My limited guess would be to full wipe and reflash ROM

i recommend factory reset

As for duplicate camera and gallery apps, just might be because you chose to install aosp camera app during installation.

You lot are a bunch of useless muppets, aren't you? He's already stated specifically that he can't get into download or recovery mode, so he can't full wipe, factory reset or flash anything.
To the original poster, it unfortunately sounds like you may have bricked your device. Presuming that you've tried powering up the phone with the appropriate buttons held down to access recovery mode and that doesn't work, you're limited to contacting your provider and/or Samsung to get the phone fixed.

hmm
Yep, you should try to get to download mode (pressing vol down + power) while booting and then flashing a stock rom with odin. Then root and get cwm and flash another rom.

Well apart from as said by anthropolyte a number of useless noob reply's .
I would be sourcing a USB Recovery Jig and try to access download mode before a service repair .

[Q] Diagnosis Wanted

Hello all,
I've been having a look round on the internet to find a solution to the problem that I'm currently facing with my Galaxy S2,
I recently installed the checkrom OS and darknight firmware, and decided to use clockworkmod to backup the rom and settings, it restarted and then flashed up the start up screen, I.E:
"Samsung
GALAXY S II
GT-I9100"
It wont go any further than this, and if I turn the phone off and on again its stuck on the same screen, it will not go into recovery mode, nor will it go into download mode.
Am I right in thinking that for some unknown reason it failed to reboot into CWM to do a ROM backup and has bricked my phone? In which case will a USB Jigg off of amazon at the very least restore the download mode?
Responses very welcome, as I am a bit buggered without my phone =)
Much thanks
The only way to get past this try and boot into clockwork mod and do a complete wipe and reflash the ROM and don't use any custom kernels use the one that comes with the ROM and that should get ya going and make shure you wipe your dalvik ceche and your battery stats

Anyway, if you can't get into download or recovery mode, yes, it could be worth trying a jig, it can't make it any worse .

Haha thanks, think your probably right, I cant think of any other way to recover the phone if I cant access the Download mode at the very least.
Did you try it through ROM manager
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
I recently had an issue quite the same -- on the latest MIUI build, with SiyahKernel, I tried to perform a backup using ROM Manager, and it rebooted the device, and then I couldn't get past the Galaxy S II logo. I couldn't access recovery mode either.
My only solution was to put it into download mode, and restore the stock firmware for the device, then re-root, and re-install everything.
I think you might be confusing recovery mode and download mode though... I understand you might not be able to enter recovery mode (volume UP + home + power), but you definitely should still be able to enter download mode (volume DOWN + home + power) -- if not, you're pretty much going to have to take it to a Samsung Service Center, and play dumb if they ask you about custom ROMs, etc.
But I'm very confident that you should still be able to access download mode, try giving it another shot
Remember, volume down.
If you can get into it, find and download your stock ROM, and flash it through Odin (if you need help with finding it or whatever, just PM me?)
As before, if you can't access download mode, a jig won't do anything for you.

[Q] Boot loop.. cannot reach recovery menu

I am sure, this has been posted somewhere, but am new to this forum and cannot find it. please bear with me.
I installed CM7 on my Galaxy ace and tried to restore back to stock ROM. the restoration failed, the phone is now in a bootloop (the samsung logo flashes once every two seconds). I tried getting the phone into recovery mode but it does not get that far.
However, I am able to get the phone to download mode and tried loading the stock 2.3.3, 2.3.5 ROM via ODIN. Both times, ODIN passed the installation. but my phone has not improved. can anyone please help?
PS: consider me a beginner.
after flashing from odin go to recovery and do full wipe

I wish I could do that. My phone does not get that far.. it restarts before that. Can I do this from the PC anyway?
Search clockwork mod recovery that has 205mg its flashable via odin
Try to flash this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1121192
Flash it with odin choose it as pda
might say aint compatibile but flash anway
yeah. just tried that. I downloaded the file and chose that as PDA and flashed my phone with odin.. I am still getting the same problem. I guess, the warranty is void since I installed CM7.. so what to do now?
well before giving up you could just let it do its thing for like an hour and see what happens...

