Old thread from page 4, but I had to respond to this.
Innovative? Yeah, sure. BUT, do you see how big it made that iphone? Imagine how much bigger and bulkier the DNA would get with that case. There would be no reason to brag about how thin and light it is after that. haha

Not a bad idea tho like the expandable sd

well that would be nice to have lol

I'd probably buy one just for traveling so I have extra storage for movies. Either way I'd Def buy one

WHOA, now that was too close!
Damn, I was literally just in the process of emailing Seidio with a totally similar concept and calling it the MFC-3 or Multi-Function Case 3 because it was to protect the case, extend battery life by 1000mAh, and have a slot for microSD cards up to 64Gb, Since I'm military I wanted the case to be of the ruggedized style. The case would have three parts. The two piece internal, electronic case that is basically a Y-splitter. The lower part slips onto the bottom and slips into the phones charge port and the top section slides on and connects to the lower slot. This part of the case contains the battery booster, the microSD slot/port, and the charge/data port.
Then there is the soft gel cover slip that goes over the inner case and surrounds the ports and acts as a shock absorber.
Finally the hardened outer case to help protect those ports, the screen, and the rest of the phone.
I was hoping they could also do the same for Tablets that don't have MicroSD slots and who might just need a little extra juice but not so much that the device appears like crazy bulky. Maybe just enough additional power to give 2 more hours of power.
I'm glad and at the same time happy that I stopped in here and stumbled onto this thread. Would have been majorly embarassing after someone threw that in my face. LOL!
But lets be honest. HTC should have at least made this and option to purchase with the phone. It's almost like this system is more of a prototype or something. Anyway someone needs to make something for the power users who have the DNA. Otherwise I may have to figure out a way to slap a battery booster on this thing which is going to look totally crazy duct taped to a heavy otterbox. HA HA HA HA HA!
TSgt Nick 'Tac' Parker

I was looking at that a while back--didn't Apple deny them the microSD or something? I know it's bulky, but I wouldn't mind terribly if it could increase my battery stats. I'm getting 2 consecutive hours on wifi (GPS/4G off) and I can't tell if my own device's battery is wonky, or if this device just has a mediocre battery life.

Anyone else feel the need to add paper behind the battery?

As the title implies, my back battery door used to creek so badly. Put some paper behind it and feels 10x better.
Just wondering if anyone has had to do the same?
I bounce back and forth between extended and oem battery. My oem door doesn't squeak badly, rarely every really. My extended door doesn't at all.
My back door creaked but it was because I had a missing tab near the volume bar. Got a replacement from VZW and the creak is gone.
mine creaks horribly...you just put paper behind it? my left side creeks reallllllllly bad and it's getting worse.
wow very cool. i just put a thick piece of paper back there, and i don't really noitce it anymore..hmm!
haaha funny thing now, my phone doesn't lay 100% flat...it's a thin piece of paper, yet now i can sit here and spin my phone because there's a tiny added bulge to it!
Nice, I just snipped a piece and put it back there to see if it would altogether eliminate it. Good call!
Battery's get hot as they charge and discharge, this heat shortness there lifespan. I wonder if something other than paper would dissipate heat better?
Just a thought
Nope. Mine is solid. Aslo I keep a tpu case on it at all times.

Yeah, my first thought was that sounds dangerous
Mine doesn't really creak much.
The paper isn't going to spontaneously combust. It isn't nearly hot enough. Not to mention if you had to put more than 1 piece back there you should probably just get a new back door. If anything was going to make the phone stay hot, or get hot longer it would be a TPU case, or any case for that matter.
nope. gonna spontaneously combust.

It's nothing I wad losing sleep over lol, just something that bothered me, and adding paper resolved it just fine, very happy with the results.
creak bothered the living hell out of me because it creaked even with the TPU case on; felt like i was holding a cheap piece of plastic. now it doesn't and i couldn't be happier.

