Factory Cable/Adapter for RAZR - Motorola Droid RAZR

Hey guys, I was fixing a Droid RAZR for a friend by unrooting it so he could return the phone under factory replacement. Long story short, used droid razr utility 1.42 which caused the initial soft brick(i believe it was because it was old and became unresponsive on 'sending/writing System'), now the phone has "Battery LOW", downloaded utility 1.6 for use with gingerbread but can't work on phone at all cause of the low battery.
after not sleeping at all and countless reading, i've concluded i need a Motorola Factory Cable so that it will provide a fake "charge" or an okay for the phone to receive the utility 1.6 in fastboot.
My question is, is the Factory Cable what I need to combat this "Battery LOW" in order allow utility 1.6 to flash? And lastly where can I obtain a Factory cable locally? Does the VZW store carry them or possibly a Fry's or Best buy? I don't mind paying some $ to get this finished ASAP.
Thanks guys, help is greatly appreciated.

You can make a factory cable yourself .. U just need to short pin 1 and 4 of ur regular micro USB cable ( use a samsung cable preferably) ... Check out this video .. I was able to find one in ebay ... [ just try charging in AP fasboot mode with your regular cable before trying this ]

Stuck in Invalid Flash Mode

Hi guys,
So I have a problem with my friends Razr Maxx on Verizon... she hated ICS and wanted GB back on her phone... I rooted the phone just fine and was going to flash the GB sbf (2.3.6) that I found on here. During the process in RSD Lite I got a failure(dont remember what exactly it said though
). Now her phone is softbricked, and when I try to go to "tools" in fastboot menu the red M blinks then it brings me right back to this screen:
"Invalid Flash Mode (s) (Boot Failure)
0A.6C
To return to normal mode - first press power key to power down
Device is LOCKED. Status Code: 0
Battery Low
Cannot program
Connect USB
Data Cable
Invalid CG OTV (CG: system): Invalid SP data
Invalid CG Version (CG: system)
Invalid CG OTV (CG: system)"
If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this problem I would appricate it, my friend is freaking out because she doesnt want to lose the limited edition employee Razr Maxx
First, try to charge the phone by plug in to wallcharger or search this forum for "low battery" solutions.
Then you would try the Matt's tools here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1769345
That tool will restore ur friend phone to stock ICS.
As i know becoz bootloader is locked we can not go back to GB once already on ICS.
Good luck!

I have done that and it doesnt seem to charge... and I have tried to use Matts tool however now it just sits on "waiting for device" I never post my problems and usually just use XDA to fix these type of issues but I have looked at every forum on here and couldnt find anything about this problem using a Verizon Razr Maxx

imho, you have to have a working /system to charge the battery without booting.
You could try to solder a microUSB to make a Motorola Factory cable. This cable will ignore the low battery problem.
Tutorial here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20521609
Or purchase from ebay: http://shop.mobileweb.ebay.com/searchresults?cmd=SKW&catid=0&kw=motorola+factory+cable
Then use Matts tool.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I just spoke to her and shes just going to get a a replacement and sell it to get a SGS III
Razr Maxx
I'm having the same problem, (not meaning to hijack a thread here)
Stuck in Fastboot mode, battery too low to program, unable to charge because in fastboot mode.
Am I going to need this factory cable, to get the fastboot mode to complete the programming using
Matts tool option 1 and HOPEFULLY if that gets me back to stock rom, then I can finally charge up my Maxx using my
regular charger .... correct?

How is it so many people try to program (Flash) there phone without have a good charge on the battery. The first thing I always check before I do anything is check the charge level.

I understand what you're saying if you do it so many times, and then slip one time ... if I knew what the results were going to be, then I
would have waited ...
Yes, got the Factory Cable on the way ... just have to wait ...
I thank all the wonderful people of XDA so people like me can realize they arent the only one with the same exact problem, and usually
find a way out ... this is the closest i have come to bricking my phone, ANY phone for that matter ....

[Q] advice on flashing rom 2.3.5 locked photon 4g

so i have spent hours trying to install a new rom from stock on 2.3.5.
I have bricked it loads and arrived at moto sunfire 2.3.5 using rsd.
i know that it is quite hard to flash a new rom install to the photon but i managed to complete install using an AOKP rom but after install a restart and then brick so back to the sunfire, I was wondering if someone can have a look at the install log and tell me what is going on and if there is a way of making it work? The bootloader is locked but installing using droid x2 recovery
THanks.

yeah i can't get back to stock either. and have no gsm capabilities. i need some direction or help with where to go next.
i'm up to using the sunfire sbf and cannot flash a kernel etc. i have used droid x2 recovery which allowed an install using aroma installer. then it hard bricks and needs an rsd reset, then back to sunfire, but there is not a 2.3.5 official update from motorola or android that has worked either.
You can't install custom kernels or installers on locked 2.3.5. This is how to unbrick it back to sprint. Other than that you are pretty much out of luck. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1798145
ok i have tried that, now no charge on phone at all, it doesn't charge when plugging into the wall, when plugging it in to laptop with battery get just a green light, without get a white light, the noise to say device plugged in and then installing driver software for microboot. Any way forwards from this?
oh yeah, im in the UK so no warranty or anything.
Thanks