Flashed a full package ROM ?
Herpderp Adreno + Tegra.
Wait from where did you downloaded firmware snd which version of odin did you used.
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda premium
the same happened to me also.
in the past i've flashed my ace with cm7 and wanted to go back to the stock rom.
flashed the stock rom with odin but the phone stuck in a boot loop.
if you have flashed stock rom with odin..
do this..
remove the phone batteries and let them out for a minute.
after that insert the battery again and goto the Recovery mode by holding the power and the home button.
once you are in recovery (Clockworkmod Recovery).
do a data/factory wipe.
a cache wipe
and a Dalvik Wipe.
and reboot the phone.
hope you phone boots normally.
Am using ODIN version 4.38.
downloaded the original CM7 version from this site ported by grif (Kooper Kang something).
When I had problems with that, I tried to revert to Stock rom 2.3.3 from sammobile.com
To answer other question, I am NOT able to go to the recovery menu. Hence cannot wipe cache, reset etc. The phone restarts before that. The only mode I am able to switch on is the Download mode. Even if I reload the ROM with ODIN showing a "PASSED" at the end of the process, my phone is still a brick.
Thanks to everyone who tried to help.
Seriously, I've seen this before. It can only be fixed by the service centre... flash the stock rom and take it in under warranty if you still have it.

Wrong, after flash the stock rom with ODIN take battery, insertt battery, the keep pressed Home button and Power button until it goes to Samsung Recovery, then do the full wipe and reboot.

[Q] Challenge? Help revert to stock without home button working.

So I know search the forums before making a thread and trust me I have.
I have looked through the following threads and they have helped but weren't able to get me to where I need to be.
SGS2 Bell/Virgin Canadian Thread Q&A (Root/Unlock/Firmware) Modems/Mod

[READ THIS] Got a Boot Loop? Don't post a New Thread!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1108499
what happened
-Home button is non responsive
-tried to revert back to previous rom CM9-CM7 to see if it was a software issue but got into a bootloop.
-Can't wipe user data anymore in recovery due to no home button functionality
I need to revert to my stock so I can get my home button fixed. Yet can't find a way that works due to not being able to wipe data as recoveries generally use the home button to make selections.
I do have a usb jig and can put the phone in download mode.
Does anyone have any advice or suggestions at all.
Basically I need to somehow wipe data through recovery without the home button and then download stock all without using the home button.... >.>
I am running villianrom1.1 because it was one of the only things I could find that auto wipes data to bypass the boot loop and don't have clockworkmod recovery.
Any help suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated!
Since you can get to download mode have you try using odin to flash back to bell 2.3.3?
Well I tried reverting back to stock already. I get into a boot loop due to not being able to wipe
Do you gave CWM installed? If so, use CWM Manager icon in the app list to boot into recovery.
Edit. Sorry, just read your last sentence. Hmmm, not sure now

Fix?
Try downloading lolboot with it u get to recovery when u plug a USB cable in the phone

BTW: why dont u download clockworkmod?
I can boot into recovery via clock work mod but my recovery doesn't allow for data wipe without home button. Can't select options with power button only home

From this thread flash a wipe rom via odin, that will factory reset and wipe everything from the phone, a clean slate if you will.
veyka I have tried to flash my stock rom before and it didn't work. How do those differ and if I do flash them will I be able to flash it after flashing one of those?