Looking for new OEM stock battery back door

Mine unfortunately creeks and I think that it has to do with the back battery door.
I would like to find a new one so I don't have to put paper behind it to keep it from creeking.
If you have one from a Refurb or anything like that please PM me as I would be very grateful to purchase this.
Pretty sure I've seen them on Verizon's web site. Not terribly expensive.

hopefully this will fix the need for some paper behind the battery to stop the door from creeking.
will update when the new back door arrives!
Eventually these things will be everywhere like the inc2 as the back battery doors actually come with refurb replacements from Verizon. I myself had 3 extras for my inc2 lol.
Just got my new backdoor in this morning.
100% fixed the creeking noise on my phone!!
very happy about that, I have however kept a few small pieces of paper behind the door as there was a little gap frop the back door to the battery that i could feel, perhaps this was on purpose for cooling of battery? idk, not sure but my battery hasn't gotten any hotter than normal.
I've swapped out 2 battery doors and I still have the creaking. I'm fairly certain the only phones that don't creak are the iphone and droid razr/razr maxx.
my first rezound creaked like crazy, then i had a replacement sent out and it was fine. pretty weird issue to have lol.
Just add some papers the size of the battery behind the door, works wonders.
The back cover/door for the extended battery is a piece of crap, and creaks like a rusty hinge all the time. So annoying. I finally got it to almost entirely stop by taking some sticky notes and cutting two thin strips on the adhesive part, and sticking them on the sides of the inside of the back cover, then sticking a little bit of paper on top of the battery. For mine, at least, most of the sound was coming from where you grip it on the sides and this solved it.
@HTC: It's annoying that we have to do this, please take more care with the design of it on future super-phones. Save the cheap back covers for mid-range/low-end phones, in my opinion. Lol.
Og droid had a metal back cover and didn't creak. I had a bionic, and it creaked

No creaking here either.
Standard door does not creek at all. The extended one does a tiny bit on the right side, if I death grip it like someone above said lol. Not annoying enough to try and fix it.

Both mine creek. The extended one creeks the worse that's for sure. It doesn't matter how you hold it. Not the biggest deal though since I don't use it too often. I don't seem to get that much more life out of it to justify the size compared to the standard battery.

I have an awful creak on the left side. I am going to try a bit of gaffers tape.
My extended battery door doesn't creak but is missing the Beats logo. I noticed they didn't forget the HTC logo..

cut some paper the size of the battery, and stick them between the battery and the case. Add/take away sheets of paper till the case still closes but the creak is gone. We did this on the droid bionic, did wonders for the terrible creak of the phone. I haven't had to much creak with the rezound, but been meaning to do this with the phone.
yeah, I notice that as well with my unit. It is a little annoying. I have to say while the phone is nice, the build quaility really needs a little better.
You'll get used to it. No big deal.
The TPA case that goes only around the edges (sold on htcpedia.com) helps reduce this. It fits the regular back and OEM extended battery back. Best case I've ever had on a phone.

I bought the extended battery and back and that TPA case that goes around the edges but leaves the back exposed does a great job of squeezing the back and phone together and eliminating the squeeks. I like the regular size battery but with the TPU case, I use the extended battery all the time.
solution is too buy a 3rd party case.
My original Rezound didnt creak, but my replacement one does a bit. I notice it most when I'm cleaning the screen, cause that seems to put the most pressure on it. Sticking a bandaid on the battery seems to have helped it a lot though..
i put a thin piece there to stop the creaks, which it did..it's funny though, now my rezound easily spins in circles on a table hahah..that THIN piece of paper was enough to bulge the middle of teh back cover out to make it spinny!
Don't forget that paper is an insulator. That's why homeless people use newspaper as a blanket. Your phone will retain more heat, longer with paper shoved inside it.
yeah, we voiced those concerns back wehn this topic came out like the week the phone came out haha..was always a problem..but most of us never really noticed any higher temps than normal..my phone never goes over like 42 degrees C, which is what, around 100 degrees F?
I'm pretty nit picky about my phone creaking and I've had a lot of time on my hands so recently I've given this topic way to much thought.....
The creaking is due to the plastic not fitting perfectly and the friction created when the battery door slightly moves around.
I sat down with a bottle cap, a q-tip, and a can of WD-40 (I know, I know, call me crazy if you must )
I filled up the bottle cap with WD-40 and dipped the q-tip in it. I carefully LIGHTLY applied it on all the connecting tabs on the battery door. Voila! Be careful to avoid all the antenna metal stuff so you don't mess up your reception.

[Q] Verizon DNA rant (sorry ahead of time)

The plastic charging door broke on my phone, and Verizon wants me to ship my device back for this instead of sending me the little piece of plastic, with a possible $200 charge for abuse? The battery life is not great on the device I use it all day so I have to charge it often, I can't stand when MFG's put these little covers on but the phone looks like crap without it.
Anyone else have this and a better way to get the little charging door or a case recommendation so I can't see it? I love the otterbox stuff but both cases are too bulky for the DNA in my opinion.
Most people ripped of that little flap. If you get a new one it will probably come off again, so just keep your phone.
As far as cases, idk. I keep my phone naked.

