That's not the way to handle things like this. If you want to be immature and make an ass of yourself, by all means go ahead. Just don't go trying to rile up the community and making us all look like idiots.

I'm pretty sure HTC knows how we feel and doesn't give a ****.
What we need is for the WORLD to know how WE feel and then put a skeptical eye on HTC to see what they do...that's the only way HTC will do the right thing. They already knew how we would feel, they certainly know how we do feel...and I doubt they care.
But if we take this to the biggest stages we can find and get a wider audience to hear what is going on then HTC has to respond on to the wider audience....which they will care about. They have already demonstrated they don't care about our tiny little corner of the internet.
1.) I e-mailed Android Central to follow this. I expected they would already, but I guess they are scared to death of losing out on any industry freebies and hookups they may have. Others should follow suit and get them to follow this
2.) Everybody submit this to Slashdot.org as well. a Huge readership over there that would care about our plight. Don't just submit the 'why' we are upset but links to tweets, message boards and htc's facebook to show the how upset we are and how many of us there are.
3.) Any other media outlet that may care. Try to keep from getting too 'nerdy', don't get into crypto-signed bootloader talk....just say "encrypted the phone so we can't install whatever software we want"
4.) Bomb Google searches, make a trend. Same for twitter.
5.) Be tasteful and grownup. Don't hurl insults, don't just bomb someones email, don't DDOS. Just spread our plight to a larger audience and then HTC has to answer to EVERYONE (not just us) with their actions....as opposed to what they will answer just us with--inaction.
Off to Facebook.....

I know its been done before, but I emailed HTC about any possibilities to an ICS update for the jetstream. Since XDA reported that Samsungs galaxy tabs are getting their ICS updates, its upsetting that such a beastly, functional, and not to mention expensive device like the jetstream goes with little/no support and no update to ICS.
Perhaps the small userbase in these forums could also send an email asking or requesting yoru concern for an update be forwarded to the right department(wishful thinking).
-------> http://www.htc.com/us/support/email-support
What a bummer.
I feel like if the Jetstream got ICS, it would expand the life of the device a ton.
I agree. I've spoke with HTC via email and phone to ask them about this. It's always the same response, that they can't provide any info on this presently.
Also, Paul O'Brien (@modaco) was at a 2-day HTC event recently, and he said he'd ask them about it, but I haven't seen what came of this yet.

I too wrote an email to them and they replied they had no idea and as it was under AT&T, we were to contact them for further details.
Anyways, I just hope that HTC will support the device for 18 months as they promised (meaning which they may release ICS sometime later on) and I agree that if it does come it will be late but I still feel it will be worth the wait.
In the meanwhile, all we can do is wait with our fingers crossed.

ATT's responsibility?
ATT is not the ones programming HTC phones. Sounds like a tactic to get customers to go away, blame ATT.
I'd say at this point with the Jetstream's lack of popularity, price drop, etc, HTC probably feels like the time it would take for an ICS update would be a waste of time money and resources. I hope this is not the case.
Its frustrating when you put your faith and money in a company and their product and other companies are dishing out updates.

Ya they just plan on pushing from HTC to AT&T and vice versa.
HTC should not just leave us to die with the device. If they find the popularity low, by bringing ICS out for this device, they could really increase its popularity manifold.
Let us also not forget that Flyer got an update for its software only after a year of its release. So let us just hope that HTC keeps its promise for supportive its devices for 18months after release and does something concrete for us.
In the meanwhile, we must hope and wait. S-OFF also globatron has done some really nice method for other HTC devices using wire link method. It may be viable for the Jetstream as well. Let's just wait and see.