An Odin flash should boot. Try finding a 3 part file with pit and tick repartition. Many say to avoid repartition but I've never had any problems. I've never had to wipe my phone when using Odin. Seems like you are flashing a no-wipe version. So maybe also check that its a wipe version (1 part or 3 part file).
Sent from my GT-I9100
A full wipe rom via Odin will work. Another choice but takes more work would be to boot into recovery then use adb to wipe data from the command line.
I can't think off hand what commands to type into adb to do it though.
Maybe try wiping using dialer code *2767*3855#

Install CM recovery First
Here are the steps:
1) Install CM Recovery using Heimdall Suite.
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_II
It will be full wipe.
2) Install stock ROM through ODIN.
It will definitely work.
hey,
is there anyway you can explain the steps in more detail.
Thanks for your help

Help getting out of bootloop

I have recently tried to put on a custom rom, but when my phone wouldn't boot I flashed back my siyah kernel onto my Galaxy S2 Gt-i9100. Now my phone is stuck on booting, please help.
Hi
Can u get into recovery mode ?
did u make a backup before flashing ? if so u can load your backup as long as u can get into revovery mode.
If u did not make a back up u may have to flash a rom from your computer using Odin.
read some threads on using Odin and recovery.
I'm still new to this so maybe others can give u more help.
good luck
peace
Factory reset if you have no recovery to restore backup. And if factory reset doesn't work, flash stock rom in Odin (assuming you still have download mode).
Can you access download mode?
Power + Vol Down + Home
If yes then flash stock firmware via odin..

Pretty sure I said that exact same thing over three hours ago.
Why do people here lately seem to have a habit of repeating the exact same thing someone else posted often many hours earlier purely for the sake of posting ? It's stupid :-/

[Q] Help...not booting!

Hi guys, I hope you can help....my phone has the latest cyanogenmod ROM installed and all has been running well...until today.I had the phone on charge and when I tried to boot it was getting stuck on the 'samsung galaxy s iii GT-I9300' screen..I have rebooted to recovery cleared cache, delvik cache and installed the ROM again, rebooted and still not working, so I repeated the same steps but also done factory reset, still the same. I have tried to connect the phone to pc but it is failing to load MTP usb drivers ....which I think is a unrelated issue.
I'm sure I should be able to get it going via recovery, have been trying all day...is there something I should be doing that I haven't tried already?
Hope somebody can help as I'm pulling my hair out!
Thanks in advance.

flash official firmware from sammobile.com via odin
Is product name blank in download mode, if yes then you have SDS and need a new motherboard. If no then flash stock rom using odin after full wipe and format of system & data, factory reset in recovery after flash and see if it boots.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
If you can go into recovery mode, it's not SDS, if you have backup just restore it, or go into download mode and flash stock Samsung firmware.
Make sure that you have latest Samsung drivers on your computer installed.Good luck.
Hi guys...
Thanks for the replies, I'm in the process of downloading the latest stock ROM, I didn't realise it was such a big file 800+MB!

Well,as much as I have read about SDS, you can't go into recovery mode, you can go only into download mode and there is blank product name.So maybe to OP it's a different situation, and to OP I would suggest to check if product name on download mode isn't blank.

Unfortunately not
1) Complete eMMC failure. This usually happens over night whilst on charge* - The LED may be lit but the phone will not wake. Subsequent removal of the battery will turn off the LED. You will never get the LED back on. The phone will never turn on again. It needs to go to a service centre and have the motherboard replaced
* Being on Charge is NOT the cause. This is a writing to memory issue and it is more likely to happen when teh device is awake rather than in deep sleep. When the S3 is on charge, it holds a wake lock (so remains awake) throughout the entire charging period, meaning SDS is more likely to occur when on charge This does not mean you should avoid charging your phone. If it's going to happen, it's going to happen
2) Half SDS as it has not-so-affectionately become known. This tends to be more of a boot loop of the Samsung boot splash. the eMMC is partially wiped out. You cannot boot into android or recovery . It fails at the boot screen, but the screen does turn on none-the-less. The only; thing you can do is top boot into Download mode.
Hi guys
Just to clarify, the product name on download mode isn't blank....and yes I tried the reset after loading from odin.
