Hi
I confirm, link2sd is a life saver.
Link2sd FTW!
But ull lose ur apps if u format ur fone even though apps are in the sd card

Link2SD is the best method.
Format your sdcard:
2 partitions (primary) - 1 FAT32 (the main one), 2 EXT2 (for moving apps to 500-1000MB).
In my system I have 100-200 apps (internel storage -150mb free/ system-40 mb free).
All apps are linked to second partition on the sd card.
Important LEAVE launchers, widgets and root apps in internal storage!
Thanks guys! Will look into it this week-end...

link2sd is the best for me, its has many options, move app to system, unistall system app, clear cache, clear dalvik cache, and you can choose 1 by 1 were to install the app, sometimes i use it just to unistall some system app and clear dalvik ( when i flash a new rom) because you can use it without mount ext for that
Same here. The first app I install after a flash, is Link2SD and Root Explorer. Can't live without them.
Hi
As said, link2sd all the life.:good:
why do i selec install location failure " segmentation fault"
file system type of formated partition
Hi Everyone,
I would like to ask if You know with file system is used during preparing of sd card?
I'm using to create partitions on card CWM (6.0.2.7) from stock CM10 FXP203 kernel.
Created partition has 1GB but App2SD at first run not accepted ext2 saying that that file system might be unsuported.
My phone is Sony LwW with 32GB SD card. What I should select or do to order to work.
Thanks
Thom

try to restart phone
or try to choose other ext partition on link2sd or something sholud work if not try to create it on computer with mini-tool partition wizard. it won't format you sd card data so don't worry i have ext 4 and no problems with link2sd

An ext3 partition is created when u partition through cwm. So select ext3 option in link2sd.
Link2sd best app for moving, freezing, converting user app to system app,

Now is working but I had one strange issue where after moving programs to sd card they still exist in phone so I've two copies.
To be certain how to do it: first I've to move to sdcard and then I've to create link right?
EDIT: Seems to be first time use issue problem, I didn't saw arrow (link)
Thanks

[Q][Sola] sd partition

Hi guys, this is my first post here.
I have a question: I know that i can't do a sd partition without a mod kernel, but there's no mod kernel for my device(sola)!
In development section there is a script that let me move app to sd but I don't understand if it works like Link2sd or if it is a great substitute of a sd partition..
Tnx for help!
are you refering to sd card not mounting as sd ? if so and you are a rpot user if u can send me ur vold.stab from systrm/etc i can look at changing it for you

I found it but how can i send it to u? (sorry noob)
I mean the ext sd card, I have one of 8 GB class 10 and i want to putt maps and other app there, but i can't partition this.
I think that this tool could help me but i don't understand very well it..(here's the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1932480&page=2)
just attach it in a pm to me that batch file will work but will not let you mount sd tp the pc i q
will take a look i have fixed thus for thw go and if i can get tht file ill look for the sola

that is absolutely not true. you dont need a custom kernel to partition your sd card.
what you need is a class 4 and above memory card and a rooted phone.
here is a full and easy guide that i always use everytime when i want to partition my sd card to use link2sd

I'm sorry maybe cause of my bad english u guys don't understand my question,i only want to save the full app on the real sd card,i mean the one that u could pick up from the phone and put in ur computer,i know that i have to create a partition on my sd card but i didn't know if the kernel support it; so i serach something alternative like a script.
I'm really sorry for this misunderstanding!

so you are saying that the apps and app data are biengs stored on ur internel memory not your sd card when using apps2sd
Sent from my ST27i using xda app-developers app
Link2sd moves tha app on my ext sd card (not the phone sd card) but i know that it doesn't move it completly, it moves only a part, the other still stay on the memory's phone (or phone sd card i don't know).
I read a some post on this and in order to move totally the app to the ext sd card I know is necessary create a partition on the ext sd card and have a custom kernel (i'm not really sure about this last thing because a user over here says that it doesn't necessary and stock kernel is ok);
I only want to know if there is a alternative method to move the full app on the ext sd card (like the script in the post of the development section, but i don't understand if it's the solution that i'm seraching) or the only way is create a partition on the sd card (using a mod kernel or not..).
tnx a lot!
