Hey all, Im selling my unlocked Vibrant and did a 'Factory Data Reset' to wipe my personal information. Does it need to be unlocked again?
Thanks!
nope you should be fine i did the same thing with mine and i was still unlocked to use with any sim
Have experience of an unlocked and rooted Desire HD and other phones such as G300, but this is a different ball game for me. Mostly the phone is obviously so new and an expense!
Regarding the unlocking of the bootloader and flashing a recovery. I have a Vodafone UK phone by the way.
The bootloader is unlocked through HTCdev, this wipes the data, content and everything. Does this mean the actual stock rom is wiped and the phone is essentially waiting for a new rom to be flashed?
What gives with the recoveries. Some say CWM, some say TWRP, which is the best recovery from flashing roms particularly for a Vodafone (International)?
The rom flashing is different here too. Am I limited to what roms I can flash as I on a Vodafone branded phone? How would i know what rom I can used. Would the dev state the rom is compatable for a Vodafone HOX+?
Thank you.
When bootloader unlocked, stock rom stays intact, flash CWM recovery, international roms flash on any international device...
Pretty much unless you have the AT&T or Telus version, all the international roms will work with your device. I don't believe the rom developers will specifically say Vodafone compatible.
So using the all in one tool to root does NOT wipe your stock rom data? I thought it does...

Unlocking your device will wipe all of your data/apps/etc. The phone's state should return to the way it was when you first bought it, however this means that the stock rom will still be on the phone, it will just have been reverted back to its default state.
Alright cool. I might as well flash a custom ROM at that point. I am coming from a Galaxy S so flashing was very easy with ODIN/CWM. All this bootloader stuff has me a bit lost.
The other day, I set about installing Cyanogenmod 11 on my Xperia Z2 D5603. I was already rooted on the stock rom 4.4.4 Kitkat 23.0.1.A.0.167. I used flashtool to downgrade to 4.4.2 17.1.2.A.0.314, rerooted it, and installed dualrecovery from this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785598
But upon choosing reboot after flashing the custom ROM via TWRP, the phone went dark, and wouldn't turn on. The only response I got was a quick vibration every second or two if I hold down the power button. I could not access recovery either.
I was able to revive it by using flashtool to reflash 4.4.2 17.1.2.A.0.314. I tried the same procedure with AOKP ROM, which had the same result. After trying many different things, I realized that factory reset, or wiping 'system' under advanced wipe would cause this to happen. Flashing without factory reset either returns an error, or finishes, but doesn't actually flash the ROM (stock ROM boots)
How to I flash a ROM without this happening? Any help is appreciated.
Have you unlocked your bootloader? It doesn't sound like it.
These roms require another kernel and you need to unlock your bootloader to install it.

I thought that the fact that it was successfully rooted meant that the bootloader was unlocked. Is this not the case?
How do I unlock the bootloader and install whatever kernel I need?

Hmm no.
Root ! = unlocked bootloader.
Go to the sony website ( http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/unlock-yourboot-loader) to get instructions to unlock your bootloader.
But with your first assumption in mind, I suggest you read up about it first. Understand the risks and limitations.

Perfect! I unlocked the bootloader by using the instructions on sony's website. It did the trick, and CM11 is running successfully.
Thanks so much!
Hey guys this is probably a lame question... does any risk come with buying a phone with an unlocked boot loader?
I bought an OnePlus 5 from ebay used in great shape. The seller advised the the phone was rooted with Android 10.
When i start the phone it does have a warning advising the bootloader is unlocked and cautions the OS may not be secure.
The phone did have what seemed to be a fresh install of Android 10... but after trying a few root check apps ... didnt seem to be rooted.
I went ahead and reinstalled android 10 ...
Now that it has what i know to be a clean copy of A10... do i need to worry about the unlocked boot loader? Could there be any other
way my personal info could be compromised ?
Thanks!!!

Wen you are rooted it compromises the system. If you want to relock it search for the code to use in cmd prompt in adn tools. Really easy to relock. But will wipe all your data any time you lock or unlock the bootloader
Having searched high and low without finding an answer, I have done a factory reset (uninstalled Magisk root, I did not install TWRP so I did not trip Knox, Odined factory image back to device) which was easy enough, but I cannot find out how to RELOCK the bootloader to original lock so the tablet is pristine. The bootloader is still unlocked after the factory reset and I need to relock it.
So... Any help out there on how does one relock the bootloader on a Tab S6?
Thanks.
Did you try this?

For the S10, but the principle should be the same - Probably worth a try.
