Just flashed JB official rom and I'm really annoyed by the shuttering while opening system settings tabs. Is it only me or others are facing this too?
Also noticed random choppiness here and there. Not feeling buttery at all =\

Why would your country of residence matter when it's a release for the international gs3? The international gs3 serves all of Europe after all.

Yep, I've the same stuttering. My guess is the apps end up being responsible. I mean: if you wipe clean, install jb: all is smooth. Install a couple of apps, a launcher, leave a lot in multitasking, maybe you've a couple of services running etc. Boom, starts being sluggish in transitions here and there.
I notice super smooth when I wipe clean, but once I set up everything back, there's a bit of the old lag here and there. I live with it
International version means GTI9300 and that pretty much nails the subject.
So far I have never seem faster phone. Ever.
Anyone who says this official jb update isn't stuttery and sluggish in places is full of a that brown substance ' and yeah I did the fresh install' wipes ' permissions blah blah blah' don't get me wrong I can feel the butter and when I do my s3 floats like the delorian in back to the future ' but then I open the widget draw and am reminded of the rusty robot out of the wizard of oz' hopefully xdadorothy will follow the yellow Rom road, and inject some oil into the creaky android and make him dance again...... No idea. But, surely, an I9300 bought in Poland is the same as an I9300 bought in UK or similar.
They're the same phone.

I don't think anyone who's complaining about it has:
1. Made a full wipe/factory reset.
2. Removed or frozen the crap and bloatware they don't use and/or need running.
Do these two things and report back.
I have flashed all but one of the leaks, due to the fact that they came so quickly I couldn't get to it in time, and the truth is that LIB is the smoothest one yet once these steps are completed.
Obviously, if you load your granny's sleeper sofa and fridge on the roof before the race, your Porsche, fast though it may be, is going to handle differently. It's not the car.

Whenever i try a new FW, ROM, whatever, i always do all the wipes and remove all kind of apps that i don't need that come with the system and are "un-uninstallable" and ALL JB Sammy Leaks and CM10 are LAGGY!
If you have a Quad Core Processor and can't handle Dialer and Messages app, well, there is a BIG PROBLEM!
They went all 60 frams and project butter when Google presented Jelly Bean but tell me why the heck i can't open the effing widget drawer and don't get all the lag in the world.
Wait for CM10?

Did you say reliable?
Then forget about both ICS and JB and go with GB. Any variant will do.
ICS/JB ROMs are just too unfinished yet to be a reliable daily driver, IMO. People are woking hard on them though, so there is no doubt they will one day become as reliable as good old GB.
Agreed.

This is a very accurate summary of where we stand. I'm still running Nottachtrix 1.3.1 even though Nottach left the Atrix over a month ago, just because everything works on it. Bluetooth, wifi, HWA, Ubuntop, all cameras, and even a decent selection of themes for both android and linux.
But with the new leak libs, there is sure to be a fantastic CM9/10 ROM that takes advantage of them. We just have to be patient.
Hi
If you're not using thoroughly your phone, the CM10 form Epinter is now reliable enough for a daily use.
I was using CM7 since months, and after trying CM10 last week, i'm still using it and have found no real limitations for a basic usage.
I'd recommend you to keep a GB based rom if you want to have the most reliable system and if video recording is a primary need for you.
Just my $.02: I don't even use the "latest" GB 2.3.7 ROM: I've returned to Neutrino 2.6 EE (the latest is 2.91 at this writing). CM 7.2 RC1 was the most stable + efficient ROM from the CM gurus for my Atrix. I charge my phone once every two or three days too.
Think about driving a car that everyone laughs at that's never needing to go to the shop. Gits ya there, gits ya back, reliably and without anyone really paying attention to it, and it just goes and goes and holds its own against everyone else. Newest doesn't always mean best; trustworthiness does.
Epinter's CM10 worked OK for me despite the few well known bugs.
You might give the brand new AtrICS ROM a shot. It's hard to believe that it could already be as stable as it claims to be, but with working hardware acceleration, it should have some bugs fixed as compared to CM10.

