1. No you do not need an external sd card.
do the following steps.
1. copy the rom you want to flash to your internal sdcard.
2. reboot into clockwordmod recovery
3. using the up and down volume keys scroll down :
to install a zip from sdcard.
power key to select.
4. scroll down to install zip from internal sdcard. select.
5. scroll to the rom that you have copied to your sdcard, select
6. choose yes and the rom will be flashed to your phone.
7. while flashing if it asks you for any selects makke them.
8. let the phone reboot and you are done.

I was using Vegan then decided to get gingerbread.
Issues
1. I downloaded the new ROM and placed it into the root and made sure it transfered then I powered down.
2. I did not get this option Using the volume keys to navigate up/down in the menu highlight "Apply Internal update.zip" if you copied the update.zip to the internal memory or "Apply External SDCard update.zip" . the only option I have is "apply sdcard:update.zip. Is the the correct on? When I select it and then do yes i get. ( no such file or directory)" Instalation aborted". So, then I go to install zip for sdcard, choose zip, and then yes. Then reboot and then it boots into stock. Tnt works
3. I then install CMW and it works.
4. I follow steps to install ROM form http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865245
5. after install i do not get “install zip from sdcard complete” my say " install form sd card complete. Does this matter
6. I did not have these problem when I orgicanlly put on Vegan, now I cants even get Vegan. It say Vegan is installed, then i reboot and stuck at 3 birds again.
I am having the same issue no matter what ROM I try.
PLEASE HELP, I AM ONLY ABLE TO USE THE STUPID STOCK AND IT IS POINTLESS TO HAVE A GTABLE TO USE STOCK
I have no idea whether this will help you or not, but when I booted up my tab last night it was stuck on the three birds. I had to boot into recovery and do wipe user data/factory reset to fix it.
I am not using cwm or vegan...so again, this may not help your situation.
im a newbie here and in android too. i have a rooted galaxy pocket and i tried to flash a custom rom. i forgot to take a backup of my stock rom.
i used the Clockwork mod recovery and i tried to flash repencisv3.5 . i wiped cache, data, and everything . but when i tried to find my custom rom , i forgot that i put it in my external sd card. (((((( the CWM cant access the exernal sd folder so im stuck ://// is there anything i could do to put a custom rom into the main root of sdcard so that i could flash it ??? or is there a procedure using CWM that i can use to open and load a custom rom inside my external sdcard ? what should i do ???? please help !!!!!

Method 3:
In this method we're using stock recovery to root our device.
Prerequisites:
1) SU Package
Link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/e2eh1pcju9s7zot/Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip
2) SU BIN
Link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/y4ser23fhay2nv4/su-bin-3.1.1-arm-signed (1).zip
Sources and thanks:
1) Thanks to XDA i've taken a lot of resources from XDA.
2) Thanks to me( kidding)
3) Thanks to developer of mobile uncle tools.
4) Thanks to micromax for a beautiful device.
5) Taken help from google.
How to Root:
1. Copy both the files to the root of your SD card. Now what is Root , root layer is the top most layer. That is just open the SD card and place it there itself do not place it inside a folder or sub folder.
2. Now again restart the phone to recovery mode by pressing Power Key + Volume UP + Volume Down Key.
3. You will see an Android icon with warning/error on the screen, press the power button.
4. You will see the recovery mode menus in the screen. Now this is tricky, to select any option from the screen you have to press two touch buttons simultaneously on your phone’s bottom, left one which is for the menu and right one which is for going to the previous screen. You have to keep pressing it for 5-6 seconds.
5. From the recovery screen select “wipe data/factory reset” and then “wipe cache partition”
6. Once it’s done, select “apply update from sd card” option and choose the file “Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip” from the SD card.
7. Repeat the above step and choose the file “su-bin-3.1.1-arm-signed.zip”.
Once you flash both the files select the option “reboot system now” from the recovery screen.
Verification:
Now you'll most probably see an app super user which almost confirms you've successfully rooted
but still if you have doubt download some app like root checker(free in playstore) to confirm whether you've successfully rooted or not.
Now how to install CWM recovery?
1) Place the CWM image in the root of your sd card. Now what is Root , root layer is the top most layer. That is just open the SD card and place it there itself do not place it inside a folder or sub folder only then mobile uncle tool can recognize it.
2) Install mobile uncle tools.
3) Open Mobile uncle tools and select the option Recovery update.
Now you'll see the file you placed in your sd card ,now click it and then click ok. Now it will ask "boot into recovery mode" click yes and now you are in CWM recovery!
Note: If you have connected to internet while doing this you may get loads of other options after clicking recovery update don't worry just click the one you placed in sd card. verify the name twice.

While moving the files windows shouldn't ask and if it asks then there is some problem here. Before doing this procedure were you already rooted?
Have you placed it in the root? If so then try pasting it in the internal sd and the external sd( one of them should definitely be recognized).
Good Morning,
i want to install the Custom Rom Andread 3.2 on my Alcatel OT918d.
I have 2 questions:
How can i install the firmwarepackage? With CWM? When yes, is CWM preinstalled on the device? I read the whole thread, but i don't find extended installation information.
1) microsd must be partition before installation (first partition primary FAT32, second partition primary EXT2)

Place the downloaded zip file in sd and goto cwm thete is an option to flash zip file check that and select the downloaded file
And about the partition it is for using the int2ext script for increasing your internel memory so you can select any size preferable is 1gb as you are not going to install as much apps
Do you??

First of all you need a rooted phone. That's the absolute pre-requisite: If you don't know how to just google "how to root [phone name]". There are loads of tools that make this quite easy.
When you have root access you can simply download and install Clockwork Recovery (which is NOT pre-installed) and [optional] Rom Manager.
When you have CWM installed, just boot into recovery mode and choose "install zip from SD card" after wiping cache/dalvik cache and a factory reset.
Don't forget to backup you data!
Hi everybody ,
I need your help to install Cyanogenmod 10.1.3 on my s2 i9100 , now i'm on ics 4.0.3 official .
Read the install instructions on the first page of the thread, follow the instructions. It's not exactly rocket surgery.

The method for rooting and flashing CWM
1) Download Odin (http://androidfirmwares.net/Tools)
2) Download root kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1103399)
-- just scroll down and search for ur version (settings>about phone>basis version)
3) Flash it via Odin
-- Extract .zip
-- load the root kernel in Odin (as PDA)
-- Put SGSII in download mode (Vol-, Home and Powerbutton)
-- Press "Start"
4) Phone should reboot by itself
5) Turn it off, then start phone in recovery mode (Vol+, Home and Powerbutton)
6) Check if u have enough space for backup on sd card (to be sure: 2GB)
7) Go to:
-- Backup and restore
-- Backup to internal sd card (for sure u can choose external if have and want it there)
-- confirm it and then let do the phone the backup (can take a while [5-20 min])
method to flash rom
1) Download Rom
2) Put it on internal sd card
3) Go into recovery mode (see above)
4) DO A FULL WIPE!! (U won't loose ur backup on sd card [but u can copy it to PC, too, if u want])
-- wipe data/ factory reset
-- wipe cahe partition
-- advanced > wipe dalvik cache
-- mount and storage > format data/system/cache
5) Then flash Rom via recovery
-- install .zip from sd card > choose .zip from sd card
-- Select the downloaded Custom Rom and flash it
6) Reboot and u r done!
hope this helps
