just can't get a reliable Rom - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

please, somebody please help me get a useable phone again. I'm not sure if it's how I'm flashing, the roms I'm using, or if it's just what I have to deal with. things have sucked ever since the first jb Rom I've tried.
I've had the awful non-responsive home button issue across all roms. constant random reboots, and fcs constantly. messaging, email, system ui.. everything. battery barely gets me through work. a phone should not work like this, and this stuff didn't used to happen with ics.
I'm using twrp2 and I've tried many cm10 releases, PA, liquid smooth. some work well for a few hours, none of them have been good.
please help if you can.

Jellybean or ICS?
Sent from one bad ass, highly modified, Samsung Galaxy Note running Novena A3 using the BEST in mobile apps, XDA-Developers!

I've run several very good, stable ROMs. ICS: BlackStarVII, VIII, IX and X.
JB: Eclipse 2.0 and currently running CM10 Stable.
All of these run flawlessly for me. I flashed all with CMW.

There are plenty of stable roms out there. BlackStarX Is very stable. It is stock with the ability to tweak and customize. you would need to give more details of how your installing
swyped on my huge phone

For the home button issue, if you flash one of the "alternate" kernel's, it fix's the home button issue (or at least, it did for me).
As for a rom, I use FJ's JethroBubba w/o issue, have had 200hrs~ uptime on my phone and would have had longer if I wasnt such a flash-o-hollic and flashed the updates for it nearly the next day...
Its not for everyone, but its solid as a rock for me.

I am so ****ing fed up with this phone. please someone help me out... after loving it for months I'm so close to selling it. just problem after problem on any Rom I try. right now I can't even use my phone to make calls. it rings on the other end but there is silence on my end. I tried clearing phone data in apps, tried fixing permissions, rebooting several times. I've had this issue on each Rom on and off. right now on cm10.. forget the exact nightly but I think the one after stable.
I just don't understand. it has to be something I'm doing or not doing since everyone else is having luck getting reliability. could using cwm instead of twrp somehow make for a more reliable flash? what else could I possibly try? maybe someone could list exact steps of how they're flashing, and what they're using to do so. I would be so grateful.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app

are you flashing them correctly?
Wipe data/cache/dalvik

using twrp2.. I factory reset, wipe data/cash, and dalvik. flash Rom. flash gapps. fix permissions. boot. it seems sometimes the Rom auto restores my apps. if not I restore apps with tibu.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app

Your not restoring the data for apps on tibu are up? And jellybean for the note is a wip we do not have an official kernel source so its gonna be wonky sometimes. Some ROMs are better than others but they all fail every now and then jellybean ones anyways. Have u tried novena? Its a very nice and fast ICS ROM.
Family alliance

maybe I'll try going back to ics. disappointing since jb had some nice features. I've tried restoring just apps and apps plus data. but I've also flashed roms where I didn't need tibu and still same issues. but so many people are claiming reliability on these jb roms. not sure if mine is different or they just have lower expectations

Deep Breath....then pause, and think about this for a minute...
It is "VERY" likely that your problems are user related...(not to sound mean or insulting, because I do "NOT" intend to be..) But...
Roms coming to us are for the most part...clean. A factory build with mild tweaks, and certainly stable for every day use.
The problems come when users dont "clean" the device properly on a fresh flash, or they restore bits of previous rom data from non-compatible builds.
Now I make screw up's too, after nearly 10 years of android hacking. I'll forget a wipe function, or restore an app with TIBU that should "NOT" get put back without a clean app install.
Long story short, the roms here are solid in the ICS realm, and are very good in the JB side too....
I suggest Blackstar as a top pick, also the UCLF6 ICS build #5 from flappjaxxx....
Both are rock solid, and if you exhibit any problems beyond the normal android hickups, then it is likely a user/device issue, and not the rom itself....g

To follow Sarge, try a clean install of all apps from the market. Its a pain to reenter data, etc. but it sounds like you're already in pain.