Look up USB wall charger hack. I can't remember which thread it's in. But essentially you're going to need a 5v usb wall charger and any old usb cable that you dont care about cutting and splicing. There will be 4 cables inside your usb cable. But you only need the Black and Red I think. Then you will need to directly connect the appropriate wires directly to the battery terminals t the correct polarity. I had to do it awhile ago when I bricked my phone and let the battery die. It works, trust me. Just gotta leaving it charging for a few hours. NM found the thread for you. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=376299

brick'd razr

hello everyone,
guys I am "desperate".
well, I was using the rom LiquidSmooth v2.4 on my razr XT910 was two weeks and everything was fine, so that before yesterday stopped recognizing my usb cable. I made several tests and ended up deleting my internal and external memory (pure stupidity), along with my backup. Now my phone does not pass the motorola logo screen, and I can only enter the Native motorola recovery.
My cel is not being recognized by the usb cable, or in fastboot, ie, do not have to use RSD.
With that, I wish someone, a good soul, can provide a nandroid of a rom to be performed via native razr recovery. (remembering that the rom I used was 4.2.2 jb and my cel is retail.en.eu)
Man, already tried everything, so I have left it. I can not lose this cel, I have no money to buy another (student is a sh all poor. Hehe)
if anyone has another idea of how to fix my cel is welcome.
if you can help me thank you very much ...
ps: very good initial video for noobs, kkkkk
ps ²: do not speak English very well, so I used google translator, sorry an error.

I'm not sure if this will fix your problem, but do you have the proper drivers installed on your computer? Try installing them (https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/88481) and then plugging it in. If it works, you can use Matt's Utility (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192467) to restore to stock.

thanks man, but already tried installing all the drives, but not forward ... already many tests, including other computers but I can not that my phone is recognized by usb. I think it is hardware problem from my phone ... I found the little that has not as installing a nandroid recovery by native, so if I do not get the computer to recognize my phone, there is no hope for me.
The only thing I can think of would be to try out one of these http://shop.teamblackhat.info/Factory-style-programming-cable-for-Motorola-FactCable.htm and hope the computer recognizes it. Anybody else know if this would work if the computer doesn't recognize the phone at the moment?

Agreed. Factory cable and RSD unbricked my phone and all I had left was bootloader. I'd flashed an ICS recovery on JB and even killed the android recovery.

Need help bricked razr

So I was installing some new firmware and while it was installing my little brother UNPLUGGED the USB cable. And then it booted into fast boot or what ever. the problem is it wont charge in that mode. so i had to cut the wires on the charger and connect them to my battery. I dont have the right screw driver for them screws on the battery so i had to do what i had to do. but using what ever i could to loosen them up. and I realized that one of the bolts that goes the phones mother board came off came loose. Is this phone pretty much ****3d? or can I use some super glue to fix it? I have pics but I cant post them because I'm new here.

Hey guys, it would be great if you can help me out a bit.
Now I'm on unrooted JB on Verizon US Kernel, because I wanted to try out JB on my GSM Razr some months ago.
For some reason I needed to unbrick my device and flash JB firmware again, so now I can only boot via bptools, no recovery, no root...
I know that amazing people on xda created a way to root GSM Razr on Jelly Bean. But of course, in BP Tools Mode, thats not even possible. Is there a way to get my phone rooted and back to offical working Jelly Bean?
When I try to restore my CID img via command prompt, I'll get the error: command restricted...
Please try to help me!

Glad i didnt have to start a thread on this as you have already. I have the same issue, the phone wont take a charge when its in fastboot or otherwise without being able to boot up. So you cant use the droid razr utility to flash back to stock. The utility requires that you to put the phone in fastboot mode and fastboot requires a battery to be charged above a certain level. Any suggestions. ?? I'm suprised their aren't more people replying to this thread, but it is a legacy device so that probably has something to do with it.
Unfortunately, the droid razr battery doesn't come out too easily or you could buy an external charging dock. I tried to take the back off mine and not only was it glued on and just about ripped the back cover in half getting it out, I couldnt see a way to get the battery out without damaging something. there is a very fragile ribbon cable located at the bottom of the battery and Im sure if you rip that it will be a paperweight from then on. On to the next phone.
I dunno how but my xt 925 went from low battery to battery Ok several times while in fastboot. Maybe that's just the xt925.

Factory cable is the solution
Hey man, You can reflash your firmware by using factory cable. You can make one on your own.
You can search "how to make factory cable" ... They're not so complicate if you have welding gun.
But the easiest way is use a small piece of electric wire , bend it to shape "U" , then try to connect point "1" with point "4" by the "U".
Sorry for my bad English. You can refer to below video.:
youtube .com watch?v=rH2MXnKdoMA
just need to use a small piece of electric wire.
Best and fastest way ist to simply open the phone on the back and connect the red and the black cable from usb to the battery's + and -. Leave cables attached while flashing rsd.
It leaves absolutely no visible marks on the phone if you use a guitar pick to open the razr (check youtube for tutorial).
Hey! Just disassambled the external case (search a video on YouTube) and cut a mini USB cable. You need to use the black and red cable. The red one is the positive and the black one is the negative. Put them under the respectives screws and conect the point of the USB in the charger and then to the wall. Then, connect your phone in the USB port and conect it to the wall. After that, put the AP Fastboot and use RSD Lite to recover your phone
You don't have to open the phone, just make a factory cable and flash the rom with Rsd.
