Hi all
Thanks to an outdated link on some external website I updated my ROM with an older v4 raphael - and now I'm stuck at this "This concludes the beta test of this software release" screen.
I CANNOT get into bootloader either
I dont want to throw this phone away now !!!
I'd be eternally grateful to someone...ANYONE who can get me back into working mode ..
PLEASE HELP. I've been searching these forums for 20+ hours now without sleep - and found nothing to help me get the phone back to working state.
Try taking out the battery, SIM & SD card. Wiat a minute or so and put only the battery back in.
SIMULTANEOUSLY press volume down, center button and soft reset. CONTINUE to hold volume down and center button. You should get to the tri-color bootloader screen. If you do, you will be fine, just flash a new ROM from SD. If not...
BTW did you Hard SPL?
Doug M.
I just tried that
It comes back to the normal windows mobile screen (like it would if i did soft reset). I did run the hardSPL before doing this - and I did see the tricolor screen before i updated this ROM
I just cant figure out how to get to the tricolor

also make sure you press UP on the volume control this will hard rest you. You should be able to let it run and it will get to the calibration screen. Once there run a new ROM wrapper.exe and all should be ok. Had similar issues like this don't panic.
Ive tried every combination of button pressing.... it just resets back to the OS screen
Humour me for a moment ...
Pull out the battery, pull out the SIM, and pull out your SD Card if you have.
Put the battery back in and only hold the Volume Down button. Keep holding Volume Down and turn on the device.
If all is well, you should see the TriColor Bootloader screen with USB in the bottom white area. If so, connect you're USB cable to your pc & device.
Flash the HTC Stock ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=478657) for now just to get the device up and running.
Let me know how you make out.
Cheers,
Now that the real tech studs are here you are in good hands. Just try what they recommend exactly. This is an unforgiving process. You really need to do it precisely as recommended.
It definitely sounds like this is fixable. Once you get this fixed, keep flashing.
Best of luck.
Doug M.
Thanks everyone !!
I have managed to unbrick it, reflash it and upgrade to RC4 and have it working !!
I love this community
I'd get this answer to the FAQ
Everyone who tried to flash a ROM for the first time has been terrified from this exact consequence...
hilaireg, I'm feeling much more comfortable now, knowing you are part of this helpful and amazing forum.
Thank god you are happy, otherwise if I see someone stuck with this process it hurts me more than anyone else. Always do ROM upgrade as shown by MSKIP in the sticky thread for beginners. Cheers.
Glad it helped ... if it was my suggestion that got the OP going.
sakshamkatyal is correct, mskip did a fantastic job at documenting the process and what I suggested ultimately does come from that article.
In this situation, the important lesson to learn is not the recovery; it is to always research and read up on a ROM one is planning to use so as to ensure that it is a) the most current, b) from a trusted source, and c) supported on an ongoing basis by the chef who prepared it.
Cheers,
Hi, I was trying to flash my ROM with SSPL and a cooked ROM and now my HD2 is bricked. When I turn it on, the white HTC screen comes up and nothing more happens (except the back gets warm). I'm assuming that the little "void" thing below the battery area means that any warranty is void or something.
Can anyone help? Nothing I can do to it will make anything happen. Thanks all!
SSPL? Aren't you supposed to use the HSPL?

As far as I know the "void" thing below the battery is correctly in place. If it was missing - then your warranty would be void.
I would put your phone into bootloader and flash a stock rom.
If you have a european phone check this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
If you have USA phone check here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653614
Your phone is not bricked, you should be able to reflash back to a stock rom. To flash a custom rom you should use Hard-SPL, if you do this make sure you pay close attention to the directions, because a long time ago I bricked my wizard because I didn't pay attention to details
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=606713
And if you have T-Mobile USA 1024 version:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6004691
Fixed my Aussie T9193
Hi, thanks all for the responses, I've gotten it working! I didn't know about getting the phone into bootloader mode FIRST, then doing the installations. BIG help, thanks to the collective wisdom!!

I bricked my phone after using "Task 29"... PLEASE HELP!
I just used "Task 29", my phone is stuck on the home screen and will not do anything else. I keep holding down the volume buttons and inserting a USB cord to see if it will sync to my computer so I can upload another ROM, but as soon as the multi colored screen comes up, it quickly changes to a white screen telling me to either press the vol button up for a reset or another key to escape it. If I press up it goes right back to the boot up screen and does the same if I press any other button. Is there anyone who could help me.... PLEASEEEE!!!!