Agreed, I prefer it naked as well, but this thing looks bad without the door, the phone has such clean lines!
When and if mine comes off or falls apart, I will be making another one that's completely removable, basically like a rubber plug fabricated to fit snugly into the slot when I'm not charging carefully formed to prevent damage or binding.
My rezound didn't have a cover, and I take good care of my devices but in my home and work environment I'm surrounded by dust and dirt. My DNA inside would get lots of stuff like dust and even tiny pieces of hay.
My OCD would get the best of me, and every time I would connect the charger I would think of dust and airborne particles being abrasive to the micro USB port.
It can be annoying to have to use a tool each time I remove the cover but I'm really glad its there. I realize how frustrating it can be though.

A monumentally stupid design choice that was clearly done to induce the purchase of wireless chargers.

I think the funny/sad thing here is the immediate claim from Verizon to me on the phone that it's probably abuse. I asked the support rep if he had seen the plastic hinge before. Abuse, total crap when it breaks in a month... if it had a little stronger battery it probably would have taken me two months for it to wear out!!!

For people having poor battery performance - make sure you check your usage statistics! For example, there is a bug with Latitude where it will constantly ping for location, so Maps will take up a huge amount of battery life. Check and make sure there aren't any programs or servicing taking up an unusual amount of battery life. For me, battery life has been amazing once I fixed the Maps issue (there is a thread somewhere if anyone has any specific questions on that).
I've had my DNA for less than 24 hours and my battery door came off already haha. It's okay though, doesn't look that bad without it and I work in an office so I don't see any immediate danger to the device. Love it.

Sounds like maybe you should take it back and get an iPhone? Seriously, I have the DNA as well. Any phone that has the rubber door flap is going to break, period. Just leave it off. You can resolve battery life by rooting it, and loading a ROM/Kernel that has better battery support.
Lastly, in re: the way it looks, the case, etc. Sounds like you're just unhappy. Try getting a phone you like better? They provide a 15 day return period for folks just like you.

Re: Off-topic other device and upgrading phone discussion
I think it was a good discussion in the other thread.. Dont see the point in closing it and reopening another, but regardless here's my observation:
Build quality for some reason is a hot topic. People are ripping on samsung like they expected a non plastic body. I think the plastic design is great even if it does feel cheap. Scuff it up? Buy a new battery back. Easy. Scuff up aluminum you have to live with it.
Lots are asking if it's worth it to upgrade from the note 2 to the s4. Personally I don't see anything that would make me feel the need to upgrade. The only thing considerably better would be the screen. Yes you can say it will have a next generation 8 core blah blah but seriously, the note 2 and even s3 have never once lagged for me in anything real world. I fail to see how such a powerhouse of a processor is really any benefit.

Re: Off-topic other device and upgrading phone discussion
The point of this thread is any non note discussion. How many iphone threads do we have. For that matterhow many s4 threads are starting already. We had this in the s3 firm and it worked really nicely to cut down the iphone5 threads.
By the way I agree with everything you said about the s4. I'm good right here with my note

Re: Off-topic other device and upgrading phone discussion
It's going to take something substantial to make me want to upgrade from the note 2. Seems a lot of note 2 users feel the same. While I'm completely open to using an iPhone, I can't possibly imagine anything apple can produce in this year that would make me even consider the iPhone. HTC One is a very nice phone but when set against the note 2, what does one gain? The better screen at the cost of removable batteries and storage?
Saw someone post a comment somewhere telling people to drop the "removable battery" argument, saying they make charge packs so the argument is moot. It's so much more in my opinion... The battery is perhaps the one component other than physical buttons that will wear quickest. Why make it inaccessible? With removable batteries, in a year when the original battery doesn't hold the charge as well you can buy one for $30 where internal batteries, you're screwed.

Sorry about that.
Anyways, about the comparison of SIII to SIV and iPhone 4 to 4s - I don't think that's 100% true. Given the body and touchwiz are almost the same, which isn't a huge deal to me because I ALWAYS use a case. The hardware seems to be a significant bump. But what do I know? I am just a guy who likes the latest and (hopefully) greatest phones.

This doesn't make any sense, you can replace a scuffed up metal battery door just as easy as a plastic door. Also metal doesn't scratch any easier than plastic.

Thats the design though, not material. My Droid X had a removable metal battery door (also the best finish EVER!) I think samsung makes the best phones right now (as long as they can get a good signal, sgs3) and I wouldn't trade my Note 2 for any other device, but I hate the chrome plated plastic that chips easily, and the plastic battery door that pops off.

