Increased battery drain on standby - TouchPad General

Hello there.
I'm getting slightly increased battery drain on my touchpad, compared to the readings that I've done before.
Right now I'm getting between 45 and 55mA drain per hour and I have no idea what could be causing this. Previously my drain was around 30mA,even less. I have tried to wipe the rom and data, with a clean rom and battery monitor widget I'm getting the same results. Current rom: SGA's FnC, no clock, default governor.
The wifi isn't the issue, turning it off gives me 2-3mA decrease in drain, there is something else that's causing this.
Any ideas?

app related maybe

I have the same issue. I had CM9 builds around June/July that had standby drain of around 30mA, later builds increased to around 45mA which didn't change with CM10. I don't think it is app related, as even a fresh CM10 install with gapps reached 45mA for me.
Is there anybody how can confirm 30mA standby drain with a CM10 build? If so, it would be nice to compare the configuration to figure out where the difference comes from. 15mA difference doesn't sound like much but in reality it's about 2 days difference in standby lifetime.

he didnt specify which rom he was using, or his setup, but a lot of variables can cause more battery drain. certain apps can increase battery drain in standby. but personal experience is cm9 should be about 1% per hour. there has been lot of discussion in the rootzwiki forum about battery drain http://rootzwiki.com/topic/21871-rom-official-cyanogenmod-9-nightly-build-discussion/ can't help you with cm10 since i'm not going to use it until it has worked out more of the bugs.

It would have to be an app or background process causing it to not be as low as possible. I typically read 28-30mA when sleeping with CM9 and not much higher 31mA with CM10/AOKP.

Sadly, it appears that it's not ROM related, because I've done full data wipe with both stock latest CM9 and FnC. The only app I've installed is BMW to read the drain values.
16GB model and yes, I've started getting this issue around July or August too, previously my drain was around 30mA.

[Q] Bluetooth battery usage - CM7 RC1.2

Didn't see this mentioned in the CM7 dev thread...
Anyone else noticing bluetooth using up a much higher percentage of battery with CM7 than it does with other ROMS? Pulled my phone off the charger and let it sit with bluetooth enabled for like 3 hours with no usage whatsoever. After this time, bluetooth has used as much of the battery as Cell Standby (~30% each). I've never seen bluetooth higher than about 5% before!
Anyone else?

What has been said several times in the cm thread is that battery stats reporting is more than likely broken.

I am not so sure this is broken. My battery is being wrecked by CM7 1.2, when most claim to have very low battery drain from it. BT, and Cell Standby are the two things that show to consume a large amount of battery, and everyone seems to show that and still get good life.
I would prefer to run stock Kernel, but I am going to try the lean kernel and UV to see if that helps.

Is it normal to face massive battery drain (40%) overnight?

Currently on checkrom revolution 1.0 KI4 with hardcore's latest speedmod k2-8. Have had this phone for ard 5 months now and u can call me a compulsive flasher since I'm always flashing the latest roms, kernels and firmwares.
Throughout these 5 months, this overnight battery drain issue has been bugging me relentlessly, regardless of the firmware or rom used. Typically my phone will be off in the morning if i leave it at anything below 50% charge when going to bed. In contrast i've read of many accounts of sub 5% overnight drains that has lead me to suspect some kind of mistake on my part rather then a fundamental flaw in the design of the phone/software. Would be great if the xda community could assist by giving some insight into this matter, for in sure some of you might be/have been experiencing the same issue and might have solved it or are awaiting similar insight as well.

no its not normal. I lose 1-2% over an 7-8 hour period when im sleeping.
Install betterbatterystats and see what your wakelocks are over night. Something is obviously keeping your phone awake. The usual culprits are being signed into latitude or facebook chat.
i would suggest either change kernel or better yet change roms...kernel i would suggest ninp 2.0.5..stable and good battery life..also if you use setcpu i can provide you with frequencies so you can test it..message me so i can give them to you..regarding betterbatterystats i would not use but as skimmingstones say use it and see what your wakelocks are cause ur stats do not sound right buddy
Jeez! 40% overnight? I once had 8/9% drain overnight and got annoyed. Install Better Battery Stats first to see what apps/processes are causing the wakelocks. Then go on to change kernel and SetCPU etc for further betterment, but at first see what's going on background, with the help of BBS.
Post up screenshots of battery usage please.
My sister was loosing 40% each night turned out to be the Hotmail app not sleeping!
LOL 40 % !? your phone is the best drain phone ever :/
maybe U can set your display to low brightness and look of your phone goes to deep-sleep mode (CpuSpy)
Dude,
Try also to calibrate battery.
Look at my signature.
not normal for me lolz

[Q] Vibrant - Gummy - Battery Life

Hi,
I installed Gummy 1.2.0 on my vibrant. The first day or two I was getting amazing battery life. For instance with light-medium use, 30% of the battery was gone in 12+ hours, I was amazed. When I was getting this type of battery life Android system was using about 6-7%.
I noticed that as time passed, the battery life started getting worse and worse. I noticed that the Android System was eating up more and more battery even when it was supposed to be in deep sleep. Now Android System is using almost 40%
Has anyone else had the same experience? Great battery life changing to mediocre battery life in a couple of days.
Please advise.
Thanks!!!
I suggest you get Betterbatterystats and that way you can see exactly what is causing the problem. It is available in the market, but there is a free version here in post 2. IIRC the AOS taking so much of your battery life is bc of some errant process that is constantly drawing/polling on the system and causing the dismally high % of use. Find the app, fix it and your problem will be solved.