Hi guys.
i installed Launcher Pro Plus 0.8.5 for Galaxy S by mistake on my Galaxy Ace.
First the phone was laggy about 5 seconds, then rebooted itself and i'm a stuck at "samsung" screen. Phone just vibrates, but won't boot. I removed battery a tried to start it again, same issue....passes boot animation, but then bootloops.
could anyone help me please?
the phone is 2 days old from orange store.
This is pretty critical, i need to get it working till sunday.
But i don't want to lose warranty. I can enter download mode atm.
Could anyone please help me?
how do i remove that app from my phone, when cannot boot?
i tried to search samfirmware, that i would ODIN stock rom, but i don't know my PDA key - i cannot select the best PDA key.
I am from Slovakia, phone bought in slovakian store, if anyone could give me correct PDA.
thank you guys
Wait.. Isn't LauncherPro an universal app? I mean how could you say its SGS specific when anybody with different phones can download it from the same place?
That aside, since the download mode are OK, you can just try to re-flash your current ROM.
The warranty will be void only if you root it or put different ROM into your phone.
If this helped you, would you mind pressing that lil thanks button below?
Why Dont you try entering in recovery mode and do a wipe data/factory reset to enter recovery press home key + pwr on key, you mevo trough options with volume keys and select wit home button jus select wipe data/factory reset
i just wiped data..i was trying volume up + home key + power button, like on SGS.
well with that launcher pro....i guess it will be other version for ace...sure you can download it from market, but i think it's some different build or something.
anyways, wiping data/factory reset solved this issue for me..
thank you guys!
i personaly would root the phone in first 30 minutes i get it, install some cool custom rom and enjoy the power of the phone, like i did on SGS, but it is my GFs phone..she almost killed me when this happened
wipe is more than enough to reset. and i can't help myself stop thinking people on xda abuse all this flashing thing - it's everybody's solution for every problem - RE-flash. NO NEED to reflash if you haven't rooted/flashed your phone before - flashing just voids your warranty in this case. and it ain't only topic affected...
sorry for being picky, but i'm in exactly same shoes here - i've been doing whatever with my SGS, but my missus's ACE is no go (until good rom comes ) - so i can imagine being given advise to flash, because i got bootloop... bit silly...
some sort of noobs guide/tutorial topic from OP/someone respected e.g. devs regarding whole flashing idea would be beneficial for many, many people. it's my opinion only. thanks
Hi all,
I installed a kernel on my phone so that I was able to Root my device.
My phone was booting up and I saw the yellow explenation mark underneath the the Samsung Galaxy S II logo.
There's only one issue, my phone won't start, it freezes at the boot logo and won't do a thing :/
How can I fix this?
It freezes or is it in a bootloop?
If you got into bootloop, check out this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1108499

It won't enter in Recovery mode,
When i hold down home, power, and volume UP the bootup-logo (Samsung galaxy S II ''With Explenation mark) shows up, than dissapears for 1 second than shows itself again and it's just freezes like it did before.
Now I never heard about a Boot Loop but this looks very disturbing.
I need some help with this.
Jeezus Christ, you joined today and already posted in the wrong section, didn't bother to read or search. So on that note I HOPE your device is Bricked just to serve you a purpose of reading before hand.
However since you are unable to read or search, we will treat you like a child. Your device is not bricked. Turn it off, take out battery, unplug from computer. Put back in battery and press volume DOWN, power and home until you get into download mode. Then plug into computer, start odin and either reflash the kernel in PDA box, or flash a stock rom.
Now this is been covered numerous times, so I will ask again to read next time before you post a question that has been answered 10000x times over.
Also if you would have read anything at all, you would know that you will get the yellow triangle when flashing any kernel but a stock on. There is a way to get rid of it, but that requires searching and reading. Something you know nothing about.

At first I would like for you to tone it down a little bit, I searched down the whole Internet, I just didn't now under what name I had to search.
Since I don't know the name of this particular issue, I couldn't find it on this website nor on the Internet (wich is obvious). So I started a treath to release my question.
Before claiming and occusing me of something, aks me the questions first.
You're judging a book by it's cover and your arrogance blind you.
But i'm not here to occuse people of something or giving them names etc, I'm here for some serious bussines.
Now...
I saw your answer (possible solution) and I wan't to thank you for this, I will give this a try and keep this treath updated.

You are wrong... step 2 says: Hold down home, power, and volume UP. This will enter recovery mode. If you are using CF-Root, you'll get CWM recovery. If not, you get stock recovery. It doesn't matter which appears.

No it won't go in Recovery mode unfortunately.
I think my phone is bricked as I noticed the ''Phone...!...Computer'' logo when I tried to start it up.
Can happen, now It's just the challenge to find the solution.
Perhaps I should go to the store and tell them if they can help recover it.
If you got any suggestion what I should do it would be wel used.
In the mean time I will earch on the Internet and the forums how to unbrick the phone by myself.
Note - I still can enter Download Mode.