Why are you guys comparing HTC one to any Verizon android phone? Verizon is not getting the HTC one.
Aluminium vs plastic vs metal is silly also for many reasons. I have yet to see a metal battery door that covered the whole back, and if there is how would it stay on. I feel the flexibility and strength in the S3 and Note 2 battery doors is ideal for the bigger smart phones. I could never keep my battery covers on my droid x or x2's. And the metal and aluminum most definitely scratch easier and more than plastic phones.
I also feel with all the antenna's and placement the signal strength and GPS strength will be better surrounded by plastic.

It was literally just confirmed on twitter like a few hours ago that verizon wasn't getting the One. And I was speaking in general as the build quality argument seems to be the main negative argument against samsung.

I saw the HTC one post last night. Either way couldn't picture it going to VZW with the dlx+ coming.
People that are complaining about the build quality doesn't realize if they want Samsung to build an aluminium bodied smartphone they would have to give up micro sdcard and removable battery.
How is the build quality of the S4? Who ever says the build quality of the S3 is poor must have tortured it. Several S3's and Note 2's passed through our family and friends, and have yet seen build quality issues.
I'm sorry I don't see it. I am opened minded about reasons for thinking aluminum is better than plastic, but its not. In the last 5 to 8 years in the newer cars, the piston rods and in some cases part of the pistons and blocks are made of plastic. Dissipate heat, static, and corrosion better. Keeping the same tensile strength of aluminum and steel at a lower cost.
I see the one's use of an aluminum body as a gimmick or selling point only. I also see aluminum causing more of an internal jar when dropped compared to plastic.

I completely agree. Basically what I was trying to say. No way in hell I'm giving up use of my 64 gig card either.

Why would using a different material mean that it wouldn't have an microSD card or removable battery? All my metal phones had microSD cards, and most had removable batteries. I don't even care about a removable battery if it's 3000+ mah and an efficient chip, but I also need a microSD slot but having a phone made of metal has nothing to do with having one or not.

I never had a problem with my Droid X battery cover, but my Note 2 cover pops off easily. I also only had one minor scratch from a major drop on my Droid X, but I had many minor scratches on my Note 2 within 2 weeks without being dropped at all.

What does everyone think about the Iphone 5?
wow, really thought verizon might have finally gotten their head out of the arse and gotten back to the same htc phone as everyone else. Glad I got the Note 2, but do prefer htc's build design over samsung, but samsung is winning with features (bigger removeable batteries, sd cards, spen).
Just ordered 2 extra batteries and docks with chargers from samsung. I could go the portable battery pack route, but why? This way, just swap batteries and keep going (1 is for the wife). I make it through 90% of my days on the one battery, but find myself wanting to charge for an hour usually in the middle of my shift. This way I can just swap if battery gets too low. Don't see replacing this phone for a while so batteries will get used (and had 50% off coupon).

I have a feeling Verizon will have a One with a big ol' Droid logo and black/red paint job, treating it as an entirely new phone. And because of this, Verizon and HTC are trying to say there "won't" be a Verizon variant.
I mean just think about it. If you saw a simple HTC One commercial / display vs. a flashy, animated Verizon HTC Droid *pseudo-One-insertepicnamehere* commercial, which would you rather choose?
galaxy exhibit 2.
Ok so I went to a T mobile store and got my little girl a galaxy exhibit 2.
I set it up on there unlimited 4g prepaid plan.
The girl at the store wanted to set it up for me. But I was like no I'll do
That later after I find a flash a rom on it lol.
I hit xda and found twrp for it and then I found a nice rom to put on it
It's an ok phone nothing special but not bad at all.great for an 11 year old.
I hade t mobile before and it didn't work almost anywhere. I hade the same
Set up with them that I have on verizon now. 3 phones and a mobile hor spot.
Ok now the service on this exhibit was pretty good. It works in the house. I wasn't
Sure if it was the phone or if the service had gotten better so I wanted to test and see what's up.
I did something that's questionable legally. To my gn2 and for testing purposes I
Was able to use my gn2 on the exhibits sim and number. Conforming
That T mobile service isn't any better but rather the little exhibit 2 has better
Radios then my gn2. It gets h+ and 3g in the house while my note onlly gets edge and if I
Put the note in the window I could get h and I could get 3g in places. But that exhibit 2 gets 3g through the whole house.
If I were to go back and choose again (between the note 2 and the htc one) Id still pick the note 2. Even though Im pretty partial to htc, I couldnt go without a removable battery and sd card. I cant tell you how many times pulling my battery because I was stuck in a bootloop saved my ass.