Its really not that difficult. I will agree that some roms are more stable than others. Most of the JB roms do have some random issues. Here is the thing though. When you start flashing custom roms, you need to accept that you might encounter minor issues. If you are not willing to live with those issues or find work arounds, then you need to flash back to stock and be happy.
Keep in mind that devs have source code to work with ICS roms. Since Samsung hasn't dropped JellyBean source for this device, the current builds are all based on the google opensource code, without many of the device specific drivers.
Others have mentioned and I agree 100%, reinstall all of your user apps out of the play store. I don't trust any of the app backups from TiBU or any other tool. I also do a complete wipe and format everything between roms. You have to have some level of patience to dabble in the custom rom world, and it sounds like you might be missing that. See what you got after an initial install, don't overclock or change any performance settings...Install just the basic apps, from the play store and see how things work for a day or so. If things seem smooth, then add some more apps. Many people try and do too much at one time, which make isolating the problem nearly impossible.

ok, right now I'm on novena... I really hate ics after using jb, but it appears to be quite good so far at least. been on it for a few days and not really any issues. this time I also installed using cwm instead of twrp. apps were restored automatically with play store. sometimes that doesn't happen.. is there any way to install through play store if it doesn't do it automatically?

I went back to gb. That leak was real bad. Lots of freezing and little issues. Don't say its my device, because i have 2 and both had a lot of the same little issues. The only thing i miss is mms pics being zoomable.

I can 3rd this. Its running with zero problems on my device, both A1 and A2 of DaGr8's ROM. It could have been the method you used to flash the ROM, or some of the programs you possibly backed up, but for me i have had zero reboots, only one FC on Touchwiz which i don't use anymore, and no other glitches.
i switched back to GB too, ICS was almost perfect, only Navigon and tether not working (unless paying $50 to ATT).
I miss ICS, fell much smoother than GB, will switch back when we have more steady ROM.
I'm using Alpha II on both mine and my wife's - no issues. As for the keyboard, I'm using the latest Swiftkey 3 Tablet beta.
Out of the number of already active threads on the subject you needed your own?

I notice the occasional hitch for a few minutes after a restart of the phone but after that everything is fine, though i cant seem to get samsung apps working and lost compatibility with a few apps that don't work even when sideloaded. Gonna stick it out till the final build is ready though.

I didnt install any backups. I have all the apk's and use appmonster to install them all.
in mms the send and attach buttons where switched and my wife *****ed cause she kept hitting the attach button when she was trying to send.
I dont want a custom rom. If the self installing exe leak rom might be the problem, what other way can it be flashed? Only other thing i did was flash recovery and install SU
If you're having problems most people would say install fresh and DO NOT use a program to restore apps, download them one by one thru the app store.

yeah no kidding. I just said i install all my apps from apk's. Appmoster only starts the apk install one after another. it doesnt install them for you and its not backups.... its apk's
Another thing was the appliction monitor was always turning red just from having something as simple as web browser openned. The memory management seemed to be horable.
Im trying to locate another way to install, maybe odin or something.
It's too bad your against trying any custom roms. For one they get rid of all that at&t stuff you possibly never use; By doing that extra memory is freed up in the process. I didn't have that many issues when I flashed the self installing leak, but I decided to go with DAGR8's Alpha 2, it's faster than the stock leak was. Every time I re-flash a phone, I re-install everything from market, I don't backup anything. It doesn't take that long to type in my user / password and have everything synced back from the market anyway.

I give up.... no more flashing for me

*begin rant* I give up. I'm tired of flashing different roms everytime just to have a stable device. I've tried all the ics roms for our device, but all seem to have their different issues to deal with. I'm now going to stick to rooted stock gb, for I feel that it meets my needs ,though its slow as hell. Imma wait for the official ics update, hopefully that is stable enough with no issues. The leaks have terrible battery life.
On another note, pun intended, if the whole T-Mobile modem situation doesnt work out, looks like imma sell this bad boy. I love the size and the screen, but I value stability. Maybe I'll wait for cm9 to come out alongside the official kernel. If that doesn't help, bye bye g note.
Anyone else feel like this? Imma try out saurom in the mean time, tho I'm in love with ics.

I felt the same way until I tried flapjaxx base ics. Its very stable compared to the others I've tried.
I really think it is an app causing your issues, or the way you are restoring them. The latest ICS leak is rock solid for me, not a single FC after weeks of use, and insane battery life. Off the charger for 14 hours and at 68% right now.
Try going to a solid no frill ROM (might I suggest the one by Flappjaxx). Set the CPU to use the FJ settings. Then just try a basic setup for a while. Don't go crazy with the apps, just configure mail and whatnot, see how everything goes for a day or two.
Do yourself a favor and down load this rom, i have been using for about 2weeks and its more stable than GB.