Although it is uncertain when exactly it will be released, a pre-order should be available on our website in the near future for you to purchase. Please check our website for updates on this product.
Looks like a lot of other people did also.
I know that I mentioned, that since I sold my HTC Flyer, that I would stop posting in this forum, but I do want to pass this along to other HTC Flyer users and forum readers.
HTC Does care about what customers think.
I recently called HTC about removing the Premium Navigation for the US and Canada that I purchased from the CAR PANEL app. I was selling my flyer and didn't want to include that (in case I got another HTC device in the future). I was told at that time that it could only be done once I actually had a new HTC device in hand.
Anyhow, long story short, I left it at that and sold my Flyer. The next day, I got an email asking how my experience with customer service went. I told them that I was dissatisfied with the what had taken place.
Fast forward about about a week. I received 2 phone calls (one left a voice mail) and 2 emails from HTC asking what could be done to correct this and If there was anything that they could do to help me. They told me they could do the removal of license for the premium navigation for me. (too late, though, I sold it).
They were very friendly, helpful, and apologetic.
Just letting you know, that perhaps, if more people write to them, they will listen.
They did the same to me. After giving them a bad grade on the survey they called me and tried to explain things.
Although they should have credit for that, I wouldn't say that they care. If they care about anything it is the grade given by customers on their support function. After the phone call (which was about ICS by the way) I still feel that they don't care about my initial ICS questions.
I will say they care when I have an ICS or JB official HTC ROM installed on my Flyer. Until then, I say they don't care. That's how I see it, the Flyer is not that old... it is still being sold brand new, you can find it listed on the official HTC websites of many countries.
There are no hardware limitations for an OS update, they just don't want to spend time developing it. If they did, it would still be a very competitive device hardware-wise with some unique features no other tablet has (the n-trig pen, the wonderful materials and build quality, great storage capacity, HDMI out, dual cameras, GPS, Bluetooth, great wifi, ... ). It was a mistake to sell it for as high as 700€ for the 3G version in Europe (yes, more than the iCrap), but when they dropped the price tag, sales took a big rise. Now they can´t even sell the stock they have in storage because who's going to pay 250-300€ for the wifi version or 450-550€ for the 3G when Honeycomb is the running OS and they've announced they won't release ICS for the Flyer?.
Nexus 7 sells for 200$, that's around 160€... If the Flyer has been a commercial failure it is only HTC's fault. It's a great device, best 7" tablet IMHO still today, but with ****ty software and so expensive... it just can't compete. Do they care? then they're idiots because only HTC should be blamed for the commercial failure of this wonderful device.
If HTC would only release a nice OS update I really believe they could sell the Flyer even with a premium price tag compared to any other 7" tablet, but instead of that they said they won't release any new tablets in the near future and are not going to update the Flyer. Sooner or later HTC will want to return to the tablet market... and they'll find they've forged themselves a very bad reputation for their treatment to the Flyer... and sadly it is a well deserved bad reputation.
End of rant. Sorry.
I just so happen to be reading the review by BGR.com of the DNA because I've never seen it before. I came across this... "There are also concerns about HTC and future software updates since it isn’t clear if HTC’s recent smartphones will ever see Android 4.2 or any other future versions of the operating system." Now this left me scratching my head, and asking myself why? Can this be true? Did I just buy a brand new dud phone? Is HTC really doing that bad?
Now, I love my new phone, but reading that leaves me with some concern. If anyone can shine some light on this topic please do so. I'm just hoping the editor was just talking out of his ass, because HTC is in a light struggle right now, and wanted to beef up his review. Well, I still have a little over a week to return the phone if I need to. I guess I better start digging for answers before its too late?
HTC doesnt really pushes as many updates as others do, atleast what i have seen till now, i could be wrong but i wont actually be worrying about that because the devs here at XDA make our phones awesome. I am currently on Captivate which recently got a GB update from Samsung but thanks to all the devs here, i am running JB on it So , just trust the devs here & keep the phone !
Why can't these phone makers keep rom development going for the entire period warrantied by them as soon as the phone is released, so if it came out say next week it would be supported for atleast a year jeez.
Although I would prefer an official update from HTC to stay current, that's not stopping me from putting a different rom on my phone!
Are phone makers lazy or just constantly switching support bases for their dev teams?
You guys shouldn't believe everything you read . This phone we hold in our hands " the j butterfly" wasn't even supposed to see American soil , and look what happened. HTC may be slow at updating but since everybody knows this its your choice to come here and wait . Release of an update is depending on not only HTC releasing it , its also dependent on Verizon giving it the final seal of approval. And my self would be happy to wait , phone just got unlock, and good things are just starting to happen .

BGR is trolling. There was a rumor that HTC was developing their own OS or forking Android. I am sure that is where they are drawing their conclusions from, despite that being a false rumor that has been around for a year or two. HTC would be committing mobile suicide, because Google won't license their app store to non-Android devices (that I know of).
The DNA will likely see 4.2. Probably not past that though. HTC (and Samsung, Moto, etc) typically don't update phones past one Android version upgrade.
PS - the Butterfly is an off-shoot of the DNA, not the other way around. I have that directly from HTC. The DNA was developed at VZWs direction, and since the Butterfly would not compete, permission was given for it's release.

I know where dsb started, thanks. I still would like proof. The J Butterfly was out well before the DNA, so it seems weird that the DNA would be the parent device.

The DNA is a Verizon variant of the phone that was previously released in Japan as the J Butterfly. I covered both devices for Rootzwiki News, and every other credible source I read from said that the J Butterfly was the first HTC device with the Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset and the 5-inch 1080p display. The J Butterfly, the Droid DNA, and the DLX are all variants of the same phone, but the DNA was definitely not the first one of the group.

So is it possible that an International DLX won't be coming? Since it's Unlocked GSM and would work on ATT and Tmo.

While time-frame-wise that is entirely true, however when the phones were thought of/created as opposed to released are two different things. Not saying you're wrong, just that the DNA could have been created by HTC first, then the J. VZW could have easily pushed the release past the J.

There will be a DLX - there's no way T-Mobile and AT&T are going to pass on a 1080p HTC phone with a 1080p display and a quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset. AT&T might try to make its own locked-down variant, but the other carriers are not going tollet Verizon have the only U.S. version of this monster - especially since there has been no word that I've seen of any exclusivity clause for Verizon.

To worry about HTC's status as a going-concern is pretty much like wondering if you will buy a new and more awesome phone after 2-year contract. I think HTC will be around. Look at RIM, even in such situation, they are still fighting for a comeback. HTC is not RIM yet.
