Hi guys,
I have an Atrix Bell, with baseband N_01.26.00R, stock kernel and tegrapart=mbr00:100:800.
I tried flash some ICS, like epinter's and somebody's rom, but I got reboots with both using SD card, and noticed overheating and fast discharging. So, I got back to Gingerbread (Topsmarts) some weeks ago.
Then, I'd like to know what is actually the best ICS and JB roms, able to daily use.
Thanks!

Please use search next time. Threads like this are not allowed on XDA, and also this question has been asked and answered countless times. (In short, there is no such thing as a "best ROM").

Hey all,
First of all, sorry if this question has been asked and answered many times :s
I just got the notification for the Gingerbread 4.5.91 en.US, and was wondering its worth updating to normally, or going about some other way?
I'm currently running a stock Atrix (no rooting or anything) on 4.1.83.
What are the pros and cons in updating to the newer update (4.5.91 en.US) via motorola, compared to another way?
In future i would also like to mess around with my phone (side-loading apps, themes etc), so please take this into account.
Thanks to those who reply

hi guys...i'm currently using samsung galaxy ace but i'm planning of buying a s2 in the next few days...but before that i have a few questions to ask...
1)there's so many ics rom out there, which is the official ics rom?i'm so confused
2)which is the best ics rom for s2?the official ics rom,or the custom ics rom?and please give me the link
3)is the ics build stable...any bugs?
4)how is battery life of this phone?i use moderate gaming, calls, sms and some wifi...can it last for 2 days?
i hope u guys out there can answer to my questions...i'm a newbie here and i hope that i didnt cause any inconvinience in any way....thx
1) There are several 'official' ICS builds released
2) There is no such thing as the "best ICS rom for SGS2". You have your phone setup differently to everyone else, you use your phone differently to everyone else and your phone came out of the factory slightly differently to everyone else's.
A rom that runs well for me might not run well for you.
I suggest you go the development sections of the forum & read the first few pages and the the last 10-20 pages of the particular threads devoted to different roms. That way you will get an idea of the features/pluses/minuses of each rom, and also see other users' experiences with that rom.
Then you can test different roms for yourself to find one that works best for you.
3) Yes. All the non-stock ICS builds have bugs of one kind or another.
4) Too many variables determine battery life to say 'the battery life of the phone is good/bad/etc. As per 2), it's determined by how you use the phone, how you have it setup, whether you have constant good signal where you live/use the phone (poor signal means less battery life) and a whole lot of other things. Can it last for two days ? If I only used my phone for a couple of calls & a bunch of SMS per day with the phone in idle the rest of the time, I could probably get more than a week out of a charge. But it's a smartphone, and who uses it like that ?
Best ics rom = cyanogen mod9
if you want real ics

if i'm not mistaken cm9 is not the official samsung ics rom right?
No, CM9 is not Samsung based. It's AOSP based (search if you want/need to know what this means).
Don't buy this phone, devs runs away from it

Like with any other phone. Devs will develop, something else comes along and off they go, some Devs continue to develop.
Back on topic, try out an official ICS rom first, there are a few as they are for different regions bit any non Asian firmware will work on the international I9100.
Then have a read through the custom roms and decide what's best for you, no one can tell what's best for you its just a matter of trying.
You've got plenty of choices, stock Samsung rom, custom Samsung rom, AOSP, AOKP, CNA and Miui.

I would recommend you Wajk's WIUI! I've been using it now for about 1 month and im overwhelmed by the functionality and the smoothness of this rom! The only thing is that it is no clean ICS that you actually wanted, but it is definitley worth a try for you

ok...
i'm from malaysia(asian country) so which official ics rom will work for me?could u give me the link??thx alot!!!
Whatever phone you buy I am sure you will find a good ICS rom that works well for you. Whether that is a "stock" samsung rom, or a custom rom like CM9, that depends. But isn't half the fun of these phones the fact that you can chop and change and try different things?
I'm using HyDrOG3N-ICS 23.03 and it seems pretty kick ass. Granted it only came out 2 days ago so I haven't had a long time to test it But I might decide to change to a different rom again soon who knows? I suggest you take a look in the "Galaxy S II Android Development" forum and look for posts with [ROM] in the name. Read about them and choose one that sounds cool. If you try it and it's not cool, just try another one
I was in a similar situation a few days ago. I had never used a custom rom on my S2 but after Samsung ICS update disapointed me, i decided to find one. I've tried quite a few, somes would have apps that crash all the time etc, some wouldn't boot. I even managed to soft brick my phone.
I then found Ressurection Remix that came with Vertemus' Domination theme.. Installed 9.6. Was great and i loved it. Then 1.0 came out, so decided to give it a try. And i can say that the speed difference was major. More fluid. Only issue i now have is that the domination theme is wierd in the notification menu ( hard to explain ... the black is just too... black on the items. its just a minor anoyance )
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436854&page=1589
To conclude, i think there is no perfect mod. I was really happy with 9.6 but when i tried 1.0 i noticed that the other version had a few issues.
Hey everyone,
I rooted my vibrant about a year ago and never flashed any roms (just wanted to remove bloatware and such). I have been thinking of flashing an ICS rom, but have been put off by the thought of getting the EU bug. So my questions is, what is the probability of running into it? is it something that happens to just ~1% of those who try flashing ICS roms, or more like 50%?
If nobody has done a poll on this or has significant data, then what would be your answer from experience flashing these roms and reading forum posts?
Thanks in advance.