Flashing aint for everyone. So, if you can't take it then leave, I guess. I don't know what you're whining about. I have had several fast, stable ROMs on my Note. I am currently using Flapjaxxx IMM. (By the way, the link above me is for a rip off of Flapjaxxx ROM so yes, it works.) As already stated, your issues may very well be your own cause. Depending on how you flash and restore your data you may be messing it up yourself. One last thing. You have no right to feel so entitled. These ROMs, and XDA as a whole, is experimental and FREE. So stop whining.
Before giving up try FlapJaxx, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1664980
I agree with the others. Try flashing Flapjaxx's ROM and installing your apps again manually instead of using Tibu. Most likely something app related, because most of the roms are stable as hell for most people.

My problem isn't exactly the roms; its the idea that I need to flash in order to have a stable/fast device. I've been lurking here since the old winmo days. First device was a T-mobile mda, and now i'm here with the note. I'm very grateful for the community, for obvious reasons. I'm getting old lol, and no time to keep flashing and experimenting. I tried the hyfer, clean install n everything... touchwiz kept crashing. I tried flapp's rom, kept fc'ing whenever i used cut/copy/paste. numerous other small issues. its the little things. I'm not complaining. I'm just deciding to stick to stock lol. So far my flash counter is up to 16. I keep odin'ing back to stock.

It's unfortunate that you are having these issues. I'm running the latest unofficial CM9 and it's solid with everything I use (don't use spen) . I haven't had an fc yet.
I'm at 31% after 15 hours off charger. 2 hours of screen time and 40 minutes of phone time as well as some steaming music through my Bluetooth, headset.
I will say that I'm very anxious for Samsung to release the official ICS so we can get an overclock kernel.

Thanks guys for the response. Actually, I think something might be wrong with the device. Even after odin'ing back to stock, i'm still greeted by fc's. Perhaps i'm using the wrong odin file? Like i just flashed saurom, and still problems galore. i'll keep you updated.

I too have decided to stay with Gingrrbread and have not even been tempted to try any of the ICS roms. I am a grown up and I have the patience to wait for the official ICS and the kernel source to be released. I never get caught up in leaks cause they are a hassle. I am on Gingerbread and everything works as it should as opposed to a buggy ICS rom thats been rigged to sorta work. If anyone uses a rom that has more than two things that simply don't work they are wasting their time and I know of at least 10 things that don't work on any of the ICS roms we have available. To each his own though. I am sure the roms will be excellent as soon as the official ICS and source are released so I don't care to wait. I have been using the same rom for three months and I doubt any of the ICS roms can touch it in any way. Try Solaris Prime A New Hope rom you won't be disappointed.

I don't think there's that much broke with the ICS roms. On Flapjaxx's ROM the only thing broke afaik is MHL out, which I don't use, so to me, the ROM is fully functional. Plus, since it's ICS, I also have the premium suite and SVoice, which is even more capability than any GB ROM. Don't get me wrong, I loved Solaris Prime when I used to run it, but once ICS leaked, there was no turning back. I guess the only other thing I can't do is overclock, which doesn't matter to me anyways, as ICS is already smoother than Solaris Prime was overclocked.

