I had rooted the phone and was working all fine. I took it to a store to get the scratch protector installed on my screen and since then it stopped working. The hardware buttons at the bottom are all working fine. I can power up the device. I can reinstall roms but cannot do anything beyond that. anyone have solution for this. I read somewhere that there is some sensor for touch screen enable/disable. Please help. i tried almost everything
So isn't the "scratch protector" the culprit?

I removed the scratch protector screen. still the same problem.
Probably worth going back to the shop you went to? It would be my first port of call...
it happens to me too! the touch screen sensor is broke so you have to go to samsung service to fix it

Well I did it... Broke the screen a couple of weekends ago. Ordered and received a new one. (No problem and not too bad price-wise) Then I ordered the correct screwdriver. That came in yesterday and I followed a couple of tutorials online to take the thing apart. Not too bad despite the teeny-tiny parts. I got it back together and lo-it worked! Actually it took a couple of tries and I reflashed it but then it booted right up. All the apps seemed responsive and life was good once again...
Until I tried to make a call. Then the screen went dark and it appeared that the phone froze up. Called myself from the house phone and discovered that the Aria was dialing, connecting, and sending voice but that I couldn't hear anything on the Aria.
Disassembled, re-set the earpiece, reassembled, called myself again, and I could hear. The screen came on and stayed on, but the touchscreen would not function.
Disassembled, checked all the connections, and reassembled again. The phone appears to work correctly in all aspects until I try to make or receive calls. At that point the screen shuts down and the only way to disconnect a call (or get the screen back) is to pull the battery and reboot.
I tried reflashing the ROM and that didn't work. I'm afraid the transceiver is shorting the screen out somehow but have reached the limits of my expertise.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Jerry
I have never had to replace my digitizer so only speaking from what i have read but it sounds like the very small rubber piece that covers the proximity sensor. I have read that if missing or not placed correctly people have had the same problem as you. Just my thoughts
I've replaced my digitizer and I have had the exact same problem. E.Cardo is correct, it is the small rubber piece on the proximity sensor not positioned correctly or not present at all.
Thanks to both of you. The proximity sensor is supposed to be right behind the ATT logo, correct?
I can't wait to get home and try this. I really don't like the backup Cliq Xt... I'll post once I've messed with it.

It's hard to see them exactly so I took a picture to show exactly where they are:
http://imgur.com/a/36h8t#ayQhv
It's actually just above the & in the at&t logo, although if you have a replacement digitizer, it might not have the at&t logo on it. If you have trouble seeing it, try looking at it in the sunlight.
To add to what drumist said there as small black rubber piece that goes around the proximity sensor that prevents light seepage and allot of people discard it by mistake when disassembling the phone.

Why did you have to reflash? The new screen didn't worked?.
My aria's screen is broken too. I boutgh a new one but It doesn't work. Do you resolve this reflashing? (that's mean applying the new rom version from ATT)
Thanks for your response.

The screen or digitizer are hardware they should have nothing to do with the rom. The op only tried flashing the phone to illuminate it is a possible source of the problem. It sounds like you did not install the new screen or digitizer correctly you may need to disassemble and make sure everything is connected correctly and securely. Flashing your phone will most likely not correct your problem.

Maybe, just maybe, there are new drivers for the touchscreen included in the rom. I am using cyanogen 7.0.3 without problems, and it works nice with the old screen.
Or the new screen is defective.
I am pretty sure I installed correctly the new screen. Of course the old one is working fine right now.
I requested a new screen so I will wait...
Thanks again.
So my phone is in perfect condition i've had it under a month there has been no major damage to it, it looks new and has been in an otterbox all its life with another screen protector on it.
But when i woke up this morning the touch screen wouldn't respond. I could use all the buttons and they worked i could even pull up s voice by holding the home button and then pressing back button and get to android home menu with the app. But the touch screen would not detect my fingers at all.
I don't see how its possible it has got any damage it is in perfect condition.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I think i read somewhere about resetting the digitizer?
And as far as resetting it to factory and or going to a different firmware. Since i cannot access my apps i cannot really backup my phone and it has really important info that i can't lose. So i'm stuck in between 2 walls and i am screwed.. Any suggestions?
Oh and i also removed the otterbox and screen protector to make sure nothing trapped underneath it was causing interference. No luck. :crying:

if not rooted send it for warranty, and if it is rooted unroot it first and check download mode status before claiming warranty.
use a usb otg cable and usb mouse to navigate the screen.
You can make a backup using adb

My phone is in the shop for that and beeing repaired, probably a digitizer malfunction (hardware related). Buttons work but touch does not work. Send it in for repair. They will replace the whole screen.
I initially dropped my phone in water (sink), got out immediately and dried in rice. 72 hours later I powered up and all apps work, sound, making calls etc work. The problem is only half the screen works. I've replaced with a new digitizer and LCD screen. And still only half of the screen (same half) works. Do I have any other options? PLEASE HELP Please. My phone was purchased from AT&T if that helps.