It's pretty low. I've flashed ICS 20+ times; never happened to me once.
It is completely random from my experience. But then again there obviously has to be something going on that triggers this bug. I would sure like to know what caused the EU bug in the first place but i have moved on unfortunately...as i now have a galaxy nexus. There have been recent reports from my guide that some victims of the bug have successfully managed to gain access to their internal memory by flashing certain roms. But as of now i cannot confirm those reports so there still is no "true" fix for the EU bug other than my guide.

Feel free to flash any ics rom just use extra caution (there is not much you can do as it is completely random) AND REMEMBER TO BACKUP YOUR DEVICE BEFORE DOING SO...just incase you get the bug. But keep in mind you will lose access to your internal memory as a result of this bug. It is a huge risk if you ask me...unless you don't mind losing your internal sd and using your external sd as your primary storage. Which is probably your only option at this point if you get the bug.

Hey peeps!
Ok, wifey not v happy with my doings lately..firstly, the CM10 is anything but stable for a daily driver. ICS too has hiccups like:
1. The browser FCs while going from landscape to portrait mode and vice versa
2. The internal SD card isn't seen, only the external is seen on file manager and root explorer
3. Calls dont connect sometimes
4. YouTube heats up the device a lot
5. If a few apps are running in the BG, the camera just won't start up
6. Random reboot
Phew...quite a lot...I either need a stable version of ICS/JB or please help me to go back to stock GB. Also, a stable GB ROM is fine...I don't want to lose my root/unlocked bootloader...
Is there a way out??
The catch is, I dont remember what ROM I flashed last, I mean, who is the dev...but I have a screenie that could help:
Thanx!
First of all: WRONG SECTION. PLEASE POST QUESTIONS IN THE Q&As!
Did you even read the first post of the thread of the ROM you flashed? I see you couldn't. (Never flash before you read....) There is NO perfectly stable, fully functional ICS ROM for the Atrix yet. The problems you mention are well known and posted in every thread regarding ICS.
Please take the time and look through the first 2 pages of the Atrix 4G Development Thread here on XDA and try to read before posting...

Thread moved to Q&A.
Assuming you know coming here you know all about this stuff, Its like coke and pepsi and sprite, dr pepper, your going to get tons of different opinions. One persons word is different to another, as one will work on one phone and the exact same thing will fail on another. Personally right now at this hour and second (again this can change in minutes) if you know what your doing and can handle issues. I recommend Th3Bill's CNA 340 (thread CNA 330 in Dev area) its JB and works very well.
Hi,
looking for a newer ROM which supports WEBTOP and maybe includes the Debian Webtop mode (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1093790).
Sorry, my Atrix was not used in the last half a year or so, so did not follow the Atrix development, but have to check what is possible currently
What is very important:
- finger print reader security
- webtop
- maybe a newer version of Firefox in Webtop?
Thanks for any hint
Apparently nottachtrix is very very good although it is now discontinued.
Also questions may be better answered in Q and A.

I would suggest a stable Motorola gingerbread based Atrix Rom with ubuntop.

Without a doubt go with nottachtrix, and flash 2.3.6 webtop from fruitcakes thread. From there you have a base for anything you want to do.

I have the same questions, would it be ok for me to install ubuntop without install the 2.3.6 fruitcake webtop? I just installed notachatrix. Thanks!
O.k. thanks for your feedback.
Notachtrix v1.30 I installed already some 3/4 year or more ago.
But unfortuntely it's not possible to use it as stable as expected.
I am not sure if it's only my phone (hardware issue or maybe only the carrier SIM?) or in general.
Mainly after moving to another carrier here in Germany the phone reboots different time every day (without specific reasons or circumstances), so the idea was to check the phone again with another ROM, so I have the confirmation the phone is working...
Just now after starting the phone while writing this post it reboots different times without having a SIM inserted
Maybe I have to reinstall and check with a complete vanilla phone again....
Want to use it as a second phone so, its not too important.
Best regards

Hi, strange, I never had that... Did you try different kernels, like Mmontuori or Faux123 ?