Not to be rude but if you can't appreciate the work thats done by the community then you shouldn't be here. Every dev provides disclaimers (which most people don't bother to read I guess), and they do so because they don't want to deal with people whining. I do a lot of free work for people and there is nothing more disheartening than someone moaning and whining that the free help/work I'd done was not enough, when in reality the same amount of effort would've cost them $200+ dollars without the personal touches.
Blame Samsung, they haven't officially released ICS for this device. You come in here and start badmouthing ICS roms, which were produced by the effort of devs, who ask us for our input, then have to wade through the innumerable useless posts and weed out the genuine feedback they need to improve the user experience for us.
/end rant.
I wouldn't really rant about it on XDA, but from what I read in the various ROM threads the OP isn't far off. The ROMs are generally good, EXCEPT for X, Y, Z, oh this doesn't work, and there's a bug there, etc.
I often see a lot of this is due to people trying silly DPI numbers, and that's just self-inflicted problems... Unfortunately a lot of that gets attributed to ROM problems when it should not be, and in fact at least one ROM thread has very clear if you're NOT running 320, don't report bugs.
Personally, stock rooted GB is working great and I'll keep using it until I see an ICS ROM that doesn't have as many caveats as I see in various threads. Some of these might be feature-over-function problems (adding too much random stuff into a ROM) but I'd say a lot of it is due to kernel and ICS Source. Hopefully the latter is less a problem as it was a month ago or so, but the kernel of course is still outstanding.
I do my fair share of tinkering on secondary devices and tablets, but my Note is my primary phone, so I don't mess with it.
Let's face it, there are a lot of people who don't want to tinker, they just want to put a ROM on their phone. That's the XDA atmosphere of today. IMO those people should not flash random ROMs on their phone.
Flapjaxx ICS rom is excellent .
Guaranteed my stock build was worse. And battery was horrible on stock. Rooted or not that bloated 2.3.6 stock rom wasted my time.
If ya don't like bugs ....wipe data /factory reset and put the phone down.
They "all " have bugs.
At least our batteries don't melt like an isheep phone ..LOL ....g
You should try objections ucle2 #2 RC1 its really fast and stable. I know what you mean it gets old having to be flashing every other day but what can you do. Its the only way to keep up with the software.

[Q] Question about two specific ROMs

I'm a little late to the game. I've been running AOSP GB for a while and just decided to flash an ICS ROM yesterday. The kernel I have is imoseyen's leankernel.
I flashed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1879151 Liquid Smooth ICS.
It seems to be working fine but i have one qualm about it. The touch screen doesn't seem to flow as naturally as it did when I had GB. It seems to be more sticky. Is anyone else having trouble with this?
Also Navigation seems to be dumbed down as it doesn't say street names anymore. Not a big deal but I'm confused at how the UI of specific apps has changed in the upgrade when it is still the same app.
My other question is in regards to this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2122886 ICY-S by MaceksMod
I'm thinking about moving over to this ROM if the stickiness isn't resolved.
However, What is the kernel used for this ROM? I'm pretty sure it's AOSP but I kept seeing mentions of Sense & Team BAMF (who uses Sense).
Glad to see there are still devs for this phone!
You cant use a gingerbread kernel with an ics ROM. Just use the kernel that comes with the ROM.

Not to say anything bad about MaceksMod's mod but it is very new, may need time to mature. If you like Liquid's ICS try Twisted Umbrella, its essentially the same thing with more updates/fixes whatever. And yes the screen scrolling is fixed on that one.

Where can I find an ICS kernel for the Thunderbolt? What type of file is the kernel in the ROM package? Is it typically the boot.img? Does every ROM downloaded have a kernel that is attached to it?
There aren't any custom kernels yet,I do believe twisted has been working on one for his Rom. Kernels are usually baked into the Roms

There aren't any aftermarket ICS kernels for the thunderbolt yet because we don't have the source code to build them yet. Yes the boot.img does contain the kernel and all Roms have to have a kernel or they will not boot.

I've been using TwistedUmbrella's ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2056575 for a little over 24 hours now. I like it but random apps keep on crashing and rebooting the phone.
Some examples include: making a phone call, ruzzle, facebook, gmail, quickpic, etc. I'm not sure if these are app specific but some of the freeze-reboots happen when executing a command such as deleting pictures and entering a username/password.
I don't really know where to start troubleshooting this or if this is just a ROM instability. My install procedure was wipe cache, wipe dalvik, flash the kernel that was supplied in the thread (baseKernel-184Mhz_01-14-2013_22.55.zip), flash the ROM, and reboot. Earlier today, I decided to wipe the cache and dalvik again to see what would happen. The ROM does seem to run a little better but I am still experiencing the random reboots.
Have you guys experienced this? Is there a fix to this?

Earlier today, I decided to wipe the cache and dalvik again to see what would happen. The ROM does seem to run a little better but I am still experiencing the random reboots.
Have you guys experienced this? Is there a fix to this?

I have heard of this and I have heard santod suggest that the ramdisk may need some tweaking. Probably won't get fixed anytime soon but what do I know.

I guess I can hold out til a fix is released. It is annoying but I have to say it boots up pretty fast.
Yea most aosp Roms will because they have such a small footprint. Try unsense on infectedrom.com. Its a heavily desensed rom that is so close to aosp you won't be able to tell a difference and it has a working camcorder too.