I switched from epinter's CM10 to AtrICS today and found it to be a fairly usable. You trade some features for others.
I prefer the interface of CM10 to AtrICS, but AtrICS feels really snappy thanks to the HWA. I'll probably get used to ICS after a while. The Camera works well, but, like others I noticed that after switching from the back camera to the front, there was some corruption on the right side of the screen. Going into Camera Settings and unchecking then rechecking the Widescreen box fixes this. There are problems with the unlock screen of AtrICS; it can be slow to appear when you press the power button and I have seen the screen turn on for a split second before turning right back off. If you let the phone go into a deep sleep, you may see a black screen for a minute, in my case the unlock screen did eventually appear. I've had one reboot right after closing a bunch of apps running in the background then trying to open a browser.
WiFi works great with AtrICS and mobile data feels faster than I remember.
My mobile gone hot after a few minute use AtrICS, and experienced network lost. The phone also hot with epinter 's version.
Restored TopSmart1.3. GB has the stablity I trust.

Does your camcorder autofocus very often (around 1-5 seconds)? Mine does with Somebody's CM10, I'm just wondering if it just me.
Hi all, I'm not sure whether this is the right place to deliver my problem on my Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100.
My S2 is freezing frequently and I am having difficulty to trace down what is the actual cause.
My current running ROM is CM10 official nightlies.
I try to track down the obsessive running processes using WatchDog.
And, it turn out to be android.media.processing is running at high CPU (>50%) always.
So, I tried to disable the media scanner using Rescan Media. However, the freezing problem is still occured.
The freezing problem could be happened at any time(internet browse surfing, incoming call, sending a message, plugging charger into phone) and even during idling!
I am really out of idea, so I would like to seek any help from all of you. Thanks in advance.
Happened to me despite whatever kernel i tried on JB. Tried stock cm, stock aokp(the same aa stock cm), changmin's, dorimanx and siyah.
I didnt even undervolt plus i even tried to increase thw stock voltage values given in case JB requires more lower. But i cant get past 2days of usage without any freeze issues.
Im a heavy user of this phone and i charge more than 3x daily or just leave it charge or use while charge.
Will be testing leaked 4.1.2 today to see if it still persists. If it still does, im thinking of a worn out mobo or processor might be the case. If its fine, maybe those AOSP isnt much stable for some processors/mobos.
Was suprised btw seeing not many complaints over the issue across s2 section. Hardwarw issue or aosp stuffs?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Currently still trying to debug for the issue.
The phone works fine so far after I re-flash the CM10 without flashing the Gapps.
Now just trying to run the phone with some daily running apps like (Gmail, Facebook, Whatsapp, Line) to see if the freezing problem occured again.
I was worrying it could be due to faulty hardware since I accidentally drop it twice before.
I had lots of freezes, but on JellyBam it's working smooth...
My S2 freeze again while I am surfing the net. Anyone has any solution to this?

Notw that the uptime pic attached dosent show two days since i had to manually reboot the device after having some 'insufficient storage' errors n the reboot solved the issue. That is why it isnt showing an uptime of full two days

Try AoKP official or Rootbox Release /Nightlies. Plain good and reliable. Im avoiding those non-controlled environment, super experimental and not much tested commits done in those other ROMs. Not to say that they arent good, its just that the devs trackrecord and status is a bonus imho.

Paranoid are based off CM10 while AOKP and RootBox aokpJB are using GalaxyS2 specific stuffs from CM10 too. Most of our AOSPJB stuffs are similar to one another since hacksung are the pioneer who ported and built the base and improved over time with devs submitting patches to em.
But an issue caused by specific apps or framework is a diff case since those arent drivers/modules related and those are rom specific. Its hard to determine the root of the cause anyway -_-

I love our somewhat reliable/stable JB ROMS (thank you, XDA Devs!!) But losing stock Note functionality with S-Pen (double-tap for S-Memo, press and hold for screen capture, Photo Editor) always kept me running back to stock Touch Wiz. I was a flash-ahloic til something I did broke GPS and made it unusable. So I Odin-ed back to stock and still couldn't get GPS working. Eventually, I took my Note to the AT&T Device Support Center and they flashed the most current Samsung Firmware and I'm good to go. I've been Stock, non-rooted for 28 days, 11 hours and minutes LOL.
So I've resisted even rooting my Note at this point. Just been playing around with different launchers and widgets. It's still fun just customizing the Note to my liking. But I found that lags and freezing still even happen on Stock non-rooted, things I used to blame on any particular ROM I'd flashed.
Now the flash addiction is creeping up on me...