Did you have a custom rom installed before you ended like this?
Did you even try DOWNLOAD MODE? You dont not need recovery. You need download to flash the kernel again or a stock rom.
VOLUME DOWN, HOME, POWER until you see the "downloading, do not turn off"
Then connect to odin and reflash the kernel in PDA

No,
It all happened after I installed a costum-kernel (The one that I need in order to root my phone) I followed the instuructions of a Youtube webpage.
I did root my phone before to try it out and it worked smoothly.
After I realised that I could so much once a SuperUser i wan't it to Root my phone again but it all went wrong when my phone was rebooting after I installed the costum-kernel.
I went into Download mode, I tried to install the latest firmware on my phone, yet it failed to do so, so i plugged out my phone, shut it off, turned it on and all of a sudden I saw the *Phone...!...Computer* logo wich (if i am correct) stands for a (Soft)brick.
I re-installed the costum-kernel and the Brick-Logo isn't visible anymore, but I'm back at the previous problem, The Samsung Boot Logo with Explenation Mark freeze issue.
Once I entered Download mode I noticed that Costum Binary Download is set to (Count 5).
I need a good tutorial how to fix this, I'm quite new with the Android (half a week)
Help is well appreciated.
OK title says it all, and yes I have been reading for the last 3hrs, all the possible solutions.
HD2 EU Vodafone UK
So here is what I have tried:-
Task 29 + flash stock rom - stuck -
Hard reset - stuck
remove HSPL - stuck
flash latest Vodafone rom from HTC 3.14.161.3 - stuck - also SPL now 3.03
flash old stock to downgrade SPL to 1.66 - stuck
Have also tried reinstalling MAGLDR - stuck - magldr doesn't even show.
I never get flash failed, and yet it will not get past the Tri coloured bootloader.
Also I cannot get it to flash from SD. I have tried holding the endcall and vol down but it just goes to the loader.
Vol Up and endcall goes to hard reset.
And, to make it worse, it's not even mine. I was returning it to Winmo for a mate.
Phones been running Android nand since March without problems.
All suggestions welcome.

that would indicate a stuck volume down button, since hard reset is volup and voldown. (You dont need to hold power, tap and release it, its teh vol buttons you hold)
You are quite right about the vol up and down for reset.
Also, I had been considering the possibility of a stuck button.
I will see if i can prove or disprove it.
Thanks for the response.
Does anybody know how many buttons are in the volume control rocker?
Is it:-
1 for down volume
1 for up volume
and another for both when you hold both in?
I am still trying to decide if the down volume button is stuck on.
When I hold both down I can get into reset mode, but if I only press the up it still goes to tri colour.
So I am still not sure if the down is stuck on.
3 buttons in the rocker could explain why up only doesn't go to reset but 2 buttons only would confirm that the down is not stuck on.
All comments welcome
two, you can feel them click on individually when you press them.
I too can only feel 2 and that would imply that the down is not stuck.
When I hold the up button and switch on it goes to boot loader, if it was stuck shouldn't the phone have gone to reset?
I was hoping it was like a mouse wheel with forwards, backwards and click down which is 3 positions.
I'm running out of things to try.
If it's not stuck why does it keep going to bootloader with out being asked?
Why can I flash roms and HSPL without any failure messages but still find no change on reboot?
Thanks for the replies and please keep them comming
I have managed to flash from SD. I tried a different card.
I have attached a pic of the screen saying update complete, update success.
But still stuck in bootloader
well, if it isnt hardware, it must be a corrupted bootloader issue, or bad nand blocks perhaps. ive seen quite a few 'only enters bootoader' threads over the yrs, but never really noticed a solution.
sorry, no suggestions, other than perhaps give teh freezer trick a go?
I'm desperate enough to try almost anything.
I will have to read up on the freezer trick.( don't want to kill it completely)
I have also contacted a couple of repairers for a quote using Jtag. the first said "sorry bricked" and I'm still waiting for the second reply.
Also reading up on Goldcards, maybe that's another option?
Thanks again for the reply.

could be tho unlikely (sorry) goldcard flashing is just sd flashing but bypasses carrier and region checks.
if you can get the serial of your sd card, i can make you a goldcard image, no problem. (Don't bother using the free goldcard page on revskills website, its for android and wp7 phones) . PM me the serial and an email address if you want one.
@samsamuel Thanks for all your help and advice.
I have sent it off for repair today.
As I said in the first post, it's not even mine I was re flashing winmo 6.5 so my mate could sell it.
Hopefully it will be all sorted now.
Update.
I contacted 3 repairers.
1st said "sorry dead"
2nd said "£40 + postage"
3rd said "£21 which became £29 all in"
So I sent it to 3rd one, got a quick reply "sorry unable to fix, here is a full refund" and they returned it via 1st class post.
So yesterday I've got the phone in my hands, poped in the battery and I am presented on screen with a triangle and the words "flash failed please try again"
So task 29, now back with a tricoloured screen. See attached.
Now tried a custom Winmo, and it works
So I tried 2 Vodafone and 1 O2 stock roms and they all failed at 9%.
Tried another custom Winmo, and again working
So finally, I have task 29, CLK, clockwork v5 and latest MIUI. All working just fine.
Is there a stock looking custom winmo that anybody can recommend?
Hah, a lucky outcome. The radio is stuck, hence stock roms failing, but lucky for you its still a working radio, so customs are working. About the best result you could get, considering.
I'd say try the Artemis rom, but that will require spl 3.03.hspl, and occasionally the stuck radio issue messes with changing spl,,
Not so sure about your stuck radio theory, I have been able to change the radio without an issue.
I will give Artemis rom a go.
thanks for all the support.
Merry Christmas