Maceksmod icy-s
I am running this mod and it seems very smooth... took 2 minutes for my SMS to backup using SMS Backup and Restore, taking it about 18 hours to restore them though (ugh... gotta be a better way to move SMS messages from one ROM to another!!!)... anyway, what I am wondering is... it looks like the icy-s camera app is going to work fine for front facing camera and recording video, but how do you make Google+ use that camera instead of the stock one in order to use google hangout???
:crying::crying::crying:
Update?
I am currently running Beta 8.5 RC4... It is running pretty well except radio doesn't seem to be a solid as the old .19, and the camera is flakey with google hangouts. I see there is a 9.5 now... can I do a dirty flash to update? Does it have an updated radio??
Thanks

Cant Find a Stable Rom

Cant Seem to find a stable rom for my Rogers Galaxy Note, keep getting force crashes, yellow screens followed by reboots, and copying music over is really slow.
tried numerous roms, most 4.1.2 & 4.2.2 and they all seem to have the same problems
Noob, so please be gentle...

Honestly, I am lost. Tried everything and just nothing really works.
Same Rogers Note. And exactly those yellow screen crashes!
4.0.4 - zero crashes but it's just so boring.
4.1.2 - up to 3 crashes a day then using phone and around 3 more then not using!
4.2.2 - less crashes that's for sure and almost every crash happened during the call or after I was finished talking and hung up. Though not a single Voip app (tango, Viber) works. There is simple no sound using those. So I can't use it.
I went from having 251 apps to 82. From 12 root access requiring apps to 4. Every flash of the new ROM was with wiping absolutely everything (system, cache, android.secure, dalvik, interal card). Tried different kernels and modems. Nothing. Still crashing.
So after two weeks of complete failure I am downloading this stock ROM again. That's the only thing what works without crashing plenty of times.
You could try unrooting, reverting to stock, and then re-rooting again. I've heard that work for a few people

Funny how there are always a few people who have weird phones and for some reason have insane problems.

Agreed, but the JB ports do have all the issues OP mentioned.
All silicon is not created equal.
never use transfer to sd while phone is on, always slow.
either use airdroid if you have decent wifi or reboot to recovery and mount to pc to transfer files
both those options should solve your slowness while phone is on transferring
kernel crash's will happen there is no way around that until samsung stops updating midrange phones and gives us jb and its source.
as its well known we are using ICS stuff in our kernel which clearly is not 100% capable but still has us 95% jb stable.
Stable Rom
im using padawan8 rom which is ICS rom... its running smooth! but i got bored and i flashed to paranoidkangdroid which is 4.2.2.. and havent experienced any reboots or crash! thanks!
I am using Nebula ICS rom, based off of Canadian ICS, no bloat. It is just a better version of stock rom. You can add addons for Padawan, if needed.
No issues whatsoever.
If you don't want the drama with JB roms, old boring ICS is the way to go.

So true. Just went back to ICS ROM (Blackstar X) and not a single reboot during 3 days. Yes it feels a bit slower than JB and not that nice. Also I love ASOP and this one is TW so still will be looking for something else I think. But other than that it's rock solid.
While two weeks of using different 4.1.2 and 4.2.2 ROMS was a complete nightmare
Been on SOA since B1 with no reboots at all. No issues what so ever. You can find it in the Original Dev section. GL

The most rock-solid stable ROM 4.0-4.4??

Now that I've got my ZUGPe my Note is going into semi retirement as mp3 player / cycling gps / htpc remote and I don't care so much about features and customizing as I do about stabiltiy now. I have dealt with varying degrees of instability with many many CM and AOKP variations to stay on Vanilla-ish Android. I really really really hate Touchwiz, but do I have to go back to Touchwiz to get something really stable? I'll cut you off and say maybe my phone just never agreed with CM or AOKP so even if yours is stable mine never quite got there, never more than 2-3 days without a RR or lockup, and usually several RR each day. My old Incredible on CM goes nearly a month before an issue creeps up but to be fair it doesn't get a ton of use. Neither will the Note so I just want something solid and dependable, rather than cutting-edge. Thanks for tossing your opinions at me!
You seem to be very aware that this a loaded question and knowledgable to the fact that what runs good on one, may not on another, so I will respond to this.
I am in the same boat as you and do still enjoy the Note, even though semi- retiring it.
At the moment I am swapping back and forth on 2 roms to determine which I like best. They are older roms and never had a hiccup from neither.
Rootbox and Sons of Android.
I am having trouble however. I like them both.