Paranoid is looking really good to me right now

You are not addicted then.
Addiction is what I have, I downloaded everything I needed to root and flash a custom Rom before I received my note. The minute I received it, i rooted it and flash a custom rom. That's addiction.

Hahaha that reminds me of myself. I ordered a black S3 64gb and even before I got it in my hands I was already downloading the ROMs and applications that I wanted on my phone. It reminds me very much of the windows mobile days.

I started flashing on the AT&T Tilt 1. Those HTC smart phones were the business. It was not only a ROM flashing frenzy, but finding the perfect radio too. And the .ruu blues

Oh yeah and keeping an eye on the green LED light....good old days.... when running GB on the tilt2 was like dreaming about having JB 4.2 on our Notes.
I now think, I'm just going to let my contract end and see where I go from here. I've read good things about the AT&T version of the Galaxy S4...we'll see or the Nexus 5
Me to I wish we had multirom like nexus 7 or Motorola defy I don't see why not we have twrp then we could multi boot man its the best

You can just have 2 diff backups and flash when needed
Just an update:
So I ended up flashing Jellybam and what a joy that ROM was! So many customization options and it just ran smooth. That is until I got a Random Reboot.
So then I flashed Paranoidandroid, put on LMT and found that it didn't work as well as I'd hoped as a replacement for Swipe Pad. Anyway, I proceeded to customize it to make it my daily driver when RR strikes 4xs in an hour.
At this point, I go running back to ICS: Novena. I dig the boot animation and that ROM has always been solid for me. And of course everything performs flawlessly: no RRs and great battery life.
But am I content? LOL
Lurking in the Blackstar Dev thread, I read about the combination of X and Flappjaxx ICS 3.0.2 kernel.
Getting to the point of this post:
That combination is AMAZING! And not in the hyperbolic sense. TRULY AMAZING!
This feels as fast as any JB ROM I've tried. Tho I'm not OC/UV, I'm only using Wheatley and battery life is PHENOMENAL!
So I'm still enjoying my "OG" Note and glad that we have a sharing community in XDA forums and gifted dev support, but if we never get any new ROMS for the lack of a source JB kernel from Samsung, I'm now on my Daily Driver.
Holla back if this combo works for you too.

That rom/kernel combo is a favorite of mine as well ...
I also enjoy cm9.1.0 with the FJ AOSP kernel ...
Both are rock solid for speed and battery life ....IMHO
Those kernels are simply the best running code I've ever used ..
And the wheatley governor is ....well ....amazing on the note.
My thanks go out again, to our incredibly talented developers, and all of our loyal users.....for making the note run the way it was meant to be ......g

Thanks g, I'll have to try that combo as well then.
On the goo.im app, the gapps that's "paired" with CM 9.1.0 is ICS 20120429. Is that the same gapps version you use for that combo?

I don't know what will happen if you do that, but BSX is an ICS ROM and won't be compatible with a JB kernal. I recommend installing goo.im from the Play Store and search for Flappjaxxx in there: results will show his ROMs and kernals. Good luck!

Nope I think that's a ROM and although I haven't flashed that one yet, if it's a new ROM maybe Flappjaxxx has the 3.0.2 kernel already cooked in there. I'll be trying that ROM out soon I sent you a PM.

Hi guys, I wanted to ask, if you guys are feeling the 4.2.2 leak more laggy than the usual 4.1.2...
I own a S4 now, and gave my dad my old S3 ( MC2 sotmax, with Jkay)... he was complaining the phone was very laggy (for a 65 years old person, complaining that it was laggy.... but when I came to see, it was terribly laggy)
So I tried the new 4.2.2 fw, but things just got worse.... went back to to Ultima rom, v13...
It got better, but still laggy...
I know, I can't compare with the S4, but I remember that when I used to own the S3, it wasn't like that... any hints guys?
Thanks

I'm currently using 4.2.2 Pardus rom xv. Fast enough and stable. Try using it and don't forget to install crossbreader in ota.

Thanks for your hint...
But people was reporting heating issues with crossbreeder right?

And I think 4.2.2 is just a leak.... not fast enough like 4.1.2

Hi pride,
I am currently on Leak 4.2.2 and no lags, I just have some slow downs sometimes, else no problems.
Try a full wipe before reinstalling a new ROM.
Kr,
John
In what way is a slow down different to a lag?