Did u replaced the digitizer and LCD or u went to some service center?
Without knowing the problem and changing both the things blindly, surely, waste your money. If touch was not working buddy, then why u replaced LCD?
Okay, now its done, better move on.
If replacement didn't do any good, Then there might be a chance of other hardware problem... You can contact your provider's service center, they will surely look into this matter.

Thanks, I'll call service center. The parts that I replaced were free from a friend, so no loss of money. The screen was cracked from a previous drop but still worked fine and the LCD had a couple of white spots after it fell in the sink. So I changed both for reasons other than just the digitizer not working properly.

I also have been having touch-screen problems. Several parts of the screen don't respond to touch. I'd rather fix this phone than replace it.
I am running Android 2.3.6, kernel 2.6.32.9 [email protected]#2.
I see there is no screen calibration for this version.
I have purchased another digitizer screen but have not yet tried to install it. The ATT service center is not likely to help, as I have rooted the phone and enabled side-loading and mobile tethering.
Two questions:
1. Could changing to a later Android version and doing a screen calibration fix this?
2. How should I prepare for replacing the digitizer, other than a Titanium Backup?
Yesterday I got my LG G watch and everything was great, then this morning I tried to apply a screen protector, and since then my screen has been randomly turning on and stuff, it launched Google voice search by itself or swiped trough the cards by itself. I already did a factory reset, but the problem still persist. Does anyone else face this problem and is there a way to fix this?
Thanks in advance!
Edit: After turning developer options on and using the show touches option I can see my screen is pressed without I am pressing it (the entire time it's the corner at the bottom right of the screen). Is this an over sensitive screen? Or maybe it happened because I tried to apply a screen protector?

I have a spigen screen protector on (dry install) and have no issues. Was yours a dry install as well? Not sure what happens with wet installs.

Mine also was dry install, I used a screen protector tool to get the bubbles out, maybe I pushed too hard? (which is not likely, because I have applied dozens of screen protectors and never had any issues)

Unsure. I would just take off the protector.I hope it didn't cost too much. Maybe try another?
Stupid question, did you take off the factory cover prior to installing the new one? Sorry, I have to ask lol.

Haha, didn't cost too much, however, de problem persist even when screen protector is removed..
Yes I did take it off
Oke, first I thought it was due to an oversensitive touchscreen, however, now I am experiencing the problem when in direct sunlight, when getting back inside the problem keeps appearing for an hour or something and then disappears.. Is this common for some touchscreen?

Mine turns on randomly all the time, it's super annoying, but I think there might be a way to disable it.
I think it's supposed to be a feature: you move your arm around, and the screen turns on so you can read it. Neat idea, but it's waaaay too sensitive, and my screen turns on alllll the time for no reason.
However, your watch is even scrolling through pages and activating google now? Yikes. And it still scrolls/activates google now after you removed the screen protector, not just turning screen on? Unfortunately, I would probably try to exchange it But you'll be glad you did.

Thanks for your reply, unfortunate you experience the same with your watch, however, mine is not too sensitive, but the heat of the sun or bright daylight causes the touchscreen to activate and register a touch, I already informed LG of my problem, and they said they took the problem to the technical staff and will inform me in a couple of days what to do
I have a very irritating problem my device touch screen is responding even though it is black and locked. It keeps annoying me when i am in a call and it is only a matter of time till it ends the call. Problem started after having a screen replacement but i can hardly believe it is a screen problem because it is functioning normally and also gets dark when i am in a call. My proximity sensor is working as it should. It is like my screen gets dark and not totally off.
My phone is rooted and i am running lollipop 5.1.1 custom rom

It sounds like you are having ghost touch problem. This usually presents itself when you change the front glass with digitizer and leave the old LCD. This cannot be repaired if this is the case. I dont think this is a sw problem. When did this issue started to manifest itself? Right after the screen replacement or it started to appeare gradually?
Yes it appeared just after repairing the cracked screen. The lcd was working but not the touch and the glass was all cracked.
How can i solve this?

One thing to mention is that i do not get touches that i didn't make. They are just getting read when the screen shouldn't read them.

But does touch work normally when you use the phone? Ghost touch can manifest itself on various ways, like your case or can go completely crazy when the screen is on. You can try some apps that resolve ghost touch like touch fixer. Some people are saying that unlocking BL and flashing CM resolves this issue and other sollutions you can try is to apply heat with heat gun or hair drier directly on the screen to make sure the glue is sticking the digitizer onto the LCD propperly, or fiddle with the flat cable contacts bit by bit until the touch is working properly but this requires disassembling the device again. You can alway try to flash different firmware to see if it'll resolve your issue but I highly doubt it will. GL
