I know root is coming soon. I was wandering if the possibility of tweaks for these upcoming roms is possible.

hi guys, i'm considering buying a hero, but based on the stock rom i have several issues. could someone tell me the exact changes and improvements present in the latest rom so i can make a better educated decision i.e. are there any browser or flash improvements etc. thanks
does no one have a changelog?
hi all
i heard cm9 might be releasing fir the ace in the near future ..and i am pretty excited ...
but then again whats the pro's of having a cm9 rom? will it make the ace faster ?
i don't use rarely use stock apps ( music , launcher , video player ) so will i fully benefit from a cm9 rom ?
Cm9 is ICS rom...it will make ur ace do everything an ics device can....for now cm9 for ace is in alpha stage....ics is faster than 2.3 and holds a superb multitasking feature...and a very good ui....

sweet!!! and i tot cm9 is only eye candy..
oh and what does alpha stage mean.?
Alpha is a stage of an ROM like how far from complete it is.
Here are some of the stages.
Pre-alpha -> Just started and running. - For Developers.
Alpha -> Not ready for daily use. - For members with a lot of experience.
Beta -> Normal members can start using here. - But still contains bugs.
RC -> Ready for use. - Very little if any bugs.
Nightly -> Generally it means an automated build that is done once a day, typically after the end of the day for most of the developers. For projects with developers in multiple time zones it's generally a compromise time. The idea is that everyone who is going to check in code "today" has done so, and the automated build will make sure that everything compiles, and hopefully run the unit tests and any other automated tests etc that exist, then produce a final installer/executable etc.
Maclaw's Alpha 3 is working good. But still contains lot's of bugs. - Such as flickering and no camera.
i like how you say "your mother can use it!" lol
and.... it's more than "a bit" of flickering. dont you agree? it's like a time back and forth flashing. like a busted time machine... lol ... btw, any idea when are the devs gonna release it?
Nope. You can never give a ETA. Depends on how many more bugs are found and how bad the bugs are. NEVER EVER ASK FOR AN ETA
One of the main reasons I want to use CM9 is for the browser and slick multitasking UI. Most people think it is just eye candy but it isnt. Other than a major graphical revamp, it is going to be much faster than stock 2.3.4 and CM7.

A lot of low-level work on optimising the frameworks has been done (hardware acceleration and graphics tweaks), though some of that will benefit from the newer Android kernel V3.x which I don't think the Ace will get quickly (current ICS alpha still uses the older V2.6.x kernels).
The UI is also much better designed!!!
But the biggest change is what developers will do with it, lots of new APIs means the best apps will be ICS only. This is the biggest thing, without ICS, Ace users will slowly only be able to run older apps...
I know the older brick kernel allowed GPU overclocking, and I was curious as to whether this option is (or will be made) available in the latest ICS builds?
While I know this won't net any tangible real world benefit, I just love tinkering with things. It was one of the reasons I loved my gtab so much.
Thanks in advance.

It isn't available with the current kernel. From what I've heard, even a mild overclock produces a noticeable boost in framerate of some games.

Who wants to install a custom rom made by a stranger in his basement? Samsung optimizes the stock rom to use the full potential of the device. These tweaks that modders do drain the battery. I don't think custom roms can give me more battery life while providing better performance. Rooting the device is the way to go.
Any counter-arguments?
What planet u on? :sly:
Yes they optimize it... but look at the s2.... not meant for Ginger bread
Its why xda is awesome....
By the way do u support apple ore are u comming from an apple device
And what device are u using
And what ROM are u using
And those are usually alpha's or beta's.... as in a work in progress
And most s2 ROMs are more optimized from just the os (ICS,JB)
Most custom ROMs are more optimized than Samsung could ever do.
Plus custom ROMs offer updates and new features (JB,ICS)

BTW: don't hate the developers... they are cooler than you will ever be. Most of the developers do it as a side hobby, and others do it full time. They do it for free as a good dead for the community.
And most of them don't like in a basement.... they couldn't afford the better phones if they did
If it weren't for the developers you could not root and all that great stuff.
SHOW SOME RESPECT :banghead:

All these mods/Roms that developers provide free of charge are never forced on anyone and this is a very bad way of complimenting their tireless efforts.
Thread reported!
Developers are building, making, modifying porting different apps, features roms in general to use on the devices for free. If you don't like the roms then that's your opinion but don't disrespect the developers that make sure you can have root in your device. Thread locked
And does it improves with CM based ROMs?...
