I cut a ribbon cable trying to replace the screen in my girlfriends Dinc. Now the repairs cost more than I want to spend so i'm going to sell it as broken on Ebay.
Question is, is there a way to wipe everything/hard reset it without the display working? When I power it on it does that short vibrate so I know it's still working. Just can't see anything.

If you have rooted and adb configured, you can try: adb shell wipe data.
Never had it rooted

You could try flashing the stock rom (using RUU).

Hi, im haveing my EVO View repaired by HTC and i need to know how to un-revolutionary, because i dont have usb connectivity (The charging port is not working)
Could somone help me? I need to get back to S-ON
Just hope they don't charge. I asked the same thing before I shipped it out. Luckily they just emailed me today saying it's fixed and said they are going to ship back. How did you damage the port?
I mistakenly tried to put the wrong side of the charger plug in.
Very sensitive the port is

Just asking because if they would have charged me i would have been pissed because I think their port is very faulty. So i really am afraid of it happening again. I know this time I'm going to baby it even more. My gf is going to hate me lol.
Good luck I really hope it all works out or if someone can help.

That won't over write the hboot. You need to be able to push the hboot with adb from recovery. Really not sure if there is a way to do it without a USB connection. Maybe in a terminal emulatorwhile booted although I am not sure if trying to push an hboot while fully booted

So, does anyone know if they can even tell? at this point the device wont power on, but they would have to repair it and charge it up to even know its rooted, right?

Correct. And the only way to do this would be to somehow dd a stock HBOOT (I could provide one) over the revolutionary one, and reflash the stock ROM. It would go like this, but since your device isn't powered it's kinda useless:
1. Install the stock RUU on your device (extract the rom.zip from it, google extract rom.zip extract RUU) rename the rom.zip PG41IMG and place on sdcard >>> reboot into hboot.
2. After 2 complete passes, reboot into the system with the hboot of the RUU on the sd. DD it using Terminal Emulator (a command like this, don't actually run it: dd if=/hboot.nb0 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18)
3. Reboot into fast boot to confirm the stock restore.
4. ???
5. Profit
Now obviously the device will require power here and when I used this method I had to stop midway to charge, so even 40% battery isn't an option.
EDIT: If you can get some battery, just do HTC Unlock. Although it's a warranty void, I think HTC would provide support rather to the guy who used their tools instead of a third party one.
My 2 cents, but their 1950 special edition ones so don't lose em!
Oh yeah I just realized you could take your sdcard out and put it into the computer to put files on it, if you can even get it charged though :/

Okay. So your saying that since it can't boot I'm fine, the would HAVE to fix it because it disent have enough charge?
Sent from my ADR6300 using xda premium
I had the same problem back in December. My advice is to turn off your device and conserve as much battery power as you can until you figure out what to do, because once you run out, you're stuck. Unfortunately for me, I found out my port was broken when I plugged it in when I ran out of batteries. I sent it to HTC though, and within a couple weeks I had it back, with HC on it. If you do send it in, make sure to back everything up because they flashed mine.

Well if HTC fixes the port and charges it up and finds revolutionary, I doubt they would refuse to send it back. They've fixed it already.
there have been a couple of people who managed to charge their flyer by taking off the back plate and charging the battery directly. This would only fix a portion of your problem. In the end if you do not have usb connectivity I am not sure you can replace the Hboot. If the port is broken it really has nothing to do with being S Off. I can not see why it would impact the repairs, although I think you stand a decent chance of recieving an invoice.
ok i got this phone back from my son and all i can get it to do is to go in to hboot cant get recovery i can get something called usb boot any help would be great and tks

doing that now the ruu was found now the battay is to low to go on any way to change the battery in the phonew at this point
If it doesn't charge while the phone is off then I would suggest buying an external battery charger. You could probably pick one up from Amazon for 10-20.

Hey there I just got the CLNR replacement and I have to send back my phone. Do I have to send the old one back UNroot or does it even matter if I send it back rooted? And if I have to send it back stock UNroot, how do I do that if my old thunderbolt's charging port is currently unusable? Someone mentioned using wireless ADB but Idk how to use that. Any help anyone? I used the all in one tool to root my new phone( which still drops internet service :/ ) and I'd like to try to UNroot using the tool again.

If it is going back to Verizon then I would unroot it. I think to use wireless adb just start wifi and open wireless adb then use the adb devices command on your PC once you're connected with wifi to see if it is seeing your device. Then use the allinone tool to unroot. You should also see about sending back the replacement since it is dropping data like you said. If you send them back enough they may upgrade you to a different device. Possibly a rezound.

I haven't heard that as they usually only suggest phones made by the same manufacturer.

I know my wife had a HTC merge and they replaced it with a droid 3. I have seen a few people where they offered the rezound or gnex as a replacement for issues with the bolt. Like they say its all in who you get on the phone. Also asking doesn't hurt.

That's pretty awesome. I know my wife had a **** ton of problems from her Droid 3 and they wouldn't let her replace it with anything but another Motorola.

Is there anything on my laptop that I need to install prior to using the wireless ADB? I'm not familiar with using ADB or the command prompt :/

You'll have to setup adb on your PC in order to for wireless adb to work. Google around for a guide.

Hey guys my screen went out yesterday. I took it to Verizon and I am getting refurbished rezound under the total protection plan.
I am rooted...unlocked....custom boot loader...and Rom...c
Do I need to try to relock and factory reset every thing?
Since the screen went out due to bad hardware...does me having custom Rom and software screw me when they put a new screen in the old phone?

Its hard to do without a screen. But if you use the rezound toolkit you can run the ruu and that will get you back to stock. the progress will show on the command prompt so you will know when its done. Like the post above said, better safe than sorry. Chances are they won't even check though.

Best to unroot if not and they see its rooted they can deny your claim and charge you full price. Not worth the risk

Didn't unroot. Didn't S-ON. That's just me, though. Mainly because I forgot. I had no problem with it from Asurion. Though, as others said, better safe than sorry. You never know.