AOKP, ICS Battery life issues..

I've been using the latest gingerbread builds and I'm having great battery life, But I notice when I use AOKP or any kind of ICS rom my battery life isnt so great..
Is there a specific kernel you people are using? and What kernel settings are working the best for you?
Thanks!

Good news that you are not alone. Based on my premature calculation, only 10 out of 100 (that's 10% ) ICS ROM users have good - great battery life, meaning the rest is having worse. Mine is falling into that group. I never have great battery, only so-so and below average.
Also as Nick has mentioned, asking for which best is a NO NO here.
One might be good for me, doesn't mean it will be good for you and vice versa.
Try them all and pick one that best suite for you.
My 2 cents......I know you have read this several times - but battery life is really dependent on a lot of factors - your AT&T signal, rogue apps, data sync frequency, CPU governor etc. etc.
read Entropy's excelled thread on battery drain on this forum.
i tried out a few GB roms over the last few weeks and really did not notice any battery improvement over ICS.
Currently running cMIUI with xxkernel and it is really working out great as in the battery easily lasts for the whole day.
I remember when I was on stock GB I could go upto 2 days on single charge - but that may be due to the battery being brand new. I have read that the battery in SGS2 really degrades fast
I have 2% drain per hour when doing absolutely nothing, screen off, wifi off, gps off during 8 hours overnite.
While someone has reported having only 2% or 3% drain over 8 hours overnite.

Have you tried using "Better Batter Stats" to see what is causing the drain?
I have been using AOKP since Task brought it to us and I average 1% every two hours over nite.
Do you use the Facebook app? That sucker is hungry for your juice.

I got BBS v1.7 for a while, that was absolutely no help.
I installed BBS 1.8 for about a week. Based on their info, I got the "multipdp" along with some other things (such wake-lock) cranked up big time.
I read the Entropy thread, not much help.
Note: Wifi is off.
Maybe 3G/H+ keep toggling for sync process?
I do use facebook! haha. and I havent used better battery stats

I'd also recommend using CPU Spy in conjunction with Better Battery Stats to see if the phone is able to enter deep sleep.
I don't get as good as you. . .I average about 1% or less per hour overnight. But that's with wifi on, periodic syncing of 7 accounts, scheduled backups and cache cleaning going on.

My understanding is multipdp will show when apps are waking the radio to use cell data - each wake instance results in a minimum of 6 seconds of wakelock. Switching to wifi when you are idle "should" eliminate this wakelock.
I could be wrong here...dig into the known battery drainers thread from around the time the first ICS roms were being tried on the i777. There was some discussion of it...it is a renamed version of some other wakelock in GB.

That's what I said, "maybe 3G/H+ toggling".
I believed that if I left wifi on overnite, do nothing, I still had 2% drain per hour.
Let me completely turn off data tonite and see how thing goes.
errrrr I have a huge problem with my battery. I've been testing various ICS roms and kernels(aokp, foxhound, serendipidity, fluxxi Kernel, siyah 3.4.3.,Neak) and all of them with the exception of serendipity w/siyah kernel, drain my battery real fast.
Not really sure what the problem is but when I look at what's been using the battery its most of the time either screen (which is understandable) and android os? I went to bed last night leaving my phone at 100% and woke up to find it at 52%. When I looked at what was using the battery it displayed, 93% android os and only 3% cell standby??(btw Foxhound ICS, Siyah Kernel) Maybe I have to many things updating/syncing?
When I first got my phone, 2-3% battery drain overnight was one of the things that amazed me about stock gingerbread on the i777.
I've flashed alot of roms since then, and so far, no ROM can even touch that stat.

[Q] System process - high cpu load

Hello everyone!
I don't know if this is posted in the right thread, but here we go!
I recently rooted my M8 and installed Cyanogenmod 12 (cm-12-20141216-UNOFFICIAL-m8). It runs smooth and I'm pleased overall. I have found some bugs here and there but that's to be expected at this stage. But the one thing that's bugging me is that the battery is getting drained by system process.
It says... Process: System - CPU load 50%
In settings - battery it says "Miscellaneous" at 60%
any ideas? I read some other people that runs the same build and they have 5-6 hours OST.
Ive tried with factory reset and reinstalled cyanogenmod but no luck.
I would appreciate some pointers.. thanks!
What screen-on time are you getting? Although, in any case battery life is often a function of how you individually use your phone, as well as network reception in your area (worse signal causes faster battery drain).
I don't know how CM12 is reporting battery usage (every ROM will report usage a bit differently). But seeing as aside from the screen, the CPU is doing all the work, I don't see this as being too unusual.