its PT's also
Carbonrom V 1.8
I too am not happy with touchwiz roms. And seemed always returning to one of pt's builds because they are for me rock solid. But TW.
I have flashed a bunch of roms, and try most any AOSP, AOCP, AOKP, CM, ... searching for a stable daily driver that works all the time.
I have been running Carbon Rom V 1.8 it's 4.2.2 and for my phone stable. Very stable. ALL my phone functions work perfectly, call quality, speaker phone, bluetooth, even my call recording app works. Camera, video, all good.
Really happy with this one. Battery life is a bit better too. If that is even possible with the i717.
I had been trying the nightly builds, and the huber kernel. But was getting an occasional lock up reboot, etc..
Had given up and went back to ol faithful Padawan.
Then found a Carbon Rom release version for our i717, Version 1.8. I did a full wipe, data, cache, and flashed it with TWRP. And the gapps-jb-20130812-signed.zip.
No OC but it runs fine without it. Haven't tried the huber kernel with this version, and don't plan to.

However, not to be technical, but its "Uber".
For Bulldogs function and for mine, we are not using phone function anymore. Just a sort of mini tablet.

I would base this question on "which ROM would I flash on my wife's phone".... She also has the 717, but won't let me put my dirty mitts on it That being said, without question I would put AOKP 4.4.2 on it if she finally relented. One of the most stable I have run, and blownfuze said he has no intention of giving up his note anytime soon. Which means we will get support for a while on that one.

:highfive:Yes, that is a great analogy, "which ROM would I flash on my wife's phone".
Only trouble is her phone is the i317. Carbon does have a release for her phone, but she likes the Jedi X version I have on hers.
I will have to re-investigate the latest AOKP 4.4.2 . I did briefly look at it and didn't get much past the known issues. Glad he fixed them.
I appreciate the developers here, and all the time they spend working and tweaking these ROMS.
However this Carbon works great for my i717. Camcorder, camera, gallery, all working fine. Bluetooth, etc.
I have had only one complaint about speaker phone echo, and I couldn't hear it on my end. When my wife called me from her note 2. I use the speaker phone option on about 1/2 my calls.
Thank you captemo for catching the miss spelled kernel. Wouldn't want someone searching for a mis-spelled anything! :good:
I hope this thread finds it's way to others still loyal to the i717 wanting something other than TW based ROMS. Retired or not, I like everything the device has to operate, reliably.
I did DL "Sons of Android" a couple weeks ago, and the .rar files opened up into something other than a ROM. Guess that one is gone?

I thought aokp 4.4.2 and all kit kat roms had issues with the display going crazy especially related to games and lock screens. I though the camcorder doesn't work yet for aokp. I am in the same boat. My s4 died so I am back to the old note. I am going to try carbon 1.8 or sons on android, as those are the only download links I can find. Thanks for this post.

Thank you captemo for the direction of the Sons of Android files.:good:
I did DL them. My connection must have been wonky.
I had issues with the Gapps file. It must have been a bad download for me. Tried twice. Got the ROM to load up fine, but without Gapps I didn't get a good testing done. I was using TWRP.
Without an MD5 to be sure my DL was good I probably shouldn't have tried it.
So I reinstalled Carbon V1.8 from my BU.
Since my last post, I did have a FC and reboot related to my BeWeather App. I have also had issues with this App in TW based ROMs I've tried.
I don't load allot of Apps, or run many programs. And the ones I can Greenify, I do. Maybe this is why Carbon works for me?:fingers-crossed:
I reset my weather App to update manually when I use it now. I think it updating as the program opens has been the trouble.
Is there a problem with Auto-Brightness on non TW roms? My display flickers when I unlock my screen. This happened on 4.4.2 roms and 4.2.2 carbon 1.8. Is there a simple fix I am forgetting?
The auto bright setting on the non TW based ROMs I have tried have not been as smooth as TW ROMs. I set the auto function off, and set it to low.
Some of the non TW based ROMs have the slide your finger across the top of the screen to manually adjust brightness. Nice feature.
I went back to the download dropbox provided by captemo and re-downloaded the files, and got a good clean ROM and Gapps. :good:
I am using "Sons Of Android" now, and like it very much! So far so good!
Thank you, captemo :good:
